Mariah Carey Is Happy Her Baby Is Being Born In Diverse Times!

Posted: 04 Dec 2010 10:40 AM PST

mariah-carey-happy-that-her-baby-growing-up-in-progressive-time

Such a lovely sentiment! And she's very much correct!

Mariah Carey recently opened up about her pregnancy, and revealed that she's pleased that we live in a time now where people are accepted, even though their parents may be from mixed heritage!

She explains:

"Having Obama in office and bringing a child into the world at this point is totally different than me feeling like an outcast when I was growing up and not feeling like it was okay to be ethnically diverse, and I can't believe that we have arrived at this point within society. I think it's a little bit easier now because the world has changed just in terms of identifying yourself. That always felt like a strange thing to me as a child, not looking the same as your own mother of father was a very different thing back then."

Very well-spoken!

But we think it's important to keep in mind that although we've grown leaps and bounds in that respect, there is still quite a bit of prejudice and hate in the world, and we must continue to fight for EVERYONE'S equality!

We're getting there! But we need to stay vigilant, and fight for what's right!

Another Villain Added To New Spider-Man movie!

new villain announced for spider man movie

Lots of news about comic book movie villains these days!

First, The Joker and Harvey Dent/Two-Face are taken out of The Dark Knight Rises, and now Spider-Man's got yet another villain to contend with in the upcoming Spidey flick!

Slumdog Millionaire's Irrfan Khan has signed on to the film as a villain named Van Atter, and his wife will be played by Annie Parisse from AMC's Rubicon. It looks like Khan's character may be a brand new villain…or perhaps a cover-name for another pre-existing villain?

Along with "Van Atter," Spidey will also be taking on Rhys Ifans as Dr. Curt Connors/"The Lizard."

Certainly would be an inneresting and controversial decision to reboot the franchise with a villain who wasn't even in the comics! But we're thinking this character will have a link to a pre-existing character in one way or another.

What do U think about this villain choice for the new Spider-Man?

Black Swan's Darren Aronofsky Still Wants To Make Robocop Movie

darren aronofsky still wants to make a robocop movie

Now that Darren Aronofsky's Black Swan is in theaters, he'll be moving onto new projects, and one that he's interested in pursuing is the Robocop reboot, which was cancelled back in July due to MGM's financial troubles.

Here's what Darren had to say about the Robocop reboot:

"Well, 'RoboCop' may still happen one day, who knows? It's MGM and hopefully they'll clear their stuff up and I'm still interested. David Self wrote a great script, but the company went under so…"

Given the fact that the new Bond movie is currently in the process of rising from the ashes, we're thinking maybe we'll hear more Robocop news sooner than later…especially since Darren is still innerested in the project!

In the meanwhile, he's got a similar project in the works, called Machine Man, which is based on Australian writer Max Barry's online serial and upcoming book about "a geek who equips himself with high-end parts."

Guess we'll see what happens with Darren and all of these machine-related projects in the works. Maybe he can do a Wrestler sequel, where Randy "The Ram" returns to the ring…to fight robots!

Dreamworks Animation Goes Sequel Crazy!

dreamworks animation goes sequel crazy

Those of us out there who have been thinking that they should release several more Kung Fu Panda movies should get ready to celebrate…because it's happening!

While we'd also be innerested in seeing some new animated projects from Dreamworks, the studio's Animation chief Jeffrey Katzenberg has decided to focus a lot of the company's energy on making lots of sequels to their existing popular franchises.

Here's Jeffrey on the future of Madagascar:

"So today I can tell you pretty succinctly where Madagascar goes. Ultimately they will come back to New York, and they will come to terms with that, which they will do in this next chapter. Because of the way that movie concludes there's probably one more for them. Yeah, there's probably a fourth there."

And here's the Animation chief on the future of Kung Fu Panda and How To Train Your Dragon:

"Kung Fu Panda actually has 6 chapters to it, and we've mapped that out over the years. How To Train Your Dragon is at least three: maybe more, but we know there are a least three chapters to that story. There are actually 8 books."

Well, we're sure you'll make lots of $$$ with these sequels, Dreamworks, but doesn't it bother you a bit that it's going to take 6 Kung Fu Pandas to tell your full story, whereas Disney/Pixar's Up did it in 96 minutes? Just sayin'!

Are U excited for tons of sequels from Dreamworks Animation movies? Or does this seem like overkill?
