RUMOR CONTROL: Russell Simmons Says Kimora & Djimon Are JUST FINE!

After yesterday's rumors that Kimora & Djimon Hounsou's marriage was on the rocks, KiKi's ex Russell Simmons has stepped in to do damage control.  Check it inside...

After the NY Daily News reported that kimora & Djimon were splitting due to fighting over Russell's money, Russell has come to the couple's defense.  He posted his response today saying not only has he never given Kimora alimony (so his money is not a factor), KiKi & Djimon are doing just fine.  Russ posted:

1. Kimora and Djimon are fine.

2. Kimora and Djimon are both doing extremely well in their respective endeavors and businesses and don't need to fight over or waste energy on money issues.

3. I damn sure don't pay nor have I ever paid alimony (Kimora does just fine). In no way do I support their lifestyle, so please don't say they are fighting over MY money.

4. Yes she's selling a house, but she hasn't lived in it for several years since she built the house they currently reside in.

5. As for friction between us? There is none. I feel like I'm part of their family. Djimon and Kenzo are like my blood and Kimora is my best friend. We are partners in various businesses and in the really important business of raising our beautiful children.

RESPECTful DEGREE: Aretha Franklin RECEIVES Honorary Doctorate From Princeton University

Music legend Aretha Franklin added another prestigious award to her long list of accolades as she received an honorary doctorate from Princeton University yesterday.  Get the deets inside.....

Yesterday, the Queen of Soul was one of just six people who received honorary doctorates from Princeton University.

Ms. Franklin was all smiles as she accepted a doctor of music from the university.  University orator and trustee Stephen Oxman said Ms. Franklin had an 'impeccably bold and fearless' performance style, which took listeners on a 'journey to the depths of her soul.' He added:

'With her singular Amazing Grace, she continues to traverse musical bridges over troubled water, and by reminding us to think, do right and call on her, the Queen of Soul will forever command the world's R-E-S-P-E-C-T.'

She may not be geting married anytime soon, but she's got more prestige in her pocket.  Congrats!

SPOTTED: Mariah Carey & Dem Babies GLAM IT UP At The Airport In France + J.R. Martinez SHOWS OFF New Daughter Lauryn Anabelle

Mariah Carey was spotted at the airport in France with "Dem Babies" yesterday.  See the pics inside and a photo of J.R. Martinez's new baby girl....

Mariah Carey, who performed in Monaco recently, was spotted with Dem Babies at Nice Cote d'Azur airport in France yesterday.

 

The singer rocked a cute ruffled black dress as she held Moroccan (with Monroe not far behind).

She tweeted recently, On my way home, hope I make this plane so I don't miss Nurse Jackie: ) Only MiMi could walk through an airport like this and it seem totally normal.

In other baby news...

Actor and "DWTS" winner J.R. Martinez showed off his adorable daughter Lauryn Anabelle (with girlfriend Diana Gonzalez-Jones) in the latest issue of PEOPLE.  He told the mag, “I just love to hold her.  I kiss her non-stop all day long.” In PEOPLE’s June 18 issue, he continued,

“The minute she was born I was like, ‘This is where I’m meant to be.’ I felt excitement and love and it was all about her.  I’ll be holding her and think, ‘This is my daughter’ — it’s language I’m still getting used to.”

As far as Lauryn's sleeping goes, he said, “It’s been easy so far.  She’s eating, sleeping six, seven hours a night. It’s crazy!”

WHOA: Iman & Hubby David Bowie Celebrate 20 YEARS OF MARRIAGE!

Yeah we're in a lovey dovey mood.  So when we came across supermodel Iman's announcement that today, she and rocker husband David Bowie are celebrating their 20 year wedding anniversary, we gotta say we got all mushy inside.

First Lady Michelle Obama stopped by the "Late Show" last night to deliver a hilarious version of David Letterman's Top 10 list. Watch it inside.....

 

Last night, First Lady Michelle Obama stopped by David Letterman's "Late Show" to present the Top 10 "fun facts" about gardening.  The segment not only promoted her American Grown: The Story of the White House Kitchen Garden and Gardens Across America book, but also served to promote President Obama's campaign.  

The clip ends with Mrs. Obama saying,  "With enough care and effort you can grow your own Barack-oli," and showing a head of the vegetable shaped like the President.

R&B singer Teairra Mari has posted an interview clip where she discusses her struggles in the music business and her upcoming projects.  See the interview inside as well as Kanye West popping off on a fan for shining a laser during his performance and Luke James' video for "Mo' Better Blues."

Teairra Mari, who stole many scenes on VH1's Love & Hip Hop, has released a new interview clip for her fans to explains where she's been and what she is up to.  In the clip, she discusses the ups and downs of her career thus far, working with Rico Love and the time she spent with Roc-A-Fella.

Talented crooner (and New Orleans native) Luke James, who opened for Beyonce during her Revel concerts, has dropped a new video for his song "Mo' Better Blues." The BJ Coulter and Christian Bennett-directed video features the crooner singing to her lady under blue and red lights.  Luke, who's written for Britney Spears and Chris Brown, is currently working on his Made to Love album.

If you ever wondered what heroin, crack, and crystal meth sounded like set to music, the cast of "The Wire" got together for a funny clip with Funny Or Die where they sing about America's failing drug war. Watch it inside.....

 

The folks over at Funny Or Die’s just dropped a funny clip reuniting The Wire’s Michael Kenneth Williams, Sonja Sohn, Larry Gillard Jr., Andre Royo and Felicia “Snoop” Pearson.  In “The Wire: The Musical,” the cast is depicting America’s failing drug war through the magic of song. Something for you "Wire" fans.

Ludacris and his gorgeous girlfriend Eudoxie hit up Club Reign with Keshia Knight Pulliam, Ne-Yo & fiancee (yeah she's still rocking that huge diamond on her ring finger so apparently they've made it official) Monyetta Shaw.  Plus, Kandi Burruss partied it up at Havana Club for the launch of SKYY Coconut Infusions.  Check out the party pics inside...

Nicki Minaj ADDRESSES Funkmaster Flex On THE BREAKFAST CLUB, Throws More Shade At Lil' Kim

Nicki Minaj called into The Breakfast Club to discuss her Summer Jam 2012 cancellation, her fight night phone call with Funkmaster Flex, and she also threw some shade at Lil' Kim. Deets inside......

"I'm not pulling the female card, but I was the only female on the bill!"  Nicki Minaj called into The Breakfast Club earlier to discuss the disrepectful (according to Nicki) remarks made by HOT 97 personality Peter Rosenberg at Summer Jam 2012.

"You should think about that before you attack the only woman on the bill.  Something should kick in.  This girl....I may not like one or two songs but she's holding it down for every female in Hip Hop at this moment."

During the discussion, The Breakfast Club came to Nicki's defense commenting that the male DJs rarely "go at" male hip-hop stars and many viewed Peter as being sexist.

DJ Envy added, "Lil Wayne made the perfect decision; I would've pulled her a long time ago. They belittle women, and let's be serious they're the number 8 morning show in the market." WOMP.

Nicki said she doesn't expect an apology though. "Everybody makes mistakes, but you have to own your mistakes. And that's the problem. When you don't own it, people feel like you can do this in the future and get away with it."

Nicki added that she learned a valuable lesson about self-respect and her own worth over the weekend.  "What I don't do is perform in a place where they don't respect me."

Nicki also said that a performance with Foxy Brown at Summer Jam 2012 had been planned for months and that Foxy was very supportive of her decision to cancel her show.

She also threw shade at Lil' Kim (surprise, surprise) when DJ Envy said he heard a rumor that Nicki had planned to stage a "funeral scene" featuring a Lil' Kim look-a-like. Before he could even finish, Nicki cut him off saying, "That's not even in my character. Please stop spreading rumors giving people false hope that they are still relevant."

She continued, "I am not about to bring death on my stage. My stage is about life and love. Period."

She also reiterated that she will soon do a free show for the NY/NJ area to make it up to her fans.

It's a color blocking FACE OFF!  Singer Alicia Keys & Singer/TV Personality Mel B. both rocked the Stella McCartney's Fall 2012 black & white color blocked stretch jersey contour dress recently.

At the Fall 2012 Stella McCartney Fashion Show in Paris this past March, Alicia Keys popped up in the popular color blocked Stella McCartney dress that hugged all her post-baby curves.  She paired her look with Stella McCartney's black & white pointed toe pumps with a black clutch from the same collection and only a pair of studs for earrings.

Mel B. was spotted in the same Stella McCartney dress earlier today as she left the Lowry Hotel in Manchester, England.  The British hottie was on her way to guest judge the "X-Factor" auditions.  And she paired her look with black Versace pumps, small earrings, a diamond bracelet and her wedding ring.
