Miley Cyrus’s Bong Video Woes Gets The Animated Treatment

Miley Cyrus‘s bong smoking video came out on Friday, over the weekend her father Billy Ray Cyrus apologized for her actions and earlier today we learned that Miley has already inspired huge sales of the hallucinogenic herb Salvia … right on cue, the folks at Next Media have released an animated video that chronicles Miley‘s bong video scandal:


In fine fashion, this new video not only covers the bong video but it also makes reference to Miley‘s controversial Vanity Fair photoshoot and the rumors that her mother Tish Cyrus had an extramarital affair with Bret Michaels … leading to her divorce from Billy Ray. Strangely enough, this Taiwanese produced video makes no mention of Miley‘s Asian Eyes photo controversy that went down last year. I guess that wee scandal wasn’t big enough to garner a mention. Mariah Carey Celebrates ‘Christmas in Washington’

The very pregnant Mariah Carey was among the featured performers (alongside Glee‘s Matthew Morrison and host Ellen DeGeneres) at the taping last night of Christmas In Washington. In addition to the holiday music performances, the Obama family was there to help spread the Xmas cheer! Here are a few photos and deets from last night’s taping:

A pregnant and glowing Mariah Carey helped President Barack Obama and his family ring in the holidays Sunday night at the annual ‘Christmas in Washington’ concert. Carey showed off her growing baby bump in a long red dress. She is expecting her first child with husband Nick Cannon. The festivities, hosted by comedian Ellen DeGeneres, took place at the National Building Museum and benefited the Children’s National Medical Center. The entertainers, including Glee star Matthew Morrison, sang Christmas songs and performed for the Obama family — including first lady Michelle, daughters Malia, 12, and Sasha, 9, and First Grandmother Marian Robinson — in a packed auditorium. DeGeneres’ wife Portia de Rossi beamed from her front-row seat by the First Family. At the end the Obamas joined all the evening’s performers on stage for a rendition of ‘Hark! The Herald Angels Sing’ In remarks to the crowd, Obama talked about the story of Jesus’ birth. ‘The story and message speak to us today. We are called to love each other as we love ourselves,’ Obama said from the stage, with his family surrounding him. He cited the tougher circumstances for many people these holidays. ‘We pray for our troops. We remember those who are out of work and struggling to get by,’ Obama said, urging people to show ‘charity, passion and goodwill’ to their neighbors. ‘From our family to yours, happy holidays and Merry Christmas.’ Early in event the Obama family also offered presents from the White House to a group of young children dressed as elves, who placed them under a Christmas tree. ‘Ho, ho, ho. Fantastic elves,’ Obama said as the group posed for pictures. The concert will air Friday on cable channel TNT.

Now, I don’t usually fall for this kind of Xmas schmaltz but I’m so loving how fabulous Mariah Carey looks with her baby bump that I’m gonna hafta tune in this Friday night. Mimi‘s hubby Nick was in the hiz last night but I do not believe he appeared on stage as a performer. He did take some time to pose backstage with Mariah and their burgeoning baby bump. Gwyneth Paltrow Confirms Her Return To ‘Glee’

Gwyneth Paltrow had such a blast making a guest appearance on Glee last month that she is already giddily looking forward to her return to the show. Because Gwyneth‘s appearance was such a success, it was presumed that she might return to the show for a repeat performance. According to Gwyn herself, her return is absolutely certain:

If you loved the sound of Gwyneth Paltrow on Glee, you’re in luck because the actress will be back for more singing and dancing as substitute teacher Holly Holliday. “I’m going to do one more,” the Country Strong star tells Access Hollywood. “I signed up for two … so I’m excited!” Paltrow … says the whole experience of filming an episode of FOX’s hit show was a blast. “Just the incredible challenge of getting off a plane, going to record four songs immediately in one afternoon, and then having to learn all the dance numbers in like 20 minutes,” she says of what she enjoyed about the stint. “I love Ryan Murphy. He’s an old friend of mine and I was just in awe of everybody’s talent and getting to work with Jane Lynch, and Matt Morrison is so adorable and all the kids – it was just great. It was really fun.”

I, for one, LOVED Gwyneth on Glee so I’m among the many folks who were hoping Holly Holliday would make at least one more appearance on the show … so this is great news. To be honest, except for Britney Spears, Gwyneth‘s guest starring role is my fave. I can’t wait to find out under what circumstances Ms. Holliday will return to the halls of William McKinley High School. Are YOU as excited as I am about Gwyneth‘s return to Glee?

Snow Place Like Home

Boy, when it snows here in Detroit … it really snows! Overnight Saturday and all day yesterday the snow just fell and fell and fell dumping MOUNDS of the white stuff all over the place. Thankfully my blizzard conditions driving skills kicked in because I needed to make my way to Ann Arbor, MI to see Tracey and my GROWING goddaughter Zakiya:


Yes, folks … little Princess Zakiya is practically a grown QUEEN now. She’s so big, it’s crazy. Because of the bad weather, it took me a long time to get out to see them and I wasn’t able to stay for very long … be we did have a nice time together. After the jump, check out video of Zakiya singing her school’s fight song (adorable) and see a few more photos that I snapped on my last night in Detroit last night …


Sigh. She is not a baby anymore … damnit. Altho I didn’t get to spend as much time with Tracey and Z as I would’ve liked, I’m thankful that I got to see them at least for a little while.

Late last night, Serigo and I made our way to Ypsilanti to attend the Ghostly International 12 Inches of Christmas soiree:


I am a huge fan of Ghostly music acts so it was quite a treat to listen and dance to some great music. Despite the bitter cold and massive amounts of snow, it was the perfect way to end my trip.

In a few hours, I’ll be winging my way back to the warmth of LA. So … I’ll be comin’ atcha from tomorrow on back home on the West Side.

Sandra Bullock & Louis Bardo Prepare For Their First Xmas Together

We are just about 2 weeks away from Xmas and while many of us are prepping to spend another holiday with our family and friends, actress Sandra Bullock is preparing to celebrate her first Xmas with her baby son Louis Bardo. To get into the fun Xmas spirit, Sandra took a very festive-looking Louis for a pony ride in sunny Santa Monica, CA over the weekend … behold:

It has been a year of incredible highs and lows for Sandra Bullock, but the actress is ending it on a very joyful note as she prepares to celebrate her first Christmas with baby Louis. The 46-year-old actress and her son were seen getting into the festive spirit as they attended a party in Santa Monica yesterday. She doted over the 11-month-old as she chatted with friends and at one point placed a Santa hat on his head. Louis also took a pony ride under the watch of other guests, although he looked a little apprehensive as he sat in the saddle. He seemed much more comfortable on his mother’s hip and the pair eventually headed home after a long day of fun … There are rumours Sandra will reunite with Jesse over the holidays to celebrate Christmas together in Austin. Sandra became very close to his three children Sunny, 7, Jesse Jr., 13, and Chandler, 16, during their marriage and wants Jesse to be involved in Louis’ life. ‘Sandra wants to make sure Louis grows up knowing Jesse's children,’ an insider told In Touch Weekly magazine, ‘so she is willing to put the past behind her for the sake of the kids.’

Louis Bardo is THE cutest little boy ever … I can’t even function properly when I’m looking at pictures of him. He is just the sweetest little thing … with that Santa hat, OY! I can’t even … I also cannot imagine how excited Sandra must be to spend her first Xmas with Louis … something tells me that he is going to get spoiled rotten with love. As for reports that Sandra is planning to spend Xmas with her ex-husband Jesse James, well, I personally do not like it. I can understand and respect Sandra‘s desire to play nice with Jesse for the sake of the kids but there is no way in HELL I would allow my children to be in the vicinity of an overtly racist and untrustworthy person … period. Sandra is a much bigger person than I am in that respect. She is truly an amazing woman to want to spend her time with the children she’s come to love and care for. I sincerely hope they all have themselves a Merry Xmas together.

Whitney Houston Makes A Surprise Appearance At ‘The BET Celebration of Gospel’

Whitney Houston surprised the audience inside The Orpheum Theater in downtown LA last night when she appeared on stage to perform unannounced at this year’s BET Celebration of Gospel event. During Kim Burrell‘s stunning performance, the stage opened up and Whitney came out to duet with her for the song’s second verse … and I understand the audience went WILD for Whitney:

A legendary diva comes out to play! Diva Whitney Houston, who has been rather quite lately, took to the stage and performed at the annual BET Celebration of Gospel show at the Orpheum Theatre in LA over the weekend. The show hosted by king of comedy's Steve Harvey saw the 47-year-old perform her R. Kelly written and produced anthem 'I Look To You' with the amazing gospel/jazz talent Kim Burrell. Other performances included Kirk Franklin, Mary Mary, El Debarge, The Rance Allen Group, Kelly Price and Chaka Khan. According to reviews, Whitney vocally smashed her performance! We will have to wait and see when the show airs on January 30th, 2011! It's good to see a more voluptuous Ms Whit looking well. Our favourite powerhouse has come under a lot of criticism for her weight gain but at her age, I think she looks great!

I concur, Whitney looks FANTASTIC! It’s a shame that we haven’t heard much from our dear Whitney in the months since she wrapped her international concert tour. I was hoping that she would at least perform a couple of shows here in the US but my guess is that all of the vicious attacks on her international tour squashed any desire for her to perform an entire concert here at home. Still, I’m very glad to hear that Whitney is doing so well … it is my understanding that she brought the house down at the BET Celebration of Gospel last night. I’m gonna hafta tune in on January 30 to watch my girl perform on the show. She looks great, no?

Jordan Bratman & Max Liron Bond In Venice, CA

While mommy/soon-to-be ex-wife Christina Aguilera is traveling the world with her new boyfriend Matthew Rutler while she promotes her new film Burlesque, daddy Jordan Bratman is holding down the fort at home back in SoCal with his son Max Liron. Jordy and Max spent part of their weekend chillin’ together in Venice, CA … and it looked like they had a fantastic time together:


It is very clear that Jordy loves his son very much and he looks like a very attentive, very loving father. I sincerely hope that things don’t get nasty in his divorce with Xtina because it would be a travesty if Max, for whatever reason, was not allowed to spend as much time as possible with his father. Things seem kosher now because Xtina is bizzy with work, flying all around the world … but once she’s settled back at home, I hope Jordan and Max are able to hang out whenever they want to. I’ve always liked Jordan Bratman … he seems like a very good man.

Meet Nicole Richie & Joel Madden’s Extra Special Wedding Guest

On Saturday, Nicole Richie and Joel Madden got themselves hitched in SoCal in front of an intimate group of the couple’s close family and friends. Guests included Joel‘s brothers Josh Madden and Benji Madden along with their mother and sister Sarah Madden. On Nicole‘s side, celeb friends like Ashlee Simpson, Khloe Kardashian and Rachel Zoe (whose baby bump is finally starting to protrude) were in attendance. It turns out that there was an extra special guest in the hiz who was lucky enough to bear witness to the wedding of Nic/Joel … an elephant named Tai:


Because neither official photos nor official details from the wedding have yet been released, we’re not quite sure what role Tai the Elephant played during the ceremony … but I can’t wait to find out. Did Nicole ride down the aisle happily astride Tai? Was Joel handed the wedding ring from Tai‘s trunk? Was Tai responsible for ejecting unruly guests? The possibilities are endless. My guess is that we will know this week what Tai the Elephant was doing at Nic/Joel‘s wedding when the official photographs get published by the highest bidder ;)

Miley Cyrus Inspires Sales Of Hallucinogenic Salvia Herb

Last week we got our first look at video of 18-year old Miley Cyrus smoking a water bong and it was widely reported that she and her friends were smoking a legal-in-some-States hallucinogenic natural herb called Salvia. Over the weekend, Miley‘s father Billy Ray Cyrus tweeted his disapproval over his daughter’s actions. Today we learn from TMZ that sales of Salvia have shot up considerably since that Miley video was released … clearly, as a product spokesperson, Miley can still get her fans to buy the things she endorses:

Miley Cyrus is now the inadvertent celebrity endorser of salvia — because ever since that video of her smoking a bong full of it came out … we’re told sales of the herbal drug are sky high. According to people who deal, legally, in salvia divinorum … sales have increased since Friday — in some cases up to 3 times the usual tally. TMZ spoke with several head shops in the Los Angeles area and we’re told — not only have sales jumped — but many of the customers specifically asked for “the stuff Miley was smoking” … While Miley’s experimentation is generating curiosity in the hallucinogen — one smoke shop employee tells us, “Salvia is one of those things that you only try once because it is so intense.” Another impact of the Miley video — as we reported — is renewed discussion about banning salvia in California. It is already illegal in 15 states.

None of this should be at all surprising to anyone. While so many people are quick to condone Miley‘s actions as “legal” because she’s “an adult now”, it’s very obvious that she wields quite a bit of sway over not only her fans but pretty much anyone who’s ever heard her name. People see the video of Miley having a blast smoking this stuff and then they think, Hey, I wanna have a good time, too. It’s very true that Miley Cyrus is free to do whatever legal thing she wants but young kids are very smart … they hear a lot … especially when it comes to people they look up to and admire. It’d be a terrible shame if young kids, not old enough to smoke anything legally, got their hands on this stuff and ended up hurting themselves just because Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montanan did it first.
