Jake Gyllenhaal Decides To Show His Beautiful Clean-Shaven Face

Last week we learned that our dear Jake Gyllenhaal decided to shave off his trademark beard but it appeared that he wasn’t too keen on showing off his freshly shorn face. Today we get to see new photos of shaved Jake out and about here in SoCal and, hurray, this time he was more willing to show off his face … mostly.


Yesterday afternoon, Jake accompanied a friend on a dog walk on Mulholland Drive and, as you can see, he happily showed off his face … for the most part. To be honest, I don’t prefer Jake with a beard over him without a beard … I think he looks great either way. My guess is that Jake shaved off his facial hair for a new film role or something … or, maybe he was just tired of being saddled with a beard. HMMMMM.

Movie Review: ‘The Rite’

Last night, David and I enjoyed an impromptu Date Night together so we decided to see a movie … a movie about a non-believing seminary student who gets a crash course in exorcism as a way to make him believe in God. Yes, just your usual romantic fare. We decided to see The Rite (which was David’s choice) and I have to say, the film turned out a lot better than I expected and we both had a pretty fun time watching the kinda cheesy flick.


Right off the bat, you should know that The Rite is PG … so don’t expect too much blood and gore. I went going in thinking, OH … another exorcist movie with a creepy girl getting possessed … but that was not exactly what I got. I don’t want to spoil the film but I will tell you that it doesn’t really unfold the way you think it will based on the movie trailer. I was pleasantly surprised and fairly entertained. I will tell you that the movie starts out with a guy trying to get out of his dead end life (literally) by trying to scam the Catholic Church out of a free college education without actually becoming a priest. Folks, never try to scam the church … it never ends well (as this film plainly shows). The best part, hands down, is Sir Anthony Hopkins‘s performance. He must’ve had so much fun with this movie … it’s worth seeing for him alone. This movie isn’t the best movie out there, nor is it the best horror film … nor is it the best exorcist film. But, it’s a fun time at the movies and I’m glad we saw it.

After the movies, we met up with Josh R. for drinks at O Bar to close out our night. It’s cold, cloudy and kinda rainy today here in LA. The warm sunny weather is due to return by mid-week but it looks like SoCal wants to pretend it’s Winter again, at least for a couple of days ;)

Britney Spears Is A Bridesmaid At Brett Miller’s Wedding

Earlier today we saw photos of Britney Spears and her beau Jason Trawick partying at a nightclub in Miami, FL last night. At the time, I wasn’t entirely sure why Britwick made their way to Miami in the first place. Pink reader Jadedkitten gave me the head’s up that Britney, Jason and Larry Rudolph (Britney‘s longtime manager) made their way to Miami to attend the wedding of Britney‘s BFF assistant Brett Miller to fiancée Frank Lionetti!


Brett‘s wedding reception was held at St. Bernard de Clairvaux Church in Miami, FL (where these photos were taken). My guess is that we don’t see any pics of Britney because she was most likely with Brett … possibly as a member of her wedding party! This is all very exciting. I couldn’t be happier for Brett. Let’s send all of our love and congrats to her today.

UPDATE: It turns out that Britney WAS a bridesmaid in Brett‘s wedding (TMZ reports that Britney was Maid of Honor) … and she had to wear this kinda fugly dress:


I’m really not loving the dress but I’m loving the fact that Britney was a bridesmaid :) I guess the next time we see Britney and Jason at a wedding … it may be their own ;)

‘Glee’s Matthew Morrison Gives A Free Concert At The Grove

Earlier today we got a sneak peek at actor/singer Matthew Morrison dancing a little jig with guest star Katie Couric in the upcoming Super Bowl Episode of Glee and right now we get to see photos from Matthew‘s free concert performance at The Grove here in LA yesterday afternoon.

Tony nominee and “Glee” star Matthew Morrison performs his first-ever solo concert Jan. 29 at The Grove in Los Angeles. The free noon concert features songs from Morrison’s upcoming solo recording … The concert, which is sponsored by Oscar Mayer, helps launch Oscar Mayer brand’s Good Mood Mission. Morrison and the Oscar Mayer brand will make a $50,000 donation to the Grammy Foundation to support music education. In addition, Oscar Mayer Good Mood Mission participants will have the chance to win $100,000 to do some good in their community. Morrison received a Tony nomination for his work in Light in the Piazza and also appeared on Broadway in South Pacific, Hairspray, A Naked Girl on the Appian Way, The Rocky Horror Show and Footloose. On “Glee,” he plays high school show choir director and Spanish teacher Will Schuester.

I understand the free concert was streamed live on the official Facebook profile for Oscar Meyer wieners. Um, yeah. I also understand that some of Morrison‘s Glee costars were kind enough to attend the festivities yesterday as a show of support. While the idea of an entire album of Morrison singing his own music is not at all interesting to me, I think it’s great that he is getting to live his musical dreams based on the success of Glee. You gotta strike while the iron is hot … it’s very smart of Matthew Morrison (and any other Glee castmember who is trying to cash in on the success of the show) to get it while the gettin’s good. Are any of y’all Matthew Morrison fans? Will you be picking up his debut album when it gets released this year?

Henry Cavill Has Been Cast As The New Superman

Earlier this week we learned that True Blood star Joe Manganiello was up for the role of Clark Kent/Superman in the upcoming reboot film Superman: Man of Steel that will be directed by Zack Snyder. Today we learn that Joe did NOT get the role … because The Tudors star Henry Cavill has officially been cast as Superman.

Henry Cavill (The Tudors, Stardust) has been officially cast as Clark Kent/Superman in Superman: Man of Steel. Warner Bros. confirmed the news this morning along with Zack Snyder's comments on Cavill as his leading star.

"In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time, and I am honored to be a part of his return to the big screen. I also join Warner Bros., Legendary and the producers in saying how excited we are about the casting of Henry. He is the perfect choice to don the cape and S shield."

The 27 year-old Cavill, while relatively unknown compared to fellow DC superhero actors Christian Bale and Ryan Reynolds, is a growing star and certainly has the look to play a younger Clark Kent, a much younger Clark Kent compared to the rumors of 40 year-old Jon Hamm of Mad Men fame playing the iconic character. Cavill can be seen later this year playing Theseus in Immortals, starring alongside Mickey Rourke, John Hurt and Kellan Lutz and was a key character in The Tudors for its entire run, working with Jonathan Rhys Meyers. The story of the Superman reboot won't be a full origin story and may differ from the comic books significantly in that respect. The story originates from the minds of Christopher Nolan, who was previously set to produce the project, and comic book movie veteran, David S. Goyer. Goyer is penning the script for Zack Snyder. As for what the story of the new Superman movie will be about, Snyder explains it has no ties to previous franchise films and is not based on any specific comic book story.

"As I have already explained, the film will focus on early days of Superman, so there will be no links with other films. This is not a remake then. Similarly, although I still can not talk about the script, I can assure you that this new Superman will not be based on a comic book in particular."

I LOVE this casting! Cavill is the perfect choice … he’s young, hot, extremely talented … and his casting comes completely out of left field. It’s not very often that Hollywood surprises us … but this is a very nice surprise. While I feel it’s really too soon to be rebooting the Superman franchise (and, really, will anyone ever really surpass the late Christopher Reeve as Superman?), I am newly invigorated for the film by this news. What do y’all think? Is Henry Cavill a great choice to play Superman, or what?

First Look: Katie Couric On ‘Glee’

Glee returns with all new episodes starting next SUNDAY after Super Bowl XLV. The much-ballyhooed Super Bowl Episode of Glee promises lots of fun musical performances and special guest stars … including, strangely enough, anchorwoman Katie Couric. Here is our first look at a new promo video released that teases Katie‘s appearance on the show.


My assumption is that Katie will not be singing but it looks like she will get to dance a bit with actor Matthew Morrison while he serenades her. My gut tells me that the actual episode will not live up to the massive hype that has been building for the past few weeks but … I’m still anxious to see it. It looks cute, yeah?

Britney Spears & Jason Trawick Party In Miami, FL

Yesterday we heard some exclusive news from the set of Britney Spears‘s new music video and today we learn new deets about how Britney and her agent/beau Jason Trawick spent their weekend together. Britwick managed to sneak out of SoCal and make their way to Miami, FL. Last night, they popped up at a Miami nightclub and an eagle-eyed fan managed to snap a couple of photos of Britwick‘s night out and share them with Britney fan site Breathe Heavy.

A lucky BreatheHeavy reader sent in a few shots of Britney at club LIV in Miami. Britney had a ton of bouncers surrounding her and did not allow anyone to take any photographs, but Britney smiled and waved to fans anyway. The club played a sick remix of Hold It Against Me while Brit and boyfriend Jason Trawick sat at the VIP table. Hope Britney is having a fun time in Miami!

It is very rare to see Britney and Jason out clubbing. The couple usually do the best that they can to stay out of the limelight in this way but I guess since they were on vacation, they decided to enjoy some of the Miami nightlife. I LOVED that the club played Hold It Against Me in honor of their VIP guests ;) I suppose it’s possible that Britney made her way to Miami to do some work for her album. There are a lot of rumors about some remix work that she will be doing for her new music … maybe she’s in Miami to do some of that work. According to a new press release issued by her record company, the deluxe version of her new album will feature bonus tracks:

Based on a sales-solicitation sheet, which was confirmed as accurate by a label rep to MTV News, the pop superstar’s still-untitled LP is set to drop March 15. Perhaps Britney is now recording her b-side songs? Tho, it seems more likely to me that Britney may be hooking up with guest musicians/rappers for remix work. Whatever the case may be, I sincerely hope that Britwick‘s trip to Miami isn’t all work and no play. I’d love to see new photos of our dear Britney soaking up the Miami sun :D

Facebook Founder Mark Zuckerberg Makes A Guest Appearance On ‘Saturday Night Live’

Earlier this week we saw promo videos released by Saturday Night Live that promoted guest host Jesse Eisenberg on last night’s ep of SNL. At the time, it occurred to me that Jesse might have a guest star pop up on the show to lend him a hand. I was certain that Justin Timberlake would be the one to make a cameo but it occurred to me that Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg might be cool enough to show up. It turns that he was, Zuckerberg came out during the opening monologue much to everyone’s surprise.


In all honesty, the monologue gag about the 3 Zuckerbergs could’ve been a lot funnier but the fact that the real Mark Zuckerberg decided to make a cameo on the show was really freakin’ cool, IMHO. Here is video of last night’s SNL opening:


I mean, yeah, could’ve been better but still … amazing. Musical guest Nicki Minaj was also pretty amazing on the show. For her first performance of her song Right Thru Me, Nicki wore a Christian Siriano dress from his Spring/Summer 2011 collection:


Her second performance was for her song Moment 4 Life:


But, IMHO, her best performance last night was in the Digital Short for the music video Do The Creep:


BUT … Nicki guested in another skit called The Bride of Blackenstein:


She damn near got more screentime than host Jesse Eisenberg did. To be honest, last night’s ep of SNL was really good. There were a lot of surprises and the skits were fairly funny. It was the best ep of SNL in a long time, don’tcha think? Did you watch last night? Did you enjoy the show?
