MUSIC FAB: Kelly Rowland's "Rose Colored Glasses" Video + B.O.B. To Perform For Obama + Lil Boosie Talks About His Murder Charge

Posted: 15 Sep 2010 08:55 AM PDT

Kelly Rowland just released the video for her latest single "Rose Colored Glasses" and we have it for you.  When you go inside, see the video plus find out which rapper is performing for Obama and what Lil Boosie says about his murder charge...

Check Miss Kelly's new video:

Do you like it?

Rapper B.o.B. has been asked to perform for the 44th President of the U.S. Barack Obama at the Gen44 Summit on September 30th.  B.o.B. talks about the honor in an interview here.

Incarcerated rapper Lil Boosie is talking about his upcoming album Incarcerated, and his recent murder charge.  Lil Boosie aka Torrence Hatch, was sentenced to prison after police arrested him in October 2008 after finding marijuana and a gun in his vehicle.  Then in June of 2010, as he was serving his sentence for the guns and drugs, the district attorney's office indicted Lil Boosie on 1st degree murder charges, for allegedly hiring gunmen to shoot and kill a 35-year-old Baton Rogue man named Terry Boyd in December of 2009.

Believe it or not, Lil Boosie says the charges are the result of a conspiracy against Hip-Hop music.

He says,

“I’m innocent; I’m completely innocent.  My situation is one that is unjust, unfair and based on an attack against hip-hop and rap as a whole.”

His album Incarcerated will feature new tracks that Boosie recorded in November of 2009.

The first single is titled "Turn Tha Beat Up" and funds from the projects will go to the legal defense fund for Boosie and the other men that have been indicted.

RUN IT: Alicia Keys VS. Letoya Luckett VS. Vanessa Simmons

Posted: 15 Sep 2010 08:22 AM PDT

It's a 3-way face-off.  Decide which of the ladies ran this gray Nicole Miller jumpsuit best when you read on...

<!--break-->

Looks like everybody loves a little bit of Nicole Miller.  Alicia Keys rocked her gray extra fitted, zip front, and cap-sleeved jumpsuit with big silver hoops and snakeskin pumps.

Letoya Luckett rocked the exact same jumpsuit to the BET Awards, unzipped just enough to tease, and paired it with a white Balenciaga bag and studded peep toe pumps.

Then Vanessa Simmons just rocked the same jumpsuit on Friday at Nicole Miller's Fashion's Night Out event.  She paired it with brown shoes, lots of jewelry, and her purse.

So...

WHO RAN IT?!

CANDIDS: Meagan Good, Tyra Banks, & Solange

The YBF Chicks were out and about last night.  Pics of Megaan Good, Tyra Banks, and Solange when you read on...

<!--break-->

Meagan made her usual appearance on the L.A. club scene last night.  She hit up in a slightly different look than her usual.  Hate that she still looks this pretty even in a baseball cap and minimal makeup...

Solange was spotted leaving Lavo in NYC last night.  Such a cute look for her.

And Tyra Banks and a friend were spotted driving around last night in LA:

Yeah we see you Ty Ty...

And Nicole Murphy and her fiance Michael Strahan strolled Madison Ave. in NYC yesterday:

Looking laid back and comfy.

Mel B Sued By Former Investors + Jennifer Lopez Snags $12 Million Spot On "American Idol"

Posted: 15 Sep 2010 06:57 AM PDT

With a new reality show debuting soon, this should be a great time for Mel B. Unfortunately, she is being sued by former investors who says she backed out on various ventures with them leaving them on the hook for $500,000.  Read more about Mel B's lawsuit plus find out how much Jennifer Lopez will earn as a judge on "American Idol" when you go inside...

<!--break-->

BMEDIA filed a lawsuit today against Mel B, her husband Stephen Belafonte, and their business partners for fraud and breach of contract.

 BMEDIA claims they struck a deal in 2008 to invest in upcoming Mel B projects to the tune of $500,000. In the suit, BMEDIA claims team Mel B bailed on their deal and instead went on to perform  in "Peep Show" at Planet Hollywood Las Vegas and make her "Totally Fit: Mel B" exercise video.

BMEDIA wants its $500,000 investment back plus interest AND the 12.5% cut it says it was promised in the original deal.

Mel B has yet to respond to the lawsuit.  I can only hope she wisely invested her Spice Girl millions, because she should be a very wealthy woman.  Plus the child support from Eddie Murphy must be nice too.  Still....no one wants to come up off $500,000 if they don't have to.

Jennifer Lopez has landed a $12 million seat as a judge on "American Idol."   Though $12 million is more than most of us will ever see, it's actually $3 million less than what she asked for.  But Lopez did walk away with an overall deal with FOX to keep her movie career going. Guess her next romantic comedy will be a "Made-For-TV" movie.

SPORTS DRAMA: NBA Baller Doesn't Want Beef With Floyd Mayweather

Posted: 15 Sep 2010 06:28 AM PDT

NBA player C.J. Watson is now involved with the drama between boxer Floyd Mayweather and his baby momma. Find out why when you read on...

<!--break-->

Remember when Pretty Boy Floyd had the police come to his house to investigate a claim for domestic abuse? New reports are saying that Floyd read text messages on his ex Josie Harris' phone and questioned her about it. The text messages were from Chicago Bulls guard C.J. Watson, and Josie claimed that she was seeing him.

Floyd apparently lost it after that which resulted in the domestic abuse claim and he even took her Iphone, which counts as grand larceny.

Here's the strange part. Watson claims he has NEVER been involved romantically with Josie. Watson's father also denies their relationship saying,

"I know for sure that Josie is not his girlfriend … she did some event planning for C.J., but other than that, they have no relationship whatsoever. C.J. would never do anything like that to Mayweather [Jr.] … he doesn’t need that."

Floyd should have learned from certain other celebs' situation to NEVER go through someone's phone. I'm not sure who to believe in this story.

Trey Songz Dishes It Up At Atlanta Album Release Party

Posted: 15 Sep 2010 05:38 AM PDT

Trey Songz celebrated the Target's exclusive release of the Deluxe Edition of his new album Passion Pain & Pleasure.  We've got pics and our short chit chat with the man of the hour at his Atlanta event last night when you read on....

<!--break-->

T.I.--who currently can't leave the state of Georgia thanks to his most recent legal woes--came out to support his homie.  And if you're wondering what this new deluxe album of Trey's is all about:

Target announced it will be the exclusive retailer of a deluxe version of Trey Songz’ much anticipated album, Passion, Pain & Pleasure. The album will contain four exclusive live tracks and 30 minutes of video content that features six songs recorded during a live performance. The special compilation will be available at Target stores nationwide and Target.com on Tuesday, September 14.

The regular album will be available everywhere of course.  Our YBF ATL correspondent Ms. Dia had the chance to catch up with Trey and find out how he's matured with his new project:

YBF: They say Art imitates life & you've been able to crossover to a much more Mature audience w/this project...Is that saying that Trey Songz is getting his "Grown Man" on these days?

Trey: I was forced to grow up quicker than most people, so it's allowed me to take a more mature approach with my music. Even if you go back to my 1st album, it was mature for my age.

That kiss w/Toni Braxton probably had something to do with it too.

(Laughing) - Yeah, that probably helped too.

Now let me ask you about the "GO TO" songs on the album for the following scenarios...

We've been grinding for a LONG time w/whatever it is we're passionate about & something happens that lets us know that "Our time is Coming" and we want to celebrate.  What song do we go to?

"Bottoms Up".

My Man just pissed me off! Which song to go to?

Did you do something or he did it?

He did...Of course.

"Unfortunate".

I'm over it now & want to make up w/him...Which one now?

"Made To Be Together".

Interesting picks.  Trey aso let us know that he feels this is his absolute best album to date as it is personal and sums up his life.

More pics from the event:

Jazze Pha and artist Vaughn (far right) came through.

And former baller Jalen Rose came out.  Fun times.

SPORTS NEWS: Reggie Bush Hands Over His Heisman!

Posted: 14 Sep 2010 03:17 PM PDT

Reggie Bush just made history today.  But not in a good way.  News on him becoming the first person in history to give back his Heisman Trophy when you read on....

<!--break-->

All the drama surrounding USC and their breaking of the rules as it relates to recruitment efforts in 2005 has come to a head.  Former USC star and New Orleans Saints baller Reggie Bush just handed over his Heisman Trophy he received in 2005. It was determined that he had received "unproper benefits" while at USC.

He's the first player in history to do so.  There's no word yet if the Heisman Trust committee will hand over the trophy to the second runner up--now Tennessee Titan Vince Young--or just vacate the trophy for that year all together.

In his statement released today, he said:

“One of the greatest honors of my life was winning the Heisman Trophy in 2005. For me, it was a dream come true. But I know that the Heisman is not mine alone. Far from it. I know that my victory was made possible by the discipline and hard work of my teammates, the steady guidance of my coaches, the inspiration of the fans, and the unconditional love of my family and friends. And I know that any young man fortunate enough to win the Heisman enters into a family of sorts. Each individual carries the legacy of the award and each one is entrusted with its good name.

It is for these reasons that I have made the difficult decision to forfeit my title as Heisman winner of 2005. The persistent media speculation regarding allegations dating back to my years at USC has been both painful and distracting. In no way should the storm around these allegations reflect in any way on the dignity of this award, nor on any other institutions or individuals. Nor should it distract from outstanding performances and hard-earned achievements either in the past, present or future.

For the rest of my days, I will continue to strive to demonstrate through my actions and words that I was deserving of the confidence placed in me by the Heisman Trophy Trust. I would like to begin in this effort by turning a negative situation into a positive one by working with the Trustees to establish an educational program which will assist student-athletes and their families avoid some of the mistakes that I made. I am determined to view this event as an opportunity to help others and to advance the values and mission of the Heisman Trophy Trust.

I will forever appreciate the honor bestowed upon me as a winner of the Heisman. While this decision is heart-breaking, I find solace in knowing that the award was made possible by the support and love of so many. Those are gifts that can never be taken away.”

And he just Tweeted:

"Now that this is behind me I look forward to the future and winning more awards and championships here in New Orleans! Who Dat!"

Damn homie.

FRONT ROW FAB: YBF Celebs Keep The Fashion Week Party Goin'...

Posted: 14 Sep 2010 01:08 PM PDT

Celebs continue to hit the front rows of the NY Fashion Week shows as the second half of fashion week continues.  Besties Lala and Kelly Rowland made front row appearances at Badgley Mischka today with "NY Housewife" Kelly Bensimon.

We've got pics of them and Ciara, Dawn Richard, Gabby Union, and more when you read on....

<!--break-->

Interesting dress for La.

Lovely dress for Kelly.

And Gabby showed off her cute flapper inspired dress on the front row of BM as well.

Ciara worked it out with Betsy Johnson backstage and front row at her show.

I see some folks are just no holds barred this week.  Dawn was spotted backstage at Edwing D'Angelo Spring 2011 at the Waldorf Astoria yeterday.  She actually was IN the show.

Nicole Murphy and her friend Stacy from "The Apprentice" was also there for the same show.

And so was her model daughter Bria Murphy.  Here she is with designer Edwing D'Angelo.

Miss Jay hit the Marc Jacobs show yesterday.

Goodness.  There is so much going on here "Joe Exclusive".  The "stylist" hit the Marco Hall show at Inc. Lounge.

Over at the official Fashion Week scene, Estelle hit the front row of the Alexandre Herchcovitch show.

While Andre Leon Talley did both the Donna Karen and DVF shows.  Bored much?

Sports players are getting in on the mix even more this year.

Detroit Pistons baller Ben Gordon and his fab girlfriend hit the Perry Ellis show yesterday.

YBF designer Tracy Reese presented her line yesterday and Veronica Webb came out to support.

Can't decide if I'm feeling this dress or not.  Maybe it's the shoes throwing it off.

Great look for Dania Ramirez at Tracy Reese.

Angela Simmons and Aisha Tyler also hit up Tracy Reese.

Fashion week is in full force....

Critics And Fans Unimpressed By Host Chelsea Handler's Off-Color Racial Humor

Posted: 14 Sep 2010 12:04 PM PDT

People are talking...and they are not saying great things about Chelsea Handler's hosting skills and her off-color racial humor (which seems to center on making fun of black rappers). See what people are saying when you go inside...

<!--break-->

If you watch Chelsea's show on E!, you already know that she loves rappers and they love her. And she does really funny interviews.  But the MTV VMAs started out with her walking down the hall and being "sexually harassed" by a bunch of black men (mainly rappers) who all wished her well about hosting the show, before smacking her butt.  This bit would have worked on her show.....but many found it uncomfortable.

Then after her lackluster monolouge, she "summoned" Rick Ross to whisk her away from the stage...and of course she straddled him.  And again, I'm uncomfortable.  And I wasn't the only one unimpressed.

The New York Times said of Handler:

"She was among the worst in the show's history — purposefully out-of-touch, with brief, alarming flashes of off-color racial humor. On her talk show, “Chelsea Lately,” in a smaller setting, her interviews with musicians, rappers in particular, are consistently hilarious and inappropriate. Here, she never looked comfortable, undone by nerves, brittle material and the wattage of those around her."

The Washington Post said:

"...comedian Chelsea Handler declared in her opening monologue, a string of flat punch lines that felt a few degrees below crass. Sample zinger: “It’s time to acknowledge the big black elephant in the room. Where’s Kanye?” Ugh.

Entertainment Weekly was also unimpressed:

"As the live portion of the show began, Handler turned in a moderately funny Gaga sendup, appearing amid red-lycra-clad dancers wearing a dollhouse on her head. Though, again, it felt a little like Host the VMAs Paint-by-Numbers — Gaga’s both the easiest and the lamest (not to mention the most willing) target around. Her monologue then brought us typical crowd-pleasers like drinking and drug references like, “That’s the last time I do a prayer circle with Snoop Dogg.” There were herpes digs at the cast of the Jersey Shore, and a mention of “that series of duets released by that Russian woman featuring Mel Gibson — those were cute.” The obligatory Kanye nod — calling him “the big black elephant in the room” — was equally edgy-but-boring. There was even use of the word “vagina” for good measure (as in, “imagine how good [Justin Bieber's] music will be when he sees a vagina”)."

AOL TV said:

"Handler was giddy and game for a good time throughout the night, but most of her skits fell flat: She jumped in the hot tub with the 'Jersey Shore' cast (heels and all) and exited with a tired joke in the form of a faux baby bump. She addressed last year's West-Swift debacle by warning off stage crashers with a stupid self-defense demonstration. She filmed a running skit with Ke$ha about a VMA meet and greet. And she made an unfortunate joke about riding home on the face of the hot werewolf from 'True Blood.' "

I absolutely love Chelsea's TV show, so I expected a lot from her.  I actually didn't think she was absolutely horrible, but I see where folks expected more.  People have to realize different networks (even though it's all Viacom), wider audiences, and different time slots allow for different standards.  So she possibly couldn't be her usual self due to restrictions.  Even though she did manage to slide in some eye brow raisers.

She did seem a bit tipsy during the opening.  But hey...that's Chelsea.  And this is MTV.

Your thoughts?

EXCLUSIVE: Gabrielle Union Joins The Fashion World...& Readies Her Own Clothing Line!

Posted: 14 Sep 2010 10:07 AM PDT

The world of celebrity clothing lines is far from coming to an end.  Gabrielle Union spilled the tea exclusively to TheYBF.com about her brand new fashion venture.  Read on for the deets...

<!--break-->

Gabby Union is dipping into the fashion world.  And at Sunday's Montblanc John Lennon pen launch event in NYC, she let it slip that her newest project is nearing completion.  She's readying her own clothing line, tentatively titled "Love & Blessings by Gabrielle."

"It's not completely solidified yet so I shouldn't really be talking about it.  But it's been 4 years in the making."

But we still managed to squeeze out her inspiration behind the line.  The "FlashForward" actress tells YBF:

"My sister is very full figured.  And she's constantly telling me how going out is so hard.  Mainly because it is so difficult to find clothes that look great for her size.  'Everyday' black women don't have much to choose from when looking for designers who will fit their bodies. So I want to make clothes for women at any and all sizes that look absolutely great on them."

Gabby, who admittedly loves shopping at Target for some of her clothes, says her goal is to make amazing clothes for as many sizes as possibe.  And will keep it all at a great price point.  She tells us she's currently putting the icing on the cake for the line.  And she's hoping to go the HSN/QVC route to sell it.

Sounds like Ms. Union is ready to give folks something new in her life to talk about.  And we always praise a YBF owned side hustle.  Will you be buying?
