Watch: It’s Training Day For ‘X-Men: First Class’

Posted: 26 May 2011 05:30 PM PDT

Last week we saw a very Beast-ly clip from the upcoming prequel film X-Men: First Class … today we get to see another clip from the film that features the young X-Men training in order to learn how to master their mutant powers. Every action film needs a training montage scene … click below to see a portion of the montage from X-Men: First Class.

Love it … Love it all. I wanna see this movie, like, yesterday … but the clips we keep getting are nice snacks to tide us over until X-Men: First Class opens on June 3 :D

‘True Blood’ Season 4 Releases A New Batch Of Promo Posters

Posted: 26 May 2011 04:30 PM PDT

Yesterday we got to see a cheeky new promo poster for the upcoming 4th season of True Blood on HBO and earlier today we got to see hot photos of Ryan Kwanten filming new scenes for the show. Right now we get to see a new batch of promo posters for TB that are captioned Show Your True Colors. Check out the posters below to see which characters are color-coded which colors.

The posters are cool … but the pairings are interesting. You’ll notice that Jason Stackhouse is in the black poster with two vampires … is this a hint of things to come? What do you make of the color pairings in these posters? Is HBO cluing us in as to what to expect in the upcoming 4th season?

Watch: Lindsay Lohan, ‘Transformed’ By Richard Phillips

Posted: 26 May 2011 03:30 PM PDT

The newly sober Lindsay Lohan has, apparently, a new lease on life now that she is clean and sober and to reflect her drug/alcohol-free new life she enlisted the help of artist Richard Phillips to create a short film that will show the world just how clean and sober she truly is. The film is titled Lindsay Lohan and it runs 90 seconds long. Watch it out in full below.

Are you ready for the next art star? Even if it happens to be Lindsay Lohan? Thanks to the painter Richard Phillips, pop culture's current tragic heroine is making a cogent leap from the tabloids to the art world. The vehicle for her transformation is "Lindsay Lohan," a 90-second ad for her more sober self that Phillips directed. It debuts next week in "Commercial Break," an upstart program of artists' videos put together by Neville Wakefield for the opening festivities of the 54th Venice Biennale. With the "Lohan" video, shot last month in Malibu, Calif., by the surf-king filmmaker Taylor Steele, Phillips is also banking on a new direction. Last we looked, he was strictly a painter, albeit one with a certain fixation on the power of media gods and goddesses to distract us from the people they really are. "I've never made a film, not even on an iPhone," Phillips said (by iPhone) from an exhibition hall near Zurich, where he was hanging "Painting and Misappropriation," a show he first organized last year for the Swiss Institute in New York. "In some ways the video relates to my art, but it's also a way to think about a new kind of portraiture." In "Lindsay Lohan," the beleaguered beauty is captured mostly in close-up, and in attitudes that Phillips appropriated from two 1960s movie classics, Jean-Luc Godard's "Contempt" and Ingmar Bergman's "Persona," starring Brigitte Bardot and Liv Ullmann, respectively. The skimpily clad Lohan stands in for each, appearing anguished, introspective, seductive, sleepy, hurt, querulous, innocent and always alone. The links Phillips makes between her and the roles that Bardot and Ullmann play in the films may be subtle, but they are distinct. "What fascinates me about Lindsay are not her problems but the way she embodies an eminence on the level of a Bardot or an Ullmann," Phillips said. "She's a combination of the fantastic and the real, which is what makes her so magnetic. She can also bring forward an existential presence that speaks to the isolated self." Both "Persona" and "Contempt," he pointed out, examine those issues, and his brief psychological portrait of Lohan attempts to unite the irreconcilable differences in her divided personality.

Uh huh … this reasoning and explanation is … interesting. The film, I’m afraid, is not. I’m sorry … but I’m still not ready to take anything that Lindsay Lohan does seriously well … seriously. Especially since today is the day that she turned herself into jail to being serving her 120 day sentence for her jewelry theft conviction and she was immediately released to serve out her punishment at home for the next 45 days. Unless we see Lindsay peering out at photographers from her windows for the next month or so (which I wouldn’t put past her, to be honest), at the very least we’ll get a bit of a break from her entirely.

And there’s the silver lining …

As for this short film … what do y’all think?

Watch: A Clip Of Taylor Lautner Kickin’ Ass In ‘Abduction’ Hits The Internets

Posted: 26 May 2011 02:30 PM PDT

Back in April we got our first look at the first movie trailer for Twilight star Taylor Lautner‘s new feature film Abduction. Today, courtesy of Jimmy Kimmel Live, we get to see an almost 1-minute clip from the film that shows Lautner‘s character kickin’ some major ass on a speeding train. I have to say, the clip makes the film look exciting … wait ’til you see what Lautner can do with his muscley thighs.

Ladies and gentlemen, I think Abduction will show us the birth of a new action movie star. And, like most action movie stars, he may not be the best actor (tho, that still remains to be seen) but the boy appears to be able to do action scenes with ease. We will have to reserve final judgment until the film comes out later this year … but I like what I see thus far. Little Lautner is growing up nicely, I’d say.

Theater Review: ‘God Of Carnage’

Posted: 26 May 2011 01:30 PM PDT

After missing the show on Broadway, David and I were very excited to learn that the Tony Award-winning play God of Carnage was being performed here in LA with the original Broadway cast — Marcia Gay Harden, Hope Davis, James Gandolfini and Jeff Daniels. We waited for a performance where we could get really good tickets so that is why we waited until the show nearly ends its run to see it. The show ends performances here in LA this weekend … but we managed to get really good seats for our show. In short, we both loved God of Carnage very much … and we were very surprised at how the drama unfolded on stage ;)

I think it’s best that I not spoil the parts of the show that surprised us the most … but I will tell you that the play is very funny and not at all really dramatic. The acting was superb by all of the players and the story is simple on the surface but fairly complex underneath. I knew the basic premise of the play before seeing the show last night but I was NOT at all expecting it to turn out the way it did. There were parts of the show that were so riotously funny, I almost fell out of my chair. There was another part that almost had me running for cover (we were in the front row). God of Carnage is a fantastic play … one I heartily recommend wholeheartedly. If you get the chance to see it with the original Broadway cast, you MUST! I’m sorry I missed seeing it on Broadway but am very happy that I got to experience the same Broadway magic, with the same players, right here at home in LA.

Prince Turns The House Of Blues Into The ‘House Of Funk’

Posted: 26 May 2011 12:57 PM PDT

So … I had a very long night/morning today … and am alive and functioning to tell the tale. As I mentioned yesterday, last night David and I attended the 8pm performance of the stage play God of Carnage and then I attended a 2AM concert performance by Prince in the intimate Foundation Room at the House of Blues in West Hollywood, CA. I’ll post my review of God of Carnage shortly but the Prince show, man, what an incredible night.

As many of you are well aware by now, I’ve been seeing Prince a LOT in concert here in LA over the past few weeks including a couple of very intimate shows at The Troubadour a couple of weeks ago. Last night’s House of Blues show in the Foundation Room was truly the most intimate show possible … arm’s length … I was arm’s legnth from Prince for most of the night (except for the times when he stepped away to play bass or jam in front of his speaker). The show was a 2 1/2 hour jam session … I was literally in awe the entire time. Even in high heel shoes, Prince only came up to my nose … that is how short he is … so I am very glad that I managed to get right up in front of him to watch the show. Even 3 people back and I would not have been able to see him at all. The Foundation Room is the size of a large living room … and I am not exaggerating at all. Because there was no elevated stage, most people in the room couldn’t even see Prince at all. I’m not sure what the experience was like for those people but I know that I will never, EVER see him in a more intimate place. It was truly a night/morning to remember. I rolled home hearing the early birds chirping … it was a spectacular night.

Tonight, I’m heading out to see another concert … this time, Stevie Nicks! She is playing The Wiltern on her birthday tonight … and I am so excited. I’ve always wanted to see her live and almost saw her a few weeks ago but she was touring with Rod Stewart and there was no way in HELL I was gonna sit thru a Rod Stewart show. I’m gonna need a nap this afternoon but, yeah, I’m really lookin’ forward to Stevie!!

Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino & Ronnie Magro Make-Up After Their Reported Fight

Posted: 26 May 2011 11:34 AM PDT

On Tuesday we learned that Jersey Shore castmates Mike The Situation Sorrentino and Ronnie Magro, currently filming the 4th season of JS in Florence, Italy, got into some sort of physical altercation that resulted in bruised hands for Ronnie and a bruised face for Mike. Yesterday, we saw photos of Ronnie‘s bandaged hand … and no sign of Mike at all. Today we are hearing that the guys have “kissed and made-up” and apparently settled their differences and are BFFs again. The pair were spotted on the streets of Florence together in an apparent show of unity … which you can see for yourselves below.

Good news everyone … The Situation has found it in his heart to forgive the guy who punched him in the face … and now, we’re told Sitch and Ronnie are back to being friends again. Multiple sources close to both “Jersey Shore” stars tell us … the guys had a long talk after the altercation and “worked out their issues.” We’re told the whole fight went down in the first place after Ronnie had returned from a night of clubbing with his GF Sammi. Ronnie was pretty heated over an argument he had with Sammi … and in his rage, “turned his anger towards Mike.” Sources tell us Ronnie began to talk smack to Sitch — taking personal shots regarding Sitch’s family — and The Sitch eventually snapped. The two men fought briefly before it was “quickly broken up” — and Ronnie then blew off some steam by punching a wall and tearing up his knuckles. But it’s all water under the bridge now — the fellas talked it out and are “fine now.”

LOL! To be honest, these two don’t really look very happy or chummy … which leads me to believe that all or some of this fight drama is merely for the show. Tho, I’m not sure if the fight was genuine and the make-up is being faked or if the whole incident was faked from the beginning. I guess we’ll have to see how it all plays out when the show is edited together and aired later this year.

In other Jersey Shore: Italy news, the gang will be working at a pizza place during their time in Florence. Here are photos of Paul Pauly D DelVecchio and Deena Nicole hard at work:

Not for nuthin’ but … I kinda love the idea of the JS kids working at a pizza place in Italy.

As for the fight drama, what do y’all think? Was it real or was it Memorex?

Ryan Reynolds Does ‘Details’ Magazine

Posted: 26 May 2011 10:54 AM PDT

Ryan Reynolds, the Green Lantern star who is recently divorced from his ex-wife Scarlett Johansson, is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Details magazine. In his coverstory interview, Ryan opens up a tiny bit about his split from ScarJo in an interview that is likely to be one of the few (if only) times he will talk about this part of his personal life. Ryan pointedly tells the Details interviewer, “the media was not invited to my marriage, and they're definitely not invited into the divorce” … but he does talk generally about the end of his marriage and what it still means for him. Oh yeah, he also poses for some HOT photos for the mag. Read some interview excerpts and see some of Ryan‘s Details photos below.

Ryan Reynolds appears on the June/July cover of DETAILS magazine in a photo shoot with Matthias Vriens-McGrath that took place in Atlanta. Reynolds has risen from comedy cutup to rom-com heartthrob to megabudget action star on the back of his everyman appeal—by just being a guy. "The Hollywood asshole is becoming a bit of a dinosaur every day, thank God," says Jason Bateman—Reynold's co-star in the upcoming The Change-Up. "But it's still not the norm to be as decent as Ryan is. Decent without being a boob. He's the World's Sexiest Man and all that shit, but he's still a real guy, not a noodle." Sandra Bullock says her longtime friend and costar has a complexity beyond the friendly face that draws an audience in: "It makes you want to watch more of him to figure it out. As his friend, any dark secrets that I may or may not know are forever safe with me. Unless he doesn't do something I want him to do, like babysitting. When that day comes, I'll be sure to hold a press conference." The rest of his success she credits to his comic timing, height and Canadian-ness. "He constantly talks of the healing powers of maple syrup. I don't know if that's a Canadian trait, but it's always uncomfortable when it comes up." "I love Canada," Reynolds says when told about Bullock's view of his nationality. "It makes a nice hat for America. When America runs out of water, it's the first place I'll go. I gotta go home. I haven't been there in a long, long time."

On not settling on one genre of films: "I'm not declaring nothing, man! I'm getting away with something I'd like to continue getting away with."

Joking about his dark side: "You want to see what I'm like when we turn the tape recorder off? I slit throats, that's what I do. I only drink panda tears. Do not bring me water. Do not bring me filtered water. I want the tears of a newborn panda, and I will have them—because I'm Ryan Reynolds!"

On divorce: “Anyone who gets divorced goes through a lot of pain, but you come out of it. I’m not out of it yet. At all. But I sense that as I do come through it, there’s optimism. How can there not be? I don’t think I want to get married again, but you always reevaluate these things. Any kind of crisis can be good. It wakes you up. I gotta say, I’m a different person than I was six months ago.”

On what really happened in his divorce: “What was happening privately was the exact opposite of what was being reported. There was no story and no scandal, so the narrative was just created for me. That was the most disturbing part. I wasn’t angry. I absolutely predicted every beat of it.”

Ryan Reynolds is fiercely private about his personal life which is why I’m very surprised he opened up in the slightest to Details. He must’ve felt really comfortable with the interviewer because I really didn’t expect to hear this much information about what happened between him and Scarlett … not that we really know anything concrete but at least we know something. But, the divorce is over … Ryan is single and ready to mingle … and he is lookin’ HOT in this Details photospread. As for Ryan‘s upcoming films, I am really looking forward to Green LanternThe Change-Up, notsomuch … but it looks like it’s gonna be a great Summer of RyRey ;)

Watch: Beyoncé Performs ’1+1′ On The Season Finale Of ‘American Idol’

Posted: 26 May 2011 10:30 AM PDT

Beyoncé was one of the musical guests who performed on the season finale of American Idol last night and she used the opportunity to give a live performance of the second single off her new album 4. Bey performed the ballad 1+1 live on the show last night … and also made the song available for download purchase immediately. Click below to see the single cover artwork for her new song 1+1 and watch video of her performance on AI last night.

This single can be had immediately with pre-ordering Beyoncé‘s new album on iTunes. Wanna hear what the track sounds like when performed live? Check out this video and hear for yourselves:

As I’ve mentioned before, I really hate pop ballads … yes, even when they are sung by someone as incredibly talented as Beyoncé. But, with that said, I think she sang the HELL out of this song last night and really showed those Idol kids how a popstar truly should sound. I’m not crazy about 1+1 but my guess is that the album 4 will be made up of more upbeat songs rather than ballads like this. What do YOU think of this track? Do you dig it?

Ryan Kwanten Films ‘True Blood’ Season 4 In LA

Posted: 26 May 2011 09:12 AM PDT

The promo (both video AND print) for the upcoming 4th season of True Blood may already be underway but that doesn’t mean that filming on the series is finished. Altho the first half of the season has already been filmed, there are still a few eps left that need to be completed … which is why actor Ryan Kwanten (who plays hottie Jason Stackhouse) was spotted on the streets of SoCal this week hard at work filming new scenes for TB 4. Check out the photos below.

It looks like Ryan‘s character Jason is running away from someone … or something … and all that jostling around has caused his shirt to rise up and show his stomach. HMMM. I can’t say that I mind too much about that ;) I understand other True Blood actors have been spotted around town filming scenes of their own for the show. Very soon we will all be getting our new fix of TB … and hopefully some more fun fixes like this of the actors hard at work on the show.

Michael C. Hall Is A Parking Meter Feeder

Posted: 26 May 2011 08:00 AM PDT

When actor Michael C. Hall isn’t busy working on his Showtime series Dexter or partying with my BFF Darion on his birthday, he is going about town here in LA taking care of various errands … making sure that he remains free of parking tickets. MCH was spotted doing the mundane task of feeding his parking meter here in LA yesterday … which is no small matter. Parking tickets are outrageous here in SoCal so even celebs can’t afford to rack up any parking violations.

I am assuming that MCH is being very diligent to feed his parking meters because I bet it would be a very bad idea if a meter maid came along and slapped him with a parking ticket. Should something like that happen, that meter maid might end up at the bottom of the ocean in a few different trash bags. Yes, I think it’s best for everyone involved for MCH to pay his meters … so no one has to get hurt ;)

Beyoncé Releases The Tracklist For Her New Album ’4′

Posted: 26 May 2011 07:00 AM PDT

Last week we got our first look at the album artwork for Beyoncé‘s upcoming new album 4, due out at the end of June. Today we learn the tracklist for the 12 song album … which seems short considering how long B‘s album tracklists usually are. It is presumed that this is the tracklist for the standard edition of the album and that a longer, more expensive deluxe version of the 4 album will feature different artwork and more songs. For now, click below to see the names of the 12 tracks that will be featured on Bey‘s new album.

01. 1+1
02. I Care
03. I Miss You
04. Best Thing I Never Had
05. Party (featuring Andre 3000)
06. Rather Die Young
07. Start Over
08. Love On Top
09. Countdown
10. End Of Time
11. I Was Here
12. Run The World (Girls)

You will note that track #5 features guest vocals (as a duet?) with Andre 3000 of Outkast. Except for Run the World (Girls) and Beyoncé‘s second single 1+1 (which she performed on American Idol last night), none of these songs have been heard by the fans at large. I love Run the World so I’m curious to hear how the rest of the album sounds. With the album’s release date just weeks away, I’m sure we’ll be hearing samples of these tracks sooner rather than later ;)

Cheryl Cole Reportedly OUT As US ‘X Factor’ Judge, Nicole Scherzinger Will Replace Her

Posted: 26 May 2011 04:00 AM PDT

Earlier this month, after all casting drama had been settled, we learned finally that Simon Cowell selected original judge Cheryl Cole (from the original UK version of The X Factor) to join music mogul LA Reid and former American Idol judge Paula Abdul to help him judge the US version of The X Factor. Singer Nicole Scherzinger had been hired to co-host the show with Brit Steve Jones. TMZ is now reporting that Cheryl is OUT as X Factor judge and has been replaced on the judging panel by Nicole. According to their sources, Cheryl‘s thick British accent is the reason she has been dropped as a judge because producers feared the US audience would not be able to understand her!

Huge shakeup at Simon Cowell’s new show “X-Factor” — TMZ has learned singer Cheryl Cole will no longer be a judge … and will be replaced by ex-”Pussycat Dolls” member Nicole Scherzinger … Nicole was originally supposed to co-host the show with Steve Jones when it debuts in September — but now, she’ll be sitting on the judge’s panel alongside Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, and LA Reid.

Cheryl Cole was dropped from the judging panel on “X-Factor” largely because producers were concerned her English accent would be too difficult for an American audience to understand … There were other issues too — we’re told Cheryl and fellow judge Paula Abdul had a “lack of chemistry” … and Cheryl was more expendable. Producers now want Cheryl to return to the UK version of the show — but according to sources, Cheryl’s royally pissed over how this situation was handled … and may sever ties with “X-Factor” entirely. With Cheryl out, Steve Jones will be the only host on the show — which debuts in September — while Nicole Scherzinger fills the open seat on the judging panel. Calls to Simon Cowell still haven’t been returned.

OMG … wow! This is a HUGE shake-up! TMZ very rarely gets these sorts of stories wrong so I tend to believe this report … which is a huge bummer because I love Cheryl Cole. If it were just a matter of poor chemistry, I think I wouldn’t be surprised … but the accent thing, man, that sucks. I’ve heard Cheryl Cole speak (on X Factor UK and in various interviews) and I never found it too difficult to decipher. I’m sure we’ll be hearing more about this soon … news like this cannot stay quiet for long and an official statement will have to come shortly. But … dang … Cheryl‘s out and Nicole‘s in as X Factor judge. Crazy, right?
