Christina Aguilera Is Readying The Release Of A Fragrance Called ‘Secret Potion’

Posted: 14 Jul 2011 05:30 PM PDT

Christina Aguilera, who found great success this past Spring as a judge on the singing competion show The Voice on NBC, is readying the release of her latest celebrity fragrance. Called Secret Potion, the first promo image for the smell managed to make its way to a Spanish-language fan site … which you can see for yourselves below.

I’m actually not sure how many fragrances Xtina has released. Her official perfume site shows 3 different fragrances but I know she also released a perfume called Inspire … so this is her 5th perfume? Whatever the case may be, I’m guessing she’ll be selling a lot more perfume after her very successful stint as judge/mentor on The Voice. Do any of y’all like her perfumes? Do you think you’ll be shelling out to buy this new smell?

Morrissey Will Release His Autobiography In December . . . 2012

Posted: 14 Jul 2011 04:30 PM PDT

Back in April, the very outspoken Morrissey penned a very critical (and public) letter to Queen Elizabeth II but it turns out that that wasn’t the only writing he’s been doing lately. In addition to an entirely new album (which he is having difficulty releasing), Moz has penned his autobiography and, according to a new interview with Billboard magazine, he will be releasing it in December … of 2012! Click below to read what the Mozzer has to say on, well, a few different things.

Unsurprisingly, Steven Patrick Morrissey has a bone to pick.

It’s been nearly two and half years since the influential baritone crooner’s last album, “Years of Refusal” (Decca/Universal), and between then and now, the former Smiths frontman has hit a handful of obstacles. He’s written his tenth solo album that “flutters wildly against the bars,” premiering three songs — “Action Is My Middle Name,” “The Kid’s a Looker” and “People Are The Same Everywhere” — on BBC Radio last month. But as Morrissey recently revealed, no label will release the material to his international legions of devotees, who have been hanging on his Oscar Wilde-like lyrical vignettes for nearly 30 years now. He continues to tour, as he currently is though early August, in his native U.K. and around Europe (“I’d need to inherit a shipping fortune to get myself to South America,” the sardonic singer says). He’s written an autobiography, which he says will not be published until December 2012. And in the WTF news of the week, fans learned that Moz was attacked by a dog in Malmo, Sweden, sustaining injuries to his right index finger. But, in his distinctly outspoken way, 52-year-old Morrissey still kicking it. He speaks with Billboard about the “stifled” music world, how his deal with Universal fell apart, and feeling the love from Lady Gaga. And as only Morrissey could, he challenges Madonna to be a bit more like the legendary Edith Piaf. As he declared in his over-the-top 1989 single, “The Last of the Famous International Playboys,” “Oh I can’t help quoting you / With everything that you say rings true.” Amen.

It is becoming more and more known that you do not have a record deal — but you do have a new album ready to be recorded. Has there been any contact from labels since you’ve started discussing this publicly?

None. Universal say they are interested, but their communications have gaps of eight weeks, so they obviously aren’t that serious.

How, exactly, did you end up without a label? What happened with Universal?

Universal and my then manager [Irving Azoff] decided to release my last album ["Years of Refusal"] during Brit Awards weeks, an unwinnable situation for someone like me who is the exact opposite of Brit Awards wretchedness. So, I suffered badly against the usual sandblast of Brit Awards publicity, and my relationship with Universal and my management collapsed due to their bad judgment. Everything matters.

You recently played new songs “Action Is My Middle Name,” “The Kid’s a Looker” and “People Are The Same Everywhere” (sidenote: what stellar titles, seriously) on BBC Radio 2. Out of your new material, why did you choose to record and premiere those?

They have a climbing-into-the-ring quality that seemed essential to convey at this stage.

What is your take on what’s happening in the music world today? There are dramatic figures like Lady Gaga reigning in pop music, but do you think it’s anything new or different from what you’ve seen throughout your tenure in this world?

I say without bitterness that it is nothing new. I like the idea of women who are in full control, but I am tired of seeing singers who cannot deliver a song without the aide of seven hundred and fifty frenzied dancers assuming the erotic. It is actually fraudulent, and the exact opposite of erotic. Edith Piaf was seven inches high, always wore a modest black dress, and sang without stage sets or lights, and her voice roared above the wind, with the most incredible powers of communication. I’d like to see McDonna [Madonna] attempt that.

Any plans to extend the tour you’re currently out on, or perform outside of Europe?

It is incredibly expensive to tour, and without a sponsor or a rich spinster aunt, we can’t travel very far. I’d need to inherit a shipping fortune to get myself to South America, for example. Australia might as well be Pluto.

You have such an extensive catalog, and obviously your fans have very strong opinions about what songs they want to hear from you in concert. How do you decide which older songs to work into your setlists?

It’s a self-regarding gesture. I would find the idea of compiling a set-list that doesn’t wildly excite me to be too restricting. The fire in the belly is essential, otherwise you become Michael Buble — famous and meaningless.

Tell me a bit about the autobiography you’ve been working on. What sparked your desire to tell your own story?

I see it as the sentimental climax to the last 30 years. It will not be published until December 2012, which gives me just enough time to pack all I own in a box and disappear to central Brazil. The innocent are named and the guilty are protected.

You’re a legend in the music world, so much so that I can imagine fans bum-rush you in the streets, tattoo your photo on their bodies. Yet you’re known for your self-deprecating nature. Do you ever ponder this paradox?

The paradox is that I have no love for myself as a human being, but I have immense pride in the music I make, and I believe it has an important place. Others do, too, and the thousands of people with Morrissey tattoos certainly proves something.

I seriously love Morrissey so much. He is a musical genius. And while I don’t always agree with his very outspoken stances on many things, I can’t help but respect the man for always speaking his mind and staying vigilantly true to his beliefs … which is a rarity in the music biz. I am really looking forward to reading his autobiography but, damn, do we really have to wait until December of NEXT year to get it? Sheesh. Hopefully we’ll get to hear his new album sooner than that. I’m also hoping Moz will bring his tour to the US cuz I really want to hear his new music live. As long as Morrissey keeps doing his thing, all will be right with the world.

Jake Gyllenhaal & Michael Peña Bear Witness To Gang Violence

Posted: 14 Jul 2011 03:30 PM PDT

Back in April we saw a few photos of actors Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña filming scenes (or something) for their up coming film End of Watch. Last night, as they continued to prep for their film, Jake and Michael went on a police ride along here in LA and ended up on scene for an actual shooting. The car that they were riding in responded to an alleged gang shooting so Jake and Michael got an up-close and personal look at actual police work.

Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña witnessed the aftermath of gang violence Wednesday night, as they rode with cops who responded to a bloody gang shooting in South L.A. The two actors, who were prepping for their roles in a new movie, watched as paramedics treated an alleged gang member, who suffered grazing bullet wounds on the lip and arm.

Wow … well, I guess when you go on a police ride along, you never know what you’re going to see. This reminds me of that episode of Friends when Ross, Joey and Chandler went on that police ride along and they thought they were being shot at but it turned out merely to be a car backfiring. Clearly this was a more serious case but, yeah, I’d say that Jake and Michael got what they needed on this ride along, wouldn’t you?

Watch: ‘The Thing’ Releases A First Movie Trailer

Posted: 14 Jul 2011 02:50 PM PDT

In 1982 horror legend John Carpenter released a film titled The Thing that terrified audiences with a mysterious … well, thing … that was found beneath the ice in Antartica. This year, a prequel of the same name will be released that is set 3 days before the events of the original ’82 film. It’s a bit confusing but the prequel to The Thing titled The Thing is headed your way. The first trailer for this new prequel has been released, you can check it out in full below.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the original film, the premise of this prequel is essentially the same. A … thing … is discovered beneath the ice of Antartica that is believed to have died hundreds of thousands of years ago. The scientists to make the discovery unwittingly free the … thing … from its icy prison and have to defend themselves from being killed and eaten. I only saw the original film once and I don’t recall being too frightened … but I am curious about this prequel. The trailer makes it look interesting enough. Are any of y’all fans of the original film? Does this look good enough to check out?

Justin Bieber & Selena Gomez Do The 2011 ESPY Awards

Posted: 14 Jul 2011 01:30 PM PDT

Lovebirds Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez, who earlier this week stepped out for a night of karaoke dueting together, made an appearance at the 2011 ESPY Awards here in LA last night. As I understand it, the ESPYs are handed out for accomplishments in the world of sport so neither Justin nor Selena were there to collect any awards. I think the primary goal of last night’s appearance was to show the world how much in LURVE they are with one another.

We’re generally used to seeing the likes of Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez at big-time music award shows or even movie premieres, but last night we got a special treat as the totally cute and karaoking duo arrived at the ESPY Awards to honor excellence in sports. Both Sel and the Biebs opted to go all black for the event, and they weren’t the only ones. Other stars including “The Voice” judge Cee Lo Green and “Entourage” star Emmanuelle Chriqui also made black their color of choice … How can you not love a couple who sings together and color coordinates? While Justin was covered in black from head to toe (well almost, his sneakers had a hint of white and silver spikes), in a dark shirt and sparkly sweater, Selena decided to show a little more skin in a short and shapely dress. Sel accessorized her look with gold baubles and shoes with multiple black straps.

These two … I love them. I mean, that’s not to say that I like them individually (tho, I am starting to really appreciate Selena‘s fun music) but I do like them as a couple. Justena are the new Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake to me. While I sincerely doubt they will stay together forever (like Britney and JT didn’t), I think we better get used to seeing these two flaunting their love for some time to come. They make a cute couple, no matter where they show up. So cute, right?

It All Ends . . . Tonight

Posted: 14 Jul 2011 12:48 PM PDT

I’ve been saying it all week … well, all year actually … but the time has come … the final Harry Potter film will be released at midnight tonight and it’s pretty much all I can think about today. As I mentioned earlier, Darion and I will be seeing Parts 1 & 2 of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows starting at 9PM tonight and we’ve been txting back and forth all day making plans. I’m not sure what you’ll be doing tonight but I’ll be cheering then bawling my eyes out — one last time — with Harry Potter and the gang.

Tonight is the night that I will see the final Harry Potter film and in the course of reminiscing about all the previous HP films, I was reminded that I saw the first Harry Potter film at 8AM on opening day back in 2001 on my first adult trip to LA! I wasn’t even living here yet … my BFF Sarah and I were visiting our friend Adriana who had just moved to LA for the first time and we decided to get up really early on opening day to see Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone at Grauman’s Chinese Theater on Hollywood Blvd. Now, here I am, 10 years later … happily living in LA … preparing to see the final Harry Potter film. It’s funny the way things work out sometimes. I’ll be bringing my very own officially licensed Elder Wand to tonight’s showing:

Should anyone try to give me a hard time tonight (or if they decide to talk during the movie) I will zap them with my magic wand and turn them into a toad or something. In any event … Harry Potter will rule my day today. I’m ready and not ready for the end. I’m so excited and so sad all at the same time. It won’t be long now. It’ll all be over … very, very soon.

That’s it … tonight’s the night … the world of Harry Potter comes to a FINAL end tonight at midnight when Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows – Part 2 opens in theaters here in the US. The day that Potter fans have been excited about/dreading has finally arrived. To celebrate the final Harry Potter film, presented in 3D, AMC Theaters are giving away special Harry Potter-style 3D glasses for the first showings of the film. If you are among the lucky people to see the film first tonight, then you’ll be going home with a pair of these special glasses as a memento.

Darion and I will be at an AMC Theater here in LA to see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Parts 1 & 2 back to back starting at 9 PM. I am really excited and really bummed to be honest. I’m so anxious to see this film but I’m so upset that once it’s over … it’s ALL over. I do really love that the 3D glasses we’re gonna get are these special Harry Potter-style glasses. I’m not sure if any other theaters are giving them away as well but … head over to eBay if you really want to get a pair of these glasses. The end is nigh … so nigh, I don’t even want to think about it. I’ve never been so happy AND sad about a single thing before. Are any of y’all gonna be at midnight showings of The Deathly Hallows tonight … if so, bring some extra Kleenex … I might need to borrow some :(

Angelina Jolie And Her Eldest Daughters Fly Into LAX Airport

Posted: 14 Jul 2011 10:59 AM PDT

Angelina Jolie and her daughters Zahara Marley and Shiloh Nouvel arrived here in SoCal last night at LAX Airport and were greeted by a throng of eager photogs. It’s been a while since we’ve seen photos of the Jolie-Pitt kids up close so I was happily surprised to see that Shiloh is losing her baby teeth already. There aren’t very many things cuter than a little kid with missing front teeth … and, to be honest, there aren’t many kids cuter than Shiloh with a missing front tooth.

Shiloh is a DOLL! She looks so rad in her Rolling Stones t-shirt and Michael Jackson-like military jacket. I cannot believe how big she and sister Zahara have grown! The Jolie-Pitt kids are growing so quickly … the twins, Vivienne Marcheline and Knox Léon just turned 3 years old on Tuesday! So big, so fast. I hope that Ange and the girls will be staying in town for a while … it’ll be nice to see them around town.

Andrew Garfield As Spider-Man Does ‘Entertainment Weekly’ Magazine [UPDATE]

Posted: 14 Jul 2011 09:02 AM PDT

Back in January we got our first first look at actor Andrew Garfield in costume for the upcoming reboot film The Amazing Spider-Man. Today we get to see Andrew in costume again as he featured on the cover of the special 2011 San Diego Comic-Con preview issue of Entertainment Weekly magazine out today. Click below to see the new web slinger posing on this week’s issue of EW mag.

Spidey's back! Well, almost. The Amazing Spider-Man doesn't hit theaters for another year, but in anticipation of next week's Comic-Con (July 21-24 in San Diego) we've got first looks at and inside scoops about the webslinger's highly anticipated return — including interviews with stars Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone and with director Marc Webb. EW can also exclusively confirm that Rhys Ifans will be playing Doc Conners, who, in an experiment gone wrong, transforms into one of Spider-Man's most formidable foes ever, the Lizard. Four years after Spider-Man 3, starring Tobey Maguire, The Amazing Spider-Man promises to be a "more contemporary," "more gritty," and "more character-driven" look at the comic book hero. He's a hero the 27-year-old Garfield knows well. Growing up, "I related to Peter Parker [Spidey's alter ego] so much because I felt like someone else inside," he says. "I loved the comic books and the animated TV series and I even dressed up as Spider-Man as a kid." Adds Webb: "Ultimately what this movie is about is a kid who grows up looking for his father and finds himself. And that's a Spider-Man story we haven't seen before."

EW magazine always provides amazing Comic-Con coverage. They always cover the best of the best when it comes to pop culture stuff. I am a longtime subscriber so I can’t wait for this issue to arrive in my mailbox. As you may recall, we saw photos in May HERE and HERE that already clued us into the fact that Rhys Ifans is playing The Lizard in this upcoming Spider-Man film … but it’s nice to get official confirmation, I suppose. While we still have a long way to go until The Amazing Spider-Man gets released, it’s fun getting these early sneak peeks along the way. Woo!

UPDATE: EW updated their official website with some NEW promo photos from The Amazing Spider-Man … check out a few of them below:

The 2011 Emmy Award Nominations Have Been Announced

Posted: 14 Jul 2011 08:09 AM PDT

Hollywood was awake bright and very early today to find out which actors and TV shows were given Emmy Award nominations and, for the most part, it was business as usual … perennial Emmy faves Mad Men and Modern Family walked away with the most nominations this year. But there are a few newcomers to the Emmy nomination game … The Killing, Mike & Molly, Justified and Game of Thrones to name just a few. Click below to see which TV shows and actors scored Emmy noms this morning.

Stylish 1960s advertising drama “Mad Men” and mockumentary comedy “Modern Family” will vie again for the top prizes at the 2011 Primetime Emmy Awards in a field packed with newcomers and veteran actors in new roles. “Mad Men,” the three-time Emmy winner for best dramatic show, scored 19 nominations on Thursday for TV’s highest honors, including best drama series and acting nods for its stars Jon Hamm and Elisabeth Moss. ABC’s “Modern Family,” which took the top comedy prize last year, earned a total of 17 nominations, including mentions for stars Ty Burrell, Julie Bowen and Sofia Vergara. Other contenders in the best drama series race were HBO’s new prohibition era series “Boardwalk Empire” with a total of 18 nods, CBS legal program “The Good Wife,” freshman fantasy “Game of Thrones,” “Dexter” and “Friday Night Lights.” Among comedy series, “Modern Family” will face off for best program against veteran “30 Rock,” first time nominee “Parks and Recreation,” “The Big Bang Theory” and “The Office.” Fox’s quirky musical comedy “Glee”, which dominated last year’s Emmy nominations, got just 12 mentions this year, including best comedy and supporting acting nods for Chris Colfer and Jane Lynch. But it failed to grab any spots in the lead acting categories. HBO’s miniseries “Mildred Pierce” had the largest number of nominations with a total of 21, including nods for its stars Kate Winslet and Evan Rachel Wood. Five of the 12 nominated comedy and drama series are first time nominees. The acting categories featured a slew of Emmy rookies including Melissa McCarthy in freshman comedy “Mike & Molly,” Martha Plimpton for “Raising Hope,” Mireille Enos in the AMC crime drama “The Killing” and Timothy Olyphant in the modern Western drama “Justified” on FX. “It is great that we are recognizing the spectrum of television. We are here to celebrate television and let our audience around the world know how great TV is,” said John Shaffner, chairman of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. The Emmys will be handed out at a ceremony in Los Angeles on September 18, hosted by “Glee” star Jane Lynch.

Click HERE for a list of some of the key nominations announced today. The nomination today for Chris Colfer‘s work on Glee surely must be bittersweet … especially considering it was just announced that he is about to lose his job on the show. Naturally, I’ll be rooting for Dexter and Michael C. Hall to win awards this year but, to be honest, I am not really excited by any of the noms announced today. No big surprises … the same folks will win. Meh. I’m all meh. about the whole thing. The 2011 Emmy Awards will be handed out on September 18 … are you excited?

Lea Michele, Chris Colfter & Cory Monteith Will Leave ‘Glee’ After The Upcoming 3rd Season

Posted: 14 Jul 2011 07:25 AM PDT

Earlier this month we learned that Glee star Chord Overstreet is being reduced from series regular to a guest starring role on the upcoming 3rd season of the show. Today we learn from Glee creator Ryan Murphy, by way of The Hollywood Reporter, that 3 of the show’s main characters will be graduating at the end of season 3 … thereby leaving the show forever. Lea Michele, Chris Colfer and Corey Monteith, who played sophomores on Glee when the show debuted 2 years ago, will play high school seniors in season 3 … hence, they will then graduate off the show.

Glee regulars Lea Michele, Cory Monteith and Chris Colfer will not be back for the fourth season of the Fox musical hit. In an exclusive interview with The Hollywood Reporter, series co-creator Ryan Murphy said that the three regulars will be among the characters who graduate at the end of the fall's upcoming third season. Colfer, Michele and Monteith are not going to be back at all for Season 4. Murphy tells THR: “You can keep them on the show for six years and people will criticize you for not being realistic, or you can be really true to life and say when they started the show they were very clearly sophomores and they should graduate at the end of their senior year." Murphy added that planning for the future beyond high school will be a heavy theme during Season 3, noting that "more characters are leaving than are staying" when graduation time comes at the season's end. "We've never done anything by the book," he said, adding that who's graduating and who's staying will be revealed in the Sept. 20 season premiere. "We made that decision and I involved Chris and Lea and they thought that was a good idea. They both trust the writing and trust me and felt that it would be great to have an open and closed experience for them to go out while they were on top" … "We already made the decision before the new writers came in, but everybody likes where we're taking it and what we're writing toward," Murphy said, noting that while he loved the "relationship roulette" from Season 2, the upcoming run would find everyone's love lives more stable. "I'm much more interested in Lea's character — not so much on her relationship with Finn, but more on what her dreams are beyond high school and how she plans on getting them," he added. "That's what my senior year was about." Murphy acknowledged that while he hasn't discussed graduation plans with Monteith yet, he presumes he's aware that Finn will be among those graduating. "He knows he was a sophomore when the show started."

While some folks are freaking out about this news I am all … um, HELLO … how did we not see this coming? The show is about high school characters … high school kids graduate. There have been all kinds of rumors going around that Murphy has a plan in place to have Lea Michele come back to the show in some capacity but I doubt it. My guess is that they will scour the Earth for suitable replacement characters and that Glee will be a show where the cast gets replaced as needed. Skins in the UK replaces their entire cast every other year and I actually love that they do that. We still have an entire year to enjoy these 3 characters so there is no need for any rabid Gleeks to go jumping off buildings or anything. I find it interesting/dickish that Cory Monteith had to learn about the fate of his job from this THR interview and not from Ryan Murphy himself. At any rate … there you have … heads will roll at the end of Glee Season 3 … what do YOU think about that?
