| Vivienne Westwood calls out Duchess Kate’s raccoon makeup Posted: 08 Aug 2011 09:00 AM PDT Some designers have been pissed at Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, for a while. Soon after Will and Kate got engaged, there was some muttering and bitching about her Issa-centric "Sloan" style - the subtext of which was that Kate needed to broaden her style horizons, stop with the clingy, low-cut silk jersey dresses and find a style that was both youthful and classic. British wackadoodle and beloved designer Vivienne Westwood was one of those critics of Kate. Back in February, she said in an interview that she was waiting to dress Kate because…“I have to wait until [Kate] kind of catches up a bit somewhere with style.” Westwood's newest criticism? The problem that we've discussed her excessively: The Raccoon McWaity Problem. It's the eyeliner, for the love of God!
[From Telegraph] In case you think that Westwood is just bitching about Kate, she's not - go here to read the piece in The Telegraph, where Westwood also bitches about Kate Moss and John Galliano. As for Kate's Raccon McWaity Problem… well, I think it's her "thing" at this point. Much like Diana and her beloved BLUE eyeliner (which she didn't wear as consistently as Kate wears her raccoon-style). Perhaps Kate is trying to make the heavy makeup for daywear into her signature. Perhaps no one has ever told her to tone it down. But I know that she would be a lot prettier if she stopped overdoing it - she has beautiful eyes, but no one can even see them with all of that crap she puts on. The night photos - of just Tom and Katie - are from last night, where Tom took his girl to a Katy Perry concert, like every 50-year-old husband does…? Girl, get it together! KATY PERRY?!? I don't know which one to mock more, Katie or Tom. At best, Katie loves Katy Perry, and Katie chose this concert as their date night, and Tom was just making his girl happy. At worst, Tom was like, "Gurl, we need to see Katy shake that ass!" and Katie sighed and asked for another credit card. Should we even talk about Katie's concert ensemble? That outfit is like dong repellent. Tom is all, "Bitch, I wasn't even going near it anyway!" Also: Katie just looks high as hell whenever she's around Tom these days. Does she have it on a schedule? Like, "Take Quaaludes at 8 p.m., Concert with Tom, 9 p.m." Oh, and Connor is with them! Dude. Before the concert, on Saturday, Katie had an outing with Suri and Suri's little doll. I love the look of concentration on Suri's face, like she's two seconds away from bitching out the paparazzi for photographing her doll. "PRIVACY!" Suri would yell. As for Katie's ensemble here… well, it's not good. I thought Katie's style was finally improving after she began making some pretty good choices in jeans and styling. But she's relapsed! | Does Peaches Geldof, age 22, want to marry for the second time? Posted: 08 Aug 2011 08:14 AM PDT Quite recently, British socialite and “accomplished journalist” Peaches Geldof has certainly changed her physical appearance by looking super skinny. By extension (and faulty logic), Peaches has also claimed that she’s simultaneously altered her own inner life dramatically since hooking up with her latest boyfriend, musician Thomas Cohen. Of course, Peaches has only been dating this guy since January, and it really hasn’t been that long since her first and second heroin scandals, one of which cost her a very lucrative Ultimo lingerie gig. Even if Peaches really has changed a few of her ways since meeting Cohen, she’s still a mess who occasionally makes a grand display of stumbling out of bars: So I don’t really buy that Peaches has suddenly transformed herself, stays in most nights, and has experienced a grand awakening over her place in the universe. It’s not like she’s taken a few years off from her wild lifestyle, attended and graduated from college without incident, and then made this same declaration. Nope, she’s just making this decision based upon a few months of dating her latest man, and it fits her usual pattern of impulsive behavior. Despite Peaches’ young age of 22 years, she’s already been around the block a few times. At age 19, she famously married indie rocker Max Drummey in Vegas. Their split inevitably arrived six months into the marriage after she told Hello! magazine that Max was “the one” because they were both so intelligent and could sit and his van in talk or something. For what’s it worth, her estranged husband finally filed for divorce (hilariously citing “irreconcilable differences”) in April of this year. This is great timing for Peaches! Now she reportedly wants to marry Cohen because he’s “the one.” Really.
[From Contact Music] Of course Peaches loves Jewish men. I mean, she dated Eli “Bear Jew” Roth last year, but it’s really more of a case of Peaches liking all men. She’s the type that can’t ever be alone for five minutes after her last relationship ends. A bit of a serial monogamist, if you will. And every boy seems to be “the one” for her. Needless to say, Peaches has a history of planting engagement stories and has already done the same thing by wearing a diamond ring on the “meaningful” finger since dating Cohen. In response to this latest rumor, Peaches has taken to Twitter to deny any intention of converting to Judaism. However, she has not denied any matter of engagement but only says, “I dont need nor want to comment as I need some semblnce of privacy in order 2 function.” Yeah, she’s probably just starting rumors again and then pretenting to be all outraged after the fact. | Selena Gomez & Demi Lovato’s BFF mullet dresses: cute or tragic? Posted: 08 Aug 2011 07:46 AM PDT Despite the tabloid rumors that Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber are totally OVER, they were both at the Teen Choice Awards last night, and were reportedly loved up, like always. However, The Bieb and Selena did not pose together on the blue carpet - Selena saved that honor for her BFF Demi Lovato. Dear God, I've never noticed how much these two girls look alike. They could be sisters! And even though I have some not-so-generous thoughts about both of them, I'm buying that their friendship is genuine. They truly look giddy and sweet together, and I wish them well. As for the fashion - both chose short cocktail dress with mullet-like trains. Both dresses look kind of budget, in my opinion, but I think Demi looks better in general. Demi is wearing BCBG - it fits and it flatters, mostly. The mullet part is kind of fug, but it's occasion appropriate and she looks healthy. As for Selena - she wore Erin Fetherston. Doesn't this look tacky and budget? It looks like a pageant evening gown that Selena repurposed, chopped up and threw on. She looks like a 15-year-old going to her junior prom in a borrowed dress. Bad, bad, bad. | Twilight & Vampire Diaries casts at Teen Choice Awards: hot overall Posted: 08 Aug 2011 07:38 AM PDT
First off we have Twilight’s Nikki Reed in an Etro maxi dress with a Ferragamo clutch. I love her loose hair with the braid around the hairline, her soft makeup and her complimentary accessories, if it’s possible to compliment that dress at all. The gold cuff is awesome. That dress looks like a tablecloth and would be out of place at a dressy Sunday brunch. It’s not a cute look for her. She’s gorgeous and could rock so many different styles so this is a shame. Next is Nikki’s beady-eyed narcissist co-star, Kellan Lutz, looking like a substitute teacher who will kick your ass after school for looking at him funny. Lutz paired a button down shirt and tie with a cardigan, jeans and jaunty rope bracelets. He hilariously rolled his sleeves halfway up his arms and strategically left the bottom of his cardigan unbuttoned to show off his matching blue belt. Points to Lutzy for bringing his little brother Tanner along with him - and then demonstrating how he treats him at home. Also from Twilight, Ashley Greene was rather demure in a black and white Givenchy dress with Neil Lane jewelry. I love her thick strappy shoes, which would have looked out of place on a busy print dress or if she were wearing too much jewelry. The dress seems too plain and isn’t particularly flattering, which is a shame because she’s hot. I like her straight hair and her dark but not overdone makeup. Rounding out the Twilight people (R-Patts didn’t walk the blue carpet and K-Stew didn’t come, boo!) there was Taylor Lautner in an All Saints Replica Leather jacket that looked like someone balled it up wet before letting it dry in the sun. His hair looks kind of goofy to me like that, but maybe he has it in that weird cut for a role. The Vampire Diaries’ Nina Dobrev was totally adorable in a blue and white gingham Dolce & Gabbana dress with matching blue Ferragamo heels. Her look was one of my favorites. Nina’s costar and boyfriend, Ian Somerhalder, was gorgeous in a simple gray t-shirt and jeans accessorized with messy hair, scruff, open boots and his trademark smirk. Ian testified before Congress on biodiversity last week if you missed it. I just love him. Ian won for “Choice TV Actor: Fantasy/Sci-Fi.” Katerina Graham of the Vampire Diaries was overdressed and ridiculous in what I can only assume is Alexander McQueen, but that’s hard to confirm because everyone jacks the late designer’s style. It could be Stella McCartney or anyone really. The dress might have been ok without the pointy Star Trek shoulder pads and the trailing fringe. Katerina won for “Choice TV: Female Scene Stealer.” She consistently gets her style wrong. And finally we have the very lovely Paul Wesley looking a little too thin for my tastes. | Kim & Khloe Kardashian at the Teen Choice Awards: trashy, jacked or cute? Posted: 08 Aug 2011 07:06 AM PDT CB and I were debating whether we should devote a post to the Kardashian-Jenner clan, who were at last night's Teen Choice Awards. Their reality shows were up for awards, so they actually did have a reason to be there. For some reason, only Kim and Khloe stayed on the blue carpet and posed for lots of photos, though. God knows why. Khloe - my favorite - wore a Roberto Cavalli muumuu that I suspect was supposed to hide the weight that she's gained over the past six months of so. CB and I both think that Khloe is probably undergoing fertility treatments, and much like Mariah, those treatments are causing her to put on weight. Lamar seems happy with whatever is going on, and I can't help it - I like Lamar and Khloe as a couple. The muumuu is tragic, but I still think Khloe looks pretty. Her hair looks especially good - I don't even think those are extensions, right? That's her real hair, I think. As for Kim and her kat-face… I think she goes in and gets a little extra jacked for big events like this, so her face was especially smooth, unmoving and kat-like last night. | Fergie in Dolce & Gabbana at the Teen Choice Awards: improving or tragic? Posted: 08 Aug 2011 06:43 AM PDT It feels like every time I stop to look at new Fergie photos, her face is completely different. Back in March of this year, Fergie debuted her latest face, which seemed to me like she had gotten some eye work and perhaps even a face lift. Whatever it was, it was totally surgical, and not some "fillers" or light Botox or something. Josh Duhamel hilariously claimed Fergie's new look was simply the result of new lipstick. So these are new photos of Fergie at last night's Teen Choice Awards. Her face looks different - AGAIN. Although this time, I'm not sure if she got some more tweaking, or if this is her face settling in to the older tweaking. I do know that Fergie's smile looks painful. It's more of a wince than a sign of happiness. Fergie's dress is Dolce & Gabbana. It's… okay. Not my favorite, but it's fine, and her figure looks great. She's lost weight since the last time I saw her. But dear God, HER HAIR. That hair is terrible. She should look at her roots and just go darker, you know? I like it when she's a brunette. | Blake Lively in leather Gucci at the Teen Choice Awards: cute or orange disaster? Posted: 08 Aug 2011 06:17 AM PDT What is with the leather-as-summerwear trend lately? It's so hot, the last thing I would want to do is wear anything made of heavy leather. Last week, it was Kelly Brook's unfortunate high-waisted leather shorts, and now it's Blake Lively in an orange Gucci Resort 2012 dress at the Teen Choice Awards. Her hustle might be one of the best in the business, but you know the girl is sweating her ass off underneath that dress. You know it's not pretty, no matter how much powder she's using (ick, the powder probably turned into a paste when it mixed with leather-sweat). As for the color… it's kind of the same problem Cameron Diaz had in her beige dress. Camy's dress was beige and her skin was kind of orange. Here, Blake only has a light tan, but the dress is orange. Camy and Blake are both orange and beige blobs, just in different ways. That being said, I think Blake comes close to pulling off orange. I wouldn't think she could do it, but then again, why would you want to? Leonardo wasn't at the Teen Choice Awards, by the way. But before Blake powdered up to shimmy into the leather dress, she spent the day with Leo in LA. They were photographed hanging out and going to lunch - you can see the photos here. | Cameron Diaz in beige ALC at the Teen Choice Awards: fresh, jacked or bland? Posted: 08 Aug 2011 06:00 AM PDT Cameron Diaz picked up the award for "Best Comedy Actress" at last night's Teen Choice awards - the award was for Bad Teacher, which came out two seconds ago and was rated "R". So I don't know why all of the 14-year-olds voted for Camy, but that's a question for another day. Camy showed up, which she almost always does for these kid-centric awards shows, and I've always liked that about her. What I don't like? The whole ensemble. I think Camy wanted a blank slate dress which she could use for killer accessories. The problem is that the dress is so utterly boring, I don't even care about how she accessorized it. The dress is ALC, and the shoes are Burak Uyan (they are pretty great), and the clutch is Chloe. The dress is too blah and beige and my guess is that Camy thought the color would be light enough to highlight her tan. It's not. She just looks beigey-orange. As for her face… CB asked me to be nice. I will say that I used to be sure that Cameron was aging (relatively) naturally, but I don't think that's true anymore. Anyway Lacey looked more dressed for Comic-Con than a night out clubbing. She was pushed up and spilling out of a red pvc bra with a big zipper down the front featuring red bedazzled shoulder pieces and what I can only describe as boob halos. She was squeezed into some black tight pants that she paired with a garter belt worn in place of a belt. On closer examination I see that the garter features the same crystal bedazzling as her shoulder pads, but only in a lighter matching pattern. At least it’s subtle and there aren’t giant gemstones on it. I’ll say something else that sort-of positive - she had on plain black lace-up boots instead of stripper heels. But this outfit was just crying for stripper heels and I feel like she missed a real opportunity with her footwear. Overall the look was comic and the heavy-handed makeup and bright blonde hair just completed the effect. Plus she had on sparkle makeup over her spray tan. Christina Aguilera is copying this look as we speak. Isn’t she prettier as a brunette? Her fashion taste was about at the same level when she had a better hair color though.
