Prince William & Kate Middleton Arrive In North America Posted: 30 Jun 2011 05:30 PM PDT Earlier today we saw photos of Prince William and Kate Middleton departing from London, England on their way to Ottawa, Canada to begin the first leg of their North American visit. Right now, we get to see the first photos of Wills and Kate as they touched down on North American soil just a bit ago. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are in Canada on official business this week, not the least of which to help celebrate Canada Day tomorrow. Click below to see photos of the Royal couple making their arrival in Canada today. Prince William and new bride Princess Catherine arrived in Canada Thursday for their international debut as Britain’s royal golden couple, hoping star power will win skeptical Canadians over to the monarchy. William and Kate, her dark hair blowing in the wind, stepped off the plane under overcast skies to be greeted by dignitaries before rushing off to their first official engagement on foreign soil. Thousands desperate to glimpse the 29-year-old newlyweds lined the streets of Ottawa ahead of a wreath-laying ceremony at a World War I memorial. While Prince William has plenty of experience of royal duties, his wife — known until recently as Kate Middleton — is still a rookie in the public eye. At the start of the nine-day tour of the key British Commonwealth nation, Princess Catherine was to have an immediate chance to show she had learnt the ropes, meeting and greeting the gathering throng after the ceremony. Prince William’s great-grandparents King George VI and Queen Elizabeth unveiled the memorial in 1939 and established a new tradition with the first royal walkabout, stopping to chat with some in the 100,000-strong crowd. Full of pomp and ceremony, the trip comes just two months after a radiant Kate Middleton walked down the aisle in the wedding-of-the-year, watched by an estimated two billion people worldwide. “It’s symbolic that Canada is the first place they have chosen to visit,” said Dave Sencial, who had come all the way from Canada’s easternmost Newfoundland province to see the royal couple … In addition to official pageantry and military ceremonies, the schedule of the royal visit has its lighter moments, such as a cooking class, an aboriginal sports event and a rodeo. The initiation for the British royal family’s newest member, also known as the Duchess of Cambridge, will be vital training for the future queen in the cauldron-like atmosphere of public walkabouts. Their first day will kick off with military honors as well as speeches by Prime Minister Stephen Harper, Governor General David Johnston and Prince William himself. Later, the royals are to attend a barbecue with 120 young Canadians at the official residence of the British governor general, Rideau Hall, originally the home of a Scottish stonemason. On July 1, they cap off their visit to Ottawa celebrating Canada’s national holiday, joining tens of thousands outside parliament for musical performances and fireworks. After taking a cooking class in Montreal on July 2, William and Catherine will travel to Quebec City, Charlottetown, Yellowknife and Calgary. Prior to their final stop in Canada, the newlyweds, who honeymooned in May in the Seychelles, were expected to sneak away on a romantic getaway to a secluded and undisclosed location in the Rocky Mountains for a day and night. And away they go … are you excited? I know there are still a few days until Wills and Kate arrive in the US but I think we can all be excited about their visit to Canada, our neighbors to the North. Let’s send the young Royals all of our love and welcome them to our happy shores! I can’t wait to see what they get up to … they’re gonna love it here, I just know it! Emma Watson Becomes A Work Of Art Posted: 30 Jun 2011 04:30 PM PDT Next month Emma Watson can be seen in the final Harry Potter film, The Deathly Hallows Pt. 2, but today we get to see the beautiful young actress as a work of art … litterally. Artist Mark Demsteader has found inspiration in muse Emma Watson and has painted her likeness in a few differnet portraits. Check out some of them below. She is more commonly subjected to the glare of the camera and red carpet flashbulb. But Emma Watson’s image has been captured on canvas by figurative artist Mark Demsteader. She is the star of his current exhibition ‘Emma’ at Panter and Hall, a London gallery that specialises in British contemporary art. The actress and model originally spotted Mark’s artworks on a trip home to Oxford and decided to buy a drawing as a present to herself for her 21st birthday this April. After exchanging emails Emma agreed to collaborate on a series of works, which are now being exhibited and sold for prices ranging from £3,000 to £8,000. Mark used photographs from a North London photo shoot he arranged with the young actress earlier this year to create the portraits. ‘I was slightly hesitant at first, not because I didn’t want to work with Mark, but simply because I wasn’t sure if I was comfortable with an entire exhibition of pictures of me! ‘I am thrilled with how they have come out; they are beautiful. Mark is so talented – I wish I had a fraction of his skill!’ Emma told Vogue. A mix of mediums have been used including pastel, collage, ink and oil paint to create over 30 pieces. As a thank you the artist, whose career has flourished over recent years presented Emma with a painting of her choice. Mark, who is based in Manchester said: ‘It has been a wonderful privilege to work with Emma on these images. ‘I wanted to capture a moment in time, and by making each piece a quick snapshot. ‘In some way I hope these works celebrate Emma in what she has achieved already, and in all the many possibilities to come.’ The works of art are available to buy and the exhibition closes tomorrow. With most of the paintings already sold, Mark has also released a print of one of his portraits of Emma for £125. Ten per cent of the profits going to CAMFED International, a charity which supports young women in Africa. These paintings are beautiful. I love them all. I’m very impressed that Emma has given this artist her seal of approval AND that a charity print is being offered for sale. I honestly wouldn’t mind hanging one of these masterpieces in my home. They’re so cool, aren’t they? [Source] |
Jared Leto Poses For A Batch Of Hotel Room Photos For Terry Richardson Posted: 30 Jun 2011 03:30 PM PDT It’s been about a month since we’ve seen photos shot by Terry Richardson of actor and 30 Seconds to Mars frontman Jared Leto doing interesting things. Last month, Jared was acting a fool for BFF Terry‘s camera in Paris, France. This month, he’s spazzing out in a hotel room presumably in NYC. Click below to see some fun photos from Jared‘s latest shoot with Terry. Cute pics … but I’m thinkin’ Jared needs to mix it up a bit. Summer’s here, the weather is hot … why so many clothes, huh? For the July batch of photos, JL, how’s about you show some more skin? K, thanks, bye. [Source] |
Watch: Britney Spears Releases A Remix Video For ‘I Wanna Go’ Posted: 30 Jun 2011 02:30 PM PDT Last week we got our first look at the new music video for Britney Spears‘s new single I Wanna Go. Today we get to see the official remix video for the song. Click below to watch the video for I Wanna Go, remixed by DJ Frank E and Alex Dreamz and get your boogie on. While I have to confess that I prefer the original, album version of this song over this remix … it’s not bad. In fact, I’ve been pretty impressed with the remix work that we’ve been getting from the Femme Fatale singles. Not only is the album basic pop perfection but the remix tracks have been pretty entertaining as well. I can dig this remix … can you? [ Source] |
Movie Review: ‘Transformers: Dark Of The Moon’ Posted: 30 Jun 2011 01:30 PM PDT After suffering thru the atrociousness of the absolutely HORRENDOUS Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, I was certain that I would never pay to see another Transformers film. But, after seeing the teaser trailer for Transformers: Dark of the Moon last December, I was convinced the new film would be better … cuz there was no way it could be worse. Yesterday, I made my way out to the Arclight Theater to see T3 and found that, for the most part, I enjoyed the movie. Oh, it’s not without it’s HUGE faults but overall … I did like the flick. Let’s get the negative stuff out of the way. There are KEY plot points in this film that are just plain stupid. Like, DUMB. Much of the writing is pretty bad … I saw T3 in the Dome at the Arclight and I’d say that 90% of the jokes generated NO laughter at all. That the ending is abrupt was annoying but the way that the film’s resolution came about was so laughably bad, I damn near fell out of my chair. If we are supposed to believe that Megatron — the vicious leader of the Decepticons — could be “talked into” taking action by a skinny human girl then the Transformers writers truly think we are morons. But … absent these really terrible things about the movie, the action and FX more than makes up for the its shortcomings. Let’s be real, people do not go see Transformers for the writing, acting and/or plot development. If you turn your brain off for a bit, you can really enjoy Dark of the Moon. I did enjoy the inventive way that history is utilized in the storyline. From the moon landing, to the Chernobyl disaster, real events from our recent history are “explained” in T3 … in a very clever way, I must say. If I had to rank them, I’d say the first Transformers film is the best of the 3 … followed by Dark of the Moon … and Revenge of the Fallen doesn’t even rank — it’s that crappy. Transformers: Dark of the Moon is, for the most part, a fun film with a lot of eye candy (some of it filmed in my beloved Detroit, MI btw). I enjoyed it … way more than I hated it :) |
High Art Posted: 30 Jun 2011 12:30 PM PDT Yesterday was a pretty bizzy day for me … after seeing an early afternoon showing of Transformers: Dark of the Moon (review forthcoming), David and I made our way to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art for a members only party in honor of the Tim Burton Exhibit currently on display. Afterward, we made our way to The Other Door in North Hollywood, CA to hang out at the Fumadores dance party. ‘Twas a really fun day/night. Altho the Tim Burton exhibit has been open for about a month now, last night was the first chance that David and I got to see it. Overall, I loved the exhibit. While I think it would benefit a bit from some editing, it’s deffo worth checking out. From the LACMA, we made our way to The Other Door to listen to our friend Ollie and her DJ buds spin at a party: Maybe it was by bizzy day but I couldn’t shake the feeling yesterday that the whole day felt like a Friday. I don’t know if anyone else felt the same but I was bummed to wake this morning to a Thursday rather than a Saturday :) Still, with the long weekend ahead, there’ll be plenty of time for relaxation. |

First Look: The First Crime Scene Of ‘Dexter’ Season 6 Posted: 30 Jun 2011 10:16 AM PDT Last month we got to see the first photos from the SoCal set of the hit Showtime series Dexter, which returns to the air this Fall with its 6th season. A couple of weeks ago, we got to see the first promo video for the show. Today, courtesy of Entertainment Weekly magazine, we get our first look at the first crime scene from Dexter season 6. Click below to see the first promo photo released from the upcoming new season of Dexter. Waiting for season 6 of Dexter is murder, but here's something to tide you over — a first look at an image from the first episode! (We pause for a SPOILER ALERT.) Witness blood splatter analyst/serial killer Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) squatting by a stitched-up corpse while preparing an evidence bag of… baby snakes? "That is the first mysterious kill linked to Professor Gellar that's going to cross Dexter's path and let him know that he's up against a killer, the likes of which he hasn't seen before," exec producer Scott Buck tells EW, referencing the charismatic religious studies professor that will be played by Edward James Olmos. "This is a person who's sending out a message, and Dexter can't wait to figure out what that message is." OMG … love this photo! Dexter is my fave show on the air right now and I am really excited for a whole new season of the show. The addition of Edward James Olmos to the cast is GREAT news, IMHO, and I am very much looking forward to seeing what he will bring to the world of Dexter. This week’s issue of EW magazine contains another promo photo from Dexter season 6, so make sure you pick up a copy. I am a longtime subscriber to the mag so I’ll be watching my mailbox. LOOOOVE Dexter :D [Source] |
Alicia Silverstone Shows Off Her Newborn Baby Boy Bear Blu Posted: 30 Jun 2011 09:53 AM PDT Last month, just in time for Mother’s Day, Alicia Silverstone and hubby Christopher Jarecki welcomed the birth of their firstborn child, a baby boy they named Bear Blu. Today, we get our first look at the little dude as US Weekly brings us the first photo of Alicia introducing the world to her newborn son. Click below to meet little Bear Blu. First-time mom Alicia Silverstone shares the first-ever photos of son Bear Blu Jarecki exclusively in the new Us Weekly, out Wednesday. The 34-year-old Vamps actress and rocker husband Christopher Jarecki welcomed their boy in L.A. on May 5. Bear Blu (whose quirky name was suggested by Silverstone’s mother-in-law) weighed in at 7 pounds, 15 ounces, and “had crazy amounts of hair when he came out,” Silverstone tells Us. “He’s really calm.” And the Clueless star and Kind Diet author admits she went into full-on nesting mode after Bear Blu made his grand entrance. “I didn’t leave the house at all for six weeks after his birth,” Silverstone tells Us. “I wanted to soak in every moment of his scrumptiousness.” And hubby of six years Jarecki loves being a dad, too. “We all take baths together sometimes,” she notes. What a cute little BOY! OMG … he is a precious doll. Alicia and Christopher did very well … Bear Blu is the cutest little thing. I know that some people have been giving Alicia greif for giving her son a “wacky” name but let’s remember … the name Bear did very well for Bear Grylls. I am DEFFO picking up this week’s issue of US Weekly because I MUST see more photos of this darling little dude. He is a cutie, ain’t he? OY! To die for cute!!! [Source] |
Aaron Carter Claims Michael Jackson Gave Him Drugs & Alcohol Posted: 30 Jun 2011 08:44 AM PDT Just days after the 2 year anniversary of Michael Jackson‘s death, OK! magazine is publishing an interview with troubled pop star Aaron Carter wherein he claims that MJ gave him drugs and alcohol during hang out sessions. Altho Aaron takes some responsibility by saying that he “could’ve refused” the offers of illicit (and illegal) items, it’s clear that the interview is meant to cast the late King of Pop in a negative light … but for what purpose? Click below to read some excerpts from Carter‘s new OK! interview about his time with Michael Jackson. On the second anniversary of Michael Jackson's death, his former friend and confidant, Aaron Carter, 23, has come clean about his close – and controversial – relationship with the pop singer, revealing all to internationally renowned interviewer Daphne Barak during a charity visit to Marbella, Spain. Exposing their most intimate moments together, Aaron tells OK! how MJ gave him drugs and alcohol when he was just 15. 'I never talked about it… This is the first time. I do… I miss Michael… I have spent such incredible times with him. I did things with him that nobody else did… But I was also troubled about what he did to me,' Aaron says. When asked whether Michael gave him alcohol, Aaron tells Daphne, 'Yes, he gave me wine. I mean, I could have refused, but I was 15.' As for drugs? 'He gave me cocaine. I felt weird about that and other stuff… We spoke afterwards, hours and hours, on the phone. I admired Michael, but his behaviour bothered me a lot. Then my mother called the police…' HMMM. I’m not sure what to make of this revelation. When last we heard from Aaron Carter, he was checking himself into rehab back in January … which is really not very surprising because the kid has been in and out of rehab for years. I’m always very hesitant to discount revelations of abuse like this (and make no mistake, this is an allegation of severe child abuse) because I have no interest in blaming the victim in situations like this … IF the allegations are true. I suppose we have no reason to disbelieve Carter‘s claims (and let’s not forget — there were many allegations that MJ provided alcohol to children while he was still alive) … but the timing of the revelation AND decision to tell (sell?) this story to a tabloid seems suspect. In the end, it’s Aaron Carter‘s word against a dead man’s. What do y’all think of Aaron Carter‘s revelation? Do you believe him? [Source] |
Prince William & Kate Middleton Make Their Way To North America Posted: 30 Jun 2011 08:27 AM PDT Last week we got to see the official photo of Prince William and Kate Middleton released to coincide with their first ever North American visit as a married couple and today is the big day … Wills and Kate are on their way! The couple left England earlier today and are scheduled to arrive in Ottawa, Canada this afternoon to beging the Canadian leg of their royal tour. The royals won’t be arriving in the US until next week … but today, they set foot on North American soil to begin their royal visit. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge proved they were in perfect sync as they boarded a plane to Canada today. Wearing matching navy blue, the couple were pictured on the runway heading to the Royal Canadian Air Force aircraft at London’s Heathrow Airport. They are expected to land in Ottawa at 2pm local time. Kate was the picture of understated elegance on the runway in a blue shift dress and matching £579 blazer with gold buttons, by Smythe. She accessorized with blue court shoes and a £895 Mulberry handbag. William wore a suit of the same colour and a red tie. With her hair freshly blow-dried, Kate’s glossy mane will no doubt continue to look flawless throughout the trip as she is rumoured to be travelling with her hairdresser James Pryce. Her wardrobe has been kept under wraps but potential outfits have been an endless source of speculation over the last few weeks. Kate is said to have hired a personal shopper at London department store Selfridges. Judging by her outfit today, it seems Kate is starting to favour high-end labels over the High Street. Either way, the couple are on a tight schedule. William and Kate’s arrival in the Commonwealth country is eagerly anticipated and their appearance later in the capital is expected to draw thousands on to the streets. They will be celebrating Canada Day in Ottawa, opening the Calgary Stampede and canoeing in the Northwest Territories before taking off to Los Angeles. Canada’s prime minister has even unveiled a personal flag for use during William’s visit. It is the first flag to be created by Canada for a member of the royal family since 1962, when the queen adopted a personal flag for her own use in Canada. Prime Minister Stephen Harper said the flag was approved by the queen and William. The Canadian secretary to Queen Elizabeth II and the chief organizer of the trip Kevin MacLeod said: ‘I think given the youth and the dynamism of this couple they will simply continue to reaffirm the important role the crown plays in this country. The young prince also plans to demonstrate his skills as a helicopter rescue pilot by taking part in a water landing demonstration, and the couple is scheduled to put on aprons and take part in a cooking workshop in Quebec City … The prince and Kate jet to Los Angeles on July 8 and will host a gala dinner there the next night to introduce up-and-coming British film talent to Hollywood executives. The southern California trip includes a $4,000 three-course meal and a charity polo match up close with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, as they are formally known. So far, about 1,000 VIP tickets have been sold to the polo match along with about 400 general admission passes, raising nearly $4.4 million for the July 9 event. William plans to play in the match, and his wife will award the trophy to the winning team. William will be celebrating Canada’s birthday on Friday, the same day his mother Diana would have turned 50. He is due to say a few words at a number of stops. Kate is not scheduled to speak. I don’t know about you … but I’m excited by this visit! To me, to be honest, the royals are merely British celebs so their visit to North America is kinda fun for me as a US citizen. I understand some anti-Royal protestors plan to make themselves known at various stops along the way in Canada so the couples’ visit is not without its small share of controversy. I love that this trip will be Kate‘s first visit ever to the US. I’m looking forward to following the Duke and Duchess’s tour of North America, which will begin this afternoon. Should be a fun couple of weeks ;D [Source] |
Lindsay Lohan Freed From House Arrest, Hits The Town To Party Posted: 30 Jun 2011 07:54 AM PDT Yesterday was a big day for Lindsay Lohan … after spending about a month in house arrest (inside her luxury beachfront home, where she was free to booze it up to her heart’s content despite the fact that she was being “punished” for her crimes), Lindsay was released from house arrest and became a free woman once again. Altho Lohan still has many hours of community service to complete and many months of probation left on her sentence, she is now FREE! Lindsay wasted no time getting out of her home and back into the public eye … and back into the party scene. Mere hours had passed since the monitoring bracelet was slipped off and the doors to her Venice Beach home opened. But last night Lindsay Lohan was already hitting the clubs in Hollywood as she celebrated being a free woman once again. The Mean Girls actress attended a farewell party for a close friend at the Lexington Social Club. According to witnesses, Lindsay stayed at the club for five hours before leaving with actor buddy Emile Hirsch. Wearing a demure black wrap dress and strappy ankles to show off her monitoring bracelet-free ankle, Lindsay steadied herself on the way, according to photographers, as she left. The 24-year-old explained the evening’s agenda to fans on Twitter during the evening. She wrote: ‘@lyndsymfonseca and @mdmolinari @ohferras supporting our friend lyndsy for her going away party…… 10months is too long.’ Miss Fonseca, a close friend of Lindsay’s, is a fellow actress known for her roles in Kick-Ass, How I Met Your Mother and Nikita. Before her night on the town, Lindsay commenced her 480 hours of community service. She wrote on Twitter afterwards: ‘Had a great day today at the Downtown Women’s Center… Thank you everyone, staff, volunteers, and the amazing women I get to see for being so kind’ … Meanwhile, Lohan already has big plans for her birthday this weekend. The troubled actress, who turns 25 on Saturday is said to be planning to celebrate at a party in the Hamptons, the New York Post have reported. Lohan has confirmed to attend a joint 40th birthday bash for DJ Paul Sevigny and graffiti artist André Saraiva. However her plans to celebrate her birthday with friends including her ex-Samantha Ronson could be stopped if she has to submit to random drug and alcohol testing. LA district attorney and probation officers could order for Lindsay to undergo regular testing. Lindsay wasted no time getting back into the swing of things. She was talking to TMZ just moments before she was released back into society to begin her first day of freedom. To coincide with Lindsay‘s release from house arrest, the folks at the NoH8 Campaign — who Lindsay posed for while under house arrest a few weeks ago — released her NoH8 promo images: At least she is doing at least one positive thing for the community … I guess. And there you have it … once again, Lindsay is free. You may recall, tho, back in January Lindsay VOWED to stay out of trouble after she was released from court ordered rehab … and just about a week later, she was arrested for stealing that diamond necklace. I guess we’ll have to wait and see if Lindsay will really stay out of trouble this time around … or count the days until she’s back in police custody again. What do y’all think … is Lindsay Lohan a changed woman this time around? [Photo credit: Splash News; Source] |
