Exclusive: NEW Details Leak From The Set Of Britney Spears’s New Music Video

Posted: 29 Jan 2011 02:09 PM PST

Earlier this week we learned of a few new deets about Britney Spears‘s new music video for her single Hold It Against Me … but today, I have some new information that, to my knowledge, has not been reported anywhere else. According to a trusted source with direct knowledge from the Hold It Against Me music video set, Britney will be doing something very cool in her video … something she’s never done before.

So, I’m told that in the video for Hold It Against Me, Britney will be shooting paint from her hands (fingers) onto video screens. The director, Jonas Åkerlund, wanted to paint Britney‘s face for the scene but she was adamantly against having paint put on her face (I’m told she suffered a minor meltdown on set as a result). A body double stand in was used for the paint scenes that Britney was not comfortable doing. Now, we won’t really know if any of this is true until the video comes out and we see (or don’t see) Britney shooting paint from her hands … but I think this bit of info is deffo worth sharing since it’s totally new information.

We still don’t know when the video will be released but now I’m dying to know if my source is right … I’d love to see how this potential paint scene turns out.

All Is Full Of Love

David and I spent a quiet night at home last night. I toyed with the idea of going out but I recently picked up a LOAD of great LP records so I thought it would be fun to just stay home and listen to some of them. Homogenic by Björk is one of my all-time favorite albums so I was thrilled to find it on vinyl. I also indulged my hair metal sweet tooth with Def Leppard‘s Hysteria and my inner-goth child with the Bauhaus single Bela Lugosi’s Dead.

I distinctly remember when Homogenic came out … it was one of those albums that blew me away completely. Before 1997, I was just a casual Björk fan. I liked her music and loved her music videos but I didn’t fall crazy in love until Homogenic came out. For me, it is her masterpiece album. Hearing it on vinyl is a treat that I wish everyone could enjoy. I also remember how HUGE Def Leppard was back in the mid-80s. Altho I was still a wee one, you couldn’t escape the fact that almost every song off of Hysteria was on the radio or on MTV. As for Bauhaus, well, I can’t even tell you how many times I danced my “writhing in pain” goth dance to that song over the years. Bela Lugosi’s Dead is widely regarded as the first goth song and I think it carries the mantle very well. It’s a simple but beautiful and haunting song. The vinyl version of the single that I found is the French version … on clear vinyl:

You can see my slipmat from Detroit record company Ghostly International underneath the clear vinyl record. To be honest, I actually get disappointed when I open a new record and find the traditional black vinyl. Colored vinyl is so damn fun, I wish all records were clear or came in different colors.

I have been SUCH in a music mode lately. It’s been fun. Music has always been a huge passion of mine, ever since childhood. Altho I can’t make music (believe me, I’ve tried), I relish in listening to and taking it in. My suggestion for the day is to listen to your favorite album in full today, from beginning to end. Remember what it is about that album that makes you love it so much. If you could, let me know what your fave album is in the comments ;)

No plans for today … it turns out the Disneyland trip got scrapped so now I’m free for the day. What to do, what to do? Happy Saturday!

For MTV, Hitting Women Is Wrong – Hitting Men Is OK

Posted: 29 Jan 2011 12:45 PM PST

On Thursday night, MTV aired an episode of Jersey Shore where Sammi Sweetheart Giancola punched her boyfriend Ronnie Ortiz-Magro in the face. For weeks leading up to last night’s episode, MTV heavily promoted the punching scene as a way to lure viewers to tune in. Last year, MTV did the same thing with a scene from Jersey Shore‘s premiere season where Nicole Snooki Polizzi was punched in the face … until outrage and complaints began to come in about MTV‘s seeming endorsement of physical violence against women. MTV pulled the scene and issued a PSA against physical violence toward women … this time around, MTV offered no such PSA about physical violence against men.

Entertainment Weekly published an excellent article on this matter that expertly outlines the double standard that MTV seems to enjoy. Apparently, it’s not OK for men to hit women … but it is OK for women to hit men:

Try as you might to black out every single episode of Jersey Shore you've ever watched, it's hard to forget one particular moment from late 2009. MTV, running a promo for an upcoming episode of Jersey Shore, showed a piece of footage that had everyone gasping in disgust: Snooki got punched. Viewers were outraged (though some were disturbingly tickled), claiming the network was using footage of criminal assault in order to boost ratings. MTV, in turn, listened to their critics, and agreed to pull the scene showing the violence from the episode: "After hearing from our viewers, further consulting with experts on the issue of violence, and seeing how the video footage has been taken out of context to not show the severity of this act or the resulting consequences, MTV has decided not to air Snooki being physically punched in next week's episode," the network said in December 2009. But then on last night's episode, we witnessed Sammi punching her boyfriend, Ronnie (MTV did not immediately respond to a request for comment). Granted, this scene didn't involve the same crime: Snooki was punched by a stranger — a man. Ronnie was punched by his girlfriend — a woman. Yet, violence is still violence, and domestic violence can be just as (if not more) terrifying than a random act of heinous douchery. And yet it's not unthinkable that most Jersey Shore viewers laughed at that moment. We laugh at everything the Jersey Shore cast does: Drink, smush, or sit in refrigerators while discussing their bathroom habits. Why shouldn't we laugh when a delicate woman clumsily punches her juicehead gorilla boyfriend? But the moment still implied the same unsettling message that the Snooki punch did: That violence is excusable if it makes for good TV … As MTV said when they decided to pull the footage of Snooki getting punched, viewers don't get the chance to see the consequences of such an action. Did Sammi get arrested? No. Did Sammi get reprimanded by producers? No. Did anything happen to Sammi at all, besides some (light) chastising from her roommates? No. While no impressionable soul should ever be allowed to watch an episode of Jersey Shore, they certainly should be dissuaded from practicing the same violent behavior they see on TV — perhaps the same way that Teen Mom tells its viewers that "Teen pregnancy is 100 percent preventable" at the start of every show. (Heck, MTV even aired an anti-violence PSA from the Love Is Respect Project immediately after the Jersey Shore episode in which Snooki got punched. What's the difference here?) And speaking of which, on the very same network, we watched Teen Mom's Amber beat her fiancé, Gary, on camera. Though we didn't witness consequences directly after the fact, subsequent news coverage regarding Amber's legal troubles — and acknowledgment that domestic in-fighting is unacceptable in the reunion show — was hopefully enough to hammer home to MTV's demographic that violence in any capacity is unacceptable. Now, I understand there are few (rational) people who look at JW0ww, Sammi, Snooki, or Ronnie as role models. But there are plenty who view their fights and domestic violence as good-natured fun. And that's a situation.

Thank YOU, EW magazine. MTV has long ago abandoned any semblance of a value system when they decided to put these types of exploitative programming on the air. I must remind you, tho, that MTV was not aghast by Snooki getting punched at first. They happily and giddily promoted the punching scene over and over and over. It was only after public outcry shamed them into pulling the scene that the scene got pulled and then this bullshit PSA was cooked up to try and remedy the potential PR nightmare that was coming. In this week’s episode, MTV again happily promoted the punch as something to SEE on Jersey Shore. Jenni JWoww Farley has repeatedly been punching her male castmates on the show … MTV has no problem with that. The JS girls even assault one another … again, MTV has no problem with this. I can’t help but wonder how many people get the message that physical violence is OK as entertainment. Just like I’m certain there are immature and plainly stupid minor girls who think they can get famous by getting pregnant so they can star on MTV‘s Teen Mom, I’m certain there is a segment of the population that sees all of this physical violence on Jersey Shore and thinks it’s OK. To be honest, MTV programming lost my respect years ago. Stuff like this only reinforces those feelings in me.

Pregnant Alicia Silverstone Poses For ‘Vogue’ Magazine

Posted: 29 Jan 2011 11:41 AM PST

When last we saw photos of the happily pregs Alicia Silverstone, she was taking her baby bump out for a stroll in her SoCal neighborhood. This week, Alicia and bump surfaced at the Animal Acres animal sanctuary on the set of a Vogue magazine photoshoot.

Following in the footsteps of Demi Moore and Britney Spears, Alicia Silverstone is the next Hollywood star to become a pregnant cover girl. The actress completed a photo shoot for for fashion bible Vogue earlier this week. After announcing her pregnancy last week, the 34-year-old showed off her burgeoning baby bump for the high-end fashion magazine. The shoot took place at Animal Acres animal sanctuary, a charity of which she has been a big supporter. With a little help from some furry friends, the stunning actress looked to be having a ball shooting the spread. The well-renown environmentalist settled on a natural setting for her pregnancy pictures. And unlike Britney and Demi, she did not appear to be posing nude. During the shoot, Alicia laid on a pig, hung out with some cows and sat in a barn with a bunch of turkeys, chickens and ducks. And in keeping with the environmentally friendly theme, Alicia’s on-set motor home was run on bio-diesel fuel. Looking simply radiant, Alicia slipped into a long flowing purple gown for the shoot. With a robe wrapped around the dress, she looked happy to get acquainted with her new friends that included a hairy goat. A long-time vegan, she was seen snacking on grapes and other healthy items throughout the day.

She looks so great … I can’t wait to see how these photos turn out. I am SO loving Alicia‘s bump watch … she looks radiant, resplendent … just plain beautiful. Love her!! Wee!!

There’s Something About Courtney Love

Posted: 29 Jan 2011 11:18 AM PST

Trainwrecky Courtney Love, who is currently in London, England these days, was spotted on the streets of Chelsea last night bundled up against the bitter weather. Unfortch, C. Love was unflatteringly photographed just as big gust of wind blasted her in the face … which made her hair look very much like Cameron Diaz‘s hair in the 1998 film There’s Something About Mary.

Sometimes the jokes just write themselves …

BFFs Nicole Richie and Khloe Kardashian were spotted at the Staples Center in downtown LA last night rooting for the LA Lakers (and Khloe‘s husband Lamar Odom, in particular) and it looked like they were having the best time ever. Nicole tweeted a photo from the game last night but the pair were snapped professionally from afar as well.

These two are practically inseparable … they are the truest of BFFs and it’s really cute to see them having so much fun together. Aren’t they adorable?

Jonathan Knight Of New Kids On The Block Comes Out Publicly As Gay

Posted: 29 Jan 2011 09:11 AM PST

Last week former popstar turned actress Tiffany accidentally outed New Kids on the Block singer Jonathan Knight as gay on national television here in the US. Tiffany‘s outing came almost 2 years after an ex-boyfriend of Knight‘s outed him in the pages of The National Enquirer. In the wake of both incidents, Jonathan Knight neither confirmed nor denied that he was gay … until now. Jonathan posted a blog on his official website that, once and for all, publicly acknowledges the fact that he is a gay man.

Here is the full text of Jonathan‘s blogpost about his sexuality:

“To all my fans who have expressed concern:

I have never been outed by anyone but myself. I did so almost twenty years ago. I never knew that I would have to do it all over again publicly just because I reunited with NKOTB! I have lived my life very openly and have never hidden the fact that I am gay. Apparently the pre requisite to being a gay public figure is to appear on the cover of a magazine with the caption, ‘I am gay’. I apologize for not doing so if this is what was expected! My belief is that you live your life by example, and not by a caption on a magazine! If there ever has been any confusion about my sexuality, then you are someone that doesn’t even know me!

I love living my life being open and honest, but at this time I choose not to discuss my private life any further! My fellow band members don’t discuss their private lives with their loved ones and I don’t feel that just because I am gay, I should have to discuss mine!

Jonathan”

First and foremost, I am personally very grateful that Jonathan decided to come out publicly. While I am a bit turned off by the tone of his statement, I feel it is a very positive and encouraging act that will likely go a long way to helping other people struggling with their own sexuality. I can understand Knight‘s aversion to “having to” come out as gay just because he is a public figure (even tho he really doesn’t have to) but I wish he could understand what his coming out could do for others. If a member of New Kids on the Block came out back in the late 80′s/early 90′s, kids like me would see that it is OK to be famous, successful and gay. From a young age, I was personally inundated with the idea that gays should not come out … and I honestly believe that stunted my emotional growth. I didn’t come out until college … but maybe if Knight had come out while I was in high school, I might’ve found the strength to do so myself. And beyond my personal experience, his coming out might’ve enlightened his straight fans to the fact that it is OK to be gay. Again, I would never want to put that kind of pressure on anyone else … but if he and other gay celebs could just understand what their bravery means to others, we would live in a totally different world.

Still, I am very happy and grateful that Jonathan Knight decided to come out publicly, even after all these years. Yay!

Lindsay Lohan Expresses Concern For Charlie Sheen

Posted: 29 Jan 2011 08:45 AM PST

Dude … you’ve got to be in serious trouble if Lindsay Lohan is voicing concern over your health and safety … that is the position that troubled actor Charlie Sheen finds himself in these days. As you may recall, we awoke Thursday morning to the news that Charlie Sheen was rushed to the emergency room with “stomach pains” after it was later revealed that Sheen had been on a 36-hour drug-fueled party bender with a group of porn stars at his home. Yesterday afternoon, it was reported that Charlie Sheen checked himself in to rehab. In light of all of this crazy drama, L. Lo has reportedly expressed to friends that she is worried about Sheen.

Lindsay Lohan believes Charlie Sheen is in the midst of a “life or death situation” … and has told friends she’s “thrilled” that he’s checked himself into a rehab center. Sources close to Lohan tell us … Lindsay is “worried” about Sheen because his most recent bender shows “obvious signs of addiction” … something Lindsay knows about all too well. But after Sheen decided to check himself into a treatment center Friday afternoon, Lohan is confident he can get his life back together … if he commits himself to sobriety. We’re told Lindsay “understands the problem of having the wrong people around and wants Charlie to understand that he needs to surround himself with positive, sober people.”

I’m sorry and I don’t mean to be flippant here but … LOL. While it’s very nice of Lindsay Lohan to express concern for someone else struggling with addiction, I think it’s a bit too early for her not to be worried about her own deadly substance abuse problems first and foremost. Still, it says a lot when someone as troubled as Lindsay can recognize when another person is in trouble.

As for Charlie himself? Well, he does not believe there is anything wrong with his behavior and has commented publicly that he doesn’t understand why everyone is so concerned for him. RadarOnline published comments which are reportedly from Sheen himself that show how he really feels about his shenanigans this week:

Charlie Sheen has spoken out for the first time since his wild party with porn stars that landed him in the hospital. “I’m fine,” Sheen told RadarOnline’s Senior Executive Editor Dylan Howard via text message on Friday afternoon around the same time it was announced he was checking into rehab. “People don’t seem to get it…. Guy can’t have a great time and do his job also?” The Two and a Half Men star finished the text with a characterization of his detractors: "Bunch of turds." It’s not clear who Sheen was referring to, although RadarOnline.com revealed his father Martin was the one who convinced his son to seek help, along with his employer CBS which said in a statement it was “profoundly concerned for his health and well-being” … Sheen’s exchange with RadarOnline.com also draws into question an earlier statement, from his rep, that suggested he “voluntarily entered” an undisclosed rehabilitation center … Sheen’s text message to Howard arrived at 4.23 pm PT and it’s not clear if he had entered the facility when it was received.

Yeah, I had a feeling that Sheen‘s decision to enter rehab was not his own … if he truly was forced to enter rehab by his family or CBS bosses, then it’ll prolly be a waste of time. Charlie Sheen won’t get better until he wants to get better. It absolutely does NOT sound like he wants to get better at all. In fact, it’s pretty clear that Sheen had a blast and prolly can’t wait until he can get back to partying. TMZ got a hold of a check that Sheen wrote to one of his porn star guests Wednesday night which, IMHO, shows how little Sheen has to worry about anything, especially considering he makes $2 million dollars A WEEK!

Charlie Sheen wrote a $30,000 check to a porn star in the middle of his 36-hour party binge — because he felt like it — and TMZ has the unbelievable proof. Sources involved in the bender tell us … Sheen broke out his checkbook during a conversation with a porn star Wednesday in which he asked her to join the “porn family” he wants to create. We’re told Sheen — in a showing of good faith — wrote a $30,000 check made out to “cash” and told the porn star to take it to the bank … and the money was hers. Obviously, the porn star darted for her car — and when she got to the bank, the teller called Charlie AND one of Sheen’s business associates to verify the transaction. Luckily for the porn star, it cleared. As TMZ previously reported, Charlie was throwing money around like crazy during the binge — offering to spend $1,000,000 to rent out a neighbors mansion for four months … and ordering in a briefcase full of cocaine.

$30k to Charlie Sheen is like $0.03 to us. To be honest, yes, I’m worried about Charlie Sheen‘s life but I’m prolly more concerned for his baby daughters who run the risk of losing their father because he seemingly cares more for partying than he does for caring for his children. This crazy Charlie Sheen drama won’t end until he either really decides to clean up his life … or he dies. It’s that simple.
