Amy Winehouse Covers VIBE's August/September "Juice" Issue + Mary J. Blige Appears On VH1's "Behind The Music" (Video)

Posted: 28 Jul 2011 09:21 AM PDT

Amy Winehouse shares a special double cover of VIBE's 2011 "Juice" issue with R&B starlet Kelly Rowland and we have highlighs from the issue inside. Also, watch Mary J. Blige's "Behind The Music" episode after the jump.....

Unfortunately, Amy Winehouse's untimely death bumps Kelly Rowland from having the only cover of VIBE's "Juice" issue for 2011 as the mag has put together a special tribute.

In celebration of Amy and her contribution to music, one of Amy's producers, Salaam Remi had this to say:

"I’m in London now. I’m out here because [Amy and I] were supposed to go to a wedding today. And before I could get to her yesterday she passed. We were going to the wedding of Nick Symansky, who is the person who really found her. He found her when he was a scout at 19. And he was the manager before they got the Universal deal.

They went ahead with the wedding. All I could do was sit there and imagine how many jokes she would have been cracking with me. We were in the middle of working on the album. She finished writing the record. We just hadn’t recorded.

For the last couple of weeks we were video chatting regularly. I was just talking to Nas. Both her and Nas were born on September 14, so we were going to Barbados with all of them for her birthday. She really doesn’t look forward to her birthday, you know what I’m saying?

The issue hits mag racks on August 16.

And we told you earlier about Mary J. Blige's "Behind The Music" episode where she reveals being molested as a child, her abusive relationship with Jodeci's K-Ci, and her battle with drugs and alcohol.  Watch the episode below....

"BBW" Star Tami Roman Dishes On Slapping Meeka In The Face & Why She Won't Return Next Year If Meeka Does

Posted: 28 Jul 2011 08:43 AM PDT

Tami Roman of VH1's "Basketball Wives" called into TT Torrez's Richmond, VA radio show to dish about slapping Meeka Claxton in the face, Evelyn Lozada and Jennifer Williams' fight, and whether she is returning next season. Get the deets inside.....

Fiesty Tami Roman, the breakout star of "Basketball Wives," recently gave a radio interivew about Monday's "knockout" episode where Tami got into a fight with castmate Meeka Claxton and the lawsuit that's brewing under the surface.

Tami didn't get to see Monday night’s episode (because she and the ladies were filming the reunion), but she still shared the background about what happened.

During her interview, Tami said that Meeka came on the show and lied a lot, but she wanted to give her an opportunity to tell the truth about what comments she had made about her.  Well....that didn't happen.  So Tami shared,

“As we’re having this discussion all I see, which I have asked her not to do, was her getting ready to get up…ya know with her hand. Don’t put your hand up because I don’t know what you’re going to do. I don’t know if you’re going to swing at me. So I basically, you know, I have a defense mechanism that has always been apart of who I am and when I saw that hand…I snapped cause I’m like I don’t know what you’re going to do and I had to defend myself so that’s what y’all saw last night.”

Tami added that she hates dishonesty and chooses not to associate herself with Meeka.  But what about that lawsuit?  Tami said she had not been served any papers but the lawsuit issue did come up during the reunion special.

Meeka told the ladies she was not at liberty to discuss it.  And what did Tami say about that?  That she won't return next season if Meeka is on the show because she won't work with someone who is suing her.  She said VH1 would have to choose between she and Meeka based on who's more valuable.  I'm sure that won't be a hard decision for Shaunie and the producers.  Sorry Meeka!

During the interview, she also said she's not happy that the other ladies don't get along with Royce.  She wishes they could make up because the other ladies refuse to tape with Royce and that upsets the dynamic, often leaving she and Suzie in the middle.

She also spoke about Evelyn and Jennifer's fight. Apparently it all went down in Italy because Evelyn was waiting for the radio interview to be sent to her so she could confront Jennifer about it.  In that situation, Tami says Evelyn was upset that Jennifer basically didn't have her back.

GROUPIES GET YOUR ISH READY: Reggie Bush Is Taking His Talents To South Beach!

Posted: 28 Jul 2011 07:59 AM PDT

Reggie Bush is taking his fineness...and football talents...to South Beach.  After the NFL lockout (which finally ended last Friday) and his Heisman trophy hoopla, things are looking up for Mr. Bush.

Deets inside on his big trade news....

Miami get ready.  A trade for runningback Reggie Bush from the New Orleans Saints to Miami Dolphins was just finalized this morning, according to ESPN. All that's left to do is for Reggie to fly down to the MIA and sign on the dotted line.

Coincidentally, Ricky Williams also still plays for the Dolphins in the runningback position, and he was traded from the Saints to the Dolphins back in 2002.

2 great runningbacks is a plus for Miami.  And another young and fun athlete in the city is a plus for LeBron & Dwyane Wade.  I feel another bestie situation happening.  And chicks are about to be on it....

NO MORE MO? BET'S "The Mo'Nique Show" Placed On "Indefinite Hiatus"

Posted: 27 Jul 2011 04:12 PM PDT

Fans of "The Mo'Nique Show" won't be laughing once they find out their favorite last night show has been cancelled...or on an "indefinite hiatus."  Get the deets on the cancellation inside....

Earlier today, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution confirmed that "The Mo'Nique Show" has been placed on indefinite hiatus.  That's fancy TV talk for "won't be no 'Mo' shows."

Mo'Nique's sidekick Rodney Perry told the AJC that he learned about the cancellation from Mo's husband Sidney (though he didn't say when).

“We did some good work,” Perry said.

“And I think the show is significant. There hasn’t been an outlet for people of color late night since Arsenio.”

Rodney said he wasn't sure if the decision was based on ratings or finances adding,

"They haven’t had this type of investment ever. We did 300 shows over two seasons. That’s a huge investment.”

But there have also been rumors that BET execs may have had conflict with Mo'Nique's management. So.....I wonder is Mo's management team talked her out of a job with their excessive demnds?

REUNITED? Exes The Dream & Christina Milian Grab Lunch With Baby Violet

Posted: 27 Jul 2011 03:51 PM PDT

Well isn't this interesting.  Divorced couple Christina Milian and The Dream were spotted....together...for the first time....taking their daughter Violet to lunch in Beverly HIlls yesterday.

The duo hit tup the paparazzi ridden Ivy restaurant (how convenient) and looked like they kept things pretty civil.  Maybe all the mudslinging has come to an end.  Pics inside...

Clearly they were OK with people seeing them in the same space again.  Christina Milian and Terius Nash, bka the Dream, were spotted lunching together with their 1 and a half year old baby girl Violet yesterday.  But as it work...or play?

Christina's gorgeous self was spotted leaving out the restaurant looking cute and casual and jeans and a cropped shirt.  Then her ex-husband The Dream was seen leaving out right after carrying their daughter:

Hey Violet!

He dropped off Baby V and buckled her in to Christina's G-Wagon truck.  Then took off in his own car:

But there may just be a work relationship going on here.  Yesterday, Dream tweeted Chris about making a new song. And she tweeted back that she's working on it:

So maybe it was all business.  Time will tell....

GLAMOURific: Rihanna Says Which Women Are Dominating Music, How She Dominates Her Man, & Dominating Her Image+Releases Trailer For "Battleship"

Posted: 27 Jul 2011 02:36 PM PDT

We've got more pics from Rihanna's September 2011 issue of GLAMOUR Magazine where she talks about her sense of style, how she, Beyonce, Katy Perry, Ke$ha, and others are leading the pack, and how she likes to dominate her image and her men.

She's also prepping to hit the big screen in Battleship. Come inside to see pics and highlights from her interview plus watch the trailer for Battleship.

Rihanna covers the latest issue of GLAMOUR Magazine and inside, she talks about being a role model, avoiding drama in her life and what she thinks of other pop female singers.  Read the highlights and check out the rest of her spread:

On hating drama…and perfection…
“I hate drama. But at the same time, nothing bothers me more than when life’s perfect. And that’s the sick part. I just love a challenge, whether it’s a relationship, my career, clothing…”

On her attention-getting sense of style…
“Getting dressed, I want to pick the most bizarre pair of shorts so I can figure out how to make it look right, or work an outfit that will make people go, “What the hell is she wearing?”

On dealing with how messy life can get…
“I think honesty is the ultimate liberation in life. People want to shy away from the truth and keep sweeping it under the rug. But after a while, you pick up the rug and there’s just way too much dirt, so you might as well just be up front about it.”

On being a role model for young girls…
“In the beginning of my career, it was really strict for me. I couldn’t wear pink or red lipstick; it was just bizarre. We had a young fan base, and they were trying to keep me fresh. But I just really wanted to be myself. I wanted to be sassy, the attitude, all these things that I am.”

On being a role model for young girls…
“I want to set the right example and, at the same time, live my life….I feel like pop stars can’t be rock stars anymore because they have to be role models, and it takes the fun out of it for us, because we just want to have fun with art.”

On liking dominant guys in the bedroom…
“I play a very dominant role in my life, in every aspect of it. And I like to feel like a lady still, at some point. I feel like that’s the time when a guy really gets to be a man, and I get to be a woman. And if I’m being a man in the bedroom too, there’s nothing really in it for me.”

On her fellow female musicians…
“There’s a pack. It’s me, Gaga, Katy Perry, Beyoncé…who else? Ke$ha, for sure. Women are definitely dominating music right now, and that’s because we are competitive beings. I feel like music hasn’t been this exciting in a while.”

On her friendship with Katy Perry…
“All my friends are guys, to be completely honest. But when I met her, it was such a breath of fresh air. I just couldn’t believe this chick had no edit button…. Katy and Lady Gaga came out of the gate exactly the way they think, the way they wanna dress, the way they wanna speak.”

In addition to her interview, Rihanna answered questions from her fans during her Glamour magazine shoot:

And in movie news....

We told you earlier about Rihanna coming to the big screen in Battleship and now we can show you the movie's trailer.

FIRST LOOK: Lance Gross & Nicole Beharie In "The Last Fall"

Posted: 27 Jul 2011 12:45 PM PDT

Lance Gross is continuing his movie career with a film based around the life of a football player.  And we've got the first look at photos from the set of the Matthew Cherry directed film called "The Last Fall."

Check out Lance and his co-stars inside...

The film stars Lance Gross, Nicole Beharie ("American Violet"), Vanessa Bell Calloway, Harry Lennix Jr., Keith David and Darren Henson.  And is headed up by a YBF director and writer--Matthew Cherry.

Matt is a former NFLer who now owns his own production studio--Cherry Entertainment/Transparent Filmworks.  He's directed music videos for Jazmine Sullivan's "In Love With Another Man" & Common's "Make My Day."  And he's also responsible for the short film we posted last year featuring Reagan Gomez called This Time, which was shown at the Black Film Festival.

And now, he's made a new movie about the life and times of a former baller:

Lance and Nicole star in the sports drama that follows a former NFL player through an unexpected and early retirement.

Here's the movie synopsis:

After several years in the playing professional football, KYLE BISHOP is released from his fourth team in three years and returns to his home town, broke and at a complete loss about what he will do for a living. After an initially cold reception, Kyle reconnects with FAITH DAVIS, his old high school sweetheart. Ready to leave football far in the past, Kyle gets a job at a local gym and starts planning a new life with Faith and her young son, VON. However, when Kyle unexpectedly gets a lucrative offer from another professional team, and the father of Faith's son, RELL, tries to win his way back in her life, he is torn about what path to take.

Jamie Foxx's mentee Brittany Loren is also in the film.

Talking about the film, director Matthew Cherry said, “I wanted to show a different side of life in the NFL, especially with the NFL lock-out currently looming over the upcoming season. For every millionaire you have ten other players who are barely making what the average American makes at their regular 9-5. Often players bounce around from team to team trying to hold onto their childhood dream and lose touch with family, friends and meaningful relationships.”

It's set to be complete in 2012.  No word on if this will be a theater release or a pre-release Film Festival showing.

SPOTTED: Kim Porter Laughing It Up In Beverly Hills

Posted: 27 Jul 2011 11:16 AM PDT

Well we'd be laughing ourselves silly too if we went to lunch rocking this fat yellow diamond ring like Kim Porter.  Diddy's ex was spotted lunching at Villa Blanca in Beverly Hills (the restaurant owned by "Beverly Hills Housewfie" Lisa Vanderpump) yesterday looking fab.

Pics inside...

The "Single Ladies" actress rocked a cute all-black look while dining out with friends yesterday afternoon.  Kim rocked a black dress to match her black arm cast (did she take a traumatic fall in a stiletto?).  And she rocked all Givenchy accessories--from the Nightingale bag to the vintage shades to the nude shooties.  And a cute partly braided hairstyle.

She looked laid back and relaxed while out and about.  I guess things are going well for the mother of 4 these days.  Keep doing you boo...

WEDDING & HONEYMOON FAB: Chris & Adrienne Bosh Honeymoon In St. Tropez+Toya & Memphitz's Wedding Pic

Posted: 27 Jul 2011 09:55 AM PDT

Miami Heat star Chris Bosh & Adrienne Bosh are still celebrating their (second) nuptials.  They got married in a lavish ceremony last weekend in Miami.  And they headed to St. Tropez for a long honeymoon.

Pics of the newlyweds, plus a gorgeous wedding pic from Toya & Memphitz's recent ceremony, when you read on....

The Boshes spent a beautiful day at sea in St. Tropez yesterday:

Adrienne rocked a gray maxi dress while her hubby wore a gray striped shirt and khaki shorts as they headed to a small boat off to another location:

And Chris was already on doting husband duties.  Well isn't that sweet:

I wonder how Adrienne's going to spend her free time when she can't twitpic every outfit a every game moment thanks to the lockout.

And speaking of newlyweds, Toya Wright and Mickey "Memphitz" Wright just released a fab photo from their nuptials last month:

Toya looks like a beautiful bride.  And her hubby is pretty hot himself.  Congrats again to the couples!
