Amy Winehouse's Father Cancels NYC Performance, Flying Back To London

Posted: 23 Jul 2011 12:28 PM PDT

We can't even begin to imagine what this poor man is going through right now.

When news broke that Amy Winehouse has been found dead in her London flat, it appears that her father, Mitch, had been unaware of the devastating news, as he was on a plane to NYC to prepare for a performance at the Blue Note jazz club this coming Monday.

We're very sad to report that he's landed, and has canceled the gig so he can head straight back to England to be with his family during this impossible tragedy.

Our thoughts are with him, as well as all of Amy's loved ones.

We sincerely hope that wherever she is now, she's at peace.

Vanilla Ice Wants To Put His Bieber Comments In Context

Posted: 23 Jul 2011 12:00 PM PDT

After learning how his comments came across in the media, Vanilla Ice wants everyone to know what he meant:

I think the whole story is that [I'm] badmouthing Justin Bieber. That's just not true. I'm friends with him and I've hung out with him. I know his parents, they're very nice. I don't think he's going to be forgotten. I don't think he's going to be forgotten at all. In fact, I think he'll be remembered forever. I wish him all the best. I wasn't trying to say anything bad about anybody. I never badmouth him at all. I don't have any reason to hate anybody; I believe in good karma and spreading good energy.

Nice save!

91 Confirmed Dead In Oslo Attacks.

Posted: 23 Jul 2011 11:20 AM PDT

Such horrific and unnecessary loss of innocent life.

In light of yesterday's devastating bombing attacks and shooting spree in Oslo, Norway, authorities there have now confirmed that 91 have died, many of whom were teenagers at a youth camp.

As we've reported, the gunman was dressed as a police officer when he opened fire at the youth wing of Norway's ruling labor party.

The suspect is now being reported as Anders Behring Breivik (above), who is a member of an extreme-right group and deludes himself into believing that this means he's a "nationalist."

Police chief Svinung Sponheim said that according to internet postings by Breivik, he has "some political traits directed toward the right, and anti-Muslim views."

Awful. We can't even begin to imagine what would allow someone to be capable of such callous disregard for human life.

Our thoughts and condolences go out to all those in Norway and around the world who have been affected by this.

Network Execs Deny Offering To Pay Casey Anthony For First Interview!

Posted: 23 Jul 2011 11:00 AM PDT

GOOD!

Despite reports that Casey Anthony's attorney, Jose Baez, was in negotiations with ABC, CBS, and NBC to pay big bucks for an exclusive first interview with his client , all three of the top networks have shut this down as false!

A source with ABC confirms:

"The report is untrue. If there is a bidding war ABC News is not and will not be part of it."

And CBS continues:

"CBS News is not offering and will not offer to license any materials from Casey Anthony. Not a damn nickel."

NBC concludes:

"We've talked with Baez about getting an interview with Casey Anthony, but only under NBC News standards and conditions: no payment, and absolutely no job offers for members of her defense team."

All three of the network sources have confirmed that although they had sent bookers to meet with Baez, that was it.

And as far as we're concerned, that's already pushing it! That woman doesn't need ANYMORE exposure, let alone any kind of compensation for what she did or 'didn't do.'

Ugh.

Things Aren't Going So Well For Oprah, O Magazine In Ad Slump

Posted: 23 Jul 2011 10:40 AM PDT

First, her network OWN hasn't had the best ratings ever. The word commonly used with it is "lackluster," and that's a shame. We really want the network to be a success.

Now, we're hearing that her magazine O is struggling with finding ads. And we're talking a significant 31.4% drop. That's not good at all.

According to the Media Industry Newsletter, the magazine world as a whole has been confronted with a 7 percent ad drop for all monthlies. O – Hearst's second-most profitable title behind Cosmopolitan – is down 31.4 percent, dropping 81.4 ad pages in August.

Mags like Vogue have had a bit of a recharge in ads lately, so we're not sure that the state of "what's going on in in the women's lifestyle category" is a real explanation, as a spokesperson for Oprah's mag tried to hand out.

Maybe there needs to be a shake up, a reinvention of content? Do what it takes to get back on top, Oprah!

We really are pulling for you!

Jen And Justin Already On The House Hunt!

Posted: 23 Jul 2011 10:20 AM PDT

Oh, shiz! Those engagement rumors are really starting to sound legit!

Jennifer Aniston has been dating new man Justin Theroux now for 17 seconds, which naturally means that the pair have started looking into LIVING together - and are even on the house hunt in the El Lay area!

A source explains:

"They are looking for a new house to move into together."

Wait, wasn't she only just going on and on about wanting to get away from the west coast?

Good lord, gurl! We're glad to see you happy, but can't you get through the first date without ordering a moving truck?

We don't want to see this blow up in your face!

Fingers crossed that it won't!

Amy Winehouse Has Passed Away.

Posted: 23 Jul 2011 09:55 AM PDT

We can't even begin to process this.

Amy Winehouse has been found dead in her London apartment.

According to a press release from the Metropolitan Police:

"Police were called by London Ambulance Service to an address in Camden Square NW1 shortly before 16.05hrs today, Saturday 23 July, following reports of a woman found deceased. On arrival officers found the body of a 27-year-old female who was pronounced dead at the scene. Enquiries continue into the circumstances of the death. At this early stage it is being treated as unexplained."

This is so unbelievably devastating on so many levels. She truly was such a talent.

Our sincerest condolences go out to her family, friends, and loved ones during this impossibly difficult time.

May she R.I.P.

UPDATE:

Scotland Yard has confirmed that there were no signs of foul play at Winehouse's apartment, and that an autopsy has been scheduled to take place tomorrow to determine cause of death.

It's Done! President Obama Signs The Repeal On 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell!'

Posted: 23 Jul 2011 09:40 AM PDT

VICTORY!!!!!

We're ECSTATIC to report that President Barack Obama has officially signed the repeal of the Don't Ask Don't Tell policy, which meant that gay and lesbians were not allowed to serve in the military openly, and will become effective September 20th!

He says in a statement:

"As Commander in Chief, I have always been confident that our dedicated men and women in uniform would transition to a new policy in an orderly manner that preserves unit cohesion, recruitment, retention and military effectiveness... As of September 20th, service members will no longer be forced to hide who they are in order to serve our country. Our military will no longer be deprived of the talents and skills of patriotic Americans just because they happen to be gay or lesbian. I want to thank all our men and women in uniform, including those who are gay or lesbian, for their professionalism and patriotism during this transition. Every American can be proud that our extraordinary troops and their families, like earlier generations that have adapted to other changes, will only grow stronger and remain the best fighting force in the world and a reflection of the values of justice and equality that the define us as Americans."

We couldn't have said it better ourself!

Such a proud day for Americans! Now, let's keep the equal rights coming!

We can be strong! Ride, ride, pony, ride, ride!
