Pregnant Pink looks uncomfortable, fabulous and ready to pop

Here are some new photos of Pink and Carey Hart meeting some friends for lunch or brunch yesterday. God, I feel for Pink. Poor girl! Look how big she is. I can only imagine how uncomfortable she much be. I keep expecting for her to give birth too - it seems like she's been pregnant forever. She's rocking that white dress, though. And I LOVE her little straw hat. Pink is a super-cute pregnant lady.

That bump is really large, right? I feel like she might be carrying twins. Either that or it's just one BIG baby and Pink is going to go into labor any day now. Pink said before that she thinks she's carrying a girl, because of karma and stuff. But she has a name prepared if it's a boy: Jameson. God knows what she'll name a little girl. Or little girls, because, you know, she's huge.

Should be make the speculation interesting? I'm saying that she'll give birth sometime this week. More specifically, I'd say… Wednesday. Anyone want to put money on it?

First trailer for Americanized ‘Girl With the Dragon Tattoo’ leaks: thoughts?

Okay, now is the time to start worrying about the "American-ized version" of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. These are some of the preview photos from W Magazine, which were published a few months ago. And the bootleg, low-quality first trailer is below. Now, I've seen all three of the Swedish films, and I've read the books. I loved both the books and the movies, and for me, there is only one Lisbeth Salander: Noomi Rapace. But that hasn't stopped David Fincher from thinking he could outdo the Swedish film by casting American and English (and a couple of English-speaking Swedes). The journalist Mikael Blomkvist is played by a brooding Daniel Craig - certainly interesting casting, but Mikael is supposed to be a nice, likeable, affable man who seduces women by simply being a good guy. Is that Daniel Craig? Daniel Craig can seduce women with a flash of his ice-blue eyes, but "nice" isn't a word that comes to mind. As for the controversial casting of Rooney Mara as Lisbeth… I'm really starting to worry.

Okay, that looks very much like the Swedish films. Very similar framing, similar shots. Can it just be blamed on using the same source material? Maybe. But I'm still very worried. First of all, this trailer shows way too much. If you know the story, you know that this gives away a lot of the story. Even in fast cuts, you can still see the basics. And Jesus, how sexed-up is this version? Do we really need to see Lisbeth writhing away on someone? IN THE TRAILER? This is a genuine concern: these books are primarily about violence against women, not the ceaseless, violent, psychosexual objectification of women.

And here's the thing that is making my skin itch: Lisbeth's bangs trauma!!! Oh. My. God. Granted, there's room for interpretation with Lisbeth's hair, at least in the first book. The Swedish films did a good job with her hair, I thought. But it's basically supposed to be kind of short and punk. Those little tiny bangs are really, really disturbing me though.

Kim Kardashian thinks she can out-do the royal wedding

Sometimes, when I see photos like this, I'm kind of embarrassed as an American. These are photos of Kim Kardashian and her now-fiancé Kris Humphries in Monaco this weekend. They were actually rubbing elbows with Charlene Wittstock, the fiancée of His Serene Highness Prince Albert of Monaco. Meaning that they were ALMOST hanging out with royalty. I know that Prince Albert is no Queen Elizabeth, but surely we can send Monaco some better American celebrities than Kat-face Kardashian, right? Surely we could have sent Poor Miss Wittstock someone better to pose with, right? Like… Kate Bosworth. I would understand if it was Kate Bosworth. I don't understand why Kat-face is there.

Anyway, Kim and Kris were there and they were rubbing elbows with Charlene. It was some kind of fashion show and then a dinner, I guess. Kris Humphries actually looked pretty good - meaning that he didn't look out of his element. Kim and Charlene also had dome dueling bling going on. Here are some closeups of Kim's engagement ring (the one with the Bible verses):

And here's an okay shot of Charlene's ring. I like hers better.

the_amber_lounge_42_wenn3369124

Anyway, in case you couldn't guess by now, Kim fancies herself American royalty, the First Lady of Famewhores, if you will. And hobnobbing with the house of Grimaldi isn't helping Kim's delusions. According to various sources, Kim thinks she can out-do the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. She's using the royal wedding as a blueprint. Said one source, "Kim is obsessed with the royal wedding and loves Kate and her style. She wants her wedding to be as big and grand as that – if not more so. She's dreamed of her wedding day since she was a little girl and she wants to share it will all her friends, family and fans. No expense will be spared." I really worry that in Kim's mind, when she exists the Las Vegas convention hall (or wherever she gets married), and gets in her solid gold carriage, she really thinks that all of the peasants will come out and wave to her as she rides by.

By the way, is it just me or does Charlene already look totally over this junk?

Brad Pitt on needing private time with Angelina: “There are no secrets at our house”

Posted: 29 May 2011 05:17 AM PDT

Brad Pitt has a new interview in USA Today's Weekend section, and they're claiming that this is his first big interview since 2009. Which can't be right…? Let me think… the only film he had out last year was Megamind, and I guess he didn't do that much press for it. So… maybe, sure. He's done press for Make It Right NOLA though, and it feels like he gives a handful of interviews a year for whatever reason. Anyway, the full USA Weekend piece is here - it's a nice read, with Brad mostly talking about family life, being a father, etc. Here are some highlights:

Brad on his kids: "Kids hold up a mirror to you. You can’t make excuses. You’ve got to make sure they’ve brushed their teeth and eaten a good breakfast. You want to be present if they wake up with a bad dream."

Brad on danger & the paparazzi: The responsibility weighs heavily on the now-middle-aged actor. In a display of emotion any parent would relate to, Pitt says fears about his kids’ safety "keep me up at night." But unlike in most families, Pitt’s worries have an added dimension. "We’re hunted," he says, flexing his tattooed, muscular forearm as if contemplating retaliation. "Our kids have to live behind a gate. Outside, there are people with cameras. "But I’ll take the trade-off. I never knew I was capable of experiencing so much love."

How is family has changed him: Parenthood is increasingly central to Pitt’s sense of self, influencing everything from the movies he chooses to make — "I want to leave some work behind that my kids will be proud of" — to his vision of the future with Jolie. Though he has said the couple would wait to wed until gay people could do so legally, he now acknowledges that the timetable may change. "The kids ask about marriage," he says, sinking wearily into a sofa. He takes a sip of cappuccino. "It’s meaning more and more to them. So it’s something we’ve got to look at."

His kids aren't growing up like he did: "On the road, we’re a military mobile unit," he says. "The kids have got their stuff down to one backpack, and they’re each responsible for their own bag. Mom does the packing; she’s quite gifted at that. Puts in just what we need — nothing extra." The family migrates between the multi-house Los Angeles compound he calls "our base camp" and film sets around the globe, spending downtime at a 1,000-acre estate in southern France. "We’re pretty nomadic," he says. "We go where the crops are."

More on their lifestyle: Pitt concedes that his family life "seems a bit extreme." But "I like extremes. I guess I’ve always operated that way." Still, he says, "Angie and I do everything we can to carve out some semblance of normalcy for them, to re-create the kinds of moments that were special for us. It’s not unusual for the kids to be covered in paint. We have mud fights. It’s chaos from morning until the lights go out, and sometimes after that."

Education? The older kids are home-schooled, but their parents try to create opportunities to socialize. The family sometimes sneaks past the paparazzi to an undisclosed location for a football game with friends.

Brad on private time with Angelina: Pitt and Jolie carve out time to nurture their own relationship as well. "There are no secrets at our house," Pitt says, his blue eyes crinkling in a slightly wicked smile. "We tell the kids, 'Mom and Dad are going off to kiss.’ They go, 'Eww, gross!’ But we demand it."

On aging: As he navigates his fifth decade, Pitt has begun to ponder the long term. "Will I be acting when I’m 80?" he asks rhetorically. "Definitely not."

Goals for the future: A passionate amateur photographer and architect (whose Make It Right foundation is building environmentally sustainable homes in New Orleans for low-income residents displaced by Hurricane Katrina), he aims to explore those vocations more deeply in the coming years. He also wants to improve his French and his cooking skills — now limited to bacon, eggs and flapjacks. But Pitt won’t be trading in biker boots for house slippers anytime soon. "I hope to keep riding motorcycles," he says with that devilish grin, "until I can’t stand up anymore."

[From USA Weekend]

I guess the biggest news is that Brad and Angelina announce to their kids when they're going to go off and have some private time. I think it's cute. I'm sure there are people who will hate it, but meh. As for Brad's continuing insistence that he's going to stop acting at some point… he just needs to stop talking about it. So does Angelina. I'm tired of both of them "announcing" that they're going to "stop at some point." It feels like they're doing a fake-threat to see how much love they get.

Mariska Hargitay will miss her BFF Christopher Meloni

Posted: 29 May 2011 04:43 AM PDT

wenn2011726

As we heard last week, Christopher Meloni is closing down his private gun show on Law & Order: SVU. Meloni has had a long rumored desire to leave the successful show, and I guess he was just asking for too much money during his contract renegotiations, because Meloni and the producers have now established that Meloni isn't coming back next season. Many of us wondered if they should just discontinue the series instead of forcing them to limp on, Meloni-less. Mariska Hargitay is good, but is she good enough to go it alone? Well, if I was in charge of the show, I would simply put Mariska in more episodes with Belzer and Ice-T, because she has chemistry with both men and that could totally be a watchable show. Unfortunately, it looks like Mariska already has one foot out the door, and they're probably going to cast Jennifer Love Hewitt and the Lollipop Guild.

Anyway, Hargitay has now released a statement about Meloni's departure:

One of TV’s longest-running – and hottest-looking – couples are to be no more.

This week brought the official announcement from NBC that Christopher Meloni, who has played Detective Stabler on Law & Order: SVU since the series began in 1999, will not be back for a 13th season this fall. Contract talks reportedly broke down.

That leaves his costar, Mariska Hargitay, partner-less. But the week also brought the unsettling news that the actress will be not be appearing in all of next season’s episodes.

Regarding the departure of her costar, Hargitay – who plays Detective Olivia Benson – said in a statement released late Friday:

“For the past 12 years Chris Meloni has been my partner and friend, both on screen and off. He inspired me every day with his integrity, his extraordinary talent and his commitment to the truth. I love him deeply and will miss him terribly – I’m so excited to see what he’ll do next.”

[From People]

Aw. Has anyone else seen Mariska's E! True Hollywood Story? She and Meloni have always been tight, ever since the first time they auditioned together. They simply have great chemistry, and they make for a great on and off-screen partnership. I do think she's going to miss him quite a bit, to the point where it might not even be fun for her to work on the show anymore.

I really feel like this next season of L&O: SVU will be the last. Or SHOULD be the last. Fingers crossed.
