Chris Evans as Captain America: gorgeous or meh? Posted: 29 Oct 2010 11:30 AM PDT I think I've already described my love of Chris Evans, and how in the Death Battle of Chris Pine vs. Chris Evans, I'm always going to be Team Evans. Not that Pine and Evans are even aware of this grudge match - I always associate the two of them because I got them confused constantly before I really saw either of them in anything. Anyway, I love Evans, and now I love him even more, thanks to these photos. Evans was cast as Captain America a few months ago, and Entertainment Weekly (via Pajiba) has the "first look" photos. Um… Evans has a really nice body, right? JESUS. Pajiba has the new "plot" for the film, although I think I would probably watch Evans wander around like this for two hours: The year is 1942, and Steve Rogers is a scrawny lad who desperately wants to fight Nazis for his country but can't because he's been deemed physically unfit. His fate — and his physique — is radically transformed when he signs up for Project: Rebirth, a secret military operation that turns wimps into studs using drugs and assorted sci-fi hoo-ha. There's a love interest (Major Peggy Carter, played Haley Atwell), there's a sidekick (Bucky Barnes, played by Sebastian Stans), and there's the Red Skull (Hugo Weaving), Hitler's treacherous head of advanced weaponry, whose own plan for world domination involves a magical object known as The Tesseract (comic fans know it better as The Cosmic Cube). Evans on being cast as Captain America: "At the time, I remember telling a buddy of mine, 'If the movie bombs, I'm f—-ed. If the movie hits, I'm f—-ed!'" After declining the part three times, Evans took a meeting with Marvel execs and Johnston and was dazzled by their plans for the movie. He still felt wary about suiting up for Captain America — but then he had an epiphany. "I was just scared," he says. "I realized my whole decision making process was fear based, and you never want to make a decision out of fear.'" Evans signed a six-picture deal with Marvel to play the character, and he has no regrets: "I can't believe was almost too chicken to play Captain America." [From Entertainment Weekly, via Pajiba] So… he's a Super Soldier. Isn't the United States' military's R&D working on super soldier projects right now? So… Captain America is "ripped from the headlines". I kind of wish it wasn't a period film, though. It would be interesting to see a modern Captain America. Demi Moore & Ashton Kutcher step out for another uncomfortable photo op Posted: 29 Oct 2010 10:10 AM PDT As we talked about yesterday, Demi Moore brought out her shiny hair and her glum-faced husband Ashton on Wednesday. It was the first red carpet for Demi and Ashton since the club girl/cheating allegations, and the body language was totally off between them. Demi had gotten her face extra-tweaked for the red carpet, and her fashion choice was… questionable. For his part, Ashton seemed like a zombie, but an affectionate zombie obsessed with touching his wife at all times. So… they're out to prove something. I wonder what? If that photo op wasn't enough, they also made sure to pack on the PDA for the tabloids. People Magazine deemed the photos "The Look of Love" (barf). And Us Weekly had a glowing report, complete with eyewitness testimony: “They were holding hands almost the entire time on the carpet and were talking to each other softly and smiling in between photos. They looked very happy together and seemed to be very much in love.” Nothing gets the affectionate looks going like boning a club girl, I guess. Meanwhile, not ones to rest on one photo op alone, they just flew to Austria for some sort of charity gala, which I guess is today? And these photos are from the photo call…? Sure. Why not. The body language is much more relaxed in these photos then on Wednesday night. They actually look kind of cute together. Well, Demi looks like the wrath of God, but I've been thinking that a lot lately.

LeAnn Rimes’ nemesis Brandi Glanville was arrested for suspicion of DUI Posted: 29 Oct 2010 09:43 AM PDT As several commenters have already pointed out, Eddie Cibrian's ex-wife Brandi Glanville was arrested for suspicion of DUI last night/this morning in Beverly Hills. According to both TMZ and Radar, Brandi is still being held, and her bail is set at $5000. Here's my guess: Brandi was reading the news about LeAnn Rimes and the Shape Magazine editor, and she was so thrilled that she called a few girlfriends to go out celebrating. The celebrations involved tequila and male strippers (in my mind). Brandi Glanville, ex-wife of Eddie Cibrian, was busted for DUI early this morning … TMZ has learned. Glanville was arrested at 12:05 AM by Beverly Hills PD. She was pulled over on Sunset Blvd. for an unknown traffic violation. According to law enforcement sources, officers detected the odor of alcohol and Glanville was given a field sobriety test. She was then arrested for suspicion of DUI. She’s currently in custody and being held on $5,000 bail. [From TMZ] Honestly, I know I just made a joke about it, but this kind of thing pisses me off. Brandi is a mother, and she's old enough to know better. If you're that small a woman, and have more than two drinks, for f-ck's sake, just call a cab for your drunk ass. Also: Isn't LeAnn Rimes' home in Beverly Hills? Was Brandi's drunk ass driving over to Eddie and LeAnn's house to tell them off? Or was she driving over for a booty call with Eddie? I consulted LeAnn's Twitter, and she's making some vague remarks, nothing solidly about Brandi. Yet. We'll see. UPDATE: Oh, another hit for Team Glanville! Shape Magazine’s editor is backtracking AGAIN. She says: “I stand by the fact that LeAnn’s story is compelling–and her courage and strength in the face of so much adversity is compelling. That is why I put her on the cover of Shape for what is now the third time. The fact is a mere 40 readers out of almost 6 million readers wrote in to complain calling LeAnn a ‘husband stealer’ and a ‘terrible mistake for Shape’…I wrote to those women apologizing that our cover choice did not make them happy–as I have done for other cover stars in the past.” LeAnn is having a good day!
