PETA-LICIOUS: Taraji P. Henson Goes NUDE Instead Of Rocking Fur

Posted: 27 Jan 2011 08:08 AM PST

Well here's one bod I'm sure folks wouldn't mind seeing without fur.   Oscar nominated actress Taraji P. Henson has teamed up with animal rights group PETA to make it known she'd rather go naked than wear fur.

Her brand new nude and fabulous ad, plus what she has to say about why she's Team Anti-Fur, when you read on...

YBF celebs and sports figures seem to be signing on for PETA's anti-fur campaign left and right.  Fab chick Taraji Henson is the newest celeb to drop all her clothes and bare all for the "I'd Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur" campaign.

Taraji, who turned 40 this past September, said she used to wear fur without giving it a second thought—until she saw a documentary that revealed how animals on fur farms are skinned alive. Now, the celebrated actress is the star of a provocative new Los Angeles billboard and New York flyposting campaign for PETA in which she declares, "Fur? I'd Rather Go Naked."

"Education is key," stresses Henson. "When I realized what went into—not just, we're not just even talking about a full-length fur coat, I'm talking about just, like, fur on your gloves or on your jacket … it ripped my heart out. And as humans, we have control. What if someone said, 'Black skin is the new fur'?"

"I don't think a living being should suffer for the sake of fashion, period. End of story," concludes Henson. "You don't have to kill an animal just because you want to be hot and fly. And I really stand by that."

She's set to officially unveil the campaign, which was shot by top celebrity photographer Don Flood, in person at PETA's New York Fashion Week bash on February 10.

Chick is looking fan-freakin'-tabulous in this ad.  WORK.  And behind-the-scenes video of her shoot and her speaking on why she chose to never wear fur:

"The Game" Sets Records For BET + Gayle King Sleeps Through Obama's State Of The Union?

Posted: 27 Jan 2011 07:03 AM PST

BET's "The Game" has become a success for the network drawing numbers as big as MTV's "Jersey Shore."  Get the deets on the sitcom's success plus find out what might have caused Gayle King to fall asleep during Barack Obama's State Of The Union address this week.

After debuting to a record-breaking 7.7 million viewers on Jan. 11th, "The Game" held onto most of its audience the following week drawing 6 million viewers on Jan. 19.  This must have The CW licking its wounds.  "This was a show that should never have been cancelled, but The CW had nowhere to put it," says industry analyst Marc Berman of AdweekMedia.

Marc says BET's decision was,

"...one of the smartest moves I've ever seen a network do. The advantage [BET] had was that people were familiar with the show.  And BET has a niche audience and caters to the African-American community -- and that was the audience watching The CW sitcoms."

And apparently BET put a lot of money into advertising and marketing for the show which is clearly paying off.  BET Networks Chairman/CEO Debra Lee said several conscious marketing decisions to raise "The Game's" profile.

"When we started to think about the marketing campaign behind 'The Game,' it made sense to give the biggest scripted launch on our network the biggest overall platform on our network, which is the 'BET Awards.  We started with a teaser spot with the cast of 'The Game' during the 'BET Awards' and then began to leverage every major program to deliver the message about the return of 'The Game' -- from 'Black Girls Rock!' to the 'Soul Train Awards."

She continued,

"In addition to that, we did the traditional off-channel tactics such as billboards, bus buys and radio spots. We also did a fantastic job of leveraging the show's fan base on social media sites."

Glad to see BET has a hit on its hands that doesn't involve baby mamas or reality television.  And the industry is taking notice too.  "The CW's loss is BET's gain, says Marc Berman. "It's a win/win situation and I commend them for it."

Although she is good friends with First Lady Michelle and President Obama, even Gayle King couldn't make it through this week's State of the Union address.   At The Atlantic's viewing dinner at Le Cirque in New York City, Gayle told the crowd "I have a really bad cold, so I am sounding like a man."  And maybe she had taken some powerful cold meds because within 15 minutes of the speech, she reportedly started to doze off with pen and pad in hand. I bet that was a funny site to see.

It's Official: Willow Smith To Star In Remake Of "Annie"

Posted: 26 Jan 2011 03:06 PM PST

We told you earlier that the Broadway/Hollywood classic Annie was being remade by Will and Jada Pinkett Smith's Overbrook Entertainment, starring Willow Smith. Now it's official.  Deets inside...

How fab! It's official that Will and Jada Pinkett Smith have decided to produce a remake of Annie starring their daughter ten-year-old Willow Smith.  The film will be made by Overbrook Entertainment, which the Smiths co-own, along with Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter and Sony Pictures.

As you might remember, the movie tells the story of little orphan Annie whose life is transformed when she goes to live with the wealthy industrialist Oliver "Daddy" Warbucks.  This is one of my favorite movies so I'm interested to see Willow bring her swagger to "Maybe," "Hard Knock Life" (if included) and "Tomorrow."

Congrats Willow!

Kandi's Ex, NFL Baller Willis McGahee, Gets NUDE For PETA

Posted: 26 Jan 2011 01:57 PM PST

Well hello there Mr. McGahee.  Remember the Baltimore Ravens baller Willis McGahee that "ATL Housewife" Kandi Burruss went out on a few dates with?  Well he's showing off his athletic birthday suit for the world.  And for PETA.

Read on for his new ads and behind-the-scenes video...

As part of PETA's INK, NOT MINK campaign, they went with the NFL runningback to help them with their cause.  He posed in a kid friendly ad (above), as well as in an adult friendly ad.  We're feeling the latter.

Willis says he's anti-fur and doesn't believe the mistreatment and inhumane treatment of animals is worth it:

"You don't want to just sit there and electrocute an animal just for its fur or anything like that, you know—that's, that's not right," McGahee explains to PETA. "And that's something I believe in."

He showed off his tatts instead.  Nice...

Nicki Minaj Wants Kids To Avoid Her Music?! + Rihanna's "LOUD" Cd Goes Platinum + More

Posted: 26 Jan 2011 10:38 AM PST

Nicki Minaj says her music is not for the kiddies.  Even though that's her main demographic.  Get the deets inside, plus Rihanna goes platinum, and Chad Ochocinco's appearance on "Basketball Wives."

Nicki Minaj is concerned about being a role model for young fans.   When asked about her image and what she represents she said,

"Being honest, if I had a daughter I wouldn't want her listening to a Nicki Minaj CD until she was a certain age. Even when I meet my fans and they tell me they are 12, I cringe a little. I always say, 'Listen. I don't want you saying the bad words, put school first."

I get what Nicki is saying. But it's a little suspicious because I'm sure the majority of the people who bought Pink Friday were around that 12-16 age bracket.  So....does she want to distance herself from the fan base that turned her into a "star-uh"?  Hmm.

In music news....

Rihanna joins the ranks of Kanye West and Nicki Minaj as her album LOUD has been certified platinum (albums shipped in the US).  In terms of sales, LOUD has sold 830,000 in the US and 2.8 million copies worldwide.

She recently tweeted:

With the debut of her ‘S&M’ music video in coming weeks, sales should reach 1 million.

In reality TV news:

Chad OchoCinco makes his first appearance since becoming the "fiance" on "Basketball Wives" with his soon-to-be wife Evelyn Lozada.  Watch the clip below....
