The Sequel To ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ Is Already Being Written

Filming production hasn’t even been completed yet for The Amazing Spider-Man, due out in theaters in the Summer of 2012, but work is already underway on the film’s sequel. Screenwriter James Vanderbilt has reportedly been hired to begin writing the follow-up to the new Spider-Man movie … even tho the first new movie isn’t even finished yet. It sounds like the studio is really anxious to churn out the Spider-Man movies, eh?

“The Amazing Spider-Man” has not finished shooting yet, but Columbia Pictures has begun working on the sequel. The Hollywood Reporter reports the studio has hired James Vanderbilt to write the script for the upcoming installment of the web-slinger after the studio execs gave a thumbs up for his take. Vanderbilt has written for “The Amazing Spider-Man” which is currently in production under the direction of Marc Webb. He was previously tapped to work on “Spider-Man 4″ when Sam Raimi was still expected to continue the series for Columbia with Tobey Maguire as the superhero depicter, before the project collapsed. The “Spider-Man” reboot has Andrew Garfield playing Peter Parker aka Spider-Man, with Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans and Irrfan Khan rounding up the cast. The movie will head into theaters across the U.S. on July 3, 2012.

I guess we really shouldn’t be too surprised by this news. The Twilight Saga films were released on a pretty adventurous schedule with a new film coming out every year. Perhaps that same schedule is envisioned for this new Spider-Man film franchise? Even tho we still have over a year to wait before we get to see The Amazing Spider-Man, at least we know that we prolly won’t have long to wait after that film is released before we get to see the next film. I’m not sure if this rush to put out Spider-Man films is a good idea or not but … the movies are a’comin’.

Kristen Bell & Dax Shepard Are NOT Married

Earlier this week Kristen Bell posted a message on her official Twitter profile that referred to her fiancée Dax Shepard as her “husband”, sparking chatter that the couple may have secretly gotten married. But a rep for the couple has clarified that Kristen and Dax did NOT get married … at least not yet.

Actress Kristen Bell’s representative has dismissed reports the “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” star and longtime fiance Dax Shepard have secretly wed. Bell sparked rumors suggesting she and Shepard had tied the knot after posting a photo and suggestive caption on her Twitter.com. page on Wednesday, March 23. In the post she wrote, “My adorable husband, @daxshepard1 voting 4 his favorite american idol. Over and over again.” But a rep for Bell has played down the wedding stories, insisting the actress often refers to Shepard as her husband. Shepard proposed to the actress at the end of 2009, after two years of dating. Bell ended a five-year relationship with former fiance Kevin Mann in 2007 and went on to date actor Shepard before finally engaged in 2009.

Kristen herself clarified that she referred to Dax as her “husband” merely as a term of affection. She tweeted:

I kinda can’t believe it myself. sometimes i call him papa- so next time I’m sure it will be “Breaking News: Dax is Kristens DAD”

LOL! I had a feeling the “husband” comment didn’t really mean anything … it’s not uncommon for couples to refer to one another as hubby or wifey even tho they are not technically married. Now that we know for a fact that BellDax are not married, I think we can all sleep soundly. Still … the couple have been engaged for a couple of years now. I suspect that if they do plan on gettin’ hitched, they’ll do so pretty soon. I guess we’ll have to keep our eyes on Kristen‘s Twitter account for the late breaking relationship news.

Buckingham Palace Begins Preparations For The Royal Wedding

With just under month to go until the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton preparations are already underway around Buckingham Palace in London, England for the big day. Scaffolding and public seating areas have started going up around the palace in preparation for next month’s big wedding. Additionally, the Royal Family has released for sale to the public the official china memorabilia for the wedding. The countdown is on for the big day.


We got our first look at the official wedding china back in December and now the pieces are available for purchase by we common folk:


This set of china is among the rare official items available for sale. I can’t even believe we are now under a month away from the big day. I fully expect that we will see a lot more wedding prep in the coming weeks. It won’t be long now. The wedding of the new century is nearly upon us.

Did Eva Longoria Remove Her Tony Parker-Related Tattoo?

It would appear that Eva Longoria wants to erase every memory she has of her marriage to ex-husband Tony Parker … including the one she had inked into her skin. Just last week we saw photos of Eva Longoria celebrating her birthday in Las Vegas an in those photos she was still sportin’ a wrist tattoo of her wedding date with Tony. Last night, Eva was spotted here in SoCal with that tattoo curiously missing from her wrist.

They used to say a tattoo was forever. But thanks to modern technology, those etchings and messages intended to represent everlasting love can now be removed as easily as hearts can be broken. Eva Longoria appears to know a little something of the subject – the actress stepped out for dinner in Los Angeles last night with her famous wedding date tattoo noticeably absent from her wrist. It is currently unclear whether Eva, who turned 36 last week, has gone through with laser treatment to have the Roman numerals VII VII MMVII permanently removed, or if she is just testing the waters with some clever make-up. The Desperate Housewives star stepped out to dine at her restaurant Beso with friends in a shimmering grey Heartloom dress. Where her tattoo – the date 07/07/07 used to be, her wrist appeared ink-free and bare. Tattoo removal rarely sees immediate results, with most patients undergoing several treatments with the ink fading over time. And just last week, the tattoo was visible while Eva toasted her birthday at Eve nightclub in Las Vegas – leaving a question mark over if this is a permanent removal or temporary fix.

See folks, this is why you should NEVER get a tattoo of a name or anything relationship-related. Not only is getting such a tattoo the kiss of death for the relationship but it also means a very painful future of tattoo removal treatments. It would make sense if Eva did get the tattoo lasered off … after all, why would she want to be reminded of the wedding date of her failed marriage? I guess we’ll have to wait and see if the tattoo is really gone for good.

Will Britney Spears Co-Headline Her Upcoming Concert Tour?

Earlier this month we learned from our dear Britney Spears herself that she is planning to go on tour this Summer in support of her new album Femme Fatale which hits stores on Tuesday. Today we are hearing a new rumor that claims that Britney will co-headline her tour with another big name act. But, until that rumor is confirmed we can content ourselves with a more immediate live performance by Britney. Last night, Brit and her crew were spotted at LAX Airport making her way to Las Vegas where she will reportedly perform tonight.

Britney Spears has been causing near heart attacks for weeks as fans in the Bay Area tried to figure out exact details about her Good Morning America performance in the Castro. Between yesterday's sudden venue change and this morning's ticket frenzy, the highly anticipated show has proved frustrating for many fans. If you weren't able to get your hands on tickets for this Sunday's GMA show, we've got some good news. Sources are telling us that Spears has scheduled additional tour dates! Sources say that Britney has already scheduled tour dates in support of her album Femme Fatale. The exact dates have not been released, but according to a recent radio interview, Spears confirmed the tour is set to kickoff in early summer. All the info is expected to be announced very soon. We'll have the details for you first, as soon as it is released.

I’m not sure I believe this rumor about a co-headlining tour but … I wouldn’t be all that surprised if it turns out to be true. A co-headlining tour with another big act would surely sell tickets but if I had my way, I wouldn’t want Britney to share the spotlight with anyone else. She is more than capable of touring on her own. That being said, if Britney teamed up with someone like Kylie Minogue, well, I think I’d be ok with that ;) What do y’all think of this co-headlining tour rumor? A Toast To Dame Elizabeth

Last night David and I braved the rain so that we could grab a drink in West Hollywood so that we could get some fresh air out of the house. We talked about going to a movie but couldn’t decide on what to see so we decided to just go bar hopping instead. We made a pilgrimage to The Abbey in West Hollywood so that we could visit the memorial set up for the late Elizabeth Taylor and drink a toast in her honor.


The Abbey was one of Taylor‘s favorite nightspots in LA and she would frequently show up at the bar to visit with her throngs of gay fans. The portrait of her pictured above has been on display at The Abbey for years … and it has now become a memorial in her honor. The New York Times even published a piece on the Abbey‘s memorial to Elizabeth Taylor … it’s a great read. It’s still very sad to know that Dame Elizabeth is no longer with us but her memory will live on forever.

Our friends Michael and Sam joined us for a drink last night and we had a great time hanging out. Tonight, David and I will be going to the Music Box to see Oh Land and OMD in concert. This will be my 3rd Oh Land concert in two months and my first time seeing OMD live in concert. The weekend is here, y’all!! I hope you have a great one!!

Aretha Franklin Cheers On The NY Knicks

Last December we were fearing for the life of Aretha Franklin was it was reported that she had undergone a mysterious surgery. At the time, there were rumors that she was dying from some form of cancer. In January, we were assured that Aretha did NOT have cancer but no details were given about the reason for her surgery. During the 2011 Grammy Awards, Aretha appeared in public and it was clear that she had lost a lot of weight. Last night, she showed up courtside at the NY Knicks basketball game still lookin’ thinner and, well, much better.


IMHO, it looks like Aretha underwent gastric bypass surgery or some other procedure to help her lose weight. I have to say … she looks better than she has in years. Aretha put on a lot of dangerous weight and I’m sure her doctors were concerned for her health as a result. I don’t know what she did to lose all the weight but I hope she keeps it off, for her own good. While I’d much rather seen photos of Aretha Franklin, the Motown Queen of Soul, cheering on the Detroit Pistons, it is really fab seeing her look so well.

Madonna’s Plans To Build A School In Malawi Crash And Burn

In October of 2009, Madonna made her way to Malawi to break ground on the site where the Raising Malawi Academy for Girls was meant to be built. She returned to the site in April of last year to ceremonially lay the foundation of the school, which was meant to open this year. Today we learn that the Academy will NOT open this year because the board of directors for Raising Malawi has been ousted due to financial mismanagement.

A high-profile charitable foundation set up to build a school for impoverished girls in Malawi, founded by the singer Madonna and fellow devotees of a prominent Jewish mysticism movement, has collapsed after spending $3.8 million on a project that never came to fruition. The board of directors of the organization, Raising Malawi, has been ousted and replaced by a caretaker board, including Madonna and her manager, officials with the organization said Thursday. Its executive director, who is the boyfriend of Madonna's former trainer, Tracy Anderson, left in October amid criticism of his management style and cost overruns for the school. These included what auditors described as outlandish expenditures on salaries, cars, office space and a golf course membership, free housing and a car and driver for the school's director. Most strikingly, the plans to build a $15 million school for about 400 girls in the poor southeastern African country of 15 million — which had drawn financial support from Hollywood and society circles, as well as the Los Angeles-based Kabbalah Centre International, an organization devoted to Jewish mysticism — have been officially abandoned. That prospective move set off a fierce backlash when first raised earlier this year, with Malawi officials saying they were stunned and asserting that Madonna was blaming management breakdowns because she had been unable to raise the money she had promised. "A thoughtful decision has been made to discontinue plans for the Raising Malawi Academy for Girls, as it was originally conceived," Michael Berg, a co-director of the Kabbalah Centre and the co-founder of Raising Malawi, said Thursday in an e-mail to the center's members who had contributed to the project. The e-mail announced the replacement of the board of directors. Madonna has lent her name, reputation and $11 million of her money to the organization that she founded with Mr. Berg. She has been a regular visitor to Malawi, attending at least two ceremonies at what would have been the site of the school in Lilongwe, and has adopted two children from the country. On Thursday, in conceding the shortcomings of her charity, Madonna issued a statement saying she was still intent on using the organization, which has raised $18 million so far, to advance improvements in the beleaguered nation. "There's a real education crisis in Malawi," she said. "Sixty-seven percent of girls don't go to secondary school, and this is simply unacceptable. Our team is going to work hard to address this in every way we can." She and her aides offered no explanation of why, given her high interest in the project, she had not noticed the problems as they began unfolding … Raising Malawi will not disband and will instead use its money in different ways to help the poor in a country where Madonna has sought to become a major philanthropic presence, foundation officials said.

This is really sad news. It is unthinkable that people can be so cruel as to pilfer money from a charitable organization like this just for their own financial gain. I was really rooting for Raising Malawi to successfully build their school. In the end, the only people to really suffer are those who would’ve benefited from the education that would’ve been made available to them … the young girls of Malawi have been robbed of that opportunity. As disillusioning as it may be, I’m glad to know that Raising Malawi will not abandon their philanthropic endeavors in the region altogether. Still … this is very sad news.

A Final Farewell To Elizabeth Taylor

The late Elizabeth Taylor, a legend to the very end, was laid to rest yesterday just one day after she passed away at the age of 79. Per instructions left by Taylor herself, her body did not arrive at yesterday’s funeral services until 15 minutes after the start time … so that she could be fashionably late to her own funeral. How fabulous is she?

She was a Hollywood original to the end. Elizabeth Taylor was laid to rest Thursday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, Calif., in a small, private funeral attended by friends and family that began 15 minutes after schedule – under instructions she left. “She even wanted to be late for her own funeral,” a family rep said in a statement. Taylor’s casket was closed and draped with gardenias, violets, and lily of the valley. She was interred in The Great Mausoleum, the same resting place for her longtime friend Michael Jackson. The one-hour, multi-denominational service officiated by Rabbi Jerry Cutler included a reading by actor Colin Farrell, a friend of Taylor’s, of Gerard Manley Hopkins’s poem “The Leaden Echo and the Golden Echo.” Taylor’s son Michael Wilding, her daughter Liza and her grandson Tarquin Wilding also read selections, and her grandson Rhys Tivey performed a trumpet solo of “Amazing Grace.” The acting legend died Wednesday at the age of 79.

There will never be another star like Elizabeth Taylor. The woman was a queen to the very end. It’s insane to me how quickly we lost her … and now she has been laid to rest. Heaven is very lucky to have her … and we surely will miss her dearly. Rest well, Dame Elizabeth. We will love and miss you always.

Reese Witherspoon & Robert Pattinson Do ‘Entertainment Weekly’ Magazine

Reese Witherspoon, who will become Mrs. Jim Toth tomorrow, and her Water for Elephants co-star Robert Pattinson are featured on the cover of this week’s issue of Entertainment Weekly magazine. The pair are profiled in the mag to promote their new film, due out next month, but also to highlight R. Pattz‘s life outside of The Twilight Saga franchise of films. Check out the cover and a preview of the magazine below.

Twilight-fans, take heart: Robert Pattinson is every bit as good-looking and thick-maned as he appears onscreen. But don't confuse him with his brooding characters — the 24-year-old actor is surprisingly open, chatty, and quick to laugh. Pattinson talked with EW last week about his upcoming film Water for Elephants (in theaters April 22), in which he plays a traveling-circus veterinarian who falls for the show's star attraction, played by Reese Witherspoon. He also discussed what his future might look like once he's finished with Twilight. "You can never really predict what an audience wants or how to maintain a career," he says, "other than doing what you think is cool." But, Pattinson laughs, "Generally, what I think is cool is what everyone else hates." Filming for the final two installments of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn will wrap next month, and there's one thing Pattinson says he won't miss — the contact lenses he's had to wear to play Edward. "My God, I'll be glad to see the last of those," he says. "I actually want to get some kind of plastic explosive. I want to reanimate them into something so I can kill them. It's so embarrassing for me — after so many years, it's still a process every single morning. Everybody else has figured out how to do it, and then there's two people holding me down because I can't do it myself."

Water for Elephants is getting a lot of promo so I’m sure the film will do well. I know there is much interest in Robert Pattinson outside the world of Twilight. Will he sink or swim after he hangs up his broody Edward Cullen character? I think Water for Elephants will be a good first test of his staying power in Hollywood. I’m quite interested in seeing Rob‘s on-screen chemistry with Reese so … yeah, this all sounds like a great place for Rob to be in right now. This issue of EW is on newsstands now.

Lindsay Lohan Is Reportedly Changing Her Name

Troubled starlet Lindsay Lohan is reportedly taking a page from the Cher and Madonna playbook and is considering changing her name … to just Lindsay. According to new statements attributed to Lindsay‘s mother Dina Lohan, L. Lo is planning to drop her last name and go only by her first name. Additionally, Dina reveals that she and her other daughter Aliana Ali Lohan will also be changing their names … they are, apparently, changing their last names from Lohan to Dina‘s maiden name Sullivan.

Lindsay Lohan has decided to officially drop her surname, according to her mother Dina. The Machete star reportedly came to the decision to simply be known by her first name after seeing an E-Trade advert which featured a ‘milkaholic’ baby called Lindsay. The actress and E-Trade would later engage in a lawsuit over the commercial, which was eventually settled last fall. Pop Eater now quotes the actress’s mother as saying that she and her two daughters all plan to abandon the Lohan surname. “Lindsay is dropping the Lohan and just going by Lindsay,” Dina claimed. “Plus, me and [17-year-old daughter] Ali will be officially changing our last names back to my maiden name, Sullivan.” A family friend also told the website that a desire to distance herself from father Michael was another factor in Lindsay’s decision to make the change. Earlier this week, it was reported that Michael has been charged with misdemeanour domestic violence following an alleged altercation with his ex-girlfriend Kate Major.

As you may recall, we learned last month that Lindsay‘s brother Michael Lohan, Jr. is planning to change his name legally so that he will not be confused/associated with his trainwreck of a father Michael Lohan. It sounds like the entire Lohan family (well, except for daddy Michael) is planning to de-Lohan themselves … and I can’t say that I blame a single one of them. This name change will not, IMHO, do a thing to clean up Lindsay‘s image — she’s already done a fine job of mucking up her name — but for the rest of the Lohans, yeah, I can see how getting rid of that name will do wonders for them. I know I wouldn’t want to be known as a Lohan so … I can totally sympathize. What do y’all think of Lindsay Lohan‘s plan to be known simply as Lindsay?

Justin Bruening Is Cast As Steve Trevor On ‘Wonder Woman’

Former Knight Rider star, Abercrombie & Fitch model and soap opera stud Justin Bruening has been cast as Steve Trevor opposite Adrianne Palicki‘s Diana Prince / Wonder Woman in the upcoming new version of Wonder Woman. As you may know, Bruening was the lead in the short-lived NBC remake of Knight Rider a couple of years ago but, apparently, the network wants to give the guy another shot as Diana Prince‘s love interest in their new WW series.

Former Knight Rider star Justin Bruening has joined another reboot for NBC, the network’s pilot Wonder Woman. The David E. Kelley-penned project stars Adrienne Palicki as Wonder Woman/Diana Prince, a successful corporate executive working to balance the elements of her complicated life. Innovative-repped Bruening will play Steve Trevor, a leading man Diana can’t look past, an army vet who now works in the Justice department.

Altho I watched one or two episodes of the Knight Rider remake when it was on the air, I don’t really know much about Bruening as an actor. I guess he’s good looking enough to play love interest to Diana Prince but … he seems a bit young to me. Yes, I know that this new version of WW is skewing younger but Steve Trevor has to be handsome and alluring enough to lure Diana away from Paradise Island in order to defend the rest of the world from evil. Is this the man that I would envision could have that kind of impact on Wonder Woman? I’m not sure. As I’ve said many times before, I’m worried about this new version of Wonder Woman. We’ll just have to see how the whole thing turns out to make an adequate determination of the show’s value.

Great news, Britney Spears fans … in addition to making an appearance in Las Vegas, NV tonight, a live performance in San Francisco, CA Sunday and a guest appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show next Monday, our dear Britney has booked an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live next Tuesday night … the very day that her new album Femme Fatale is released in stores.
