Watch: ‘Green Lantern’ Releases A New, Plot-Filled Movie Trailer

Last month we got to see video footage of the upcoming DC Comics film Green Lantern that was screened at WonderCon 2011 which technically wasn’t an official trailer per se but did feature a lot of footage from the film. In November of last year, we got to see the first official trainer released for Green Lantern. Today we get to see a newly released trailer for Lantern that shows us what the central plot of the film will be. Yes, we’ll see an origin story and yes, Green Lantern will face one of his most infamous villains … but there is another threat that looks to be the main focus of the film’s central storyline.


Ooooooooh, as much as I loved the WonderCon footage, I think I like this trailer just a bit more. In my review of Thor, I was very complimentary on all of the beautiful CGI special FX … but it looks like Green Lantern will feature beautiful FX of its own. Naturally, it’s hard to judge based just on this trailer but I am really looking forward to seeing Green Lantern in IMAX 3D. It looks so good, don’t it? Wee!!

The Tributes From Districts 6, 7 & 8 Have Been Cast In ‘The Hunger Games’

It’s been a few days since we’ve had a casting update from The Hunger Games and since that time, the new tributes have been piling up. Today we learn that the unnamed tributes from Districts 6, 7 and 8 have been cast with relative newcomers. The official Facebook profile of The Hunger Games film has been updated on a daily basis with this casting information but particulars about the actors themselves has been fairly light. Read below to find out with actors have been cast as the District 6, 7 and 8 tributes in The Hunger Games.


Actors Ashton Moio and Kara Petersen have been cast as the boy and girl tributes from District 6. Moio has featured in bit parts in No Ordinary Family, iCarly and Dexter. Petersen is a stunt actress who will be seen in the JJ Abrams film Super 8. Leigha Hancock and Sam Ly have been cast as the girl and boy tributes from District 7. Hancock has never been in any film or TV projects before but Ly featured in the straight-to-video sequel films Tremors 4: The Legend Begins and Timecop: The Berlin Decision. Samuel Tan and Mackenzie Lintz have been cast as the boy and girl tributes from District 8. Tan doesn’t appear to have any previous acting credentials but Lintz comes from an acting family … and she screentested for True Grit. We should be finding out which actors have been cast for Districts 9 and 10 tomorrow and Friday … and then, hopefully, who will play the coveted (and named) roles of District 2 tributes Cato and Clove. Benjamin Millepied Is Still Dancing In The Streets Of NYC

Yesterday we saw a batch of really cute photos of Natalie Portman‘s babydaddy-to-be Benjamin Millepied dancing his buns off on the streets of NYC, NY. It turns out that Ben was actually filming a commercial for Yves St. Laurent. Today, we get to see a few more photos from the set of the YSL commercial shoot and as you can see from the photos below, Benjamin really got into the swing of things this time around.


Aww … I bet this commercial is going to turn out really well … but, I have to say, I’m kinda bummed that this turned out to be a commercial shoot and not an impromptu and random dance session. I really loved the idea that Benjamin was just walking along and then BAM! he decided to bust out some serious dance moves right there on the streets of NYC. Ah well … it’s still fun seeing him in action. Very soon, tho, Benjamin will really have cause to dance and celebrate because he’s about to become a father … and that alone is reason enough to dance in the streets ;D

Watch: Beyoncé Releases A Second Music Video Teaser For ‘Run The World (Girls)’

A few weeks ago Beyoncé released a short teaser video for her new single Run The World (Girls) and today we has released a second teaser. Altho the single itself has been released on iTunes, we don’t know yet when the music video will be released, it seems evident from the look of these teaser clips that it’s going to one fierce music video. Check out the second teaser clip below and see what we’ve got coming our way from Queen Bey.


As you may recall, we got to see a LOT of photos from the set of the Run The World (Girls) music video set so we have some idea of how the whole thing will turn out. I am really digging this song. The more I listen to it, the more I love it. As for the video … I’m not gonna lie … I’m intrigued. This teaser clip makes it clear that Bey isn’t the only strong woman featured in the music video … I can’t wait to see the final product.

Movie Review: ‘Thor’

As I mentioned earlier, David and I were lucky enough to see an early screening of the year’s FIRST Summer blockbuster film Thor here in LA last night and I am happy to report that I really loved the film. Forget for a minute that Thor is a really exciting action movie, what I loved most about the film was the story and the direction. Yes, folks, this is a superhero film worth seeing for cinematic reasons rather than merely FX and explosions.


With Kenneth Branaugh in the director’s seat, you have to know that Thor is not going to be your run-of-the-mill superhero flick. Yes, Thor tells the tale of the God of Thunder depicted in the long-running Marvel comic book series … but it also tells the centuries old myths from Norse lore. Much of the scenery that is used for the worlds of Asgard and Jötunheim is all CGI … but it is among the most flawlessly beautiful CGI I’ve ever seen. We saw Thor in IMAX 3D and I couldn’t get over how amazingly beautiful the special effects looked. Branaugh really outdid himself with this film. His mastery of bringing Shakespeare‘s stories to the big screen is legendary … who knew he had it in him to have the same skill for big budget action films as well? As for the story, we learn the Thor “creation myth” (ie. how the superhero Thor came to be) but we also get a very loose retelling of the Norse myth as well. Not only is the story adventurous but it’s also very funny. The entire cast is just fantastic … Sir Anthony Hopkins as Odin is EVERYTHING. He plays the Allfather to a tee. Kat Dennings provides the PERFECT comedic relief … but lead actor Chris Hemsworth also provides a few LULz of his own. And people, let me tell you … Hemsworth makes a beautiful god. There’s a shirtless scene that literally made the audience gasp. I really loved every single second of this film. I was a bit worried how they were going to make the god Thor seem believable on Earth … but they managed to not only make him believable but kinda relatable as well. Do you remember how flawlessly executed the first Iron Man film was? Thor is just as good or BETTER than that. If you can, I recommend seeing the film in IMAX (IMAX 3D if you can) because the size and scope really makes a difference. Thor sets a high standard for the rest of the superhero and blockbuster films to come this year. It’s really fantastic.

MAKE SURE you stay in the theater until after the credits finish rolling … there is an extra scene at the very, very end that you cannot miss.

I cannot recommend Thor enough … it’s an excellent blockbuster film … I really think all y’all will truly enjoy it.

Hammer Time

Last night, David and I made our way to the AMC Theater in Century City for an early screening of the new Paramount Pictures film Thor (review forthcoming). I have been DYING to see this movie ever since I heard it was going into production last year so, needless to say, I was very excited to see it. To be honest, our movie outing last night was the highlight of the day … but what a highlight it was.


I’ll post a more formal review shortly … but I will say right now that I LOVED the film very much. It’s really good, trust me. David and I really enjoyed our night out together. We hadn’t enjoyed a nice “date night” in some time so we had a blast. The weather has been heating up so we were totally fine with spending a nice evening indoors, in an air-conditioned theater. Tonight, we are planning to meet up with Tam, Rob and Ollie for our postponed bowling date. We were supposed to go bowling on Monday but the Hollywood premiere of Thor totally messed up our plans, ironically enough. But tonight … it’s game on. I can’t wait :D

Watch: Google Releases An Amazing ‘It Gets Better’ TV Commercial

In the wake of the disturbing influx of teen suicides by GLBT youth, Dan Savage started the It Gets Better campaign late last year where people were encouraged to make videos in support of GLBT teens in an effort to put an end to teen suicide. Last night, during Glee, Google Chrome aired an amazing commercial in prime time that highlights the amazing work of the It Gets Better campaign … and it’s a video that I think we all should see.


I’m not even going to lie here … I actually started to tear up when this commercial aired on TV last night. It says something very important, I think, that a commercial like this was aired in prime time on national television. The aim of the It Gets Better campaign is to show GLBT youth who are considering suicide as a way to end the torment they might endure because of who they are as gay teens that they are NOT alone. If just one of these supportive videos can save a life, then the It Gets Better campaign has done its job. But, it’s a job that isn’t over yet. I was just so moved by this commercial last night that I simply had to share it with all y’all today.

Shania Twain Opens Up About Her Marital Woes On ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show’

Shania Twain, who split from her husband Robert Mutt Lange back in 2008 after he cheated on her with her best friend, made an appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show yesterday to open up about the sad end of her last marriage and the happy new beginning of her new marriage to Frédéric Thiébaud. Twain, who has her own show titled Why Not? on Oprah‘s OWN network, spoke very candidly about the past few years of her personal life and revealed that the betrayal that she suffered almost silenced her singing career forever.

Country singer Shania Twain has revealed that she was so shattered by the collapse of her marriage that she feared she would never sing again. In her first TV interview in five years, Twain told Oprah Winfrey that she became ‘an emotional mess’ when she found out in 2008 that her best friend and her husband had fallen for each other. ‘I figured mentally that I would never sing again,’ the five-time Grammy Award winner told Winfrey. Twain said she not only lost her husband, but her producer and co-writer when she split with in Robert John ‘Mutt’ Lange after he ran off with her best friend, Marie-Anne Thiebaud. ‘I hadn’t written a song without this man in 14 years….How do I even get started?,’ she said in an interview won The Oprah Winfrey Show. Twain, whose 1997 album Come on Over was a huge crossover hit, revealed that she also suffers from dysphonia, an ailment where the muscles squeeze the voice box. ‘My fears and anxieties throughout my whole life have been slowly squeezing my voice,’ Twain told Winfrey. ‘I was losing it slowly and progressively.’ Twain chronicles the demise of her 14-year marriage and her fight to get her voice back in a new book ‘From This Moment On’ and a documentary series ‘Why Not?’ that debuts on Sunday on Winfrey’s cable TV network OWN … In her memoir and TV documentary, the Canadian singer recounts how she grew up poor and witnessed her step-father physically abuse her mother on a regular basis only to see them both die in a car accident, leaving Twain to raise her siblings. Twain called her husband’s betrayal ‘a trigger crisis,’ and ‘the straw that broke the camel’s back of something that had already been building.’ Eventually, Twain found solace with Frederic Thiebaud, the husband of the woman who was once her best friend. The two married on January 1.

I first heard about Shania‘s sad childhood life on VH1‘s Behind the Music … but I can’t help but be curious about the cheating event that caused the end of her marriage. It is insane to me that Mutt would cheat on Shania with her best friend … and that Shania would find love with the ex-husband of that best friend. It’s a weird real life version of Wife Swap. It is my sincere hope that Shania will be able to make music again. She was one of my faves and I really look forward to her return to the music world. Stevie Nicks Says That Lindsay Lohan Will ‘Never’ Play Her In A Biopic

Stevie Nicks sat down with CNN for a new interview this week to promote the release of her new album In Your Dreams and she spoke very frankly about the fact that she does NOT want Lindsay Lohan to portray her in a biopic about her life. For a few months now there have been rumors going around that Lohan might play Nicks in a new film but Stevie makes it VERY CLEAR in this new interview that Lindsay will “never” play her until she “cleans up her life”. Stevie Nicks has insisted that she won’t allow Lindsay Lohan to play her in a biopic unless the star “cleans up”. Responding to reports that Lohan hopes one day to star as her in a feature film, Fleetwood Mac singer Nicks said that she doesn’t believe the actress is in the right state of mind to take on the role. “She’s never going to [play me],” she vowed to HLN. “That’s never going to happen unless she cleans up her life and becomes the great actress I feel she can be. Everybody thinks I hate her, and it’s not that at all.” Nicks further explained that she actually relates to Lohan’s alleged struggle with substance abuse because she battled cocaine addiction for many years, before kicking the drug for good in the 1980s. “I was completely messed up for a long time and I got it together,” the musician added. “She’s a very talented girl… if she could get it together, she could have a really big career and she could do great things.”


Well now … tells us how you really feel, Stevie. I have to say, tho, it’s refreshing to have a celeb speak so openly and frankly about how they feel about this sort of thing. There is usually a lot of hemming and hawing when people are pressed with direct questions like this. It’s important to remember that Stevie Nicks endured her own substance abuse issues so she knows what she is talking about. Playing the role of Stevie Nicks in a feature film could be a career defining moment for anyone’s career. If Lindsay is truly serious about cleaning up her life and getting her career back on track then she should take Stevie‘s comments to heart and use them for inspiration. My guess is that Stevie Nicks might champion Lindsay one day … after she has proven that she has truly cleaned up her life. What do y’all think of Stevie‘s comments about Lindsay? Mariah Carey Reveals The Names Of Her Twin Babies

Earlier today we learned that Mariah Carey teased the names of her twin babies on her official Twitter profile yesterday and JUST NOW, the names of her children have been announced. The girl baby has been named Monroe and the boy baby has been named Moroccan Scott. Yes, for real. Read below for all the deets about how Mariah and Nick Cannon decided to name their children.

Mariah Carey and her husband Nick Cannon have finally revealed the names of their twins who were born in Los Angeles on Saturday. Their son is named Moroccan Scott Cannon. Scott is Nick's middle name, as well as his grandmother's maiden name. The top tier of Mariah's New York City apartment is called the Moroccan Room, because of the Moroccan-inspired decor. It's also the place where Nick proposed to his wife, overlooking Manhattan! Their daughter's name is Monroe Cannon. Mariah’s rep says she does not have a middle name because Mariah herself does not have one. Monroe was named after Marilyn Monroe, who has been an inspiration to Mariah her whole life. In fact, Mariah purchased the Hollywood icon's white piano from Christie’s auction house and it is in Mariah's will that the piano will one day go to the Smithsonian. Mariah's rep, Cindi Berger, tells CNN, "It has been a long, emotional journey for this family, and I couldn't be happier for all of them."

Yes, folks, her kids can actually be referred to as Mo Mo. As I mentioned earlier, my guess was that Mimi was going to announce her baby names with the release of the first baby photos (in order to maximize the impact) but I guess that turned out not to be the case. This way, I suppose, Mimi can create a sensation with the baby name announcement AND then again with the baby photos.

I, for one, think the names are interesting … not too wacky … but unique. So … I gotta know … what do YOU think of the names Monroe and Moroccan Scott? Do you like these names for Mariah and Nick‘s babies?

David Beckham Goes Motorcycling In SoCal

Last week we saw photos of soccer stud David Beckham all dressed up and lookin’ snazzy at the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, but today we learn that Becks has already made his way back home to LA, CA and has settled back into normal American life. Becks spent part of his yesterday tooling around Malibu, CA on his custom motorcycle. As you can see in the photos below, Becks was lookin’ very much the badass … despite the fact that his fancy leather gloves were matched PERFECTLY with his fancy leather manbag satchel.


Okay, accessories aside … Becks does really look tough and stuff on his motorcycle. I LOVE how beat up his helmet is … with all those dents and scars, you’d think he was involved in multiple cycle wipe-outs or something. It was hot here in SoCal yesterday so Becks did need to cool off. During his visit to Malibu, Becks stripped down to his trunks and cooled off a bit in the ocean:


After he sunbathed a bit, it was back on the bike and back home to the family. I don’t know about YOU but I really like the sight of David Beckham on a motorcycle. It’s a good look for him, don’t you think?

Mariah Carey Teases Her Twin Baby Names On Twitter

Last weekend we learned the happy news that Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon became the proud parents of a healthy set of twin babies. At the time of the announcement, we learned how big the babies were when they were born and at what time they came into the world. The names of the baby girl and boy were not revealed … but according to Mimi herself, the baby names are coming. She teased the baby names on her official Twitter profile yesterday and promised that the full names will be announced soon. Mariah did give the hint that both baby names begin with the letter M.

So we r bout 2 reveal the actual names and b4 we tell em 2 our friends etc. I had 2 C if any of the #lambily wanted 2 guess!!! / The game continues!!!! This crew is a lil slow..lil slow…! Coming up next-the initials..I love the #lambily!!!! / both begin w/M’s!!!! : )

I contend that the baby names will be revealed when the first photos of the twins appear on the cover of their first magazine. It’s possible that Mariah and Nick plan to hold off on releasing the first baby photos and may reveal the names beforehand but the impact of both the photos and the names being announced at the same time would be huge. So … any guesses that Mr. and Mrs. Cannon named their twin children? Madison and Martin? Molly and Matthew? Megan and Marlon? What are your guesses?
