Christian Bale Reveals How Excited He Is To Work With Tom Hardy In ‘The Dark Knight Rises’

Posted: 07 Dec 2010 02:48 PM PST

Speaking with MTV on the red carpet at the Hollywood premiere of The Fighter last night, Christian Bale gushed his excitement at the prospect of getting to work with actor Tom Hardy in the upcoming sequel film Batman: The Dark Knight Rises. As you may know, Hardy as been reportedly cast as Batman villain Hugo Strange in the upcoming film … and Bale is gettin’ all amped to face this new foe in head-to-head combat in the film:

“I liked him in ‘Inception’ and I did see ‘Bronson’ as well,” said Christian Bale — Bruce Wayne/Batman himself — in a recent interview with MTV News. “He seems like he’s a balls-out actor.” When we asked Bale if he was looking forward to Hardy as an opponent, he answered, “Yeah, sounds good.” Did Bale confirm that Hardy will in fact be a villain in “The Dark Knight Rises”? Did the “opponent” part of our question breeze right by Bale? While Bale left the door slightly open to returning for a fourth “Batman” flick, he seemed fairly convinced that “The Dark Knight Rises” will be his and Nolan’s final installment in the DC Comics franchise. “I think so. That’s up to Chris,” he said. “That was always what the discussion was. But you know, if Chris says, ‘I see another story here,’ then we’ll be up for it. But in my mind, I’m expecting this will be it.” Of course, there’s always the fanciful hope that Bale and Nolan will reunite a few decades from now for an adaptation of Frank Miller’s “The Dark Knight Returns,” which tells the story of a 55-year-old Bruce Wayne who comes out of retirement to become the Caped Crusader once again. “That maybe would not be bad,” Bale laughed of the idea. “Maybe in 20 years time, but you need that break.”

I’m prolly just as excited if not MORE excited by the prospect of these two fine hunks of beef going at it together in the new Batman film. I’m not sure if there is room in Christopher Nolan‘s script for any shirtless wrestling BALLS-OUT scenes between Bale and Hardy but … MMMMMM … wouldn’t that be nice?

Angelina Jolie Takes The Kiddies Shopping For Art Supplies

Posted: 07 Dec 2010 02:32 PM PST

On Sunday we saw cute photos of Angelina Jolie, pseudo hubby Brad Pitt and their twin babies Vivienne Marcheline and Knox Léon doing a bit of shopping in NYC together … and today we learn it’s the other kids’ turn. Ange escorted Pax Thien, Zahara Marley and Shiloh Nouvel to Lee’s Art Store in Midtown Manhattan earlier today to pick up a few more things:

Brangelina must really love this shop … it looks like they pay a visit each and every time they come to NYC. No matter how late Angelina worked last night promoting her new film, she made sure to save some time to be with her kids today. There may be a lot of small people out there who are happy to hurl pretty bad insults at her but in the end, Angelina has the last laugh. A mother with this many beautiful children will always come out on top when challenged by miserable haters.

The Apple iPad 2 Is Rumored To Be Released In February

Posted: 07 Dec 2010 02:11 PM PST

Last month we heard a rumor that the second generation iPad is due for release in the first quarter of 2011. Today the rumor has been updated with the claim that the device will ship to consumers sometime in February … read on:

Apple Inc’s next iPad tablet will start shipping as early as the end of February from electronics maker Foxconn Electronics’ factories in China, DigiTimes reported on Tuesday. The report, citing unnamed sources from Taiwan-based components makers, said Apple originally planned to start mass production of the new device, known as iPad 2, in January. Those plans were postponed since the device’s firmware, or set of software instructions that are programmed into the device’s hardware, was still being tested, according to the report. The iPad 2 will mainly be supplied by plants in Shenzhen belonging to Foxconn, the parent company of Hon Hai (2317.TW), DigiTimes reported. An initial shipment of 400,000 to 600,000 units are expected. An Apple spokesman declined to comment.

Now, take all of this with a grain of salt … but this source has been absolutely right before and it’s very possible (likely, even) that they are right again. The timing is about right so I’m willing to bet that the iPad 2 will be available in about 2 months time. We’ve still yet to hear what upgrades the new iPad will feature … I’d expect those rumors to start spreading soon. If all of this is correct, the folks at Apple should be dishing the deets next month.

‘The Fighter’ Premieres In Hollywood

Posted: 07 Dec 2010 02:00 PM PST

Marky Mark Wahlberg, Christian Bale and Amy Adams were joined by a select group of guests at Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood, CA last night for the LA premiere of their new film The Fighter. Here are a few photos from the red carpet arrivals:

I’m totally not feeling Christian‘s curly curls … at all. Marky Mark looked pretty good all clean cut and handsome. The Fighter smells to me like it’s trying to be this year’s The Wrestler. To be honest, Wahlberg plays the same character in almost every film so I’m thinkin’ I might have to take a pass on this one. If I do decide to check it out, it’ll be because I love Christian Bale‘s work (curly hair, notwithstanding). I’m not sure I’m all that interested in watching a movie about a down and out fighter who battles his way back to the top of the heap. Meh. It’s been done to death. Still … as I said, Bale is a big draw. Is this movie for you? Will you be paying out the $$$ to see The Fighter in theaters?

Britney Spears Does A Bit Of Solo Xmas Shopping

Posted: 07 Dec 2010 01:45 PM PST

Over the weekend, our dear Britney Spears jetted down to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico to enjoy a romantic birthday getaway with her beau Jason Trawick … but homegirl is already back home here in SoCal. Earlier today we learned that she posed yesterday for a new photoshoot with Mario Testino … and right now we get to see a couple photos of Britney out and about in LA doing a bit of solo shopping:

While Brit Brit doesn’t look all that happy (or interested) in shopping, it’s nice to see her getting in some alonetime. My guess is that she was doing a bit of shopping for her man Jason … or maybe for herself. Whatever the case may be, homegirl is workin’, playin’ and shoppin’. All of that sounds really good to me.

The ‘Savage’ Beast

Posted: 07 Dec 2010 01:13 PM PST

Last night David and I were invited to the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood, CA for a screening event for Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series … which is about to introduce a new villain on the series. Darth Maul may have been killed in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace but his brother Savage Oppress lives on in the animated series The Clone Wars:

Three new episodes, written by Katie Lucas (daughter of the master George Lucas himself), were screened last night on the big screen and it really felt like an entire Star Wars movie. After the jump, check out some promo stills from the eps and read more about the villainous Savage Oppress

I’m familiar with The Clone Wars but I don’t watch it religiously … I think I’m gonna start now, tho. I was so impressed with how well the series has evolved that I can’t wait to see more eps. Katie Lucas is a very talented writer, I’m also very much looking forward to seeing more of her work in action. Check out the trailer for these new eps of Star Wars: The Clone Wars:

The biggest boon for me last night, tho, was finally getting to meet Bonnie Burton from Lucas Arts. She and I have been Twitter friends for months so it was a thrill getting to meet her last night. We didn’t get to hang out nearly enough so I’m already looking forward to the next time I get to see her :)

Totally random … a half block up the street on Hollywood Blvd, the Church of Scientology put up an L. Ron Hubbard Winter Wonderland display … complete with a real Santa Claus for picture taking:

People, it was the most bizarre thing I’ve ever seen in Hollywood … but I don’t want to talk too much smack for fear that Xenu will take me away (Hail, Xenu!). But, if you’re in the area and are curious, check out L. Ron Hubbard’s Winter Wonderland on Hollywood Blvd and enjoy the fun for yourselves! Who knows, mebbe you’ll run into Tom Cruise?

Plans for tonight involve packing for my Detroit trip tomorrow. Wee!!

‘The Tourist’ Premieres In NYC

Posted: 07 Dec 2010 11:48 AM PST

Back in February we got our first look at Angelina Jolie in Venice, Italy on the set of her new film The Tourist … then in March, we learned that her co-star Johnny Depp joined her on the Tourist set. Today, less than a year later, we learn that The Tourist held it’s first premiere in NYC, NY last night at the Ziegfeld Theatre and managed to attract a fairly impressive group of guests … behold:

It’s crazy how quickly this movie got made. In all honesty, it doesn’t look like something I really want to see. I’ve seen the trailer a few times and I just can’t get over the bad accents (by both Ange and Johnny) and cheesy spy element that they are going for. Angelina‘s Salt was a great spy film, this does not look even half that good. BUT … there are a lot of Jolie/Depp fans out there so … it may do well. Are any of y’all planning on seeing this movie when it opens this weekend?

Salem Does ‘The New York Times Style’ Magazine

Posted: 07 Dec 2010 11:24 AM PST

My new favorite band Salem is featured in the new issue of The New York Times Style magazine in a high end fashion shoot that belies everything that the waaaaay indie band represents. I got into Salem earlier this year when I stumbled upon some of their incredibly scary music online and immediately fell in love. The band’s music is pretty undefinable tho the term WitchHouse has been used a bit when describing their sound (think electronic/punk/horror/grunge/noise/Hell). When I found out that Salem hails from Northern Michigan, my love intensified. Here is what the band looks like as featured in their very expensive clothing in NYT Style magazine:

Photograph by Sebastian Kim. Fashion Editor: Andreas Kokkino. Hair by Andre Gunn at the Wall Group. Makeup by Stevie Huynh at the Wall Group. Fashion assistants: Adam Ballheim, Jean Hall and Guillaume Harrison. From left: Dsquared coat, $5,990. Go to BergdorfGoodman.com. Dior Homme vest, $870. Go to DiorHomme.com. General Idea pants, $260. Go to GeneralIdea.eu. Tom Binns necklace, $240. Go to TomBinnsDesign.com. Tem feather pin, $425. Go to TemJewelry.com. His own shoes. Haider Ackermann suit, price on request. Go to Barneys.com. His own tank top. Tem earrings, $525, Charm, $1375, and fox tail, $1,800. Vintage Shoe Company boots, 4299. Go to VintageShoeCompany.com. Burberry prorsum coat, $3,595. Go to burberry.com. Bess tank top, $280. Call (212) 219-0723. Victoria's Secret catalog skirt, $40. Go to VictoriasSecret.com. Tom Binns necklace, $940. Tem earrings, $695, and necklace, $2,215. Falke socks, $12. Go to Falke.com. Alexander McQueen shoes, price on request. Go to AlexanderMcQueen.com

Yeah … that’s a lot of expensive stuff. Trust me, tho, these guys are NOT about any of this couture shizz. They are dirty, raw … real. And I’m not kidding, their music is actually scary to listen to. After the jump, check out a live performance by Salem at South by SouthWest earlier this year to get a taste of what they sound like live …

Traxx live at SxSW:

Here is the band’s music video for Asia:

The band released their debut album King Night in September (MP3, CD) and I don’t want to spoil but I can let you know right now that the album will rank very high on my list of Top 10 Albums of 2010. Salem‘s appearance in NYT Style magazine inspired me to share a bit of my love for them with all y’all … they are deffo worth checking out … if you think you can handle it.

Watch: Ian Kisses Teddy On ‘90210’ . . . Again

Posted: 07 Dec 2010 10:45 AM PST

Last week we FINALLY got to see Trevor Donovan‘s 90210 character Teddy kiss Kyle Riabko‘s character Ian for the first time since Teddy‘s coming out story arc began on the show earlier this season. Last night, 90210 gave us another kiss from these two characters in a scene that was so adorably sweet I could barely contain myself:

Altho 98% of the episode dealt with EVERYONE ELSE except Teddy and Ian, the 2% of the couple that we got to see was way worth watching. Early in the ep, Teddy confessed to Ian that he is not yet ready to come out of the closet despite his feelings and Ian shut him down immediately, telling Teddy that he is not willing to go back in the close for anyone. At the end of the ep, after a couple other heterosexual couples shared kisses of their own — Teddy managed to explain himself better to Ian, explained that he just needs a little more time to come to terms with his sexuality and, well, Ian went in for a couple of very sweet kisses. In case you missed it or just want to watch it all over again, check out video of Teddy and Ian‘s kiss from last night’s ep of 90210

I love this scene. It looked to me about as natural as a kiss can be which is featured on TV. We now know that Dixon knows Teddy‘s secret … I wonder how he is going to handle things in the eps to come. I am really loving the careful way 90210 writers and producers are handling Teddy‘s coming out story. This is an important advancement for TV, I think. Sure, same-sex kissing has been featured on other TV shows before but this seems significant because of the somewhat natural way the story is progressing. I’m a fan, yes siree.

BTW, I’m also loving the way the Adriana storyline is turning out … and it looks like Naomi‘s storyline is about to get heated up again. 90210 has been really great this season and not only because of the Teddy storyline. I can’t wait to see how everything continues to unfold as the season progresses.

Did you watch 90210 last night? Do you watch the show overall? What are your thoughts on last night’s ep?

‘Love And Other Drugs’ Premieres In Australia

Posted: 07 Dec 2010 10:19 AM PST

Yesterday we saw photos of co-stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway promoting their new film Love and Other Drugs in in Walsh Bay, Sydney and today we get to see cute pics of the pair on the red carpet at George St. Cinemas in Sydney, Australia last night for their big premiere down under … behold:

Despite the fact that I was not really expecting much from this movie before I saw it, I ended up enjoying it a great deal and I’m certain that many Aussies will agree with me that the film is entertaining, cute and very sexy. Jake and Anne‘s on-screen chemistry really make the movie worth seeing (er, that and all of the nekkid scenes that feature both Jake and Anne). I would like to reiterate and put out into the universe, again, that I would LOVE to see Jakey poo and Annie pie couple up romantically. I’m not sure that these friends will ever truly find love love together but … well, I still would like to see it happen. Cupid, do my bidding, please.

Michael Jackson’s New Album ‘Michael’ Leaks Online

Posted: 07 Dec 2010 08:57 AM PST

Michael Jackson‘s first posthumous album of new material isn’t due for official release until next Tuesday December 14 but according to sources, all 10 of the album’s tracks have leaked their way to the Internets. Clearly, Michael Jackson fans cannot wait a moment longer to hear this new batch of previously unreleased music from the late King of Pop … cuz the entire album is already available online:

Another high-profile leak has hit the web — Michael Jackson's posthumous album, Michael, which is due out next week. According to TMZ, all 10 of the disc's tracks have made their way onto file-sharing sites, a fact we've confirmed by surfing around a few sources. Twitter is also abuzz about the leaked album. Three songs from the disc have already been available for a while now — "Much Too Soon" premiered exclusively on Ping last week, "Hold My Hand" debuted on November 23 on Jackson's official website, and "Breaking News" (which many suspected was not actually sung by Jackson) hit the web on November 8. We imagine that Sony and Epic Records are not pleased with this turn of events, but they declined to comment.

The US government recently seized numerous websites that they claim foster copyright infringement but, as you can see, album leaks continue to happen unfettered by attempts to stop file sharing. Very obviously, Sony Music cannot be happy about this leak but I’m certain that diehard Michael Jackson fans will still pony up and pay for the album when it is released next week even tho the full disc is now available for free download all over the Internet. Despite the leak, do you plan to pay for Michael Jackson‘s Michael when it gets released next week?

Christina Aguilera Does ‘Mezamashi TV’ In Japan

Posted: 07 Dec 2010 08:13 AM PST

On Saturday we learned that Christina Aguilera and her new boyfriend Matthew Rutler made their way to Japan in order for Xtina to do some promo work for her new film Burlesque and today we get to watch short video of Xtina‘s appearance on a morning television program called Mezamashi TV:

Altho the clip is pretty short, you get a good feel for the tone of the frantic morning TV show. I’ve never been fortunate enough to watch Japanese television programs in person but I have seen quite a few clips online that lead me to believe that most if not all Japanese television programming is just the coolest effing shizz you’ll ever seen with your own eyeballs IN YOUR LIFE. After the jump, check out a couple clips of Xtina making an appearance on Japanese TV earlier this morning …

Yeah, I have absolutely no idea what the heck is going on … all I know is that I really effing love Japanese TV. Morning TV programs here in the US aren’t nearly as entertaining and/or exciting. It’s unclear if Xtina actually enjoys appearing on Japanese TV or not considering how out of it she looks but she’s a real sport for going on the air. Isn’t Japanese television programming awesome?

Britney Spears Poses For Photographer Mario Testino

Posted: 07 Dec 2010 07:41 AM PST

Now that we know that Britney Spears‘s new as-yet-untitled album will be released in March 2011 we can, very soon, look forward to the release of promo materials in support of that album. As you may recall, it is rumored that our dear Britney will release a new single in January. Today we learn from Britney herself that she just posed for famed photographer Mario Testino for a new photoshoot:

At this point we have no idea what these new photos will be used for. It is very likely that the Testino shoot will be featured in Vogue or Vanity Fair magazine but it’s also entirely possible that the photos could be used in Britney Spears album promo materials … or even album artwork? We will know very soon what these photos were taken for … and we’ll hopefully get to see them soon, too. My guess is that after the holidays are over, we’ll start to see and hopefully hear new stuff from Britney‘s new album.
