Celeb Roundup: American Idol Edition

Posted: 03 Sep 2010 02:48 PM PDT

In today’s edition of Celeb Roundup we decided to check in on some American Idols. And they didn’t disappoint! We’ve got the best recent Tweets from crooners Adam Lambert (@adamlambert), Kris Allen (@Kris Allen), David Archuleta (@DavidArchie) and Kellie Pickler (@kelliepickler).

Adam got all cheeky about his fame:

Kris, we’re sure you were talking about a concert… but watch how you phrase these things:

David had some questions about origami:

And Kellie? Well, Kellie was just being Kellie:

The cast of Gossip Girl was shooting on a New York street yesterday, strutting around and hailing taxis. Leighton Meester, Taylor Momsen and Penn Badgley were all dressed to the nines — in 92-degree heat! Good thing they weren’t shooting the Christmas episode. Check them out in our gallery.

  • Jenny Humphrey: ever the brooder.
  • Leighton breezes by a crew member.
  • See? We always told you Gossip Girl wasn't real.
  • Little J hops in a cab.
  • Adorable Blair face.
  • Taylor and Penn hug... or is it Jenny and Dan hug?

Crushable Commenter of the Week: DIZZY's in the Doghouse

Okay, we get it. That fish doesn’t really look like Shrek! It’s still a cool fish though, right? I mean, and isn’t reality all subjective anyway? Like how can I know that you’re “blue” is the same color blue that I see, or that a fish that looks like Shrek to you can look like somebody else’s extended family?

Give it up for this week’s Crushable Commenter Dizzy!

LOOKS LIKE THE MOTHER-IN-LAW HAVING A SWIM ON HOLIDAY

He’ll be here all week folks. Try the veal.

New Spice Girls Musical Only Sorta About the Spice Girls

Posted: 03 Sep 2010 12:57 PM PDT

Did 9/02/10 day start a 90s-nostalgia trend? Word’s out about a brand new Spice Girls musical, set to debut in 2012. Except it turns out Viva Forever (um, long live forever?) won’t actually feature any of the singers or even mention their names. Instead, the play will be about… drumroll please… reality TV!

The Spices have all signed off on the musical, which will involve their girl-powered songs. Inspired by our fame-obsessioned culture, Viva will be set behind-the-scenes of a TV talent show. Producer Judy Craymer, the woman behind Mamma Mia, described the show as “encompassing the Spice Girls’ ethos of friendship, identity and being true to yourself.”

That leaves only one important question: Are we finally going to find out what it means to zigazag-ha?

It’s a dress… it’s a chair… it’s a dress-chair! French artist Geraldine Husson has taken the idea of comfortable clothing to its logical extreme with her collection of wearable seats. Obsessed with the relationship between art, design and architecture, Geraldine created what she describes as “objects to live in.” Take a look at our gallery of some of Geraldine’s wildest creations.

Video: Epic U.S. Open Fight

A spectator brawl broke out during last night’s U.S. Open match, leaving three people in handcuffs. The fight was so intense that player Novak Djokovic (the eventual winner of the set) abandoned his racket to watch the madness unfold. The video, shot by another spectator, doesn’t pick up any of the brawlers’ audio, but we did a little detective work. The Gloss editor Lilit Marcus‘ mom, who’s hard of hearing and an excellent lipreader, translated some of the dialogue for us — and it seems to be a battle over seating. Here’s what she made out:

“I’m in my seat.”
“Get the f*ck out of here!”
“For what?”
“Shut up.”
“He said go down there!”

And then there there’s some punching, which needs to translation. Man, who knew tennis fans could be so brutal?

Japan’s Cat Cafes – Two-dozen cats roaming the floors of a cafe? It’s not a Pixar movie, it’s Japan! At Osaka’s Cats’ Time Cafe, feline-lovers without pets of their own can come play with the coffee shop’s furry creatures. The spot charges roughly $9 for an hour of cat-petting time, with an unlimited access pass going for $16 (which includes a free drink and all the health violations you can fit in your purse.)
