‘Saturday Night Live’ Releases Amy Poehler Promo Videos

Earlier this month we learned that Saturday Night Live alum and current Parks and Recreation star Amy Poehler would be hosting the 36th season premiere of SNL this Saturday September 25. Today we get our first look at a set of promo videos released by NBC for Amy‘s upcoming SNL hosting gig this weekend:


As you can see, Amy is teamed up with her former SNL costar Andy Samberg for these funny new promos. To be honest, I have no doubt that Amy will do a fantastic job hosting SNL this weekend … after all, she’s got quite a lot of experience kicking ass on the show as a regular castmember. Britney Spears Takes Her Sons To The Mall . . . Again

Late last week we saw a few cute pics of Britney Spears and her sons Sean Preston & Jayden James enjoying a fun outing together at a mall here in SoCal. Today we get to see a few new photos of Britney and boys at the same mall … again. It used to be that once upon a time, Britney would spend all her time at Starbucks … could it be that she is now only interested in spending all her time at shopping malls?


Of course, there was also a time when Britney enjoyed visiting public restrooms … barefoot … so … I’ll take the mall, any day of the week. Curiously, it dawned on me that we have not seen our dear Britney out and about with her beau Jason Trawick since the pair returned home to SoCal from their 2 week vacay in Hawaii. HMMM … I wonder what is going on with our dear Britwick.

David Beckham Keeps His Head In The Game Amid New Cheating Rumors

The Internets were set aflame earlier today by a new report from In Touch Weekly magazine that claims that David Beckham enjoyed an extramarital affair back in 2007 with a prostitute named Irma Nici. As a result of this new rumor, Les Beckhams have announced that they will launching a law suit against In Touch for publishing this report, which they claim is untrue. Here are new photos of Becks making his way into training practice with the LA Galaxy while this nasty new rumor was going around all over today:

David Beckham will be taking legal action against a magazine in America which made defamatory claims about his private life, he announced today. The dedicated father of three, who has been married to former Spice Girl Victoria for 11 years, has vehemently denied allegations made by a prostitute named Irma Nici in the publication. A statement released by his spokesperson read: ‘The allegations that have been made are completely untrue and totally ridiculous as the magazine was clearly told before publication. Sadly we live in a world where a magazine can print lies and believe they can get away with it. We are taking legal action against the magazine.’

See … I don’t even know why magazine’s even think they can get away with this sort of thing, especially where Les Beckhams are concerned. David and Victoria Beckham will sue your ass if you make claims like this about their marriage … it just doesn’t seem wise to piss them off in this way. To be honest, I just don’t believe any of the cheating allegations where Posh and Becks are concerned. There have been years of allegations and not one of them have even been remotely true. This just sounds like more bullshizz. I suspect some day soon we’ll hear about how this story was a fabrication.

Zac Efron & Beard Leave Australia, Bound For Home

Earlier this week we saw photos of Zac Efron and his beard creepily making their grand arrival in Sydney, Australia which was only the latest stop on his Facial Hair World Tour after stops in London, Spain and France. Today we get to see photos of Zac & Beard, with Louis Vuitton duffel in hand, making his grand exit from Oz as he made his way home to the US earlier today:


While I still don’t love it, I am happy to see that Zac‘s facial hair is starting to thicken up a bit. Trust me, he is still ages away from being able to grow a real, full beard but at least the measly, scrawny thing he’s been sportin’ lately is starting to look a bit better. I guess we’ll be tracking the growth of Zac‘s beard from home from here on out. I wonder what it looks like with his shirt off? Hopefully we’ll find out.

Wyclef Jean Officially Ends His Bid For The Haitian Presidency

Last month, after the Election Board of Haiti ruled that Wyclef Jean is ineligible to run for the office of president, Wyclef vowed to fight on in his bid for the office. Just a few weeks ago he was mug-slinging his detractors in his song If I Was President hellbent on getting his way. Well, today we learn that FINALLY Wyclef Jean has decided to give up the fight and end his Haitian presidential campaign:

Hip-hop star Wyclef Jean says he no longer plans to run in Haiti’s November presidential election. The star’s decision comes a month after his candidacy was formally rejected by Haitian authorities. “After weeks of quiet but painstaking reflection with my wife and daughter, I have chosen to end my bid for the presidency of Haiti,” he said. The singer instead plans to release an album, called If I Were President: The Haitian Experience, next year. “Though my run for the presidency was cut short, I feel it was not in vain,” he said. Jean added that his was “not an easy conclusion to reach” and that it was “thoughtfully made”. The Haitian-born star was told by the electoral council that he could not run for president because he had failed strict residency requirements. The constitution requires candidates to have lived in the country for five years prior to an election. Jean now lives in the US. The singer and producer originally said he would appeal the decision, but officials said the electoral body’s ruling was definitive under Haitian law. “Some battles are best fought off the field, and that is where we take this now,” Jean said. “Our ultimate goal, in continuing the appeal, was to further the people’s opportunity to freely participate in a free and fair democratic process. In that regard, the appeal was meant to improve the electoral process for all, candidates and voters alike. It is one way that I hope to bring light to the functioning of a government that is often ranked as one of the most corrupt on the planet, resulting in a country that is by most measures the poorest in the Western world. It’s not about my candidacy, this appeal was meant to address the shortcomings of the process for every Haitian.” The presidential election was originally scheduled for earlier this year, but was delayed due to the devastating earthquake that struck the country in January.

Again, while I honestly feel that Wyclef‘s heart was originally in the right place I never for one second believed he was qualified to be the president of Haiti … or any other country, for that matter. I am just so glad that he is taking his fight elsewhere. For him to continue to make a mockery of the political system for his selfish ends was only hurting everyone else. This is great news … he should just focus on making a difference in his country outside of the political realm. Or, if he is serious about running for office, he needs to do it the right way … working from the bottom up. I’m afraid his moronic behavior has soured him in my eyes but I’m sure his fans will continue to support him in whatever musical endeavor comes next.

‘Fall’ Cometh

The Fall season may not officially begin until 11:09 PM ET / 8:09 PM PT tonight but The Fall, book 2 of The Strain Trilogy written by Guillermo Del Toro and Chuck Hogan arrived promptly at midnight September 21 in digital form on my Kindle 3:


As you may recall, I fell in crazy love last Summer (2009, that is) with The Strain by Del Toro and Hogan and have been ANXIOUSLY awaiting the second book in the series. Now, because I’m still in the middle of reading the very long yet amazingly good Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley, I cannot devote my full attention to The Fall … but I did read a few of the first pages and MAN, am I excited to just dive into this book. For those of you who aren’t aware, Del Toro (the director of Pan’s Labyrinth among other fantastic movies) and Hogan have come up with a new vampire tale that is ghastly and extremely scary … there is no romance here. Just a deadly virus that is turning people into blood-thirsty monsters. I loved every page of The Strain and I’m really chomping at the bit to start reading The Fall. So yeah … that’s what I did last night … I read.

Tonight, David and I will be meeting up with some friends who we were supposed to hang out with on Saturday in celebration of his birthday for a little dinner/drinks thing. In his world, it’s still his birthday ;)

But, as a reminder, the Autumnal Equinox arrives later on tonight … are y’all ready?

On Monday we got our first look at the official album artwork for Mariah Carey‘s upcoming new Xmas album titled Merry Christmas II You. Today we get to hear from Mimi herself in a new holiday message that she is delivering to fans … here are a few screencaps from MC‘s new holiday message to YOU:


You will note that this video features Xmas scenes that were filmed back in the mid-90′s interspersed with new footage of Mimi sitting in a chair talking to her fans … it’s a brilliant way to remind us of how amazing her first Xmas album is while she’s trying to promote her upcoming new Xmas album. There is speculation that the music used in this clip is from her new single Oh Santa … which means we may be hearing the song in full very soon. Ugh, today is only the first day of Fall and we’re already getting into the Xmas spirit. I love me some MC but Bah Humbug to jumping the gun on Xmas :(

‘American Idol’ Officially Announces Its Season 10 Judges

Last month we learned that Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler had signed on to judge the upcoming 10th season of American Idol on Fox. A couple of weeks ago, we learned that Jennifer Lopez had, too, signed on to judge the upcoming season of AI. Today, Fox made that news official when it revealed LIVE via online video stream the new judging panel for season 10 of American Idol which, very confusingly, still includes Randy Yo Dawg! Jackson:

Golden Globe-nominated actress, platinum-selling recording artist, movie producer and entrepreneur Jennifer Lopez and multiple Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter, and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Steven Tyler, the frontman of Aerosmith – the best-selling American rock band of all time – have joined AMERICAN IDOL as judges. Lopez and Tyler will join returning IDOL judge Randy Jackson for the 10th anniversary season, which premieres January 2011 on FOX. In addition, Jimmy Iovine, chairman of Interscope Geffen A&M Records, co-founder of Beats Audio and one of the world's most successful and prolific music producers, will join AMERICAN IDOL as an in-house mentor. Throughout the season, IDOL will go behind-the-scenes to feature Iovine working with and lending his expertise to the contestants as they compete to become the next American Idol. As part of Universal Music Group's long-term alliance with AMERICAN IDOL, Interscope Geffen A&M will market, promote and distribute albums globally from AMERICAN IDOL finalists and winning contestants across a broad array of retail and new media platforms. I have to say, as a non-watcher of the show, official news of this casting does nothing to make me want to start watching the show. This seems like such a mismatched group of folks … I just don’t get it. But, Fox is really counting on this casting to help revive the once hugely popular show. Nicole Richie Celebrates Her 29th Birthday With Her Boys

Yesterday I reported that Nicole Richie celebrated her 29th birthday in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico (after she celebrated her bachelorette party there over the weekend) with a few of her closest lady friends but it turns out that that was not the case. Yes, Nicole and her girls celebrated her bacheloretteness over the weekend but it turns out that Nicole flew home to SoCal to spend her birthday yesterday with her boys. Here is a cute pic of Nicole out yesterday with her beau Joel Madden and their son Sparrow James Midnight:


So while Nicole wanted to be in Cabo with her friends for her bachelorette party, it’s clear that she really wanted to be home, sweet, home with her family for her birthday. I suspect that she will be celebrating her nuptials in the very near future but for her birthday, it looks like she wanted to keep things nice, intimate and quiet. Sounds like she had a great birthday to me.

Gisele Bündchen Enjoys A Playdate In Central Park With Benjamin Rein

Yesterday we learned that new mom/supermodel Gisele Bündchen was in NYC to do a bit of work for the United Nations but today we learn that she also devoted some of her time to her baby boy Benjamin Rein. Here are a few adorable photos of mother and son playing together at a park in NYC yesterday afternoon:

Gisele Bundchen is used to turning out gorgeous photos, but recent pictures of the supermodel could be her best yet. The Brazilian beauty was captured in some candid shots yesterday as she played with her darling baby boy in the park. Gisele was spending a day at the Hudson River Park with her nine-month-old son Benjamin and some friends, and there is no doubt that she is a doting, loving mother. Gisele couldn’t keep her eyes, or her hands off of little Benjamin, as she threw him into the air, showered him with kisses and nibbled on his cute little ears. The 30-year-old pulled out all the tricks, playing with a sock puppet to keep him amused and was sure to catch every moment on her cell phone camera for posterity. Gisele was beaming with pride as she played with Benjamin, smiling and laughing with her friends. For his part, the little boy looked to be having the time of his life, laughing and giggling with his mum.

This article is so true … while Gisele has posed for countless beautiful photos in her career, the photos of her as a happy mother are by far the best yet. It doesn’t seem that long ago that little Benjamin was just a newborn … now he’s almost a kid already. We’ll be celebrating the little one’s first birthday in no time … crazy how time flies. These pics are cute, y’all … just adorable.

Paris Hilton Leaves Japan One Day After Her Arrival

Yesterday we learned that Paris Hilton flew directly to Tokyo, Japan right after she was forced to appear in open court in Las Vegas, NV to plead guilty to cocaine possession charges. You may recall that we also learned that Paris was detained for about 5 hours by Japanese immigration officials upon her arrival. Today we get to see new photos of Paris Hilton, packed bags in hand, saying Sayonara to Japan as she made her way back home to the US earlier today … about a day after she arrived in Japan:


HMMMM … now it seems to me that one of two things happened to cut Paris‘s visit to Japan so short. Either she was politely informed by the Japanese immigration officials that it would be a good idea to get the Hell out of their country OR Paris didn’t feel welcome enough to want to stay in the country. This is what she tweeted on her official Twitter profile this morning:

“About to take off. Going home now. So dissappointed to miss my fans in Asia. I promise to come back soon. I love you all! Love Paris xoxo”

In either event, Paris put on a brave face as she sauntered toward her private plane and flew home. You will note that Paris arrived in Japan with an entourage, which included her sister Nicky Hilton. You will also note that Paris left Japan earlier today all by her lonesome. Poor thing. Well, I guess very soon she’ll be our problem again … so, yeah, THANKS A LOT, JAPAN!

The LA County Probation Department Will Recommend Jail For Lindsay Lohan

Despite the fact that her probation has been revoked, despite the fact that a new warrant has been issued for her arrest and despite the fact that she may get tossed back into jail immediately after her 8:30 AM court hearing on Friday morning, Lindsay Lohan stepped out for a lavish dinner at Izaka-Ya by Katsuya here in LA last night with her younger brother and sister. Clearly, she doesn’t seem too concerned with the hot water she’s gotten herself into … which today we learn has gotten a bit hotter. The LA County Probation Department, who have been overseeing L. Lo‘s probabtion requirements since she was released from jail/rehab a few weeks ago, are recommending that Lindsay get thrown back in jail for failing 2 drug tests during her probation … a recommendation that Judge Elden Fox might agree with:

The L.A. County Probation Dept. will recommend that Judge Elden Fox throw Lindsay Lohan in jail for failing two drug tests … TMZ has learned. We broke the story … Lindsay tested positive for both cocaine and amphetamines. And this is interesting … our sources say the D.A. will not make a recommendation when Lindsay appears in court Friday AM. Lindsay could get 30 days for each failed test.

It seems odd to me that the District Attorney’s office will not make a recommendation about Lindsay‘s case but that could be because they feel no recommendation is necessary … the terms of her probation were crystal clear … she fails a drug test, she goes back to jail — no recommendation required. It is sounding more and more like Lindsay will be going back to jail very soon … the questions is … For how long? What I don’t get is how Lindsay can still continue to just go out every single day/night as if nothing were the matter. I’m telling you, if my ass was going to jail … you better believe I’d be at home crying my eyes out. But, I guess, Lindsay‘s got better things to do.

Watch: ‘Glee’ Releases A Promo Clip For Their ‘Britney Spears Episode’

Last night on Fox, Glee kicked off its second season in fine fashion but for me the highlight of the episode came at the end … when the preview trailer for next week’s much-anticipated Britney Spears Episode was shown. Here are a few screencaps from the first promo video released for next week’s episode of Glee titled Britney/Brittany:


This preview clip confirms that next week’s ep of Glee will feature the Britney Spears songs Me Against the Music, I’m A Slave 4 U, Baby … One More Time and Toxic … which thrills me to no end! And while this preview video shows no hint of Britney Spears herself, who we know will appear in the ep at least twice (HERE and HERE), it is a clip that MUST BE SEEN. Squeeeeee!! I am so excited!! I agree that next week’s ep of Glee will be the shows “biggest showstopper ever”. I cannot WAIT!! How awesome does this ep look? Woot!!
