Watch: ‘Dexter’ Releases A Full-Length Season 6 Promo Video

Posted: 15 Jul 2011 05:00 PM PDT

In late May, Showtime released a short teaser promo for the upcoming 6th season of Dexter. Today we get to check out the first full-length promo for the show. In the clip, Dexter questions the reasons why he is the way he is. Could it be that Dexter‘s need to kill bad guys comes from a higher power? Could he really be doing the work of god? Check out the clip below.

LOVE THIS. You know, it never occurred to me that Dexter never really seemed to question whether or not he was a good guy or a bad guy. I mean, we the audience have that debate every single episode (and the consensus seems to be that he is a good guy) so it makes sense that he may start to question the why he is the way he is. As long as they don’t make Dexter go all spiritual crazy, I think I’d love to see how this particular storyline plays out. What do y’all think? Are you impressed with the way is seems Dexter season 6 will turn out based on this video?

Taylor Swift Readies The Release Of A Fragrance Called ‘Wonderstruck’

Posted: 15 Jul 2011 04:00 PM PDT

Yesterday we learned that popstar Christina Aguilera is gettin’ ready to release her newest celebrity fragrance and today we learn that fellow popstar Taylor Swift wants in on the action. Apparently, Taylor announced last year that she was working on her first perfume … and today we learn all the deets about her new smell called Wonderstuck. Wanna smell like Taylor Swift? Then read on below.

Taylor Swift is no stranger to finding a creative outlet for her emotions, so its no surprise she's channeling some of those feelings into her own perfume! After announcing last fall she would debut her first signature fragrance in collaboration with Elizabeth Arden, now the details of her new scent, Wonderstruck, have finally been released. "Wearing perfume is such a unique way to create memories. Like songs, a scent can take you back and allow you to relive a moment in time," Swift said. And everything from the perfume's name to the specific ingredients of the scent were drawn from Swift's personal life experiences. "I wrote the lyric, 'I'm wonderstruck, blushing all the way home,' for the song 'Enchanted' about the first time you meet someone," she said. "A fragrance can help shape someone's first impression and memory of you. It's exciting to think that Wonderstruck will play a role in creating some of those memories." Swift will help shape those memories with a gourmand floral scent, boasting notes of vibrant fruits including raspberry and apple blossom, with notes of golden amber and sandalwood.

Another perfume! Yay!! Cuz the world really needs another perfume … but, I guess you really can’t blame Taylor for cashing in on this racket. Celebrity fragrances are a multi-million dollar business. Mo’ money, mo’ perfumes. It’s as simple as that. Any Taylor fans plan on picking up Wonderstuck when it gets released?

Jennifer Lopez & Marc Anthony Are Dunzo!

Posted: 15 Jul 2011 02:55 PM PDT

Singer, actress and American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez and her hubby of 7 years Marc Anthony have issued a statement announcing that they are ending their marriage. Seemingly out of the blue, J. Lo and Marc issued their statement late today (a Friday) in what looks to be an attempt to minimize attention. No real reason has been made public as to the cause for the split but the statement, issued to People magazine, makes it clear that the decision to split was “difficult”.

After seven years of marriage, it’s over for Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony. “We have decided to end our marriage,” they tell PEOPLE exclusively in a joint statement. “This was a very difficult decision. We have come to an amicable conclusion on all matters. It is a painful time for all involved,” the statement continues, “and we appreciate the respect of our privacy at this time.” Lopez, 41, and Anthony, 42, wed in June 2004 in a casual – and secret – ceremony at Lopez’s Beverly Hills home. They have two children, 3-year-old twins Max and Emme.

Wow. This is surprising to me. In all honesty, I thought these two weren’t going to last this long. It’s not that they never seemed happy or anything like that, they just never seemed like the right match to me. Jen hooked up with Marc after her very painful, very public break-up with Ben Affleck (remember Bennifer?). I always thought the relationship would turn out to be a rebound. 7 years of marriage and 2 children have proved me wrong … and yet, they still broke up. Here’s hoping things work out the best for the both of them … and, of course, their young children. What do y’all think of this break-up news? Are you surprised?

‘Entertainment Weekly’ Releases MORE Photos From ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’

Posted: 15 Jul 2011 02:30 PM PDT

Yesterday we got our first look at actor Andrew Garfield on the cover and in the pages of this week’s issue of Entertainment Weekly magazine in costume as Spider-Man from the upcoming reboot film The Amazing Spider-Man. Today we get to see a few more Amazing promo photos released today by EW mag. This new batch features a lot more Peter Parker, check out the photos below.

HMMMM. As much as I still don’t think the world really needs an entire new Spider-Man movie franchise so soon after we got the last one, I will say that I am really digging these photos. The Spider-Man costume looks way cooler this time around. I guess I don’t really see Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker just yet, I deffo think he can pull off the role. These photos are fun. I’m glad we get to see so many this early before the film comes out next year.

Movie Review: ‘Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows – Part 2′

Posted: 15 Jul 2011 01:12 PM PDT

That’s it … the end is HERE. For real. Over. Fin. Dunzo. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 — the absolute FINAL Harry Potter film — opened in theaters here in the US last night at midnight and I was among the lucky folks were able to see it as soon as it opened nationwide. Let me just say this right off the bat … this final Harry Potter film does not disappoint. You want an epic ending, you get an epic ending. You want scenes that will make you cry your eyes out? You got it. You want the most satisfying end possible to a film franchise that has entertained and delighted audiences for a decade? Look no further … Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 delivers in spades.

The first thing I want to comment on is the 3D. Many films have been using 3D to death, oftentimes taking away from the enjoyment of the film. The Deathly Hallows is not one of those films. The 3D is used perfectly … not too much but enough to wow at key points thruout the film. Those of you hesitant to see The Deathly Hallows in 3D should reconsider. For me, the 3D really added to the experience (and the fact that the 3D glasses we got looked like Harry‘s glasses helped too). Now … for the meat of the film … the story. Because the final Harry Potter book is so epic, the movie version had to be broken into 2 films. Even still, not everything could be included … but believe me, this final Harry Potter film offers all of the key points from the book that simply had to be included. I managed to keep a dry eye for a while into the film but once Professor Minerva McGonagall ordered the suits of armor to protect Hogwart’s School, I started to lose it. I still contend that the book is better than the film but this film managed to hit the same emotional notes that the book did when I first read it. I think you’d be hard pressed to find someone say they were not happy with the way this film turned out. I loved it entirely. I didn’t want it to end …even tho, well … as with all good things … it had to end.

It is my personal opinion that JK Rowling will go down in history as one of the greatest authors of all time. Her name and stories will be remembered alongside greats like Hans Christian Andersen and the Brothers Grimm. Make no mistake about it … Rowling is a masterful storyteller. When you consider how perfectly she crafted the lore of Harry Potter, it seems easy to believe that her work will be remembered and loved for all time. Movies can never truly do books justice, I will always believe this. But Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows manages to do a freaking fantastic job of bringing the words from Rowling‘s book to life. Without any exaggeration at all, I say this final Harry Potter film is epic. And I can’t wait to see it again … and again … and again.

Have you seen the movie yet? What do y’all think? Let me know in the comments below.

Twice As Nice

Posted: 15 Jul 2011 12:52 PM PDT

Last night, Darion and I went to a double feature of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Parts 1 & 2 (review forthcoming) and we had THE BEST TIME EVER. Despite the fact that we were both kinda bummed that we were about to bear witness to the LAST Harry Potter film, we were happy to be doing so together. D and I spent some of our time reminiscing about the HP films over the years. My advice for those of you who are excited for/dreading the end of Harry Potter, see the movie with a best friend.

I couldn’t find a Harry Potter shirt in time so I wore my House Griffindor tie with my Harry Potter-style 3D glasses. While there were other folks in the theater much more elaborately dressed, I think my outfit was quite fetching :) Darion and I had a blast … take my advice, see this movie with a BFF. It’ll make the experience all the more enjoyable.

Tonight, David and I are getting out of town in order to avoid the forthcoming Carmegeddon Weekend … taking our first trip ever to Palm Springs, CA. In the 5 years I’ve lived here, I’ve never once visited Palm Springs. The 405 freeway shutdown/nightmare has given us a great excuse to get out of LA. I’m excited for our weekend. Happy Friday!!

Watch: ‘Glee: The 3D Concert Movie’ Releases A First Movie Trailer

Posted: 15 Jul 2011 11:38 AM PDT

In the wake of the (not so) surprising news that lead actors Lea Michele, Chris Colfer and Cory Monteith will be leaving Glee after the upcoming 3rd season, today we get to feast our eyes on the first movie trailer for the upcoming Glee film. Presented in 3D, Glee: The 3D Concert Movie will bring to movie theaters the hit, sold-out live concert tour that’s been wowing audiences over the past few months. Click below to check it out.

I’m pretty sure that some of you (many of you?) are suffering major bouts of Glee fatigue but, I’m not gonna lie, when I saw this trailer on the big screen last night … I suddenly got excited. The 3D version of this trailer was shown in front of midnight showings of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 last night and it looked really cool. Glee may be losing (some of) its steam on the small screen, but in a 3D concert setting … it might be worth checking out. I think this looks good, don’t you?

First Look: The New Off-Broadway Production Of ‘Rent’ Is Featured In ‘Vanity Fair’ Magazine

Posted: 15 Jul 2011 11:08 AM PDT

Rent is back on Broadway … well, off-Broadway but … you know what I mean. After an amazingly successful 12-year run on Broadway (and many successful touring productions both here in the US and abroad), Rent is settling down again in NYC with an all new production, an all new cast and all of the SAME music that we all know and love. Vanity Fair magazine was given access to a dress rehearsal performance and they share some photos, which you can see below.

A new set! New costumes! Up close and personal with Roger and Mimi! VF.com has a first look at a redesigned production of Jonathan Larson's Rent, which returns to N.Y.C.'s New World Stages after its groundbreaking 12-year Broadway run. Director Michael Greif, who also helmed the original Broadway and Off Broadway productions, has a creative team that has transformed the beloved story of a group of young artists in New York's East Village. So blare the Rent soundtrack, and take a sneak peek at the already electric dress rehearsal.

Rent is, without a doubt, one of my all-time fave musicals of all time. I’ve seen it well over 50 times and I am really excited to see this all new NY production again. I already have my tix to see Rent in NYC early next month so I’m really looking forward to seeing the show again. The last production of the show I saw was here in LA at the Hollywood Bowl. That performance, while fun, wasn’t great. These photos have me really amped to see the show as it was meant to be seen … in New York City. Don’t these photos look rad? Any Rentheads in the hiz? Any plans to see this new production?

Elizabeth Hurley Puts The Moves On Chace Crawford On The Set Of ‘Gossip Girl’

Posted: 15 Jul 2011 10:39 AM PDT

Elizabeth Hurley, who was supposed to play the villainous Veronica Cale in the upcoming Wonder Woman reboot (that was, unfortch, not picked up by NBC), has popped up on the NYC set of Gossip Girl. Liz has been cast as Diana Payne and, as you can see from the photos below, she has her sights firmly planted on Chace Crawford‘s character Nate Archibald. Um, all I can say is … get it, gurl!

On a street corner on New York’s Upper East Side, a cougar moves in for the kill. This is how a scene of Gossip Girl played out this week when Elizabeth Hurley arrived on set to film her role with her much younger co-star Chace Crawford. The 46-year-old was pictured gripping the 25-year-old’s face firmly as she pulled him close and planted a kiss on him. Chace stood passively with his hands in his pockets, but didn’t seem too upset by the aggressive move by the attractive older woman. Elizabeth looked typically sexy in a plunging red dress as she began work as her glamorous character Diana Payne. The model and businesswoman looked in her element as she filmed the saucy scenes, at one point throwing a cheeky smile at photographers over her shoulder … They both clutched scripts and laughed and chatted as they stood together on the New York side walk. Elizabeth still looked stylish in the casual ensemble which included oversized sunglasses, a peach camisole and jeans. It was recently announced that she would be joining the teen cast for several episodes on the forthcoming fifth series of the show.

You know, for as much as Chuck Bass (played by Ed Westwick) is the “badboy playboy” on GG, Nate Archibald gets his fair share of beautiful women. Fans of the show will remember that this isn’t Nate‘s first relationship with an older woman. I guess we’ll have to wait and see who Diana really is on the show … and how far these two will take their … involvement ;)

Vanessa Hudgens Shows Off A Severe New Look For Her New Movie

Posted: 15 Jul 2011 10:01 AM PDT

High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens is trying to expand her acting portfolio by taking on a gritty new film role that requires her to undergo a pretty severe make-over. In Gimme Shelter, Vanessa plays a pregnant teen who has been tossed into the streets and must fend for herself … so it’s basically Papa Don’t Preach: The Movie. Vanessa‘s Shelter character, as you can see below, makes her look much different than we are used to. Tattoos? Check. Body piercings? Check. Take a look below.

It’s Vanessa Hudgens as you’ve never seen her before! The 22-year-old actress shed her squeaky clean Disney image on the set of her new movie yesterday in Newark, NJ — where she was sporting cropped hair, an and lip eyebrow piercing, a few extra pounds and neck tattoos. Hudgens is currently filming a movie called “Gimme Shelter,” where she plays a young girl who gets kicked out of her father’s home after becoming pregnant and deciding to keep the baby. Of the movie, Vanessa recently said “I have been so stupidly busy working on Gimme Shelter. I’m so excited and proud of the work I’ve been doing and let me tell you, you all are going to be SHOCKED with how I look in this movie. It’s crazy sauce. Lol only one more week of shooting till I’m done!”

While I severely doubt that Gimme Shelter will be Oscar material, it’s no secret that folks in Hollywood take on these “ugly” roles to get critical acclaim or to prove seriousness to their craft. By showing the regular folk that pretty Hollywood celebs can be “ugly” too, actors tend to get the attention they seek. I think it’s hilar to see Vanessa lookin’ like this … now, let’s see if she has the acting chops to pull off the role.

Listen: Blink 182, ‘Up All Night’

Posted: 15 Jul 2011 09:16 AM PDT

Late yesterday, the pop/punk band Blink-182 unveiled for the first time a new single titled Up All Night which will appear on their forthcoming as-yet-untitled new album. After breaking up a few years ago, it would seem, the guys decided to get back together to make some new music. Up All Night is the band’s first new music release since 2003. Wanna listen? Check it out below.

The song, IMHO, has that Blink-182 feel but it deffo has a bit of a new sound as well. Listen to the track in full and see what you think:

Any Blink fans in the hiz? What do y’all think? I have to admit, I was pretty bummed when the guys decided to break up. I’m not a huge fan but I did love their singles … they were a fun band. It sounds like they missed that fun, decided to show a bit more of a “rock” edge and wanted to come back for more. Are you impressed by this first new single in 8 years? Do you want to hear more?

Victoria Beckham Tweets About Her Newborn Daughter Harper Seven

Posted: 15 Jul 2011 08:57 AM PDT

One day after Harper Seven Beckham was born last Sunday, proud papa David Beckham posted some information about his newborn daughter (including her name) on his official Facebook profile. Yesterday, 4 days after Harper‘s birth, proud mama Victoria Beckham finally broke her silence and commented on her new arrival on her official Twitter profile. Needless to say, the entire Beckham Bunch is THRILLED to have a new member of the family … as is evident from Vicki B‘s tweets below.

I can only imagine the amount of love this little princess is getting showered with by the entire Beckham family right now. VB has longed for a daughter for so long … it’s really fantastic that she finally got the girl she’s always wanted. Considering how quickly Becks spoke up about baby Harper on Facebook and VB spoke up on Twitter, I suspect we won’t have to wait too long until we get to see the first photo of Harper Seven. I gotta admit, I’m still not crazy about the name … but I’m certain this precious little doll is going to turn out to be the cutest. baby. ever.
