Plaxico Burress Discusses Life Behind Bars And A 2011 Comeback

Posted: 19 Sep 2010 08:31 AM PDT

Former NY Giants Super Bowl hero Plaxico Burress recently sat down behind bars to talk about the unfortunate incident that cost him his NFL career and put him behind bars for two years.

Read some of the highlights and watch a video of Burress discussing his situation when you go inside…

Back in November '08, Plaxico Burress went to a Manhattan nightclub called the Latin Quarter with an unlicensed gun tucked inside sweatpants. Burress says he was carrying the gun for his own protection when suddenly the gun went off, and a bullet went into his thigh. The public outcry behind the event was nothing nice as NY state has some of the most stiff gun laws in the country. Burress plead guilty to a felony gun possession charge and was sentenced to two years in jail.

And he just did an interview with the the NY Daily News about life behind bars...and a possible comeback:

On his three-year-old son asking him why he doesn’t play football anymore –

"What do I tell him? How am I supposed to answer those questions? You can't go any lower than being here, other than being in the ground. It's about as tough as it gets, on a personal level. You learn a lot about yourself. You try to think about the bigger picture, about life outside these walls. You just try to find a way to get through."

On his incarceration costing him four years and a possible $27 million on his Giants contract -

"You can't change history, no matter what you try to do, I didn't do anything to anybody. I did it to myself. I committed a crime. I broke the law. That's why I'm here. I can't do anything about it, so you have to try to change your outlook, think about positive things. If I'm so intent on going back to that moment, then I'm not making any progress. I'm not moving forward."

On re-entering the NFL for the 2011 season –

"I'm not just going to come back and play. I'm going to come back and play at a high level, Nobody is going to be more dedicated than me to getting back to a championship. I feel like I let a lot of kids down (because of what happened). It's something I can't erase. All I can do is get back to the football field and play at a high level. That's the only way I can redeem myself, so to speak."

Kanye West Releases New Music "Lord, Lord, Lord" + Charles Barkley Admits To Taking Money In College

Posted: 18 Sep 2010 10:54 AM PDT

As promised, Kanye West has delivered another track to garner anticipation for his new album. Plus Charles Barkley has admitted to taking money from agents while in college. Read on to hear Kanye's new track and Barkley's open admission...

Yeezy has teamed up with Hip-Hop titans Mos Def, Raekwon, Swizz Beatz, and the legendary Charlie Wilson for his new track "Lord, Lord, Lord." Check out the new song.

We feelin' it?

In light of the Reggie Bush Heisman controversy, former NBA player turned sports analyst, Charles Barkley, has come out in his defense. He didn't actually say that he took the money and kept it, he just said that he borrowed some money and paid it back when he got to the NBA.

"I got money from agents when I was in college," Barkley said. "Most of the players I know borrow money from agents."

Barkley described the money he received as "chump change," but explained that this practice has been going on for a very long time.

"Let me tell you something, these agents are well known, and they've been giving kids money for 30 years, and I have no problem with it. Borrowing money from an agent ain't the same as a college paying you."

Charles makes a good point. College athletes generate millions for their schools.  And The NCAA brings in just as much money as a professional league and players may deserve to get paid, in ways offered other than scholarships. Too bad this lesson cost Reggie his Heisman and the University of Southern California a chance to win a Heisman again.

Speak on it.

ELLE Magazine Responds To Gabby Sidibe's Cover Controversy: "The Lighting Is Different"

Posted: 18 Sep 2010 09:44 AM PDT

There has been much controversy lately over the alleged "lightening" up of Gabby Sidibe's face/cover for ELLE Magazine.  In the magazine's defense, the Editor-in-Chief, Robbie Myers, gave the E! network an explanation.

More deets and Gabby's comparison pic when you read on.

<!--break-->

ELLE Magazine's editor-in-chief told E! there is no controversy regarding Gabby Sidibe's cover photo.  Myers says Gabby appears brighter/lighter because there's a different style of lighting used which obviously makes her look different when compared to a red carpet photo.

The magazine's publicist put out a statement saying:

"We have four separate covers this month and Gabby's cover was not retouched any more or less than the others. We had 25 cover-worthy subjects in our portfolio and we chose Gabby because of who she is. We shot this as a story of exuberant young women changing the world. If you take a look at the portfolio, each of the women were shot in different ways and for different reasons."

But the controversey doesn't end there, people are also complaining that ELLE should explain cropping Gabby at her chest, while other cover images featuring ladies like Megan Fox and Lauren Conrad were full-length.

Hmmm.  Your thoughts?
