Spider-Man Flies High Above The Streets Of SoCal

Posted: 27 Jan 2011 05:37 PM PST

Last week we got a close-up look at the new Spider-Man costume in photos snapped on the streets of SoCal where the new reboot movie is begin filmed. Today we get to see new photos from the SoCal Spider-Man set that show the hero flying thru the air with the greatest of ease … as well as state-of-the-art stunt equipment.

Last night, the Spider-Man Reboot returned to S. Grand Ave in Los Angeles to shoot another stunt scene. During last night's shoot both Andrew Garfield (who plays Spider-Man) and a stuntman were on location taking turns filming a scene in which Spidey swings over the "New York City" traffic. In the photo above Andrew is climbing the ladder to for a shot on top of the truck while the stuntman can be seen standing next to him in the black jacket. We've heard that a small second unit may be filming at the same location again tonight too.

Click HERE to see more photos from the SoCal Spider-Man set. I suspect production of the film will move to NYC at some point because everyone knows that Spider-Man lives and works in Manhattan but, as I’ve said before, it’s really cool to have the web-slinger doing his biz here in LA for a bit. These are great photos, yeah? Still, they’re not as CUTE as THESE Spider-Man photos :)

Hahaha … this is cute. Am I totally convinced that Anne and James won’t EFF UP the entire Academy Awards this year? Nope. Do I think they’ll have fun and may end up surprising us all? Yep. I can’t wait to see how well they do … or don’t do. What do you think of this promo clip … cute, right?

Zac Efron Lunches With The Ladies

Posted: 27 Jan 2011 03:35 PM PST

A couple of weeks ago we saw photos of Zac Efron partying the night away with his friend Brittany Snow and since then we’ve spotted the lad out and about here in SoCal all by his lonesome. This week, tho, Zac met up with a group of friends for a fun lunch in West Hollywood, CA. Zac and his friends — 3 lovely lookin’ young ladies — seemed to be having a great time together.

Yes, Zac Efron’s breakup with his High School Musical co-star (and new Candie’s girl) Vanessa Hudgens must have hurt, but several gorgeous babes he held court with at a Melrose Avenue bar Wednesday seemed to be doing their best to soothe the wounds of love … The 23-year-old star looked to have no problem with the ladies as he drank beers and shots with them in the Los Angeles watering hole. Zac buzzed off his trademark shaggy ‘do last month in favor of a military-style buzz-cut for his upcoming film, The Lucky One (and after Wednesday's outing, we think the title fits Zac to a tee!).

There has been some word that Zac and Vanessa have stayed close (if you know what I mean) since their break-up last month but, yeah, I’m thinking Zac is quite happy to be close to as many ladies as possible. Don’t hate the player, hate the game … isn’t that what they say? I think it’s great that Zac is enjoying his new singlehood … it’d be a shame for his hot new look to go to waste ;)

A New Group Of ‘Charlie’s Angels’ Has Been Cast

Posted: 27 Jan 2011 02:30 PM PST

Wonder Woman isn’t the only classic TV heroine making her return to TV this FallABC is bringing back a new batch of Charlie’s Angels as well. It was reported last week that General Hospital actress Annie Ilonzeh was cast as one of the Angels and today we learn that Minka Kelly and Rachael Taylor have been cast to round out the trio of NEW Charlie’s Angels.

Minka Kelly and Rachael Taylor are putting on angel wings. The Friday Night Lights alumna and the Transformers babe have been tapped to play the remaining two titular private eyes in ABC's Charlie's Angels pilot. They join the previously cast Annie Ilonzeh (General Hospital) to form a new trio of sexy sleuths – Marisa (played by Kelly), Kate (Ilonzeh) and Abby (Taylor). Producing studio Sony Pictures TV and Drew Barrymore's Flower Films went through an exhaustive search for the three leads in this Angels series reboot. Kelly was a name the producers kept coming back to, and they are now reworking the role to tailor it to her. In the current breakdown, Marisa is described as a former U.S. Marine, a weapons expert trained in all forms of hand-to-head combat, and a neat freak. Taylor's Abby is the youngest and sassiest of the Angels. The beautiful and privileged daughter of a notorious Wall Street crook, she is an expert con artist herself, as well as a Krav Maga expert. Kelly has kept busy since leaving FNL two years ago. Most recently, she has recurred on NBC's Parenthood, which is produced by the same company as FNL, Imagine TV. She can next be seen on the big screen opposite Gossip girl Leighton Meester in the thriller The Roommate, opening February 4. Taylor, meanwhile, starts a recurring role on ABC's Grey's Anatomy next week, playing Callie's obstetrician — and a possible love interest for Karev. Smallville alums Alfred Gough and Miles Millar penned the script for the Charlie's Angels pilot and are executive-producing with Leonard Goldberg (an EP of the original series), Barrymore and Nancy Juvonen.

I guess everything that is old is new again. While I was a fan of Charlie’s Angels back in the day (R.I.P. Farrah Fawcett) it wasn’t a show that I was totally obsessed with. Like The Love Boat, One Day at a Time, What’s Happenin’, Good Times and Sanford & Son (to name but a few), Charlie’s Angels was one of those TV shows that I watched because it was on. I did enjoy the big screen versions of Charlie’s Angels so I bet I’ll enjoy this new TV series as well. I’m not too familiar with these actresses so … I guess we’ll have to wait and see how the show turns out. I suspect if this new Charlie’s Angels does well, other classic TV gems will be brought back to life as well … which, now that I think about it, seems like a really bad idea.

What do y’all think of this new batch of Charlie’s Angels? Are you impressed?

Luke Pasqualino Has Been Cast As William Adama In ‘Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome’

Posted: 27 Jan 2011 01:10 PM PST

Back in October we learned that the SyFy network is planning production of a new prequel series to Battlestar Galactica that will take place before the events of BSG but after the events of Caprica. Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome is set 10 years into the first Cylon War and is focused on the life of young William Adama (who is only a child in Caprica and grows up to be Admiral in BSG). Today we learn that former Skins actor Luke Pasqualino has been cast in the lead role as William Adama.

We’ve seen William Adama as an adult in Battlestar Galactica and as a kid in Caprica, so as soon as Syfy announced its new series BSG: Blood and Chrome, about Adama as a rookie Viper pilot during the first Cylon war, we wondered—who’s got the chops to show us yet another side of this classic character? James Hibberd of Inside TV got the exclusive that the role has gone to Luke Pasqualino, while the battle-weary officer to whom young Adama reports will be played by Ben Cotton. Pasqualino is best known for his starring role in the U.K. TV series Skins, while Cotton will be a familiar face due to his roles in such series as Hellcats, Riese, Caprica, Stargate: Atlantis and Harper’s Island. Here are the official character descriptions:

Pasqualino will star as the young, talented fighter pilot William Adama, a recent Academy graduate who finds himself assigned to the newest Battlestar in the Colonial fleet: the Galactica. Full of ambition and in pursuit of the intense action that the Cylon war promises, Adama quickly finds himself at odds with Coker (Cotton), the battle-weary officer to whom he reports. With 45 days left in his tour of duty, Coker desires an end to battle just as much as Adama craves the start of it. Though they clash at first, the two men forge an unlikely bond when a routine mission turns dangerous and becomes a pivotal one for the desperate fleet.

Brilliant, Brilliant, Brilliant! Never in my wildest dreams did I think that Pasqualino, who was EXCELLENT in the original UK version of Skins (seasons 3 and 4) would get a plum role like this. I LOVE Battlestar Galactica so much and am really looking forward to BSG: Blood & Chrome. Caprica really didn’t work for me so I’m hoping that Blood & Chrome will be more action-packed. This early casting has really got me excited for this new prequel series. For those of you unfamiliar with Luke Pasqualino, trust me … he’s good. I can’t wait to hear more casting news … this is such a great start.

Charlie Sheen Hospitalized Again [UPDATED]

Posted: 27 Jan 2011 12:30 PM PST

Charlie Sheen drama is back in the news again. No, his latest episode does not involve an escort locked in a hotel closet … this new episode involves a trip to the emergency room that hospital sources call “serious”. TMZ reports that Charlie was transported to the emergency room earlier today by ambulance right as 2 girls tried to sneak out of his home. You know, just a typical Thursday morning for Mr. Sheen.

Charlie Sheen was rushed to the hospital this morning, TMZ has learned … and a source at the hospital tells us, “It’s serious.” We’re told Charlie was taken out of his home on a stretcher and loaded into an ambulance at 7 AM. Two young women exited the house at the same time Charlie was taken out with a towel partially over his face. Charlie was transported to Cedars-Sinai Hospital in L.A. The 911 call was placed at 6:35 AM. Sources say Charlie was having severe abdominal pains which triggered the 911 call. Stan Rosenfield, Charlie’s publicist, tells TMZ Charlie was in the emergency room this morning — sleeping. We’re told Charlie’s father, Martin Sheen, and his mom, Janet Templeton, are at the hospital … Neighbors tell TMZ Charlie threw some sort of party last night. They heard women inside Charlie’s house singing Red Hot Chili Peppers songs throughout the evening. The party went on — loudly — well into the wee hours … Charlie’s medical emergency will not immediately affect production … “Two and a Half Men” is on hiatus this week.

So … does this sound like a possible overdose to anyone else? Just a guess. Considering how much Charlie Sheen gets away with no matter what he does, I am totally unsurprised that stuff like this keeps happening. I fully expect that once this latest episode blows over (in mere moments) he’ll go right back to doing whatever the Hell he pleases. I don’t believe that this reckless behavior will stop until, well, he is forced to stop one way or another. I just hope Sheen doesn’t end up another tragically sad statistic in a long line of Hollywood tragedies.

UPDATE: TMZ is now reporting that Charlie Sheen had a “briefcase of cocaine” delivered to his home yesterday before last night’s party and this morning’s visit to the hospital. I mean, sounds about right.

David Returns

Posted: 27 Jan 2011 12:19 PM PST

Yay!! David made it home safe and sound from his trip to Florida. After spending a few days with his mom, dad and sister in celebration of mother Hauslaib’s birthday, David returned home to SoCal last night.

While I’ve been enjoying my alonetime, it is very nice to have David home again. I managed to get my voice back and my throat is no longer sore … mebbe I was just feeling the ill effects from David’s absence? Whatever the case may be, I’m feelin’ great today.

Tonight, David and I are planning to trek down to Manhattan Beach to hang out with Emma so that we can finally meet her sister visiting from San Francisco. Should be fun. Happy Thursday!!

‘Glee’ Releases New Promo Videos For Season 2, Part 2

Posted: 27 Jan 2011 10:46 AM PST

Let’s forget for a second that Glee creator Ryan Murphy embarrassed himself publicly by lookin’ like a spoiled brat crybaby when he issued an outrageous F*ck You! to the Kings of Leon merely because they wouldn’t let him use one of their songs on his TV show and focus on the fact that Glee will return with all new eps starting February 6 — after the Super Bowl. Let’s check out two new promo videos that have just been released to promote the show’s return and remember, instead, why we like watching Glee in the first place.

LOL!! I can’t lie … I still really like watching the show. Despite the fact that the storyline no longer holds my attention (enough with the effing sectionals!!!), I absolutely love the musical numbers. I’m really looking forward to seeing the mash-up performance of Michael Jackson‘s Thriller with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs song Head Will Roll. Glee is still really fun to watch, especially if you can ignore all of the idiotic outside drama that surrounds it.

Ricky Martin Has An Unfortunate Run-In With A Bottle Of Bleach

Posted: 27 Jan 2011 10:29 AM PST

Ricky Martin was spotted making his way out of a rehearsal studio in Miami, FL yesterday where he was auditioning new dancers for his upcoming concert tour. As you can see in the photos below, Ricky was sporting a sassy new look complete with designer eye-wear and a stylish scarf to protect him from the harsh inclement weather of Miami. Ricky was also sporting a new hair’do that, to me, just screams hair’DON’T!

Look … the glasses and scarf I can forgive, I mean, it’s a look that the Hipsters have been pushing for the past few years. The tacky dye job, tho, is unforgivable. What the Hell was Ricky thinking? The cheetah hair’do never looks good on anyone … I can’t even believe the man is trying to rock blonde streaks in public! LOL! I hope this is just a phase cuz I don’t think I can take the man seriously if this is the image he is trying to portray. World. Of. No.

Hugh Jackman Really Loves The Snow

Posted: 27 Jan 2011 10:07 AM PST

A new snowstorm hit the Northeast part of the US last night for the 5th time this Winter, causing another round of headaches for many of the people who live and have to work in the area. BUT, not everyone dealing with the snow this time around is upset … folks like hottie Hugh Jackman seem to be reveling in the latest batch of snow.

As you can see, Hugh looked happy as can be as he made his way to the gym as the snow fell around him in NYC yesterday afternoon. Granted, the bulk of the snow had yet to fall but it looks like Hugh was having himself a grand ol’ time. I, personally, loathe the snow and count it as one of the major reasons I moved from Michigan to LA … but I’m happy to see that some people truly seem to enjoy it.

Posted: 27 Jan 2011 09:55 AM PST

Kylie Minogue updated her official Twitter profile yesterday with a cute new photo of her BFFs Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana … the design team that will be creating costumes for her upcoming Les Folies and Aphrodite Live concert tours. As some of you may be well aware, Kylie has teamed up with D&G on previous tours so this collabo bodes well for the look of her upcoming tours.

Lindsay Lohan Poses For A New Art Show Exhibit

Posted: 27 Jan 2011 09:02 AM PST

Lindsay Lohan has been keeping herself very bizzy these days staying out of trouble … but today we learn that she’s been keepin’ positively bizzy even while she was still in rehab. Lindsay took some time out of her rehab schedule last November to pose for photographer Adam Secore and some of Secore‘s photos of L. Lo are featured in a Venice, CA gallery exhibit titled Fight & Fable.

This beauty shot is pure art, baby, as part of fashion photographer Adam Secore’s Fight & Fable Show running at the Kana Manglapus Gallery in Venice, Calif., through Feb. 15. LiLo took a week off from rehab to work with the artist back in November 2010. “Shooting Lindsay was inspirational for me as an artist, she’s so beautiful,” Secore tells E! News. “I consider her a muse and a friend. This image evokes whimsy fragility and at the same time depth of character and strength. Both haunting and inspiring at the same time.”

The photos are pretty, no question, but Linds — c’mon — we need some new poses. To be honest, I’m not sure what more can be done to give L. Lo‘s photoshoots a fresh new perspective, primarily because she’s been photographed so many times over the years … we’ve already seen all of her poses, multiple times. That being said, Secore does manage to give us a bit of a softer look at Lindsay in these photos. Of the batch, I think I like the first photo the best. The blurry photos just feel a bit to art school for me but … what do y’all think? Is this an exhibit that you think you’d like to see hanging in a gallery?

New Dad Orlando Bloom Gets Back To Work

Posted: 27 Jan 2011 08:31 AM PST

On Monday we got to see a few ADORABLE photos of new dad Orlando Bloom taking his newborn baby son Flynn for a visit to a park here in SoCal. Today we learn that daddy Orlando got himself back to work on the set of a new commercial which filmed in Santa Monica, CA yesterday afternoon.

I’m not entirely sure what this commercial will be for but my guess is that Orlando is promoting Hugo Boss. As you may recall, we got our first look last month at Orlando‘s new promo ad photos for Boss Orange cologne. This commercial could be for that fragrance, for some other Hugo Boss product or maybe something else entirely. Now that Bloom has a new mouth to feed, I think it’s very wise that he keeps his head in the game and keeps makin’ the money.

Portia de Rossi Serenades Ellen DeGeneres For Her Birthday

Posted: 27 Jan 2011 08:03 AM PST

Yesterday we learned that Ellen DeGeneres turned 53 years old and today we get to see how she celebrated her birthday. For her birthday episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show yesterday, Ellen was treated to surprise guest appearances by actors Julia Roberts and Colin Farrell, of course there was a big cake and a lot of music. IMHO, the best gift she got was a birthday serenade from her wife Portia de Rossi who sang Happy Birthday in the style of Marilyn Monroe.

Despite the supercheesiness of the fan gag at the end, I think it is so cute that Portia got all dolled up to sing for Ellen on her birthday. That she decided to do so on national TV is just the icing on the cake. I’m quite certain that Ellen had herself a fantastic birthday yesterday primarily because she got to go home with the best birthday present of all … her loving wife Portia.

Will Ferrell Joins The Cast Of ‘The Office’

Posted: 27 Jan 2011 07:42 AM PST

Ever since Steve Carell announced that he would be leaving the hit NBC sitcom The Office, a frantic search has been going on to find the right person to take his place. As one of NBC‘s only successful shows, it was very important for the network to find a replacement that would not only keep the show successful but, hopefully, add to that success. It was announced yesterday that Saturday Night Live player turned movie star Will Ferrell has been hired to join the cast of The Office but not to take Carell‘s place … Ferrell will be guesting on the show to help send off Carell’s character in style.

Steve Carell will get a proper send-off from The Office later this season, sharing his final three episodes with his Anchorman costar Will Ferrell. Ferrell, 43, will join the NBC sitcom for a guest role in which he plays a branch manager who arrives from the home office and proves just as inept as Carell’s Michael Scott, Deadline.com reports. “We found Steve Carell when he was nothing but a movie star, and we turned him into a television star,” executive producer Paul Lieberstein says. “We are proud to continue The Office’s tradition of discovering famous talent, and we hope that once America gets a good look at Will, they’ll see what we see: tremendous raw sexuality.” After seven seasons as the show’s dunderheaded boss, Carell, 48, is leaving four episodes before this season’s finale. Ferrell’s guest role will include Carell’s last three episodes, plus one more after his departure. Ferrell reportedly called the producers and offered his services because he’s a fan and wanted to give Carell a proper farewell.

The only thing that would make this story even better would be news that Will Ferrell is joining the cast of The Office for good. It sounds like that won’t actually happen so, the search for Carell‘s replacement is still on. I’m not a big fan of The Office nor am I a big fan of Will Ferrell … but the pairing of the two sounds like complete genius:

It’s the sort of TV show that Ferrell would do very well on. Who knows, maybe Will‘s guest stint will grow into something more substantial. If so, The Office has a very good shot of carrying on with much success. Any Office fans in the hiz? Is this happy news?
