EVENT FAB: Shaq & Girlfriend Nikki "Hoopz" Alexander Host All-Star Comedy Jam

Posted: 19 Feb 2011 08:20 AM PST

Shaquille O'Neal put on his Bacardi Gold VIP All Star Weekend Comedy Jam last night in L.A.  He had his girlfriend Hopz--who looked nice in white--on his arm, and his friends the Kodjoes, Christina Milian, and others hit up the party as well.

We've got pics from the cocktail reception when you read on...

Shaq is about 2 feet taller than Hoopz.  So interesting to see them together.

Cute dress though and Shaq looks nice as well.

Amber Rose was invited and rocked this multi-colored sequin dress.

Christina Milian is back to her pre-baby bangin' bod.  And she rocked a sexy sheer paneled skin tight dress to show it off.  Cute.

Boris and Nicole looked their sickeningly hot selves.

And Morris Chestnut rolled though as well.  I feel like he rummaged through his uncle's closet though...

FOOLISH ACTIVITIES: Rick Ross VLOGS His Trip To The "WEED" Shop In L.A.

Posted: 19 Feb 2011 07:41 AM PST

There's a lot to do in L.A. this weekend.  You can go hit up the NBA All-Star festivities, relax on the beach, shop at The Grove....or weed sample.  Yes...weed is "legal" (and by legal we mean a next-to-nothing fine without a license to have it) in California and during his latest video blog, Rick Ross takes us along for a trip to the weed shop.  Watch the video at the cut...

Rick Ross posted a very intimate VLOG about his stay in L.A. for the All-Star game.  We get to see him get a razor sharpe shapeup, eating street meat, and shopping for weed.  Some of those intimate details should have remained personal and private...but to each his own.  P.S.  He also unveils the MMG Skull Candy headphones.

Actress Rebecca Marshall and NBA player Baron Davis hosted the Lexus CT200h Challenge with Baron's Raising Star Of America Foundation.

Tichina Arnold was there.

And so was Jaleel White.

Hill Harper was at the event.

We even saw Terrell Owens.

Nicole Murphy, Michael Strahan and Tichina Arnold all posed for the camera at the Lexus party.

At the Hennessy party, Gloria Govan and Matt Barnes looked like a happy couple.

And Gloria brought along Suzie Ketcham from the "Basketball Wives."

Roland Martin was seen at the NBA All-Star Screening Of "On the Shoulders Of Giants - The Story of the Greatest Basketball Team You've Never Heard Of."

Also at the screening were Carmelo Anthony, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Pau Gasol.

Hey Melo!

Niecy Nash posed with Bron Bron at The LeBron James, Springhill Productions And Believe Entertainment Group Debut party for "The LeBrons."

Drake made an appearance.

Nice pic.

And Dwyane Wade participated in a Q&A session alongside "Dominate Another Day" co-star Kevin Hart.

Quinton Aaron was spotted.

And Lil' Mama struck a pose or two.

And Common is also in L.A. kicking it and looking good.

At another event, Lance Gross participated with McDonald's Men of McCafe during a trip to Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House.

Actor Hosea Chanchez also joined in the fun.

Later on Hosea and Lance posed with Los Angeles Ronald McDonald Executive Director Vincent Bryson; BET personality Alesha Renee, and former Arizona Cardinal football player Isaac Keys who all helped make the event possible.

And over at the JW Marriott,

Magic Johnson, Cookie Johnson, Tracy Wilson Mourning and Alonzo Mourning posed at "Zo and Magic's 8-Ball Challenge", a pool tournament benefitting The Alonzo Mourning Charities and The Magic Johnson Foundation.

Holly Robinson Peete was there.

And Tichina Arnold stopped by too.

It was good to see a glimpse of Arsenio Hall.  He doesn't come out too often.

Monica's husband, Shannon Brown was there.

Terrell Owens attended.

Dr. J. was in the house.

Looks like everyone had a good time.

Dog Owners Claim Responsibility For Michael Vick's Cancelled Oprah Interview + Rashidah Ali Speaks Out About $10 Milli Lawsuit (VIDEO)

Posted: 18 Feb 2011 01:51 PM PST

Several dog owners are claiming responsibility for Michael Vick's sudden cancellation of his Oprah interview.  Get the deets inside plus watch video of Rashidah Ali responding to the $10 million assault case filed against her.

Michael Vick, who served 21 months in prison for dogfighting, recently pulled out of an Oprah interview after dog owners contacted producers for "Oprah" asking for the chance to confront him on the show.

According to the NY Post:

"One of the adopters was contacted by one of Oprah's producers Tuesday night, who said there was 'preliminary interest' in doing something with the dogs," says Richard Hunter, a Dallas radio personality who adopted one of Vick's dogs and is one of his most vocal critics.

"Then, that same night, Vick's rep told Oprah's producers he was backing out [of the interview].

"It would certainly be a coincidence if one didn't have something to do with the other."

Paul, (a dogowner who wouldn't reveal his last name), said:

"I sent out a blanket e-mail to about 20 people at Oprah's production company and heard back the next day that they would take my inquiry into consideration," he says.

"I don't like to talk about Vick a lot, but I like to focus on the dogs -- and I thought this would be a good opportunity to see how the dogs are doing.

"They still have a lot of issues to overcome, but until people see that, they really don't get it."

In response to these stories, a Harpo spokesman said this:

"Yes, they reached out to us and we spoke with them and several other groups," he said.

"We were still in the planning stages for the show, so I can't confirm if they would have been part of the final episode."

I'm not too sure what type of redemption the dogowners are seeking from Michael, but since his release from prison, Michael has been part of a Humane Society program that warns young men against dogfighting.

In legal news,

Rashidah Ali has posted a video of an interview where she denies any involvement in a Greenhouse club brawl that sent a NYC club bouncer to the hospital.  Although Rashidah does not deny that a brawl happened that night, she says she wasn't involved.  "There is no blood on my shoes."

She goes on to clear up stories about her finances and the status of her business.

"Best Man" Director Malcolm Lee Has Words For Tyler Perry...

Posted: 18 Feb 2011 11:48 AM PST

Director beef!  Just like his outspoken cousin, Spike, Director of Best Man, Malcolm Lee, has some unabashed words for fellow director Tyler Perry.

Read on for what the latest critic has to say about Mr. Perry's work and how unimpressed they are with it...

After the big 12 year reunion partywith the cast and director of the Best Man hit the net recently, sequel talks spurred and director Malcolm Lee has been pretty chatty with the media.

So at Broadway Night Out’s “The Filmmakers View” in Manhattan this week, BET's Clay Cane caught up with Mr. Lee.  And, of course, Malcolm was asked how he felt about the Tyler Perry "Madea" effect on the box office and him building an empire?  His answer:

“Tyler Perry is a very shrewd businessman. This dude has built an empire off of what he does and people support him.” He continued: “I have to admit, I enjoy some Madea. Madea’s funny to me. All the other stuff and the morality tales, I could do without. Just bring me more Madea!”

When talking about the merit of Perry’s work, just like his famous cousin, Lee didn’t hold back. “It’s not as terrible as people say it is, but it’s not as good as the box office numbers are. Just because something makes money doesn’t mean it’s good, it’s just popular, it taps into something people respond to. I don’t do what he does.” He continued: “He’s not interested in art, he’s interested in turning out a product. There is value in that, building up a studio and being independent. I wish he would get better as the movies go on. Maybe he will, I don’t know, but I don’t think that is his focus right now.”

I say they jello-fight it out and get it over with....

Nelly Reveals Details About Ashanti In VH1's "Behind The Music"

Posted: 18 Feb 2011 10:50 AM PST

Hip-Hop all-star Nelly will be featured in an episode of VH1's Emmy-nominated series "Behind The Music. And he's finally speaking about his relationship with Ashanti.  Deets inside...

An upcoming episode of Behind The Music will focus on the Saint Louis, Missouri rapper's  "...upbringing, his rise to fame, the trials and tribulations of running his various businesses, his acting career, the decline of record sales and more."

On the show, Nelly opens up for the first time about his relationship with Ashanti and the death of his sister Jackie, who passed away from Leukemia after a nationwide donor drive.

To advertise the show, VH1 released this statement:

"Growing up in St. Louis, MO, Nelly spent most of his childhood bouncing from home to home, sleeping on couches and changing schools with alarming regularity. The lack of parental supervision quickly led him to a life of crime. Years later, he joined a rap group called the St. Lunatics and finally found the family he'd been lacking. However, his loyalty to that family was tested when record labels came calling, saying, "We want you-not them." With his group's blessing, Nelly signed to Universal Records and released Country Grammar. The album sold nearly 10 million copies and forever changed the face of hip-hop. Since then, life has hardly been easy for Nelly. From a decline in album sales and controversial music videos to his best friend's incarceration and his sister's tragic death from leukemia, Nelly has battled plenty of demons."

And with his sixth studio album, 5.0, in stores now, Nelly really opens up about his journey from St. Louis to rap superstardom on the episode slated to premiere Monday, March 7th at 10:00 PM EST.
