Michelle Bachmann Wins Iowa Straw Poll

Posted: 14 Aug 2011 12:40 PM PDT

Michelle Bachmann won the Iowa straw poll, somehow.

In spite of her disappearing act (above) and generally not being a legitimate candidate at all for people who want a legitimate solution to all our real problems as a nation, she managed to squeak past Ron Paul who sat at #2.

Though the pickings seemed pretty slim regardless, the Iowa straw poll is "considered the first significant political test for Republican candidates in the 2012 presidential race."

We feel like someone is Punking a lot of people, just without the hilarious reveal.

Please come out and say you got us, Ashton!

Video Games See Huge July Decline

Posted: 14 Aug 2011 12:20 PM PDT

Is it a lack of games, or are people just heading outside for their entertainment this summer??

The video game industry saw a huge decline between June/July 2010 and June/July 2011 -- a 20% drop.

How much is 20%?

Well, it's the difference between $855.3 million and $687 million.

Sales of game systems dropped the most (29%), from $313.8 million to $223 million, while software dropped 17% from $403.3 milllion to $336.2 million. Sales of video game accessories dropped 8% from $138.1 million to $127.8 million.

"There is no getting around the fact that video game sales in the new physical retail channel suffered its lowest month since October 2006," said NPD analyst Anita Frazier. "Despite the very rough month, new physical retail sales are down just 4% year-to-date and based on seasonality trends observed over the last 10 years, which have been remarkably stable year-in, year-out, industry sales in this particular channel are poised to land in the flat to -2% range once the total year is completed."

The source does say that for the year sales will probably be up, and with big September releases (like the Halo remake and Gears 3), things should spike back up heading into the fall and holiday seasons!

Have U been buying video games lately??

Vintage RiRi!

Like we always say, better late than never!

We had completely forgotten about one of favorite songs by Rihanna, If It's Lovin' That You Want, when we stumbled across a music video for the 2005 single that we had never seen before!

Ch-ch-check it out (above)!

It's amazing how far she's come since then, but she looks just as GORGEOUS as ever!

We approve, girl! Get yourself back on the beach at some point soon!

It agrees with you!

New Edition Star Sued Over Twitter Comments!

Posted: 14 Aug 2011 11:00 AM PDT

We wonder if he'll have a solid argument!

Johnny Gill was recently sued by a record producer who claimed that the New Edition star damaged her reputation by writing on Twitter that she leaked one of his songs onto the internet!

However, he's claiming that this is bull shiz, because people shouldn't be allowed to sue over the social networking site!

He claims:

"The courtrooms would be filled with a bunch of Twitter people complaining about things people say every day...It's freedom of speech."

That's true - but if she didn't do it and you published that she did, then that's libel, Sir!

We suppose we'll see how the courts feel!

What do U think?? Is he right?

New Footloose Trailer Hits The Web!

Posted: 14 Aug 2011 10:40 AM PDT

Guess one just wasn't enough!

After many complained that the theatrical trailer released for the updated version of Footloose followed too closely to the plot of the original, a second version has been released, featuring more scenes with new leads Kenny Wormald and Julianne Hough!

Ch-ch-check it out (above)!

Definitely LOVING the energy here!

We'll be curious to see how this holds up, though!

The original is a CLASSIC!

What do U think?? Are U looking forward to Footloose?

Dear La Amada Hotel…THIS SUCKS!

Posted: 14 Aug 2011 10:20 AM PDT

Absolutely deplorable!

We're disgusted to report that a gay couple planning to get married on a "vacation wedding" at the luxurious, five-star La Amada Hotel in Mexico were apparently told by the staff, via letter, that they would not be allowed to do so on their property!

According to the e-mail:

"Dear [redacted], Thank you for your interests for La Amada Hotel. Being a family friendly resort, we unfortunately cannot support or perform a gay wedding. I understand you want to have a small intimate ceremony, but we cannot proceed."

Unbelievable!

Oh, how silly of us! We forget that two adults in love and wanting to celebrate that with a ceremony impedes upon the resort's ability to be "family-friendly!"

Oh wait. IT DOESN'T.

Everyone involved in this decision should be absolutely ashamed of themselves, and we sincerely hope that their potential clientele take SERIOUS notice of this kind of behavior!

EQUAL RIGHTS FOR ALL!

Disney Axes Johnny Depp's The Lone Ranger!

Posted: 14 Aug 2011 09:40 AM PDT

Remember when we said that after a variety of production snags, Johnny Depp's big screen version of The Lone Ranger was in the works?

We take it back.

Disney has reportedly pulled the plug on the flick, and although there's no official reason, sources close to production claim that director Gore Verbinski and the studio bigwigs could not agree on a budget! Combine that with the lackluster success of Cowboys & Aliens, and the movie was basically screwed!

Too bad! We would have loved to see our boy get down and dirty in the old west!

Oh well! At least we still have Dark Shadows to look forward to!

Maria Shriver and her kids, acting as if they don't have a care in the world, while cruising around Cape Cod.

Maria, along with her son Patrick and daughter Christina, enjoyed a ride on the Nantucket Sound, along with Maria's brother Anthony.

Bygones be bygones. Maria is moving on with her life. We couldn't be happier for her!
