In the wake of the HAPPY news that Mariah Carey is pregs with his first child, Nick Cannon rushed out yesterday to pick up a bunch of balloons to celebrate his impending fatherhood …


… of course, the dad-to-be could only be bothered with carrying a couple of balloons. Nick left the hard work of carrying all the other balloons to his assistant. I bet he is happy, y’all. I can’t wait until baby Cannon is born!

Meet ‘The Real Housewives’ Of ‘Saturday Night Live’

The ladies of Saturday Night Live, including Amy Poehler, Ana Gasteyer, Cheri Oteri, Kristen Wiig, Laraine Newman, Maya Rudolph, Molly Shannon, Nora Dunn, Rachel Dratch and Tina Fey will be joined by funnylady Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Bravo TV honcho Andy Cohen in a comedy skit spoofing The Real Housewives franchise for their upcoming The Women of SNL comedy special set to air on NBC on Monday November 1 … and here is our first look at the ladies of SNL doing their best housewives impression:

When you add the very funny women of ‘Saturday Night Live’ with the hilarious absurdity that is ‘Real Housewives’ reunions, what do you get? Gold, from the looks of it. Check out Bravo host Andy Cohen playing ringmaster with Molly Shannon, Maya Rudolph, Tina Fey, Nora Dunn, Ana Gasteyer, Rachel Dratch, Cheri Oteri and Kristen Wiig all channeling their best ‘Real Housewives.’ The segment is set for NBC’s ‘Women of SNL’ special set to air Nov. 1. The set is pure ‘Real Housewives of New Jersey’ season 1 reunion, and those one-shoulder dresses are a staple of ‘Real Housewives’ fashion. In fact, hasn’t the Kelly Bensimon worn the exact dress Molly Shannon has on? Other photos included several of the women holding individual microphones, hopefully singing wonderful Auto-Tuned songs. Whether the women are playing actual ‘Housewives’ or just versions of themselves remains to be seen. The aforementioned ‘SNL’ veterans will be joined by Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Laraine Newman and Amy Poehler to create new content for the ‘Saturday Night Live’ retrospective. That’s a whole lot of funny on tap.

Shia LaBeouf Flies High On The Set Of ‘Transformers: Dark Side Of The Moon’

Shia LaBeouf had a pretty strenuous day on the Los Angeles, CA set of the next Transformers film yesterday as he was strung up on wires to film a flying scene in front of a blue screen. CGI effects will be laid behind him in the final version of the film but as you can tell from the following photos, Shia‘s character Sam gets in some serious trubs in the next Transformers movie:

In the first two Transformers films, Shia LaBeouf’s character Sam Witwicky has battled the deadliest of robots and nearly died on several occasions. And it seems the third installment of the film franchise will live up to its predecessors, as LaBeouf showed as he filmed intricate aerial scenes on the set of the movie in Los Angeles yesterday. The 24-year-old actor was strapped securely into a harness before being hoisted into the air to shoot the scenes in front of a huge blue screen. LaBeouf was also seen shooting scenes alongside co-star Patrick Dempsey. There have been few details revealed about the storyline of the upcoming film, director Michael Bay has said that this is likely to be the last movie in the franchise. He said: ‘As a trilogy, it really ends. It could be rebooted again, but I think it has a really killer ending. The movie is more of a mystery. It ties in what we know as history growing up as kids with what really happened.’ Transformers 3, officially titled Transformers: The Dark of the Moon, also sees stars Frances McDormand and John Malkovich join the cast. Talking about Malkovich’s role in the film, producer Lorenzo Di Bonaventura said: ‘Malkovich is going to have a lot of interaction with Shia in that movie. And he’s got a really fun character. And he’s going to bring a really interesting spin to that franchise, so it’s going to be great.’

You know, wearing that harness and gettin’ yanked around by all those wires sure sounds like it hurts. I wonder if Shia was left with any marks on his body as a result? Fortunately, there are a couple of shirtless photos of Mr. LaBeouf that answer that question, after the jump …


Oh my. Did we know that Shia was so ripped underneath all those clothes? It looks like Shia has been spending quite a bit of time at the gym lately. He looks good, yeah?

Heidi Montag’s Mother Hits Hard Times & Blogs About It

Yesterday and today we got to know Lynn Patridge, mother of former Hills star Audrina Patridge, a little better and right now we get to learn more about fellow ex-Hills co-star Heidi Montag‘s mother Darlene Egelhoff. Darlene appeared on The Hills a few times to do battle with Spencer Pratt and was last seen on the show voicing her displeasure at all of the cosmetic surgeries Heidi had done to herself. In a new interview with Darlene, we learn that she is now totally cut off from her daughter … and broke. Darlene has been forced to take a job as a maid and launched a personal blog in order to try and reach out to her daughter:

Darlene Egelhoff, the mother of U.S. reality television personality Heidi Montag, says the recession has forced her to work as a maid. Egelhoff told TV’s “Inside Edition” she and her husband owned a restaurant for 21 years, but had to close it because of the economy. She said they have been struggling to pay their bills since and the only job she could find in Crested Butte, Colo., was cleaning houses. The celebrity mom admitted it has been awkward when a client recognizes her. “That’s been very humbling for me and I very much appreciate that experience because I don’t ever want to get full of myself and think I’m too good to do anything,” Egelhoff said. She also tearfully revealed she has not spoken to Montag in nearly nine months and doesn’t think her daughter knows what she has been going through. The mother and daughter became estranged after Egelhoff appeared on an episode of “The Hills” and showed her disappointment in Montag’s decision to undergo 10 plastic surgery procedures in one day. Egelhoff said she is so desperate to communicate with Montag she started a blog called “Metamorphosis of a Mother” hoping Montag will read it, “Inside Edition” said Thursday.

I have to say … I feel bad for Darlene. Forget that she has to find work as a maid, times are tough for a lot of people, working as a maid is honest work. What I feel bad about is how estranged she has been from her daughter because of her daughter’s lust for fame. It’s just really sad to see what reality TV does to some families. It’s very rare to hear of a story about how reality TV brings a family together … more often the case, moronic lust for quick fame on a TV show ends up ruining relationships. I’m certain she will work tirelessly to try and mend fences with her daughter … but as long as Heidi is under Spencer‘s spell, Darlene will have a long time to wait. So sad :(

‘Great’ Expectations

Last night was a quite one here at the ol’ homestead … I decided to stay in so that I could watch ABC‘s airing of It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown:


I’ve watched The Great Pumpkin every Hallowe’en for as long as I can remember … it never gets old. I know that some of y’all may have missed seeing it last night … so thankfully, ABC is reairing it tonight at 8PM. Tune in, DVR it — don’t miss out! It’s a classic.

Watching Charlie Brown reminded me of all the great Hallowe’ens of my youth and really helped get me in the spirit of the season:


We are very lucky that Hallowe’en is on Sunday this year because that gives us a 3-day Hallowe’en weekend! I’ll be going with Darion to a Heroes & Villains party tonight where I’ll wear my first of 3 costumes. Tomorrow, David and I will be joined by a gang of friends at a Masquerade Party where I’ll be rockin’ costume number 2. Sunday, we’ll be going to 2 parties around town and possibly the big West Hollywood Hallowe’en fete where I’ll be wearing costume number 3.

Alanis Morissette Takes Her Baby Bump To Beverly Hills

A fantastic-looking Alanis Morisette was spotted making her way to a friend’s home in Beverly Hills, CA yesterday giving us our latest look at her growing baby bump:


Unfortch Alanis won’t be able to celebrate Hallowe’en properly this year with her little baby … ‘cuz her little baby ain’t poppin’ out in time. Still, I hope that Alanis does something fun for Hallowe’en this year … I’d love to see her all done up in a fun costume. But, costume or not, she is lookin’ amazing with each day of her pregnancy … I can’t wait for her precious fruit of her verdant loins to come out and say hello to the world outside!

Howard K. Stern Convicted Of Illegally Conspiring To Provide Anna Nicole Smith With Drugs

Back in March of 2009 Howard K. Stern, lawyer/leech of the late Anna Nicole Smith, was arrested and charged (along with 2 of Smith‘s doctors) with conspiracy to provide Smith with drugs illegally by providing false names … yesterday, Stern was convicted of 2 of the 9 charges brought against him. As much as I would’ve loved for him to be convicted on all 9 charges, I’m at least satisfied that he was convicted at all:

Anna Nicole Smith’s boyfriend-lawyer Howard K. Stern and Dr. Khristine Eroshevich were found guilty Thursday on charges of conspiring to provide drugs using false names. Another defendant in the case, Dr. Sandeep Kapoor, was acquitted on all counts against him. “This is really a victory not just for me, but it is a victory for patients everywhere in our nation who suffer chronic pain,and physicians who treat difficult chronic pain every day,” Kapoor said outside the courthouse. The jury failed to convict any of the defendants of providing drugs to a known addict, which was the linchpin of the prosecution’s case. Stern was acquitted on seven of the nine counts he faced. “These were all the counts related to whether the medications were for a legitimate medical purpose or for whether Anna Nicole was an addict,” Stern said. “What the jury did find me guilty of were two conspiracy counts limited exclusively to my name being used on medications for Anna. This was done to protect Anna Nicole’s privacy and it was nothing more than that.” The verdicts came in a complex case that included two months of testimony and 13 days of jury deliberations. Stern’s attorney, Steve Sadow, said after the trial that the conspiracy conviction for his client was for Stern having given his consent to Eroshevich to use Stern’s name on prescriptions intended for Smith. The charges against Eroshevich, a psychiatrist who flew to Smith’s side in the Bahamas after her son’s death in 2006, were related to using Stern’s name and another woman’s name to write prescriptions for Smith. Stern and the doctors were charged with conspiring to feed the reality TV star and Playboy model’s drug addiction, and using false names to obtain the drugs over the last three years of her life. The three defendants were not charged in Smith’s February 2007 death in a Florida hotel, which a medical examiner ruled was an accidental overdose of a sleep aid combined with the effects of a viral flu.

I will forever believe that Howard K. Stern had a hand in Anna Nicole Smith‘s death and these convictions prove that fact. Stern leeched off of Anna Nicole for as long as he had his disgusting meat hooks in her and profited wildly from her exploitation … to her dying day. As I understand it, Stern faces a maximum of 3 years in prison for these convictions … and will likely not serve nearly as long. While I personally believe the scumbag needs to rot in prison for the rest of his life, I’m comforted a bit by the mere fact that a jury saw fit to label him a felon and that he will face at least some punishment for his crimes. Anna Nicole Smith was no saint but she did not deserve to go out the way that she did. If not for the influence Stern had over her life and death, she might still be living today.

Audrina Patridge’s Mother Lynn Apologizes For Her Drunken Video Rant

Yesterday we got to watch a cringe-worthy yet ENTIRELY AWESOME drunken rant caught on video by Audrina Patridge‘s mother Lynn shortly after Audrina was eliminated from this season’s Dancing with the Stars competition. As you may recall, Mama Lynn was very forthcoming with her feelings about Audrina‘s elimination … as well as her belief that Audrina‘s former castmates on The Hills are “tramps” and that Hills star Lauren LC Conrad, especially, is a “bitch”. Today, we are hearing from Lynn Patridge again … but this time she is sober and extremely apologetic for the things she said in the heat of her drunkenness:

“I was extremely emotional after her elimination – it just came as such a shock,” Lynn says. “I want to apologize for offending anyone.” Lynn, who admitted she had been drinking, unloaded on the dance show and took shots at her daughter’s former Hills castmates in her diatribe Wednesday outside the Hollywood hotspot Beso. “I am sincerely sorry for the negative things I said in the heat of the moment,” Lynn says. “As a mother, there is no pain in this world like seeing your children upset. I am so proud of my daughter and all she has accomplished on Dancing with the Stars.”

Aww … yeah … poor mama Patridge. It’s clear that she was fully loaded when she unleashed her colorful commentary on that rant video but, you gotta admit … that shizz was funny as Hell. I sincerely doubt that anyone was seriously offended by what she said … if anything, they were prolly more sympathetic to Audrina who was, undoubtedly, so horribly embarrassed by her mother’s actions. But, just for fun, why don’t we take another look at Lynn Patridge‘s drunken video rant one more time to be reminded of what she’s so sorry for today. Check it out, one more time, after the jump …


Seriously … embarrassing or not, Lynn Patridge is a star. If someone doesn’t give this woman her own TV show, they’ll totally be missing out. I think I’d be really interested in watching Lynn Patridge star in a show titled Shit My Drunk Mom Says ;)

Mariah Carey & Nick Cannon Share Personal Baby Details With ‘Access Hollywood’

Yesterday we learned the EXCITING news that happily marrieds Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon are PREGS with their first child together! The couple made the joint announcement on The Today Show but, in fact, sat down with Access Hollywood for a 3-part interview about their happy news. In yesterday’s announcement, we learned that the couple suffered a miscarriage a couple of years ago and in the second part of their Access Hollywood interview, they opened up about the sad details of that loss:


According to the couple, they first got pregnant right before their annual Xmas trip to Aspen, CO (where Mariah has been spending her Xmases for many years now) and learned of their miscarriage on the day they were due to fly out for the holidays. You may recall we saw photos of the couple lookin’ happy and bright … but now we know they were dealing with a terribly sad loss. I can’t even imagine the strength and fortitude to requires to handle a loss like that … but the happy news that they are pregnant now prollly goes a long way to heal those old wounds. It’s really sad to hear that the couple went thru a “dark” place but the fact that they found strength in each other and became closer is, I suppose, the only silver lining of such a dark cloud. Again, I couldn’t be happier that Mimi and Nick are pregnant now … I wish them nothing but the happiest and healthiest days ahead. I can’t wait to meet the little princess or prince that will spring forth from Mariah Carey‘s fruitful loins!

Céline Dion Reveals The Names Of Her Newborn Twin Boys

Over the weekend we learned the happy news that singer Céline Dion and her hubby René Angélil became the parents of a pair of healthy twin baby boys and just yesterday we learned that Céline and René were able to take their new sons home with them. Today we learn that Céline has finally settled on what to name her children … which was no small task apparently. Céline‘s baby name list included 15,000 names … but in the end, she settled on Nelson and Eddy:

Five days after their arrival, Celine Dion has finally settled on names for her twin boys. The singer, who said earlier this week that she’d considered ‘nearly 15,000 names and nothing has stuck’, has called the newborns Nelson and Eddy. Celine and husband René Angelil took inspiration from Nelson Mandela, whom the 42-year-old met in 2008 while on tour in South Africa. ‘René said that in just the few minutes they were able to spend with him, they were impressed by the human being he is,’ a spokesperson for the couple said. Eddy is named after Eddy Marnay, who produced the singer’s first five records. ‘He was like a father to her,’ the spokesperson adds. ‘Eddy is a major influence in both Céline and René’s lives.’ Celine told French magazine Gala that the couple’s 9-year-old son René-Charles had a say in the decision. ‘Because René-Charles goes to school in the United States, he's suggested English first names,’ she says. ‘My mother, on the other hand, has been hinting about very French first names and we're going a little bit crazy trying to decide’ … Celine gave birth to the fraternal twins on Saturday at St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach, Florida. The couple had been trying to conceive for years and underwent six attempts at IVF in 12 months.

Well, at least the names individually are nice and normal … that’s good. But together, Nelson and Eddy sounds like a one-hit wonder pop group from the early 90s. Still … I couldn’t be happier for Céline and René. It was very clear how badly they wanted to have another child … and now they have two new babies. I can’t wait to see what little Nelson and Eddy look like :D
