SPOTTED: Russell Simmons And Heidi Klum Stretch It Out In The Park

Russell Simmons and Heidi Klum were spotted at Riverbank State Park in NYC yesterday for an outdoor yoga class.  Come inside and watch yogis Russell and Heidi salute the sun.....

Russell Simmons was spotted spreading the joys of meditation and stretching to his celebrity pal, model and "Project Runway" host, Heidi Klum yesterday.

They let you snap pics during yoga?  He wrote his twitter page:

'Taught yoga to @HeidiKlum and class go to heidiklum.aol.com. (Inspiration to workout initiative).'

 

Heidi later wrote about the class on her webpage saying: 

'I asked my buddy Russell Simmons to join me on my summer run and I got a big, capital NO! 'But, he invited me for one of his 90 minute yoga practices in the park with his favorite teacher, Jules Febre. I don't do yoga and I'm not very flexible but I was open to giving it a try!

'It's all about where YOU are in the moment. You don't do this for others or what they may think of you, you do it for you!'

 

 

Designer Rachel Roy (in a black t-shirt and sunglasses) also joined the duo as they saluted the Sun.  Cute.

YBF folks were out and about last night for the Remy Martin V official launch party at LAVO in NYC.  And they also hit Hollywood for the ESPY pre-party.

Nicki Minaj Issues Denial Of Assault

We told you yesterday that a man allegedly assaulted Nicki Minaj at a hotel in Dallas and the cops were called. But now Nicki is pretty much saying the story is untrue. Read her denial inside.....

 

We found out yesterday that Nicki Minaj and an "unidentified man," whom she shared a room with, got it poppin' with a hostile argument at a hotel in Dallas and the police were called. 

The story being tossed around was that Nicki was hit in the lower lip by the man she is "not in a relationship with" but "shared a room with."

Via her Twitter page, Nicki had this to say:

The fact that u believe a man either slapped or punched me in the face & didn't leave on a stretcher w/his balls hangin off? #getaF%cknLife    

Then.....

The media could pee on ur leg & tell u its raining. You'd believe it. You'd believe u were an adopted martian if TMZ told u so. #stopit5

Crazier things have happened then people denying incidents like this--and it turning out to be true anyway.  I guess she isn't exactly saying "nothing" happened, but this does very little to clear up rumors.  And since an incident report was taken, despite her allegedly saying she wasn't going to press charges, I'm sure that will hit the web soon.

DO WE LOVE IT: Kelis Rocks A Green Catsuit With Bird Feathers In Her Hair

Kelis has always been known to push fashion's envelope and last night was no exception as she donned a sparkling green catsuit and topped it off with real feathers in her hair for a Greek goddess look. Come inside and decide if we love it...... 

Kelis looked like she was on her way to meet the Wiz last night as she performed at London's Wembley Arena for an Orange RockCorps show. She wore an emerald green catsuit and real bird's wings in her hair. Hmm...I see she's still not making nice with PETA. Or people who hate camel toes.

So....Kelis' latest daring fashion choice......

FRESH FACE: YBF Chick Miss London 2011 Rissikat Bade!

We love a YBF fresh face.  And here's one from across the pond.  Rissikat Bade was crowned Miss London recently....and she's readying for the Miss World pageant.  But she says since no modeling agencies would hire her, she decided to go get a law degree instead.

Rissikat is from Brixton and is a 21 year-old Nigerian law student.  She moved to Southbank London at 16 after years of studying in Ukraine. And since the next for any beauty queen is the next level of crowning, you would think she would be all in to win the Miss England (finale takes place on July 19th) and then later the Miss World title.  Especially being that not many YBF chicks get this opportunity.

But instead, she told the London Evening Standard that since she was rejected by hundreds of modeling agencies (aside from the contract she won from Muse Management UK as part of her prize), her priority is her law degree:

"I definitely plan to continue with my law study. I never thought of I would drop my university study for anything. Education is important to me and it's important for a good life I think in general.

"I'm not saying university is the only way to get a job or be successful, but I do think education is a good thing if you can afford it."

"If I get offered any more contracts I will try to balance both. I'm studying law because it's something I like to study, I just did an
internship and I really enjoyed it.

"I'm trying to keep my options open for after university but if I can do something practical and creative that would be my dream."

And for those who criticize pageants, she says:

"None of the entrants I have met are bimbos, all the girls have to show something more than their beauty. There is nothing wrong with celebrating beautiful women trying to promote their country and trying to be good role-models.

"Miss England is not like any fashion show where you just walk down the catwalk, you have to be able to speak in public and show something more than your looks."

So she's still on the fence on whether or not she will actually compete in the higher pageant.

I think she's gorge and hopefully will do both jobs of pursuing her law degree as well as her higher title.  Good luck to Rissikat!

The album has been a long time coming and Jay-Z admitted to MTV News that the LP is actually on its third iteration.

He said he and Kanye were looking to make a grandiose project with elaborate songs, but they felt that doing so would take away from its enjoyment.

"It's just so big and so much, you don't want that sh-- screaming in your house," Jay-Z said, referring to their early single, "H.A.M." "If we don't make records that we like and represent the culture, we would be over."

Fans of DMX shouldn't hold their breathe while waiting on his release from prison. 

 

TMZ reports that the rapper has been partaking in foolywangery while locked up in Arizona, racking up a litany of new charges including drug possession, disorderly conduct and refusing to take a drug test.

Although he was supposed to be released today, his new infractions will add another week to his time.  WOMP.

INSIDE Monica & Shannon Brown's Stunning Wedding!

Video surfaced today from inside Monica and L.A. Laker Shannon Brown's second wedding.  And the glamorous Los Angeles wedding was just as fabulous as you imagined.

Monica's wedding gown had a 50 pound extra elaborate train.  She went to Paris to have designer Stephane Rolland design both her ceremony gown and her reception dress.  And it was all stunning.  The couple, who wed at the beautiful Vibiana cathedral venue, had several members in their bridal party--including Ciara, Vanessa Bryant, Kobe Bryant and Derek Fisher.  And about 300 of their closest fam and friends in attendance.  And it was a blue-themed wedding wonderland.

LL Cool J gushed about how beautiful the ceremony (and music thanks to J.D.) was.  LaLa said "love was in the air."  And the bride herself was giddy and extra happy when The Insider caught up with her at her reception: "I was just overwhelmed. I'm glad because I didn't think about this 50 lb train that I was dragging behind me. I just had to take a deep breath, because I was really trying not to cry.

Mo's fam Ludacris couldn't make the ceremony, but he sent a jet for the couple to fly off to their honeymoon in Anguilla.

HOUSING CRISIS: R. Kelly Faces Foreclosure On His Chicago Mansion

R. Kelly is facing a $2.9 million foreclosure suit on his mansion in the south suburbs of Chicago.  Get the deets inside....

 

R. Kelly may not have served any jail time for child pornography, but the aftermath of the trial still haunts him.  He currently faces a $2.9 million foreclosure suit on his 11,000 sq. ft. mansion in Olympia Fields, outside of Chicago.

While R. Kelly's camp says he hasn't paid the mortgage since June 2010 in an attempt to force the bank to modify the loan, his former managers say otherwise. 
 

Last month, Prospect Park LLC, the former management company of R. Kelly, filed a $1-million lawsuit in Los Angeles saying that Robert withheld commissions because the money was,

“...needed instead to ‘pay off' various individuals threatening to expose alleged illicit, embarrassing and unlawful conduct by Kelly, including sexual misconduct.” 

Hmm...So maybe that's where the mortgage money went too?  R has put this house on the market a few times.  So maybe he'll be trying that route again....

Nicki Minaj PUNCHED By A Man At Dallas Hotel....Claims They're Not In A Relationship...And She's NOT Pressing Charges!

Something ain't sounding all the way right.  Nicki Minaj was allegedly punched in the lower lip by a man after a hostile argument at a Dallas hotel yesterday.

 

And she's NOT pressing charges for some reason.  Deets inside....

 

TMZ reports Nicki got into a heated argument with an "unidentified man"...who she confirms she was staying with...while at poolside at a hotel in Dallas yesterday.  Apparently, the verbal smackdown led to a physical one once the two got back tot he room.  And the man punched Nicki in her lower lip.

Nicki told a hotel employee to call the police before both she and the "unidentified man" headed to their room after a big argument poolside:

Nicki told a hotel employee to call police ... while the man went to their hotel room. Nicki followed soon after.

When cops and paramedics arrived, Nicki told authorities their poolside fight continued inside of their room ... and the man hit her in her lower lip.

The man had already left the scene when cops arrived ... but Nicki insisted she did NOT want to press charges. Nicki also claimed she was NOT in a relationship with the alleged attacker.

What in the HELL?  Now I know they're saying this man is "unidentified."  And Nicki claims she and the man are not a couple. But they're close enough to share a room together right?  Hmmm.

And...thanks to our sleuth skills...we learned her rumored boyfriend and hype man Safaree was indeed "poolside" yesterday as well.  He even tweeted about it saying, "Poolside thanking god to be alive... AHHHHHHHHHHH....

And we all know she doesn't like to claim the two are a couple despite the fact everyone close to them says they are.  But the real question here is....what part of the game is this when a chick who claims to be the hardest Queen Bee of all that is Holy lets ANY man touch her...and she doesn't press charges?  We've seen this scenario many-a-times.  What's REALLY hood here?

Tyler Perry Reveals He Almost Became A "Baby Daddy" In The August 2011 Issue Of "EBONY"

In the latest issue of EBONY Magazine, Tyler Perry opens up about the three most impactful events in his life over the past few years.  Oh, and he talks about a the slip up that almost made him a baby daddy. No, for real.  Get the deets inside......

 

Tyler Perry covers the August 2011 "Black Wealth Issue" of EBONY where he reveals his definition of wealth saying,

 "I've always been wealthy because I had a tremendous amount of love from my mother. She didn't have much, but she gave me Jesus."

Reflecting on his life, Tyler opened up about the 3 significant events in recent years that profoundly changed him.  He said the first was that he turned 40 in September 2009.  Then he lost his mother Willie Maxine Perry. And lastly, he
appeared on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" in December 2010 where he shared details about the sexual abuse he endured and the beatings/mental abuse by his father.

He added that he waited until his mother's passing before revealing the abuse.

"When my mother took her last breath, I was able to take my first because I would not be a source of pain for her as long as she was alive," he said. I didn't know how liberating it would be to sit in the pain of the moment, feel it, allow myself to squeeze it as hard as I could then let it go".

 

He also revealed that he is no longer angry at Spike Lee and will never be critical of him again.

"Because I saw his children and forgot that the man has kids," he said. "I'm gonna be more respectful of him and his family". "I believe Spike can do what he does and I can do what I do. We both have a voice and very different experiences in life. There's room for more than one of us in every industry, and the moment we embrace that as a society, we can get past all this stuff".

 

Then Tyler dropped a bomb and revealed in the issue that he almost became a baby daddy:

 "Back in December" he began "when we thought we were having a kid, I got overwhelmed. "We" (the interviewer asked) Is there a woman in your life? "Yeah" he responded--smiling yet no elaborating. He says, "she is really, really special. It's the longest relationship I've been in, largely because I don't feel any kind of marry-me-now pressure from her".

 

The fact this "mystery woman" of his is still such a damn mystery for this long is making me think....nevermind.

VACAY FAB: Samuel L. Jackson & Wife Latanya Join Magic Johnson And Cookie In Italy

It looks like former NBA baller Magic Johnson, former pro-baseballer Dave Winfield, and actor Samuel L. Jackson are spending a part of this summer in Italy as they were spotted eating gelato and strolling through the city with their wives recently.  See the pics inside....

 

Samuel Jackson and his wife Latanya Richardson joined Magic Johnson and his wife Cookie and former MLBer Dave Winfield for a stroll through Portofino, Italy recently. 

Magic and Sam snacked on some gelato during their stroll.

 

Then the group boarded a boat and took in the fresh air and water.

Later in the evening, the group went out for a nice dinner.  And when Mr. Jackson gets back, he'll be starring in the Broadway play "The Mountaintop" with Angela Bassett.  Nice.

Michael Irvin Covers The August 2011 Issue Of "OUT" Magazine, Taking A Stand For His Late Gay Brother And Equality

In a very open and honest interview for the August 2011 issue of OUT Magazine, NFL Hall of Famer Michael Irvin talks about his beloved gay brother, equality and acceptance, and why he is on a mission to end homophobia.

In the August 2011 issue of OUT Magazine, a small group of straight sports stars who have stood up for fairness and tolerance of their LGBT peers are profiled. One of the outspoken stars in the issue is former Dallas Cowboys player Michael Irvin.   

Michael Irvin is an interesting character.  He was voted one of the best football players of all time and he fits all of the macho stereotypes associated with the sport.  He was a cocky womanizer who regularly got into trouble with the law, drugs, coaches and other players.  But now as a retired athlete and popular sportscaster, Michael has looked back on his past actions and determined many of his antics stemmed from his childhood relationship with his gay brother.

In the article he tells a story about coming home one day with his father and seeing his older bro, Vaughn, leaving the house in women's clothing.  Though the family knew Vaughn was gay, Michael says they never spoke of it. 

He later determined in therapy that many of his cocky mannerisms and womanizing ways were in response to his brother Vaughn.  He felt like he was repelling that gay vibe by sleeping with lots of women and being hypermasculine. 

"I’m not gay, but I was afraid to even let anyone have the thought. I can only imagine the agony—being a prisoner in your own mind -- for someone who wants to come out. If I’m not gay and I am afraid to mention it, I can only imagine what an athlete must be going through if he is gay.”

 

That's why Michael says he would be supportive of any major athlete who came out of the closet.

“If anyone comes out in those top four major sports, I will absolutely support him,” says Irvin. “That’s why I do my radio show every day. When these issues come out, I want to have a voice to speak about them. I think growth comes when we share. Until we do that, we’re going to be stuck in the Dark Ages about a lot of things. When a guy steps up and says, ‘This is who I am,’ I guarantee you I’ll give him 100% support.”

 

 

So what's behind Michael's new campaign for equality?  He says he realized that after all his sports accolades are footnotes, he now wants to focus creating a better society.

“The last thing I want is to go to God and have him ask, ‘What did you do?’ And I talk about winning Super Bowls and national titles,” Irvin says. “I didn’t do anything to make it a better world before I left? That would be scary.”

Now Michael is doing his part by offering a helping hand to the LGBT community.  And with homophobia being so prevelant in Black communities, he hopes others with join in.

"I don’t see how any African-American with any inkling of history can say that you don’t have the right to live your life how you want to live your life. No one should be telling you who you should love, no one should be telling you who you should be spending the rest of your life with. When we start talking about equality and everybody being treated equally, I don’t want to know an African-American who will say everybody doesn’t deserve equality.”

I think its great that Michael is bold enough to pose for the mag and talk about the homophobia in our community. Your thoughts?

Laz Alonso, Jessica White and Cynthia Bailey have joined a growing list of celebs participating in the FOCUS 4 LIFE campaign with proceeds benefiting the American Cancer Society.  We have promo photos of the celebs wearing their t-shirts for the cause inside.....

 

Polow da Don, his non-profit organization Foundation F.O.C.U.S., and Zone 4, Inc. have partnered to launch the FOCUS 4 LIFE campaign to build awareness and raise funds for cancer research.  The campaign has a focus on 4 key pillars of Prevention, Education, Treatment and a Cure. And several celebrities posed for the FOCUS 4 LIFE campaign photo shoot to show their support of the effort.

Maybe 2 times a charm for Valeisha Butterfield.  We told you before the WEEN chair and daughter of U.S. Congressman G. K. Butterfield and N.C. State Representative Jean Farmer – Butterfield (and BFF of "Love & Hip Hop" chick Emily B.) is now engaged to NBA baller Dahntay Jones.  And they've just released their official engagement photo ahead of their summer wedding.

Marrying a baller seems even more the thing to do these days.  Valeisha was at one point engaged to rapper Game, but that un-surprisingly didn't work out.  And she's also the ex-girlfriend of BET's Terrence J.

Now, the Indiana Pacers star and Valeisha are getting married at her family's estate in North Carolina this summer.  And they have this fab new engagement photo to boot.

The bride-to-be served in the Obama Administration from 2009 – 2011.  And she's also the co-founder and chair of the Women in Entertainment Empowerment Network (WEEN).

The groom-to-be is a New Jersey native, graduate of Duke University.  He's also the founder of the Dahntay Jones Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to the empowerment of youth.

The twosome snapped their cute engagement photo during a recent trip to Antigua.  Congrats!
