‘The Voice’ Releases A First Promo Video

Posted: 21 Mar 2011 06:28 PM PDT

Last week we got to see photos from a press event for the new NBC competitive singing show The Voice and today we get to see the FIRST promo video for the show. Each of The Voice judges is featured in the clip along with a description of what we can expect from the show. Check out the video below.

While I can appreciate the focus on the voice of the contestants rather than the way they look, I can’t help but feel the “blind audition” feels more like a gimmick rather than a genuine attempt at judging talent. I guess we’ll have to see how this kind of singing competition works out in the long run but … well, at least it’s different. What do y’all think of The Voice now after seeing this promo video? Are you intrigued?

Peter Jackson Surfaces On The Set Of ‘The Hobbit’

Posted: 21 Mar 2011 04:16 PM PDT

Last month we saw a few photos from the New Zealand set of the upcoming prequel film The Hobbit, directed by Peter Jackson … and today we get to see a couple of new promo photos from the set this time featuring director Peter Jackson. As you may know, filming production on the much-anticipated film is finally underway … and these photos of Jackson on set show that he is large and in charge.

There and Back Again… Peter Jackson’s Tale! Oh is it great to see Jackson back in Middle Earth again. With filming on the epic two-part adaptation of The Hobbit underway down in New Zealand, two new photos of Jackson himself on The Hobbit set, specifically inside of Bilbo’s house in Hobbiton, have been revealed on his Facebook (via SlashFilm). Combined with that “first photo” of the cast not in costume, these are the only photos we’ve seen and while they are just “behind-the-scenes”, they’re still so great to see! Warner Bros has also announced the start of production and an official blog has also launched.

If you would like to follow along with production of The Hobbit, you can do so HERE on the film’s official blog. I know there are a great many Tolkien fans who have been waiting years for a film version of The Hobbit to accompany the Lord of the Rings trilogy films. Production is underway … soon enough, The Hobbit will come to life on the big screen!

Watch: ‘True Blood’ Releases A Season 4 Preview Video Featuring Jason Stackhouse

Posted: 21 Mar 2011 03:20 PM PDT

Earlier this month we got to see a preview promo video for the upcoming 4th season of True Blood that featured the vampire character Eric Northman (played by Alexander Skarsgård) and today we get to see a new promo video for TB that features the character Jason Stackhouse (played by Ryan Kwanten). It would appear from the look of this new video that poor Jason has gotten himself into a lick of trubs. Check out the video below.

Uh oh! Is Jason about to become a … shapeshifter?

Because I have no read the books, I do not know where the plotline for the TV series is headed. I can’t wait to see more. Very soon, we’ll be enjoying new eps of True Blood very soon. Excited?

Watch: ‘Glee’s Chord Overstreet Flashes His Tushie For Ellen DeGeneres

Posted: 21 Mar 2011 02:20 PM PDT

Glee star Chord Overstreet paid a visit to The Ellen DeGeneres Show today to chat with Ellen a bit about his show and whatnot and got inspired mid-interview to take off his pants to show off his underwear. Chord wore Ellen underwear under his jeans and decided to show off what his butt looks like in that underwear. Check out the video below.

The interview is very cute … until he gets to the part about how Elton John commented to Chord on his tiny gold shorts/underwear from the Rocky Horror Picture Show episode of Glee. I mean, yes, a lot of people (I’m sure) are fond of Chord‘s tiny undies … but to hear about Elton‘s love of the gold pants is … kinda creeps. Check out Chord‘s interview (and underwear flash) below:

Aww … this is a cute interview. I love the story about Chord‘s name … but, yeah, I think the underwear flash is the highlight:

Not a bad tight end, eh?

A New Report Claims Wyclef Jean Was NOT Shot In The Hand

Posted: 21 Mar 2011 01:13 PM PDT

Yesterday it was reported that Wyclef Jean was shot in the hand in Haiti on the eve of yesterday’s presidential election (which was confirmed by Wyclef‘s brother) but today we are hearing that Wyclef wasn’t shot at all. According to a police chief in Haiti, Wyclef‘s hand injury was due to a piece of broken glass … not a gunshot. Could it be that Wyclef‘s camp decided to circulate the shooting claim as a way of gaining sympathy for the presidential candidate he is supporting in the election?

Rapper Wyclef Jean claimed to have been shot in the hand on Saturday night while campaigning in Haiti on behalf of a presidential candidate. Local police, however, say Jean was only cut by glass. ‘We met with the doctor who saw him and he confirmed Wyclef was cut by glass," said the police chief of the town where Jean is staying." Asked about the conflicting reports, Jean said, "This is Haiti; it’s a city of rumors."

Ugh … if this is truly just a matter of trying to gain sympathy, then I am truly disgusted. The whole “shot in the hand” thing sounded awfully fishy to me but I really had no reason to disbelieve the claim, especially since Wyclef‘s own brother confirmed the news. It remains to be seen if this police chief is right about the broken glass but … ugh, I can’t even deal with this kind of bullshizz. I guess we’ll have to wait and see what Wyclef says about his injury. I really hope he isn’t lying about anything. It would be just too disgusting to think he would lie about something like this to win sympathy in an election.

‘Detroit’ Love

Posted: 21 Mar 2011 12:25 PM PDT

Despite plans to the contrary, David and I ended up staying inside and out of the cold rain yesterday … which means there was a lot of napping going on around here ;) Altho we talked a bit about going to the movies, that plan didn’t actually happen. I did get to watch some great TV last night … including the season finale of one of my favorite new TV shows Detroit 1-8-7.

Detroit Free Press staff writer B.J. Hammerstein contacted me while I was still in Berlin about a story he was doing on the season finale of Detroit 1-8-7 and yesterday published his article on the show:

Taylor-made Trent Vanegas is a proud metro Detroiter. He attended Wayne State University before graduating from the University of Oklahoma and launching Pink Is the New Blog, a pop culture and gossip Web site. He and his Web site relocated to Los Angeles in 2006. Vanegas says he misses the Motown things people who live here take for granted. Scenes featuring coney dogs and quick flashes of the Renaissance Center and the Joe Louis fist are among the visuals he looked forward to seeing each week on “Detroit 1-8-7.”

You can read the rest of the article HERE, it’s deffo worth your time ;) The article was published in time for the show’s season finale … and while it’s not lookin’ good for a second season of Detroit 1-8-7, I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed for the show’s survival. Last night’s finale ep was really freakin’ good … a lot of the loose ends got tied up and there was lots of resolution … with a few things left open should the show return next season. Detroit 1-8-7 was a show that I loved from the start and really looked forward to seeing each week. I may physically be in LA but each week, Detroit 1-8-7 takes me back home to Detroit … how could I not love a show like that?

Tonight, David and I will be heading out to the Hollywood Palladium to see Girl Talk in concert. It should be fun. I hope your Mondays are going well. And the countdown for a new weekend is already upon us.

‘Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides’ Releases A 2nd Movie Trailer

Posted: 21 Mar 2011 10:45 AM PDT

Back in December we got to check out the very first movie trailer for the upcoming sequel film Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and today we get to check out the just-released second trailer for the film. As you may know, Captain Jack Sparrow and his cohorts are in search of the Fountain of Youth in this film and they discover that the key to finding the fountain is to first find a mermaid. Check out the trailer below to see what sort of adventure/danger comes with the search for the Fountain of Youth.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen mermaids look so … vicious. I like it! As I’ve said all along, I enjoy the Pirates of the Caribbean films too much not to be excited about a new film. This one looks really fun, I cannot wait for On Stranger Tides to hit theaters this May 20.

Wilmer Valderrama Is A Guy With iPhone

Posted: 21 Mar 2011 10:33 AM PDT

A shirtless (and sweaty) self-portrait of actor Wilmer Valderrama has made its way to the NSFW site Guys With iPhones and normally that wouldn’t be all that interesting except for the fact that … um … Wilmer looks hot! I know, I know … nothing about that sentence makes sense but … well … I guess you’ll have to see the photo and judge for yourselves.

Um … yeah. Hot, right? Trust me, I have never ever once thought that Wilmer was even remotely hot (cute, maybe but never HOT) but he deffo looks hot in this photo. HMMM … who knew? What do y’all think of this shirtless photo of Willy V? Are you impressed? Would you hit it?

Lindsay Lohan Bowls For Attention

Posted: 21 Mar 2011 10:25 AM PDT

Lindsay Lohan, who likes to complain about the paparazzi from time to time, invited a photog into the Bowlmor Lanes in NYC, NY this weekend to take staged photos of L. Lo and her siblings as they bowled. As you may recall, Lindsay made her way to NYC to get away from the drama here in LA and is, apparently, courting attention in the Big Apple in any way she can.

Lindsay Lohan went bowling in New York Friday, and RadarOnline.com has the pictures. Lindsay, her younger sister Ali, and about 10 friends went to the Bowlmor Lanes near Times Square. They took over a private area known as the Chinatown Room but how Lindsay scored is being kept top secret. As RadarOnline.com was the first to report, Lindsay received the court’s permission last Sunday to leave California and travel to New York with her family … A preliminary hearing has been set for April 22. That’s when a new judge will decide if there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and also possibly send her to jail for a probation violation. Until then, Lindsay intends to hang with her family and friends in New York.

Lindsay also posted news of her bowling session on her official Twitter profile:

Just spent the afternoon bowling with my little brother and sister at @bowlmorlanes, Michael’s so good ha!

I, personally, find it difficult to sympathize with Lindsay when she claims harassment by the paps when she is so willing to let them photograph her at staged events like this. I mean, let’s be real … she loves the attention. It would just be better for her to stop feigning intrusion and just embrace the attention she obviously craves. I can’t say I blame her for staying in NYC for as long as she can before she has to go back to court. Despite her previous refusal to take the plea bargain being offered her, there is still a very good chance that she will take the deal when she appears in court next month. I suppose they don’t have bowling in jail so, yeah, I can appreciate why she would want to get in a game or two before she has to get locked up in the big house.

Watch: Lifetime TV Releases A Trailer For ‘William & Kate’

Posted: 21 Mar 2011 10:07 AM PDT

Last month we saw photos of actors Nico Evers Swindell and Camilla Luddington on the set of the Lifetime TV movie William & Kate that will tell the tale of Prince William and Kate Middleton‘s romance leading up to their royal engagement last year. Today we get to check out a preview video for the made-for-tv movie that is hoping to capitalize on the growing popularity and interest of next month’s Royal Wedding. Check out the trailer below.

While I still do not think these actors look even remotely like Wills and Kate, I have to admit that I am intrigued by this movie. I think many of us have been following the romance between William and Kate for years but we don’t really know the true story of their love. Now, I’m not expecting this made-for-tv movie to show us the “true story” of their relationship but I am kinda looking forward to seeing a fictional retelling of their romance. Check out the trailer below and see what you think:

Oh the drama!! I’ll admit it, I’m excited. William & Kate will premiere on Lifetime TV on Monday April 18 … just before the real William and Kate say their I Dos in London for all the world to see. Will you be tuning in with me? What do y’all think of the movie based on this trailer?

Madonna Celebrates Purim In Costume As Charlie Chaplin

Posted: 21 Mar 2011 09:03 AM PDT

Happy Purim, y’all!! It is that time of the year of the Jewish Festival of Purim (which is an annual celebration that honors the deliverance of the Jewish people by dressing up in costume) and today we learn that Madonna — or Esther, as she is known in Kabbalah — got herself all dolled up as classic movie star Charlie Chaplin for the celebration. Check out Madonna‘s version of Chaplin below.

As you may recall, Madonna dressed up like her daughter Lourdes Maria Cicconne Leon for Purim last year but this year, she decided to dress in drag. You may also recall that Maddy celebrated Purim last year with her much younger toyboy Jesus Luz … but he was nowhere to be seen this year. Ah, what a difference a year makes.

Sandra Bullock & Louis Bardo Enjoy A Fun Playdate At The Park

Posted: 21 Mar 2011 08:51 AM PDT

Sandra Bullock has temporarily relocated to NYC to film a new movie and spent part of her weekend away from the set in the close company of her adorable baby son Louis Bardo. Sandra and Louis spent their Sunday afternoon playing together at a park in Manhattan and it looks like they had a great time together. Check out the ADORABLE photos below.

Are you kidding me with these photos? Does not Louis look like a miniature man? He is so cute. I really love the way that Sandra dotes on her little man … they make the cutest pair, don’t you think? Little Louis is one of those babies who looks cute no matter what he does. He is just the cutest thing ever. Love these pics!!

Sean Penn & Scarlett Johansson Continue To Creep In SoCal

Posted: 21 Mar 2011 07:59 AM PDT

Earlier this month we saw photos of Scarlett Johansson and Sean Penn sharing a cozy and intimate lunch together and then about a week later we heard that the couple sneaked off for an intimate dinner together. Today we get to see new photos of Scarlett and Sean on their latest tryst here in SoCal this weekend as the couple left another late night dinner at Ciconni’s restaurant on Saturday night.

As you can see, Sean and Scarlett left the restaurant separately but they ended up in the same car together … in fact, Scarlett ended up ON Sean‘s lap in the backseat as their car sped away. It sounds like these two have been pretty inseparable for the past few weeks … what looked like a little fling is now lookin’ more like an actual relationship. Now, 3 dates (well, that we know of) do not a relationship make but Sean Penn doesn’t strike me as the kind of man who likes to dally around with women. Might Scarlett and Sean be in it for the long haul? Stay tuned …

#HappyBirthday @Twitter

Posted: 21 Mar 2011 07:44 AM PDT

Birthday Lurve goes out to the micro-blogging social media site Twitter today as it celebrates it’s 5th birthday. By far, Twitter is my favorite of the social networking options available to me (yes, even over Facebook) so it is with great pleasure that I celebrate Twitter‘s 5th birthday/anniversary today.

The message was cryptic. Two words. No context, no punctuation, just: “inviting coworkers” But that short statement proved to be enough to launch a global phenomenon that has launched careers, reunited long-lost relatives, and even, some would argue, topple dictators. It was the first tweet. Since Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey posted it on March 21, 2006, Twitter has registered nearly 200 million users who now post more than a billion tweets every week. Dorsey has spent the last few days tweeting a timeline of sorts, sharing what he was doing just before the big launch. On Sunday, he tweeted: “5 yrs ago today, the eve of launching twttr to the company. Moving from @Biz, @florian & me, to all of our peers using it. Nervous. #twttr” His anxiety certainly paid off. Since its launch, Twitter has played a role in a wide range of headline-making events, from the Egyptian revolution to Charlie Sheen’s battle with CBS. It’s also become a business tool, with many major companies now using accounts to advertise deals and encourage word-of-mouth marketing. Twitter’s importance in communication was made plain during the moments after Japan’s earthquake and tsunami this month. Twitter says it set a record of 6,939 tweets per second immediately after the 9.0-magnitude quake struck on March 11, and 177 million tweets went out as the day wore on. It took three years, two months and a day for Twitter to get to one billion tweets. The site now averages 140 million tweets a day. Twitter is a privately-held company, so its finances are not made public. Last month, the Wall Street Journal reported that suitors were valuing it at $8 to $10 billion.

It’s really insane to think about the importance Twitter holds in the world of social media, at least right now. The service was integral in the revolution of the country of Egypt and is THE place where the most important (and yes, the most frivolous) news around the world breaks. I love Twitter because it is a great way to check in with people on a moment by moment basis. Facebook involves a significant time commitment to sort thru all of the information shared by family and friends. Twitter is instant, concise and immediate. I remember signing up for Twitter in the early years and being bored with it because no one that I knew was using the service. But I absolutely knew that the site would be fun to use once my friends started “tweeting” about stuff. I could never have guessed that Twitter would grow to be such a force to be reckoned with. Let’s send our #BirthdayLurve to @Twitter today. You can follow me on Twitter at @trentvanegas and you can follow Pink is the new Blog at @pitnb. Are you guys on Twitter? Post your usernames in the comments below. Happy Twitter Day, y’all!!
