Wait: We Thought Boris Kodjoe Wasn’t Worried About His New Show?

Posted: 22 Oct 2010 04:15 PM PDT

Boris Kodjoe Gugu Mbatha Undercovers NBC low ratings

Remember when Boris Kodjoe was talking all that “all my people are supporting my new show” stuff?

Oh what a difference a week makes. He hasn’t admitted defeat or anything. But NBC is definitely on the fence about the fate of “Undercovers,” which finds Boris and Gugu Mbatha-Raw playing a pair of ex-CIA agents pulled back into the agency.

One day after greenlighting a full season for three upstart shows — “The Event,” “Outsourced,” and “Law & Order: Los Angeles” — NBC has announced that “Chase,” its new Jerry Bruckheimer-produced U.S. marshal drama, has been picked up for a full season. The network’s action-comedy “Chuck” has also been approved for 11 more episodes.

The news that Chuck will live to see more episodes might come as a surprise to some. Though it’s generated a loyal fan base, the show’s ratings have dwindled, causing sites like TV by the Numbers to predict that it would be canceled. But NBC seems to be in a generous mood: It also ordered four more episodes of their critically acclaimed but commercially struggling drama “Undercovers.”

Ok. Now, which one do you guys think NBC cares about most: critical acclaim or commercial success?

And Boris is letting the facade of success show some cracks. Just read between the lines of his tweets.

‘Snakes In The Pulpit’ Author Requests Judge To Order HIV And STD Testing For Bishop Eddie Long

Posted: 22 Oct 2010 04:02 PM PDT

Bishop Eddie Long with Toupee

Forget about burning in hell… Reuben Armstrong, the Dallas based talk show host who made a formal request that Bishop Eddie Long step down amidst allegations of sexual coercion, is more concerned about the Bishop BURNING on Earth.

In fact, he’s so concerned that he’s making another request. but this time it’s of the Judge hearing the case against Bishop Eddie Long.

Armstrong has requested via a Certified Letter to DeKalb County State Court Judge Johnny Panos requesting that the court mandate certain medical tests due to the allegations that have been brought against Bishop Eddie Long. Bossip has seen the certified letter.

In it, Armstrong is requesting that the Judge issue a court order for Bishop Eddie Long to submit to HIV, syphilis and hepatitis testing. While Armstrong stops short of accusing Bishop Long of having such diseases, he raises the possibility that if the allegations against Bishop Eddie Long are true, there may be a chance that Bishop Long exposed himself and others to such diseases. Armstrong even cites the case of another Atlanta Bishop — JD Husband, who molested and infected a young man with AIDS before they both died of complications from the disease.

Here’s an excerpt from Armstrong’s letter to Judge Panos:

On behalf of the African American community, which is plagued with the onslaught of AIDS and HIV, I am seeking your consideration into the recent allegations made against Bishop Eddie Long. I am requesting that you, as the Honorable Judge of the court, mandate Bishop Eddie Long to submit to a confidential HIV/AIDS test, along with other tests for sexually transmitted diseases.

Armstrong goes on to cite statistics for rising incidents of HIV/STD in the black community, as well as to detail the case of Bishop JD Husband. Despite how it sounds, Armstrong says his motivations are pure.

My request does not come by way of revenge, publicity or persecution,” Armstrong writes. “I am not saying that the Bishop has this disease. I am saying that the alleged behaviors listed in the allegations of the court documents is behavior that promotes sexually transmitted diseases…

In the event that he is found to be positive with any sexually transmitted disease, I request that his court date be pushed to the top of your docket so that his connection to the community would be limited.

Your Honor, my words cannot express how serious this matter is to me on behalf of the African American community. The health of many young boys may depend on this request. If it is within the powers of the law to mandate such a test to Bishop Eddie Long, this would be a pro-active defense in the fight against sexually transmitted diseases in the African American community.

Hey Reuben, can we get you to do something about Kat Stacks while you’re at it???

BTW, Armstrong hasn’t given up on trying to get Bishop Eddie Long out of the pulpit. He and Prophet H. Walker of North Carolina are calling for Bishop Eddie Long to STEP DOWN from the Pulpit There will be a rally at 2 pm on Oct 31, 2010 at the Georgia State Capital.

If you’ve been wondering what all the fuss is about over Kanye West’s new short film “Runaway,” have no fear. Rocsi got to the bottom of it for the rest of us.

Apparently Rocsi filmed a special interview with Yeezy that’s airing tomorrow:

Grammy Award Winning entertainer and producer, Kanye West sits down with BET's Rocsi Diaz for an intimate interview immediately following the world premiere of his abstract short film, "Runaway". Kanye West and Rocsi discuss his relentless dedication to pop culture, his return to music with his G.O.O.D. Friday project, and his artistic vision behind his groundbreaking film, broadcasting simultaneously on BET, MTV, and VH1, Saturday, October 23, 2010 at 8:00 pm EST/PST.

Here’s a little more info about the film:

"Runaway", directed and written by Kanye West and narrated by Nicki Minaj, is a 35-minute short film accompanying West's upcoming album, "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" starring Kanye West and featuring model, Selita Ebanks as a phoenix, the film's lead character. West opens up to Rosci explaining the meaning of the phoenix throughout "Runaway" and in his own personal life stating "I feel like a phoenix that rises from the ashes to just be greater." The film, sharing the same title as West's lead single "Runaway" featuring Pusha T, includes music from West's current "G.O.O.D. Friday" releases, some of which will appear on the album, slated to release November 22.

We didn’t realize Nicki Minaj was narrating the film! This sounds like it could actually be good. Speaking of G.O.O.D. Kanye had his NYC Premiere of “Runaway” last night. Check out lots of pictures below.

Greedy B*tch Jacks 91-Year-Old Billionaire Ex For $100k A Month And $10Mil In Back Child Support

Lisa Kerkorian Kirk Kerkorian Child Support MGM

Well, obviously when Lisa Kerkorian allegedly eked out her geriatric husband’s very last seed and got knocked up 12 years ago, she knew what she was doing.

According to TMZ, this broad just hit the motherload.

Ex-MGM owner Kirk Kerkorian is used to writing big checks, so it may only come with a wince that he has to pay $100,000 a month in child support — for one kid!

Kerkorian — who had one of the nastiest and richest divorces ever from ex-wife Lisa Kerkorian — has been fighting Lisa’s bid to drastically increase support for their 12-year-old daughter.

So who woulda thunk? Kirk and Lisa settled … and TMZ has obtained a copy of the agreement, in which Kirk agreed to double the current monthly support, which had previously been set at $50,000.

Child support king Michael Trope managed to squeeze out an additional $10,250,000 in retroactive child support for his client, dating back to 2002.

As part of the deal, Lisa agreed to drop a civil suit she filed against Kirk — which could have been worth tens of millions of dollars.

And here’s the most incredible part — Kirk may not even be the biological daddy.

They tried to tell old boy it’s cheaper to keep her! And he didn’t even bother to make sure that the little girl – who was born when he was 79-years-old, mind you – is his kid. We would call it honorable, but that hundred racks makes us doubt his senility.

And here’s the kicker. Lisa tried to have the old man snuffed out at one point in this custody case. Three years ago.

In a taped conversation from April 2002, the telephonic tattler Pellicano tells Terry Christensen, lawyer to billionaire ex-MGM owner Kirk Kerkorian, that Kerokorian’s ex-wife, Lisa Bonder Kerkorian, has confided in her lawyers that she’d like to have Kerkorian killed, due to their fierce child-support and paternity battle.

Wow! This chicks gangster is impressive!

Are Willow Smith And Sesame Street Making A Difference In How Black Girls’ Beauty Is Perceived?

Posted: 22 Oct 2010 02:15 PM PDT

Willow Smith

NPR declared it “The Best Week Ever For Black Girls,” with “Sesame Street’s” ‘I Love My Hair’ skit grabbing headlines everywhere, and Willow Smith simultaneously holding court over pop culture with the debut of her “Whip My Hair” video. Both were worthy of celebration, signalling young girls to embrace being confident in who they are and how they look, but with so many other images out there sending mixed messages, we wondered if these are true signs of change, or just temporary fixes.

Essence Magazine also recently released their “Hot Hair Issue” with Monica on the cover, which paid homage to black hairstyles, short, long, natural and “enhanced,” making us wonder how willing black women — adult black women in particular — are to stop making improvements.

It also hasn’t escaped us that there are still other examples — for instance, Nene Leakes, going public with her plastic surgery details — that highlight how much black women continue to aspire to a certain standard of beauty. No matter how expensive it may be for our wallets and our psyches. In Nene’s case, she blamed her fast fixes on vanity, “I admit it; I’m vain.” But what was wrong with the nose God gave her? Was she inspired by magazine covers and the images on T.V. and in films?

We thought we’d open the floor for discussion, to see how the Bossip readers feel about black beauty. Should we all be striving for a Naomi Campbell or Halle Berry standard? Does a woman have to be more confident in who she is to rock a natural style over a weave? Or at the end of the day is it all about what works for us as individuals? Do you think Willow Smith and “Sesame Street” are making the world easier for our children to grow up with broad noses and kinky hair? Is black beauty as a whole more appreciated now than ever?

We’d love to hear your thoughts!

Lisa Marie Presley Says Michael Jackson Was Chopping It Down For 7 Years, Drugs Broke Them Up

Posted: 22 Oct 2010 02:09 PM PDT

Michael Jackson Lisa Marie Presley

Oprah‘s going out with a BANG, isn’t she! She snagged Lisa Marie Presley’s first (and she says only) interview about Michael Jackson since his passing. And Lisa made some interesting revelations.

As she’s said before, Lisa reiterated that she and MJ were truly in a romantic relationship and that there was nothing fake about it. That doesn’t mean Mike didn’t use it to his advantage.

Though Lisa Marie says her marriage to Michael Jackson was real, she also admits that Michael was a master at manipulating the media.

“He was brought up that way,” she says. “He was conditioned to get himself where he needed to go for his career, and he became very good at making and creating and puppeteering.”

But from the way she sounds, Lisa was definitely hooked… even if Michael wasn’t.

Lisa Marie says the marriage was, in every sense normal, open and intimate. When Michael couldn’t sleep at night, for example, she would stay awake to talk with him. She says she truly enjoyed being there for him.

“I loved taking care of him,” she says. “It was one of the highest points in my life when things were going really well, and he and I were united. It was a very profound time of my life.”

“He was an incredible, dynamic person,” she says. “He had something so intoxicating about him, and when he was ready to share with you and be himself—I don’t know if I’ve ever been that intoxicated by anything. … He was like a drug for me.”

So what could have possibly made her walk away from a love like that.

African American Dating Issues Cartoons Can't Make A Black Woman Happy

A cartoon has hit the net parodying the issues people face dating in a Hip-Hop ridden society.

Not too far from the truth, it takes a look at how Black women overlook good working Black men because they aren’t ballers. To the female character playing him because he’s not in the realm of Weezy and other Hip-Hop ballers, the gentlemen responds, “Lil Wayne has a lot of baby mamas, a bad drug problem and is in jail." When she says she wants a man like T.I. he says, "He’s on his way to jail," and tells her that Lebron James, "Hasn’t married his baby mama and has a commitment issue, ask the Cleveland Cavaliers."
