'30 Rock' Takes On 'The Real Housewives'

Posted: 20 Mar 2011 08:55 AM PDT

The hit show 30 Rock is about the people who make a TV show, and there’s nothing they love more than loading up the show with references to other TV shows (MILF Island, anyone?). One of the storylines this season is about Tracy Jordan (Tracy Morgan)’s wife Angie (Sherri Shepherd) getting her own Real Housewives-esque reality show called Queen of Jordan. While my friend Andy Dehnart over at Reality Blurred doesn’t think Queen of Jordan hits the mark in its Real Housewives mockery, I think that’s because Queen of Jordan also borrows heavily from other reality shows. This is a show centered solely around Angie and her friends/employees instead of an ensemble show. Despite the table-flipping and other Housewives shoutouts, Angie’s show reminds me more of Kimora: My Life in the Fab Lane, Gene Simmons’ Family Jewels, or any other show that’s centered around one person or family and their hangers-on. Anyway, you can check out the episode below and see if you agree.

'30 Rock' Takes On 'The Real Housewives'

Another 'Real Housewives' Husband is in Hot Water

Posted: 19 Mar 2011 02:27 PM PDT

We have another husband to add to the list of “‘Real Housewives’ Husbands Who Have Been in Real Trouble with the Law.”

According to the New York Post (would you believe that I came up with the title of this post and not them), Albert Manzo, husband of Real Housewives of New Jersey‘s Caroline Manzo, has been suspended from a water commission. New Jersey Governor Chris Christie also demanded a resignation from Albert, saying that he “misled officials about his ‘real’ residence. The New York Post says that Albert claimed to have lived at the Brownstone restaurant and party venue (which we know all too well from Real Housewives of New Jersey) in Paterson, New Jersey. However, his actual house is in Franklin Lakes (uh duh).  Albert is still saying that he lives at the Brownstone and will not resign. This is just another incident to add to the mounting mafia rumors surrounding the Manzos. (Albert’s father, Tiny Manzo, was murdered in the 1980s – his death was rumoredly related to the mob, though the family disputes the mafia connection.)

If only Chris Christie had asked his wife. Everyone knows that the Manzos live in, and rule, Franklin Lakes. All he had to do was watch one episode of the Real Housewives of New Jersey. Something tells me a certain former New Jersey governor wouldn’t have made this mistake.

Video: Rebecca Black Goes Acoustic

During her first-ever interview, Internet phenomenon Rebecca Black let her intentions to record an acoustic version of “Friday” to “showcase her vocal range in a non-Auto-Tune environment.” Well, the wait is over: Witness Rebecca Black in living-room-mode as she sings “Friday” unaided by Auto- Tune. Improvement over the original? Or, um… not? You decide!
