Jesus Take The Wheel: 5 Year Old Boy Sexually Abused By Kindergarten Classmates In A Bathroom Posted: 07 Sep 2010 04:38 AM PDT What in the world would possess a bunch of kindergartners to trap a 5-year-old classmate in a bathroom, hold him down and sexually assault him? These are the questions being asked by a Queens woman after her child was allegedly accosted and abused at school. The mother of a 5-year-old Queens boy claims her son was jumped inside his elementary school and sexually assaulted by four classmates – all of them kindergartners. Mom Yenny Valero said the shocking attack occurred in the school’s bathroom just weeks before the end of the school year. “I’m very sad and disappointed,” Valero told the Daily News. “You never expect this to happen to your child, especially in school. You expect them to go to school and come back safe.” The Astoria resident filed a notice of claim on Aug. 27 – the first step in suing the city – alleging her son was assaulted, sexually abused and raped. The News is withholding the name of the boy and his school to protect his identity. Valero said their ordeal began when her son went to the bathroom on June 11. Four boys, all 6 or 7 years old, held him down, removed his pants and inserted at least one finger into his anus, according to the legal papers. The young victim, who wears ankle braces because of balance issues, suffered physical injuries and posttraumatic stress disorder, the filing states. “He’s already started with a psychologist,” said Valero’s lawyer Sean Serpe. “He’s having nightmares, gender identification issues.” The boy told his mother and her sister about the attack the next day, saying he had been bullied by the students in the past. “I couldn’t believe this was happening to my son,” said Valero, 30. “I thought I was living a nightmare.” The mother called 311, which put her in touch with the city’s Administration for Children’s Services and an NYPD special victims squad detective, who investigated the alleged assault. Because her son only had one week left of class, she kept him out of school, but said she spoke to the assistant principal on June 16 about the incident. “They said they didn’t know anything about it and that they would investigate,” Valero said. She said she still has not heard from the city Education Department about the outcome of the investigation, but the four alleged attackers were allowed to attend kindergarten graduation. “They said they couldn’t suspend anyone because the investigation wasn’t over,” Valero. Her son didn’t attend the graduation and has since gotten a safety transfer to another school. According to police sources, detectives investigated the incident, but the criminal case was closed because of the young ages of the students. The Education Department declined to comment. Elizabeth Thomas, a spokeswoman for the city Law Department, said her agency has not filed any charges in Queens Family Court against the alleged attackers. Serpe said he was shocked that none of the boys has been brought to justice. “Basically, you got four monsters out there who are getting a free pass,” Serpe said. “They haven’t even been required to receive therapy for their actions.” One expert said she did not want to downplay the seriousness of the incident but said it is unlikely that children so young would realize the the full extent of what they were doing. “It’s a horrible thing to happen to any child, but it’s not unheard of,” said Dr. Susan Sherkow, a child psychiatric expert and instructor at the child and adolescent division of the New York Psychoanalytic Society & Institute. “Why would they pick on him? They may see him as vulnerable,” Sherkow said. “They may know that they’re doing something humiliating, but typically they wouldn’t really understand it as criminal intent, as sexual assault in the way adults do.” “Monsters” is a strong word to use for kindergartners. Rodney King, also known as the man who caught a major LAPD beatdown is about to get married to the woman who helped him become a millionaire. Rodney King, the victim of a 1991 beating by Los Angeles police that sparked race riots, is marrying one of the jurors who awarded him a multi-million dollar settlement. King, 44, recently proposed to Cynthia Kelley – juror number five – who pushed to award King a $3.8 million payout in a civil case against the city of Los Angeles. “She is a godsend, a blessing in my life,” King told RadarOnline.com. “I don’t know what I would have done without her in my life… I can’t wait to make her my wife!” Nineteen years ago, King was chased by police through the San Fernando Valley and was captured on videotape being beaten by four white officers. Arizona Woman Is Second In A Week To Fall Victim To Acid Attack Posted: 06 Sep 2010 03:00 PM PDT SMH. This ish is just crazy! Another woman is the victim of acid burns after an incident this weekend. According to a local CBS station, 41 year old Derri Velarde, of Mesa, Arizona, was attacked on Friday, around 1 p.m, when an unknown woman jumped out from hiding behind a carport near Valarde’s parking space, at the Vista Grove apartments near Southern Avenue and Val Vista Drive, threw acid in her face and on her chest, then ran away. Ms. Valarde suffered 2nd degree burns over her face and chest. Police are looking for a Hispanic woman between the age of 30 and 40, and say they do not believe this was a random attack,stated the report. Her son, David Diaz, reportedly said there was a special place in hell for the person who did this to his mom, adding,”I don’t know what could go through a person’s head to do something like that…it’s disgusting and wrong.” Ms. Velarde is being treated at a local hospital and police believe that the liquid thrown in the victim’s face wa some type of battery acid, CBS reported. Earlier this week, a Vancouver woman was also attacked with acid. 28 year old Bethany Storro suffered second and third degree burns on her face, when an unknown black woman threw the dangerous chemical in her face and ran away. Police have released a sketch of the suspect, and are actively pursuing that case. What is wrong with people???? Source

A “Lil Positivity”… Detroit Neighborhood Helps In Arrest Of Suspects In Rape Of 90-Year-Old Woman Posted: 06 Sep 2010 02:23 PM PDT With unemployment at some of the highest levels in the country and the city still marred by the conduct of its shady azz former Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, it’s great to have some positive news to spread about the city of Detroit. Members of a community group, formed after the rape of a 90-year-old woman, vow to keep pressure on crack dealers, carjackers and other criminals in their neighborhood. After the Aug. 12 sexual assault, some 300 residents and community activists patrolled the streets of the west side neighborhood where the rape occurred. They went door-to-door, asking people to share information about the crime. Detroit Police Chief Ralph Godbee said their efforts were instrumental in helping arrest three suspects. Anthony Hardy, 18, and Maurice Randall, 17, have been charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct and home invasion in connection with the assault. Randall’s 15-year-old brother was charged as a juvenile with home invasion. Godbee said a citizen’s tip led to the arrests. “I can’t stress how important the community was in helping apprehend these men,” Godbee said. The organizers of the effort have formed Detroit 300, a group that will conduct regular patrols throughout the city, said community activist Malik Shabazz. The group plans to demonstrate Saturday in front of a suspected crack house. “This has been a long time coming,” Shabazz said. “I’m proud to be a part of it. To anyone involved in drug dealing, carjacking, raping, I want to say to you: Hit the road, Jack. These are our streets.” The group, named for the 300 residents who patrolled looking for the rapist, will coordinate its efforts with the Police Department, said activist Raphael B. Johnson. “We’re working on a manual which will be ready next week, called, ‘How to survive and take back your neighborhood,’ ” Johnson said. “When we were out patrolling, we weren’t just looking for the rapist — we took pictures and video of men stripping cars, and selling crack. And we’re going to keep on doing it.” Godbee called the effort a “policing utopia,” adding that citizen involvement is crucial to effective law enforcement. Nimrod Sherman, grandson of the rape victim, said he was proud of those who helped. “It’s been a rough ride the last few weeks,” he said. “But in the face of something so depraved, to come back with the energy we came back with — well, it was something to see. It can’t be all bad; some good has to come out of this. And it did.” SMH. What the hell were those kids thinking??? It’s a shame it took that horrific of a crime to get the neighborhood to band together, but we’re glad they did! More communities need to start doing the same thing. Chicago? New Orleans?
