MSNBC's Ed Schultz Suspended For "Slut" Remark

Posted: 26 May 2011 01:15 PM PDT

We find when you are hosting your own major cable news show, it helps to think before you speak. Perhaps that's something you'll want to keep in mind for the future, Ed!

Every day, Ed Schultz bring his own brand of political commentary to MSNBC on The Ed Show. This week, he let his opinions get the better of him when firing back at Laura Ingraham, a FOX News correspondent who criticized the President for visiting Ireland while Americans in Missouri were being killed and left homeless by the devastating tornado strike. In his tirade back to Laura, he said, ON AIR:

"President Obama is going to be visiting Joplin, Mo., on Sunday, but you know what [Republicans are] talking about, like this right-wing slut, what's her name? Laura Ingraham? Yeah, she's a talk slut. You see, she was, back in the day, praising President Reagan when he was drinking a beer overseas. But now that Obama's doing it, they're working him over."

Misogyny's not a good color on you, Ed! You should've held your tongue.

Because of his outburst, Ed has now been suspended from the network and we hear he's even prepared to take himself off the network "for an indefinite period of time with no pay." After he was shown the door, he released this statement to apologize to Laura, saying:

"I am deeply sorry, and I apologize. It was wrong, uncalled for, and I recognize the severity of what I said. I apologize to you, Laura, and ask for your forgiveness."

At least he owns up to it. Doesn't make it right by any means, but at least he's trying to show he can be a better man than the one who said those awful things. There's a lesson to be learned here:

Watch your mouth!!!

Spider-Man's On The Market! Andrew Garfield Splits With GF!

Posted: 26 May 2011 12:50 PM PDT

split-andrew-garfield-shannon-woodward.jpg

There'll be no raising Shannon Woodward's hopes today.

Andrew Garfield has split from his girl Shannon this week as he doesn't see the point in continuing their relationship while he's filming The Amazing Spider-Man. Apparently, his work schedule put a rift between them and as they became more estranged, "he literally never saw her" and that just didn't bode well for a functioning relationship.

However, Shannon apparently isn't taking the hint and is telling friends they are merely on "a break" while Andrew is telling his peeps they are donezo.

Oh, honey. Let him go. You'll find someone else…not as fast as he will, but give it time! He's a superhero now, you know!

The Wolf Pack may be back this weekend, but this fall we'll forget all about them. The Fuzzy Pack is on track to be back in what could be the funniest movie of the year!

The Muppets may have the best marketing campaign we've ever seen!

First they advertised it as an entirely different movie, but now they're ripping on The Hangover Part II! LOLz!

Love it!!!!

Check out the SECOND teaser trailer for The Muppets, hitting theaters in November, above!!!

Are U as psyched as us for the return of the Muppets to the big screen?!

Hangover Part II Made $10 Million Last Night!

Posted: 26 May 2011 12:30 PM PDT

Hangover II Huge Bucks

The Hangover Part II opened at midnight last night and some unofficial reports are coming in that it landed a pretty staggerring $9/10 million dollars for a Thursday morning release!

Which means that'll probably turn into $20 million by the end of tonight, which means it'll be on track for that $125 million dollar 5-day weekend play we talked about a bit ago:

With the first Hangover having made the weekend of June 5th, the sequel is expected to reach $80M-$85M for the 3-day weekend, and then as high as $125 million according to some rival studio estimates for the 5-day long weekend starting today. Warner Bros is projecting the 5-day estimate at $100M. And that's for a 2D feature without the higher 3D ticket prices.

That's huge!

But totally not surprising, LOLz!

Congrats to the team and everyone involved! It's primed for a huge success and we can't wait to see it ourselves!

The Wolf Pack Is Back!

Are U seeing it this weekend??

Lars Von Trier Apologizes For Nazi Comments For The 438th Time Again!

Posted: 26 May 2011 12:20 PM PDT

Last we heard from Melancholia director Lars von Trier, he had dug himself into a PRET-TY deep hole with further Nazi comments.

As a reminder, Lars made some awful Nazi/Hitler comments (above), which enraged folks at Cannes, and got him kicked out of the film festival. He attempted to apologize, but only made things worse for himself.

Now, he's giving the whole apology thing another go, and this time he's referring to his Nazi comments as "unintelligent…and needlessly hurtful."

Okay Lars, this is a step in the right direction! We like what we're hearing so far!

After being condemned for his comments, Lars had the following to say:

"In my opinion, freedom of speech, in all its shapes, is part of basic human rights. However, my comments during the festival's press conference were unintelligent, ambiguous and needlessly hurtful."

"My intended point was that the potential for extreme cruelty, or the opposite, lies within every human being, whatever nationality, ethnicity, rank or religion. If we only explain historical disasters with the cruelty of individuals we destroy the possibility of understanding the human mechanisms, which in turn are necessary in order to avoid any future crimes against humanity."

All right, Lars. As far as apologies are concerned, this is MUCH BETTER than your previous ones.

We're thinking you should quit while you're ahead. You know if you keep talking about this, the hole-digging will begin again.

What do U think about Lars' latest apology? Adequate, or at least adequate enough?

Dancing With The Stars' Finale Beats Out Idol's In The Ratings!

dancing-with-the-stars-finale-beat-american-idol-in-the-ratings

Sorry, American Idol!

Even though the reality competition's latest season finale drew in considerably more viewers than last year's with 20 million tuning in to see Scotty McCreery take home the title, the Dancing With The Stars finale beat them with an unbelievable 21 million viewers, marking the first time any show has ever beaten it on a performance night EVER!

Industry analyst Marc Berman says:

"'American Idol' is still a very widely seen show, but it doesn't stand so much above the No. 2 show ['DWTS'] anymore that it can't be beaten. The country loves dancing and the country loves 'Dancing With the Stars'. . . It's the new form of variety — it's got dancing, it's got music, it's got comedy, it has all the ingredients. People were very invested in them, and the contestant they liked the most — Kirstie Alley — made it right to the end. They [remaining Idol contestants] aren't the best that they've had, people aren't buzzing about the two of them. The common comment is that they're both country-western singers and that's diluted interest. 'Dancing With the Stars' is still fresh. 'Idol' is still strong, but there's not that much interest in the finalists and there's endless interest in 'Dancing With the Stars.' "

Wow! That's a pretty thorough breakdown!

Can't say we disagree with him!

Either way, we don't think that anyone should be ashamed of those kind of ratings!

They both KILLED IT last night!

What do U think?? Do U prefer Idol or Dancing With The Stars?

Oprah Leaves Us On A High Note And BIG Ratings!

Posted: 26 May 2011 11:40 AM PDT

It was so hard yesterday to say goodbye to Oprah Winfrey and the show that made her a household name. To her credit, the hour was one of the best episodes in the history of her show. We were moved. We were touched. We were crying so hard, we had to rewind the DVR for the final 3 minutes because our sobs drowned out the TV.

Embarrassing? Not remotely, since we know we weren't alone. According to the preliminary numbers, yesterday's farewell show was the highest-rated broadcast of Big O's show in 17 years. It posted a 13.3 household rating in the overnight metered markets and more than doubled its recent averages. That means there were millions upon millions of other people weeping shamelessly at there flat-screens just like us yesterday.

We could all use a hug! Oprah, where are you???

P.S. - In case you missed it, check out the HIGHlights of her farewell episode (above)

She really is such an inspiration to all her Little Monsters!

Don't ever change, Mother Monster! We're so proud of your success!
