‘Saturday Night Live’ Releases Jeff Bridges Promo Videos

Posted: 15 Dec 2010 02:30 PM PST

Jeff Bridges will be hosting Saturday Night Live this weekend and NBC just released the promo videos for the upcoming episode. Here are a few screencaps from the vids:

The clips are cute (nice Tron shout-out) and worth checking out. I’m really looking forward to the ep because both Eminem and Lil’ Wayne are performing as musical guests. Unfortch, neither of them are featured in the promo vids … but there is a lot of Jeff Bridges. Check out the vids, after the jump …

Last week’s ep with Paul Rudd and Paul McCartney was pretty OK. The Kissing Family skit was the best of the bunch. Here’s hoping this week’s ep with Jeff Bridges will bring the funny as well. Can’t wait!!

Lance Bass Cuddles Up With A New Dude

Posted: 15 Dec 2010 02:12 PM PST

When last we heard about Lance Bass and any dude he might be dating, he was rumored to have been attached to Marc Jacobs‘s ex Lorenzo Martone … before that, he was rumored to be romancing ex-Queer Eye for the Straight Guy style guru Kyan Douglas. Today we learn that Lance is now dating a guy simply known as Brent … and that they’ve been happily together since Hallowe’en:

Lance Bass is in a new romantic relationship, RadarOnline.com has learned exclusively. The heartthrob singer has been dating a handsome guy named Brent since meeting at a party in October. “They met at the [L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center's] Halloweenie party at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery,” a source told RadarOnline.com exclusively. Since the October 23 bash, Lance and Brent “have been dating ever since.” According to the source, Brent moved to Los Angeles from Dallas and recently got out of a long-term relationship. Nothing helps a broken heart like making a love connection with a hunky star! “He seems to be happy, happy in love with Lance,” the source added. “Brent is a super sweet guy.

Wow. It’s been almost 2 months and Lance is still with this Brent guy? That’s gotta be some kind of new record for the former boy bander. It’s not uncommon for Lance to keep more than one guy on retainer at any given time so the fact that he’s finally “settled down” with one guy is … momentous. This Brent guy reminds me a lot of Lance‘s ex-boyfriend Pedro Andrade … and we know those two dated for a few months back in 2007. Has Cupid finally worked his magic on Lance Bass? Time will tell …

Mark Wahlberg & Christian Bale Do ‘Sports Illustrated’ Magazine

Posted: 15 Dec 2010 01:32 PM PST

Marky Mark Wahlberg and his co-star Christian Bale, who both star in the new film The Fighter, are featured on the cover of the new issue of Sports Illustrated magazine. Wahlberg and Bale are among the lucky few non-athletes to nab an SI coverphoto … and they are very proud to have been chosen for the honor:

Mark Wahlberg not only received glowing reviews for his undertstated performance as the real-life junior welterweight Mickey Ward in The Fighter, but he unexpectedly landed a national magazine cover. Sports Illustrated features the actor, 39, stripped down to fighter gear, and lauds the film as the “Best Sports Movie of the Decade.” This also marks one of the rare times in the 56-year history of the publication that a non-athlete has graced the cover. Wahlberg’s Fighter costar, Christian Bale (who plays Mickey’s older half-brother and trainer, Dickie Eklund), poses with him. “As somebody who always dreamed of being a professional athlete,” Wahlberg says, “to be on the cover of Sports Illustrated is an amazing accomplishment.” In fact, it’s a knockout.

I’ve heard enough buzz about this film to make me want to see The Fighter. My initial reaction is that it would be exactly like The Wrestler but with boxing … but I cannot ignore all the great things I’m hearing about the film. I have no doubt that Christian Bale gives a stellar performance but I’m weary of Marky Mark. In my opinion, he always plays the same character in every film he does … and The Fighter looks like no exception. Still, I think I’ll have to see the film and judge for myself if all the hype is valid or not.

Trent Reznor Talks To Tavis Smiley About ‘The Social Network’ Soundtrack

Posted: 15 Dec 2010 12:54 PM PST

Hot on the heels of his Golden Globe nomination for Best Score, Trent Reznor made an appearance on Tavis Smiley on PBS last night to discuss his work on The Social Network soundtrack and to explain how its creation has inspired him to create even more music. Smiley even made it clear at the start of the interview that Nine Inch Nails “will continue to record” new music in the wake of this new inspiration. Here are a few screencaps from Trent‘s interview with Tavis Smiley as well as some deets from their chat itself:

Trent Reznor’s score for The Social Network was nominated for a Golden Globe — not just his first Golden Globe nomination, but also his first work on a film score ever. In an interview with PBS’ Tavis Smiley last night, Reznor said he initially turned down director David Fincher’s offer to score the film — he’d just gotten married and finished touring — but he also said a lack of confidence prevented him from accepting the offer right away. “It took a long time in the ’90s to get my act together,” he said. “Jump ahead to this past decade and I got sober and I worked on myself and the act of creativity became something I looked forward to now instead of dreading.” He added: “At the time when fame presented itself to me, I was not at a point in my own life where I was equipped to deal with it. I had a built-in sense of not being good enough that I’ve carried with me from wherever it’s come from, and an easy way to fit in was to self-medicate… Twenty years into making music, the soundtrack has been a breath of fresh air.” And while the Reznor who sat down with Smiley was, for the most part, worlds away from the guy who wrote “Hurt” nearly 20 years ago, his old self peeked out at the end of the interview. “To be frank, seeing the accolades that are coming in for the film has been a great experience,” he said. “So, there’s nowhere to go but down from here!”

This is only the start of a bunch of great things professionally for Trent Reznor and The Social Network. As a huge fan of his music, I may be a bit biased … but from the first moment I heard the music he crafted with Atticus Ross for The Social Network, I knew that it was bound for accolade and acclaim. This interview with Reznor showcases his classic conversational nature and enlightens a bit more of the man that has been pretty private for most of his career. After the jump, check out video of Trent Reznor‘s full interview with Tavis Smiley and see for yourselves …

Great interview … I am just so happy for TR!! I am really looking forward to congratulating him on winning a few awards this Awards Season. I don’t want to jinx anything but … something tells me we’ll be sending him our congrats on at least one BIG award :)

Close Enough To ‘Normal’

Posted: 15 Dec 2010 12:22 PM PST

Last night David and I made our way to the Ahmanson Theatre in downtown LA to see a performance of the touring version of the Tony and Pulitzer prize winning musical Next to Normal. Altho I first saw the show on Broadway back in August of 2009, I was really excited to be able to see the show again here in LA:

David is a huge fan of the show so he was really excited to see it again. Alice Ripley, the actress who originated the lead role on Broadway (and won a Tony award for her work), is featured in this touring cast and she is joined by a fantastic group of actors. I was really impressed with all of them, especially Emma Hunton who plays Natalie the daughter. For those of you who don’t know, Next to Normal tells the tale of a family that has to deal with a mother’s frantic bi-polar disorder. I know it doesn’t sound like the kind of fare you’d get from a stage musical but the story is not only compelling, it’s riveting and truly heartfelt. The show is here in LA until January 2, it’s a deffo must see for all Broadway musical fans.

Tonight, I’m hoping to meet up with Darion for dinner/movie/hanging out … other than that, things are gonna be pretty quite around here. I hope your Wednesday is going well!! Happy Hump Day!!

‘Jersey Shore’ Season 3 Releases A New Cast Photo

Posted: 15 Dec 2010 10:50 AM PST

Last week we got our first look at the first promo pics released for Jersey Shore season 3. Today we get our first look at a new JS3 promo photo of the entire cast … and from the looks on their faces, they seem about as bored with the show as I am:

It is becoming increasingly clear that pretty much everyone is already over Jersey Shore … including the Jersey Shore cast themselves. My guess is that the cast is trying to look “serious” in this photo but they, instead, all look like they could give two shits about anything. If I’m bored with the show and the JS cast is bored with the show … what is my incentive to watch season 3? Anyone?

Gwyneth Paltrow Gets A Star On The Hollywood Walk Of Fame

Posted: 15 Dec 2010 10:24 AM PST

Actress Gwyneth Paltrow, who stars in the new film Country Strong and has promised a return appearance on Glee, was honored with her very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Monday. Gwyneth was joined by BFFs Tim McGraw and Faith Hill at her tribute ceremony … here are a few photos and deets from the event:

Oscar-winner Gwyneth Paltrow has been honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Faith Hill and Tim McGraw were on hand Monday to help Paltrow celebrate the unveiling of her star on the sidewalk outside Madame Tussauds celebrity wax museum. The unveiling comes in advance of the Dec. 22 release in Los Angeles and Nashville of Paltrow’s new film, “Country Strong,” co-starring McGraw. It opens nationwide on Jan. 7. Paltrow won the best actress Academy Award for her role in 1998′s “Shakespeare in Love.” The 38-year-old actress also had roles in the “Iron Man” movies, “Two Lovers,” “The Good Night,” “Proof,” “Sylvia,” “The Talented Mr. Ripley,” “The Royal Tenenbaums,” “Emma,” and “Jefferson in Paris.”

Aww … congrats to Gwynnie. It’s a shame that neither her husband Chris Martin nor her children Apple Blythe Alison or Moses Bruce Anthony were in attendance at this special ceremony but at least Tim and Faith were there to share the day with her. As I understand it, Gwyneth‘s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony was the last of 2010 … which makes her star even more special. Let’s send our love and congrats to Gwyneth on receiving the 2,427th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Janet Jackson’s Greatest Hits Tour Kicks Off In February

Posted: 15 Dec 2010 09:53 AM PST

Last month we learned that Janet Jackson will be embarking on a 35 city world tour next year in celebration of her 35 Number One songs and today we get our first look at the poster artwork for Janet‘s new tour. Jackson is letting fans around the world determine the cities she will visit on tour and Hong Kong has been chosen as the site of the Valentine’s Day concert:

Look out, world: Janet Jackson is coming to a city near you. The legendary pop star has announced her largest-ever world tour to celebrate her 35 chart-topping hits in 35 different cities across the world. Hong Kong has been voted by fans as the kick-off city, where she will perform tracks exclusively from her greatest hits collection Number Ones. The Rhythm Nation leader will launch the tour at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on February 14, with subsequent dates to be announced soon. "The fans really reached out and voted for Hong Kong to be the Valentine's Day city of our Number Ones tour. I am thrilled to receive your votes and I will be performing in Hong Kong Feb 14, 2011!" wrote Janet on her website. Ahead of the tour's start, Janet will be celebrating the release of her upcoming book True You, hitting stores February 8. The singer's first book will take readers into her lifelong struggle with weight and exercise, meant to inspire those who need to improve their self-esteem.

As you may recall, Janet promised that she will dedicate one of her 35 Number One songs to each of the 35 cities she will visit … so each concert will be special and unique. I’ve never seen Janet Jackson live in concert and David is a HUGE JJ fan so we are deffo planning to see her when she performs here in SoCal (because, undoubtedly, Janet will play a concert in SoCal). Her tour kicks off in only 2 short months … are y’all ready?

‘People’ Magazine Names Sandra Bullock As The 2010 Woman Of The Year

Posted: 15 Dec 2010 09:30 AM PST

While Time magazine selected Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg as their Person of the Year, People magazine decided to name Sandra Bullock the Woman of the Year for 2010. Sandra graces the cover of the new issue of People magazine (the very issue that will feature Nicole Richie and Joel Madden‘s wedding photos) which is devoted to the 25 Most Intriguing People of the year. Here is Sandy‘s coverphoto and some deets about her new title of Woman of the Year:

For Sandra Bullock, 2010 was the year that changed everything: She became a mother to son Louis, ended her five-year marriage to Jesse James and reached new career heights with her emotional Oscar win for The Blind Side. It’s only fitting, then, that the superstar, 46, scored the top spot as Woman of the Year in PEOPLE’s new Year-End issue. Of the actress’s life-altering 2010, says a source, “Bad things happen, but she celebrates the good ones. And Louis is a wonderful celebration of good things.”

Sandra Bullock‘s year was full of the highest highs and the lowest lows … but in the end, as a new mother to her son Louis Bardo, it’s clear that 2010 has been the best year of her life. Despite the horrible things she endured from her cheating slime of an ex-husband, Sandra has managed to revel in professional accolades and personal triumphs. IMHO, Sandra is the perfect woman to bear the title of Woman of the Year. After the jump, find out some of the other folks who made People magazine’s list of the 25 Most Intriguing People of 2010 …

Bret Michaels (the Ultimate Survivor), who survived a near-fatal brain hemorrhage in April: “I don’t want my legacy to be a hemorrhage,” he tells PEOPLE. “I want it to be: I’m a fighter, I’m passionate, I’m hardworking and I love music.”

Kate Middleton and Prince William (the Royal Couple), who captured the world’s imaginations with news of their engagement and preparations for their upcoming April nuptials.

Elin Nordegrin (the Class Act), who showed grace and poise following her split from husband Tiger Woods in the wake of his cheating scandal.

Wanna find out who else made the list? You’re gonna hafta pick up this special issue of People magazine. I’m quite curious to see who else made the People list this year. Who would you like to see listed among the magazine’s 25 Most Intriguing People?

Nicole Richie & Joel Madden Share Their Wedding Photos With ‘People’ Magazine

Posted: 15 Dec 2010 08:42 AM PST

Last weekend, Nicole Richie and Joel Madden got married in a lavish yet intimate ceremony at the Richie mansion in Beverly Hills, CA and today we get our first look at the first wedding photo released from the nuptials. As you may recall, Nic/Joel sold their wedding photos to the highest bidder and plan to donate the money to their favorite charity. Today we learn that People magazine was the highest bidder … behold:

Ever since she was a little girl, there were two things Nicole Richie wanted on the day she married: a show-stopper dress inspired by Grace Kelly’s iconic wedding gown, and a real live elephant for good luck. Both her wishes came true as she married Good Charlotte rocker Joel Madden at her father Lionel Richie’s home on Dec. 11. They tied the knot in front of their children – Harlow, 2, was the flower girl, while 15-month-old Sparrow was the ring-bearer – under a tent transformed to resemble a French garden. “It was magical,” Richie, 29, tells PEOPLE. Adds Madden, 31: “It was the best night of my life.”

The night was so magical that Nicole couldn’t wear just one wedding dress … she had to wear 3 different Marchesa dresses. The dress featured above was made out of 100 yards of hand-draped silk organza and tulle petals. As far as I know, Joel wore only one tuxedo … but if I know my boy Joel, he rocked that bad boy right! All of the photos from Nicole and Joel‘s wedding will be featured in the new issue of People magazine, on stands this week. I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy … I want to see more.

Hulk Hogan & Jennifer McDaniel Got Hitched!

Posted: 15 Dec 2010 08:24 AM PST

Hulk Hogan (neé Terry Bollea) is a married man once again because he and his girlfriend Jennifer McDaniel‘s (who bears a striking and, IMHO, very creepy resemblance to his daughter Brooke Hogan) got themselves married on a beach in Clearwater, FL yesterday. As you might imagine, Hulk Hogan‘s wedding didn’t go down without a bit of a ruckus but the I Dos were said … and Hulk and Jennifer are now hitched!

It figures … only Hulk Hogan’s wedding would require a referee — TMZ has learned cops were called when a brawl broke out in the middle of the nuptials this evening in Florida. Sources at the wedding tell us a photographer was trying to snap shots of Hulk and his bride-to-be, Jennifer McDaniel, during the ceremony in their backyard — which happens to be on the beach in Clearwater. We’re told a family employee told the photog to beat it — and then the scuffle broke out just as Hulk and Jennifer were saying their vows. Classic. Cops were called, but no one was arrested — since no one wanted to press charges — and the ceremony continued …right through Hulk and Jennifer’s ‘I dos.’

And so … a new Mrs. Hulk Hogan has been selected. As you may recall, Hulk and his former wife Linda Bollea divorced shortly after their son Nick Bollea was involved in a near-deadly accident that left one of Nick‘s friends in a vegetative state. Almost as soon as they split, they each hooked up with new partners … both much younger than both Hulk and Linda. Hulk finally married his new partner but it remains to be seen if Linda will do the same. I suppose congratulations are order for Hulk Hogan and his new wife Jennifer … right?

‘Time’ Magazine Selects Mark Zuckerberg As The 2010 Person Of The Year

Posted: 15 Dec 2010 07:38 AM PST

Mark Zuckerberg, the former Harvard University student who created the world’s most popular social networking site Facebook, has been selected as Time magazine’s Person of the Year for 2010. As we are all well aware, the founding of Facebook has been immortalized in one of the year’s best films, The Social Network (which was nominated for a Golden Globe award yesterday) … which, IMHO, took the booming website to a whole new level of public consciousness. In that context, it’s very easy to see how Time decided name Zuckerberg the 2010 Person of the Year:

Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg has been named Time’s “Person of the Year” for 2010, joining the ranks of winners that include heads of state and rock stars as the person the magazine believes most influenced events of the past year. At 26, Zuckerberg is the youngest “Person of the Year” since the first one chosen, Charles Lindbergh; he was 25 when he was named in 1927, Time said Wednesday. Zuckerberg beat out Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II by just two weeks: She was 26 when she was named in 1952. Incidentally, Queen Elizabeth II has recently joined Zuckerberg’s social networking behemoth. Time’s “Person of the Year” is the person or thing that has most influenced the culture and the news during the past year for good or for ill. Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke received the honor last year. The 2008 winner was then-President-elect Barack Obama. The 2007 winner was Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin. Other previous winners have included Bono, President George W. Bush, and Amazon.com CEO and founder Jeff Bezos. In naming Zuckerberg, Time cited him “for changing how we all live our lives.”

It is really mind-boggling to think about how much Mark Zuckerberg has effected the way we interact in the Internet age. Millions and millions of people exchange personal information with one another every second of every day on Facebook. It is the single most popular website in the world … and it all started as a lark on one fated booze-infused night at Harvard University. It’s just … insane. After the jump, check out a few photos of Zuckerberg from this Person of the Year issue of Time and read more about how he was selected and what he thinks of the honor …

Zuckerberg has put himself on the map not only as one of the world’s youngest billionaires, but also as a prominent newcomer to the world of philanthropy. Earlier this year, he pledged $100 million over five years to the Newark, N.J. school system. Now, he’s in the company of media titans Carl Icahn Barry Diller and others who have joined Giving Pledge, an effort led by Microsoft founder Bill Gates and investor Warren Buffett to commit the country’s wealthiest people to step up their charitable donations. Zuckerberg owns about a quarter of Facebook’s shares. Zuckerberg has built Facebook into an international phenomenon by stretching the lines of social convention and embracing a new and far more permeable definition of community. In this new world, users are able to construct a social network well beyond what would ever be possible face-to-face. “I’m trying to make the world a more open place,” Zuckerberg says in the “bio” line of his own Facebook page. Born in Zuckerberg’s Harvard dorm room, the site has in six years grown to more than 500 million users worldwide and a dollar worth in the billions … In a posting on his Facebook page, Zuckerberg said Wednesday that being named Time’s “Person of the Year” was “a real honor and recognition of how our little team is building something that hundreds of millions of people want to use to make the world more open and connected. I’m happy to be a part of that.”

Click HERE to read the online version of Time‘s coverstory article on Zuckerberg to get the full scoop. What do y’all think of Time‘s Person of the Year selection this year? Did they get it right? Do YOU agree that Mark Zuckerberg is the Person of the Year for 2010? If not, who do you think should’ve received the honor?
