SIGH: Kim Kardashian Premieres Her Song "Jam"

Posted: 02 Mar 2011 08:30 AM PST

Just when you thought the music game couldn't get any more sad, Kim Kardashian just debuted her first attempt at singing called "Jam".

She hit up Ryan Seacrest--the person responsible for her family's umpteen reality shows--on his radio show this morn to premiere this ish.  Read on to listen if you'd like....

I've already gone on my rant about the current state of this music game, but this ish right here....

Kim said she "did this for charity" and all (her usual reasoning for all the publicity whoring she does despite the fact she rarely gives more than 10% of her profits to charity), but since she's pubbing it on twitter and her site like she just got signed to a label or something, we're treating it as such.

I'm sure there will be folks who think this Dream produced "Jam" track is the greatest thing since Whitney's National Anthem at the Superbowl, and say "oh, it's just fun", and say anyone who thinks otherwise is just bitter.  Still befuddled about what there is to be bitter about, but....no.

About the braids she decided to rock in the video:

"Hype Williams came up with this Bo Derek braids look for the music video and I loved it!  It took about four hours to do, and believe it or not I fell asleep! I wish I could have worn it longer."

Right.

And, of course, Kim took some time to pub her newest relationship with Nets baller Kris Humphries--despite claiming she would keep her personal relationships private from now on.  She told Ryan:

As to her relationship with Nets player Kris Humphries, Kim divulged “it’s going really well, I’m in a good place…its different with Kris because he lets me be me.” Adding when it comes to her being “me,” “it’s hard to balance it all and he just makes it all calm I can be 100% me and he makes me smile and laugh all the time.” Plus, “he’s the least jealous guy.” As Ryan noted she was radiating with the look of love, Kim responded “I’m happy, I’m really happy!”

Anywho, the more we lower our standards, the more I will continue the rant to save what dignity the music game has left.  Oh damn well.

Serena Williams Undergoes Emergency Surgery For Blood Clot In Lungs!

Posted: 02 Mar 2011 07:37 AM PST

Oh no!  Tennis pro Serena Williams was sent into emergency surgery earlier this week after suffering a blood clot in her lungs. The statement from her rep when you read on...

Apparently, the 29-year-old athelete was in and out of Cedars-Sinai hospital in L.A. last week.  And her rep, Nicole Chabot, confirmed that Serena suffered from a pulmonary embolism.  Chabot told People.com:

Monday Serena Williams underwent emergency treatment at Cedars for a hematoma she suffered as a result of treatment for a more critical situation," the rep says in an exclusive statement.

"Last week, Serena suffered from a pulmonary embolism [a blood clot in the lungs] which was discovered upon her return to L.A. She had been in New York for doctor appointments for the ongoing issues with her foot."

The rep added, "Doctors are continuing to monitor her situation closely to avoid additional complications."

Serena seemed in good spirits when we chatted her up at the Essence Black Women In Hollywood luncheon in L.A. last Thursday.  She also hit up several Oscar parties on Sunday (pictured above at the Vanity Fair after party).  And we hope she gets back to her old self as easily as possible.

Get well soon 'Rena!

The video hs gone viral on the net.  Very thought provoking.

Their Youtube channel describes the song this way:

"Letter to Lil Wayne" is a direct statement of justice from Watoto From The Nile. Growing tired and fed up with the constant degradation of Black women inside of Hip Hop music, they voice thier views and opinions on this melodic track.

Samuel Jackson, Anthony Mackie And Idris Elba Blast The Oscar's "White-Out"

Posted: 02 Mar 2011 05:12 AM PST

When you weren't gawking at how fabulous Jennifer Hudson looked at the Oscars, you may have noticed the absence of Black actors on the broadcast.  It definitely didn't get by Samuel Jackson, Anthony Mackie or Idris Elba who all called out the Oscar committee for not showcasing Black talent.  Get the deets inside...

When TMZ caught up with Samuel Jackson yesterday, they asked him about the 2011 Oscars and the veteran actor had a lot to say.

He aimed a critique directly at the Oscar committee asking, "Where were the Black actors?"

While the absence of Black nominees was a huge blight on the award show, Samuel was further enraged that no Black actors were asked to be presenters.

"I guess they didn't think we were available to read teleprompters that night ... not a big deal, hopefully it'll get better ... it won't happen again," he said.

Then he added,

"We work in town ... they know who we are, they know we're available to be on that show to represent the people of color who are in the business in town."

But Samuel does have hope that the Oscar committee will see their error and correct it next year saying, "Hopefully they wont make that mistake again."

Idris Elba echoed Samuel's thoughts on the Oscar "White-out" saying,

"Halle Berry and I were the only two Black actors nominated for this year's Golden Globes. The Oscars aren't designed for us... let's focus on making more films."

And taking that point a bit further, Anthony Mackie added,

"I think right now [Blacks] are being kinda lazy on our game.  There are enough brothers with distribution deals and productions deals where we should be making our own movies."

But even if Black Hollywood increases its output, will that affect its representation at the Oscars?

What do you think?  Did you take issue with the lack of diversity during the broadcast?

Beyonce Talks Sexy Bedroom Secrets, Ignores Demands To Give Back Millions To Qaddafi

Posted: 01 Mar 2011 04:48 PM PST

Beyonce is the April 2011 covergirl for Cosmopolitan UK.  She's dishing her sexy bedroom secrets, how she gets in the mood, and her guilty pleasures.

We've got some highlights, plus the demands on Beyonce, Usher, and Mariah to give back their millions they received from Libyan dictator Muammar Qadaffi, when you read on....

Bey got her smile on for the new April 2011 issue of Cosmo UK.  She's looking fab on the cover as she dishes on her secrets of seduction:

On how she likes to get her sexy on: “Put on good music and something that makes you feel great. I love a pair of high, sexy stilettos with a beautiful dress. You can be beautiful but if you’re not secure in yourself, you don’t come across as sexy.”

On her guilty pleasure: “I love my butter pecan ice cream, but I also love to work out. We all have our issues. Mine is arms and legs, keeping them tight and toned. It takes work, believe me.”

On whether she’ll start a family: “Yes, I do want to embrace what happens next and family. It’s funny how your outlook changes as you get older, how you look at life – at other women – in a different way. I have so much admiration for women who are mothers, who balance family and work.”

But it's not all smiles in Beyland.  Folks are up in arms that in light of everything going on in Libya, Beyonce, Usher, 50 Cent and Mariah have not given back the millions they received for recently performing for the dictator Muammar Qadaffi.  His dictatorship has been known to kill many of his own people.  Rolling Stone reports:

Carey accepted $1 million to perform for Qaddafi's son, Muatassim, Libya's national-security adviser, at a lavish New Year's Eve party on the Caribbean island of St. Barts in 2008; Beyoncé and Usher performed for an undisclosed sum on the island the following year. 50 Cent gave a performance before Muatassim at a 2005 film festival in Venice. Managers for Usher, 50 Cent and Carey declined comment, and Beyoncé's management, run by her father, Mathew Knowles, did not return phone calls. "They've done it for tons of artists," says a music-business source, referring to Muatassim's parties, which are often jammed with supermodels. "Those guys are all over the world."

Qaddafi’s record of brutality and terrorism during his 40-year reign is well-documented – his regime was linked to a 1986 Berlin disco bombing, causing the deaths of two American soldiers, and the 1988 bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland, which killed 270. Late last month, Libya’s former justice minister told a Swedish newspaper that Qaddafi himself ordered the Pan Am bombing. Muatassim’s brother Seif al-Islam el-Qaddafi recently warned Libyan protesters on state television to abandon the streets or face "rivers of blood."

Videos of Muatassim in a coat, tie and fedora, posing for photos with beautiful women at the Venice festival have circulated on YouTube in the past week. According to media reports, Jay-Z, Lindsay Lohan and supermodels Miranda Kerr and Victoria Silvstedt were in the crowd at St. Barts in 2009; rap mogul Russell Simmons tweeted a photo and caption at the time: "Kevin Lyles [sic] and fiancé Erica @ khadafy party. Beyoncé performing in a bit."

Nelly Furtado has already given her stash received from Qadaffi to charity.  And others are being pushed to follow suit.  Your thoughts?

When your daddy is Will Smith and your mom is Jada Pinkett, you don't have to start out playing in clubs and talent shows. You skip to the front of the line for "The Oprah Show." And it doesn't hurt that O is a good family friend.

We've got the video that just aired today on "Oprah" for the World's Smartest, Most Talented Kids episode of Willow performing her new single, "21st Century Girl," when you read on...

As Willow did her interview with Ms. Winfrey, I couldn't help but see ALL her mother's influence.  She's indeed her mini-me.  And here's the sneak peek at her new official video for the track:

Cute.

MAGAZINE FAB: Aretha Franklin Covers "JET" And Talks Weight Loss + Waka Flocka's $100,000 Muppet Chain

Posted: 01 Mar 2011 01:58 PM PST

The "new" Aretha Franklin covers the latest issue of JET Magazine and we have the "pretty in pink" cover inside.  Come inside to find out how much weight Aretha lost and to see what $100,000 got Waka Flocka at the jewelry store.

"It's a brand new chapter in my life," says Aretha Franklin in the latest issue of JET magazine.  "It's a brand new me - I am still the same but with some changes."

The Queen of Soul tells the magazine that she lost 25 pounds.  (Pause for blank stare)

We celebrate Aretha's health and her weight loss; however, we think it may be a bit more than 25 pounds.  And however she lost the weight (e.g. lap band, gastric bypass) she should be proud of herself for taking charge of her situation.  It's really none of our business, but of course we will let you know if we hear anything.

And in today's foolywang...

Waka Flocka is proud to announce that he just spent $100,000 on a Fozzie Bear Muppet chain.

The PETA spokesman, who got his nickname from Fozzie Bear's "wocka wocka wocka" phrase, recently debuted the chain on a photo posted to TMZ

SMH...

I hope this is from his "play" money account and there are several others dedicated to savings and investments.

BIRTHDAY FAB: "King Of Bling" Birdman Celebrates At "King Of Diamonds" Strip Club With Lil' Wayne And Floyd Mayweather

Posted: 01 Mar 2011 01:30 PM PST

Birdman, who helped usher in the "bling bling" craze with the rest of the Cash Money crew, celebrated his 42nd birthday at the King Of Diamonds strip club in Miami.  We have pics of Lil' Wayne and Floyd Mayweather inside where the dollars were flying...

From the direction they seem to be aiming those singles...I can only imagine what got cut out of this photo.

Floyd Mayweather was there.

Lil' Wayne, Mack Maine and Birdman look like they are having a blast.

Was Weezy sipping on water in honor of his probation?!

DJ Khaled was in the building.

I see a lot of "bills" got paid that night.

Notice how everyone has a smile on their face.  Strip clubs really bring out the inner joy in a person.

Steve Harvey Sends Mary Harvey A Box Of Chocolates...With A Gag Order Inside + Ne-Yo And Trey Songz To Collaborate!?

Posted: 01 Mar 2011 09:28 AM PST

The "King of Comedy" Steve Harvey still has jokes for Mary Harvey.  He sent his ex-wife a box of chocolates for Valentine's day...and when she opened it she discovered a gag order "reminder" inside.

Get the deets of the Harvey gift box inside along with info on Ne-Yo and Trey Songz working together...

Mary Harvey received a box of chocolates from her ex-hubby Steve Harvey for Valentine's Day.  Cute right?  Maybe he is trying to say I'm sorry for something?

But when  Mary opened the box (complete with V-day card) she found a notice reminding her to meet him back in court on March 10th for violating their gag order.

Steve....you are so wrong for that! SMH.

In music news....

On the heels of their sold-out concert in London, we received this pic of R&B singers Ne-Yo and Trey Songz talking about a possible collaboration to appear on Ne-Yo's next project.

Because both singers seem to drive in the same lane anyway, I think them working on a couple of projects together would be great.
