Ryan Gosling Gets Wet & Soggy In A New Film

Posted: 08 Dec 2010 12:01 PM PST

Ryan Gosling is about to thrill audiences with his performance in his new film Blue Valentine (due out later this month) … but he is also getting ready to thrill audiences with his performance in a film called All Good Things. For some reason not yet known to me, Ryan ends up totally soggy and wet while wearing only a pair of tighty whitey undies …

Now, I am completely certain that All Good Things will feature an amazing acting performance by Gosling but, as you can see, the movie also offers a bit more as well ;) After the jump, check out a few more photos of a seeping wet and underwear-clad Ryan Gosling as featured in All Good Things

I’m sold. Are you?

Will Britney Spears Release Her New Single On January 3, 2011?

Posted: 08 Dec 2010 11:30 AM PST

Last Friday we learned of a rumor going around that claims that Britney Spears, who just enjoyed the “best birthday” of her life with boyfriend Jason Trawick in Mexico over the weekend, is planning the release of her new single on January 7, 2011. Today we hear that the rumored release date has been moved up to January 3. Now, NONE of this has at all been confirmed but … the release of Britney‘s first single (reportedly titled Don’t Hold It Against Me) from her next album (due out in March ’11) is imminent. Here are photos of our dear Britney making her way out of the recording studio yesterday and the reported deets of her new single release date:

Britney Spears One thing you must admire about Britney is that through everything she's been through over the past few years, nothing seems to keep her down. With her life and career seeming to be back on the right track, Spears' 7th studio album is out in March. Teaming up with Dr Luke, Max Martin, Bloodshy & Avant and William Orbit – the album is said to have a dubstep feel to it. There is no official word on the first singles title however some sites are already reporting it as being titled 'Don't Hold It Against Me'. Whatever it turns out to be, you'll hear it on January 3rd.

Again … grain of salt … but I’m really starting to think we WILL be hearing new Britney music in early January. I’m not quite so sure about the reported name of the single but … January 3 or January 7 sounds really good to me. I’m trying not to get too exciting but … I simply can’t help it. Do you think we could actually be hearing a new Britney Spears song in just a few weeks?

MTV Releases The First Promo Images For ‘Jersey Shore’ Season 3

Posted: 08 Dec 2010 11:00 AM PST

It seems like only yesterday that we bid adieu to the cast of MTV‘s Jersey Shore when the second season of the show ended last Summer. But, brace yourselves, y’all … it’s almost time to say hello to our fave cast of self-proclaimed guidos and guidettes because Jersey Shore season 3 is just one month away! Now that the countdown had begun for JS3, MTV has released the first batch of promo photos for the new season which is set to debut on January 6:

The “Jersey Shore” crew’s second go ’round in Seaside Heights hits your TV sets exactly one month from today (that’s Jan. 6 for people currently experiencing the Groundhog Day phenomenon–we’re right there with you), and to whet your appetite for what’s sure to be another season of championship drinking, bitch-slapping and smushing, we’re leaking a few of the individual pix from MTV’s cast photo shoot.

Interestingly, Mike The Situation Sorrentino is not featured in this first batch of promo photos. I mean, I know he’ll be on the show and I’m certain he posed for his own set of promo photos for the show but … it’s just odd that’s all. Additionally, neither Sammi Sweetheart Giancola nor Ronnie Ortiz-Magro are featured … but they are easy to forget. I guess we’ll be seeing all of the individual promo pics of the entire Jersey Shore cast soon enough. And, to be completely honest, I don’t hate these first photos. Yes, Nicole Snooki Polizzi looks totally silly … but it’s her shtick now so, it kinda works. Jenni Jwoww Farley actually looks pretty … rather than skeezy. I like these pics, I can’t wait to see more.

Are YOU ready for a whole new season of Jersey Shore?

Home For The Pre-Holidays

Posted: 08 Dec 2010 10:30 AM PST

This afternoon I will be making my way to LAX Airport so that I can jet back home to Detroit, MI for the rest of the week to pre-celebrate the holidays with my family and friends back home:

Despite the fact that I really, really did NOT want to fly again this year I thought it would be nice to go home for a quick trip in between all the crazy Thanksgiving and Xmas melee. I’ll get to spend time with my parents and friends and I’ll get to visit some of my favorite haunts without having to deal with all the holiday lunacy. I’ll be working as usual for the rest of the week but from tomorrow ’til Sunday, I’ll be comin’ atcha from Detroit Rock City!

I hear it’s cold in the Midwest … yeah.

Michael Holtz Has Been Named The 2010 Athlete Of The Year By ‘Compete’ Magazine

Posted: 08 Dec 2010 09:30 AM PST

American swimmer Michael Holtz has been named the 2010 Athlete of the Year by Compete magazine for not only his athletic prowess but also for his strong commitment to advancing the rights of the GLBT community in and out of the world of sports. While I’m sure we’ll be hearing about other bigger name athletes on other 2010 lists this year, I am very happy and proud to pass along the great news that Holtz has been recognized for more than his commitment to sports … but also for this commitment to something far greater and more important:

What do you get when you cross a huge commitment to personal achievement, participation in a sport, and encouraging others in sports, with a commitment to the GLBT community? You get Michael Holtz. With that, Compete Sports Media is proud to announce Michael Holtz of Los Angeles, California as the media company’s 2010 Athlete of the Year. Michael’s accomplishments were closely studied by a celebrity Selection Committee consisting of international rugby star, Ben Cohen, Olympian Blake Skjellerup, actor/producer, Chad Allen, Sirius radio personality, Doria Biddle, and Compete’s CEO, Eric Carlyle. “We are thrilled to award Michael this year’s title,” said Carlyle. “He is an amazing athlete, an amazing person and an amazing addition to our elite list of winners.” Holtz, still in his twenties, impressed Compete’s judges with his athletic prowess as a swimmer (once swimming a relay race across the English Channel), a fund raiser (organizing one event that raised nearly $150,000), a strong supporter of sports (organizing the first-ever gay night at the LA Clippers), and as a supporter of equal rights as a Major Funds Officer with Equality California. Olympic gold medalist Greg Louganis sums up Michael Holtz in one sentence “He is a very committed, young, energetic man and a wonderful role model for what is good in the GLBT community in sports and awareness.”

I must confess, as a non-sports fan, I’m not too familiar with Michael Holtz but I’m quite taken with the coverstory article on his work for the GLBT community in this issue of Compete magazine. Having read about all of the work he has done both inside and outside of the pool, it seems to me that Compete chose well when they selected Holtz as their athlete of the year. After the jump, check out a few photos of Holtz and read a bit more about the work that made him stand out as the year’s best athlete …

With last September's Swim For Equality fundraiser, the 26-year-old positive-thinker with the All-American looks was able to bring together 52 swimmers from six different states for a 1.7-mile swim off the coast of Malibu. The unique fundraiser – which saw involvement from people aged 19 to 70, straight and gay – raised $148,000 for Equality California. Michael came up with the idea after organizing a similar event in New York City in 2009 – a 5K open water swim from Long Island to Fire Island that raised over $100,000 for the Stonewall Community Foundation. The former investment banker takes pleasure in his new career, which entails combining his love for swimming with raising thousands of dollars: "Now I'm taking people's money and putting it towards a good cause." That love for swimming began at the early age of six, when he followed his older brother into the pool in their hometown of Naples, Fla. Although he hated swimming at first, he soon discovered he was really good at it, and even though the big brother abandoned the pool for the gridiron Michael kept at it. "I started getting competitive at a young age," said Michael, who by the age of 13 was experiencing two-hour practice days, which helped him qualify for the Florida Zone team by the time he entered junior high … It was in New York that Michael really started to become comfortable in his own skin. He admits that his younger days as a swimmer allowed him to focus on winning, rather than confront his sexual orientation. "Swimming drove my competitive nature. Deep down inside I always knew I was gay, and gay was not right," said Michael, who gravitated toward sports and other school-related activities in order to make up for what he thought was a deficiency in his private life. But it was his swim team at Fordham that helped him accept his true self. He lived in a "swimming house" off campus with 15 other team members – boys, girls, straight, gay. "My swim team was so supportive," he told me. "Everybody on our team had respect for everybody" … As Compete's third annual Athlete of the Year, Michael Holtz stands for all the things that make our winners special; his personal achievement in his sport is accompanied by his commitment to supporting others and encouraging excellence in the gay sports community. Like New York's Jeff Kagan and Phoenix's John Deffee before him, Michael makes Compete proud to offer this acclaim. We expect to be seeing more from Michael in the coming years.

Click HERE to read the full online feature on Michael Holtz by Compete magazine to learn even more about this remarkable young man. It is my hope that Holtz‘s good work can inspire other young people to commit themselves to helping others.

Lindsay Lohan Is In The Drivers Seat Again

Posted: 08 Dec 2010 09:10 AM PST

Last month we learned the unbelievable news that the currently rehabbing Lindsay Lohan had successfully won back her driving privileges and today we get our first look at new photos of L. Lo behind the wheel of a motor vehicle on the streets of SoCal … again!

Watch out world … Lindsay Lohan is finally back behind the wheel of a car. TMZ has obtained the first photos of Lindsay’s big return to the driver’s seat — taken yesterday in Rancho Mirage, CA. Sources close to Lilo tell us the car doesn’t belong to her — we’re told she’s using the BMW as a rental while the Mercedes her father gave her is being fixed up in the shop. As we first reported, Betty Ford was reluctant to let Lindsay drive at all — because they thought paparazzi would follow her … creating a dangerous driving environment. But now — she’s free to drive as much as she wants … as long as she’s sober.

Blah. While I am ALL FOR cheering on Lindsay‘s apparent successes in rehab I am NOT on board with allowing her to drive again. I know people who have been banned from driving for years for far less serious infractions than the one’s Lindsay has been convicted of. Lindsay needs to focus on cleaning herself up, not tooling around town without a care in the world. Do I think Lindsay should not be allowed to drive forever? No. But I do think she should not be allowed to drive for some time … maybe a year, maybe more. Clearly, the California Department of Motor Vehicles feels otherwise :/

Britney Spears Talks About The ‘Best Birthday’ Of Her Life

Posted: 08 Dec 2010 08:30 AM PST

On Monday we saw a few photos from Britney Spears‘s birthday weekend getaway with boyfriend Jason Trawick and today we get to see one more cute photo of Britwick in paradise. US Weekly has published a new photo of the pair on holiday in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico lookin’ as happy as can be. According to Britney, her weekend away with Jason made for the best birthday of her life!

Days after Star magazine and Radaronline published fake reports about Jason Trawick’s alleged physical abuse of girlfriend Britney Spears, the content pop singer and her beau of nearly two years were a world away from Hollywood: at a private, $5,000 per-night villa in Conchas Chinas, Mexico, as revealed in the new Us Weekly, out now. The occasion? Spears’ 29th birthday Dec. 2 — and her former agent Trawick, 39, surprised the singer with a red-velvet cake shipped from L.A. and much more. The happy duo shrugged off the false abuse rumor for their luxe Puerta Vallarta trip. “They did not allow it to get them down,” an insider tells Us. In fact, Spears tells Us exclusively: “My birthday weekend away with Jason was amazing. Best birthday of my life!”

Haters and rumor mongers be damned, no one is going to take away Britney Spears‘s happy! While I doubt that this weekend away with Jason was truly her “best birthday” ever, I do honestly believe that she is in a very happy place with Jason and that the pair are truly in love. It would be easy for last week’s horrible rumors about Britney to ruin her birthday but she seems to no longer let any of the negativity get her down. She has her children, her boyfriend and her hugely successful music career to keep her satisfied. I’m glad to see Britney looking so happy and relaxed in this photo. Her life is about to get exciting again with the forthcoming release of her next album … she might soon look back on this trip to Mexico as her last moment of peace and quiet.

‘Rolling Stone’ Magazine Picks Their 2010 Album Of The Year

Posted: 08 Dec 2010 07:36 AM PST

With only weeks left of 2010 the annual barrage of Lists of the year’s best music, movies, books, etc. are on the way … and Rolling Stone magazine are getting the party started with the release of their list of the Top 30 Albums of the Year. What is of most interest to me is the Top 10 Albums … particularly, their choice of Album of Year. This year, RS has determined that the best album of 2010 is Kanye West‘s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy:

Kanye West My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy

With My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, Kanye West made music as sprawlingly messy as his life. When he wasn’t feuding with Matt Lauer or bugging out on Twitter, Kanye was building hip-hop epics, songs full of the kind of grandiose gestures that only the foolish attempt and only the wildly talented pull off. The more he piled on — string sections, Elton John piano solos, vocoder freakouts, Bon Iver cameos, King Crimson and Rick James samples — the better the music got. Never has Kanye rhymed so hilariously (“Have you ever had sex with a pharaoh?/I put the pussy in a sarcophagus”) or been so insightful about his relationship-torpedoing faults. From the bracing prog-rock of “Power” to the spooky grandeur of “Runaway” to the shape-shifting “Hell of a Life,” he made all other music seem dimmer and duller. Is the album dark? Sure. Twisted? Of course. But above all, it’s beautiful.

As much as it pains me to agree, Kanye‘s album is truly one of the best releases of the year. Expect to see Fantasy top many Top 10 lists this year and expect to see it featured in many more lists, even if it’s not at the top. Kanye West may act like a douche of epic proportions most of the time but there is no denying that he is incredibly talented. It’s a shame his antics make people shy away from liking his music because if he didn’t act like an ass all of the time, he’d enjoy a lot more love from a lot more people.

After the jump, see which other albums Rolling Stone magazine named as the 10 best of 2010 …

02: The Black Keys Brothers
03. Elton John and Leon Russell The Union
04. Arcade Fire The Suburbs
05. Jamey Johnson The Guitar Song
06. Vampire Weekend Contra
07. Drake Thank Me Later
08. Robert Plant Band of Joy
09. Eminem Recovery
10. LCD Soundsystem This Is Happening

While I don’t agree with most of this Top 10 list complied by Rolling Stone, I do see quite a few of my fave albums of 2010 in their Top 30 list of albums. Click HERE to see the RS list of the 30 Best Albums of 2010 and see if your faves have made the cut. As for Kanye‘s album, do you think it is the best album of 2010? If no, which album is your fave?

Meet Eddy & Nelson Dion-Angélil

Posted: 08 Dec 2010 07:10 AM PST

At the end of October, we learned the joyous news that Canadian chanteuse Céline Dion gave birth to a pair of healthy baby boys that she named Eddy and Nelson. Today we get to meet those cute little babies because they are being introduced to the world on the cover of the new issue of Hello! magazine:

Celine Dion admits it’s hard to find time to sleep and shower these days as she and husband Rene Angelil care for their two-month-old fraternal twin boys, Eddy and Nelson. The superstar singer, who also has a nine-year-old son, Rene-Charles, opens up about motherhood in a new issue of Hello! Canada magazine set to hit newsstands Thursday. “I don’t know how women do it,” she tells Hello! Canada editor-in-chief Alison Eastwood in an interview at the family’s expansive, “tropical-themed” home on Jupiter Island, Fla. “Every day Rene asks, ‘Did you sleep well?’ I’m like, ‘You must be kidding! There is no sleep!” Dion and her twins are featured in a 20-page pictorial spread in the magazine. They also grace the cover, wearing white pyjamas on a bed that is decked out in white linens. Dion, her hair tied back, is smiling at the camera as one of the twins rests in her arms and the other sleeps on the bed beside her. Pyjamas are a staple wardrobe these days, Dion tells Eastwood. “I nurse both babies at the same time … I’m in my pyjamas until lunchtime and there’s no time to shower!” The multiple Grammy Award winner also says the twins are developing personalities. “Nelson is Angelil, Eddy is Dion!” she tells the magazine. Dion, who kicks off her next Las Vegas show on March 15, gave birth to the twins Oct. 23. Nelson is named after South African leader Nelson Mandela and Eddy is for French songwriter Eddy Marnay.

What adorable little boys. It’s no secret that Céline really, really wanted to have another baby … now she’s been blessed with two new babies. Sleep can come later, gurl, this is what you wanted ;) I’m just really happy that Céline‘s story had a happy ending. She endured so much painful loss in her attempt to become a mother again … I’m just happy for her and her entire family. I still think her babies names (Nelson & Eddy) make it sound like they are an early 90′s singing group but I bet they’ll have a very happy life with mommy, daddy and their big brother.
