Ciara Gets Busy In The Bathroom + Sherri Shepherd Debuts "The Newlywed Game"

Posted: 29 Oct 2010 07:21 AM PDT

Ciara doesn't need an office to conduct her business.  She can get it popping in the bathroom.  See what biz she was handling in the powder room, plus get the deets on her album and Sherri Shepherd's new game show "The Newlywed Game" inside....

An aspiring singer auditioned for Ciara right in the middle of the ladies' room at Lord & Taylor during a party benefiting VH1's Save the Music Foundation.  The foundation's students performed on several different floors as Ciara was ushered from floor to floor.  When Ciara noticed an upset student who really wanted to perform for her, a witness reports, "Ciara took her into a nearby bathroom for a one-on-one performance of 'Over the Rainbow.

Ciara then offered the youngster some words of wisdom.  No info on whether the student will make the cut of Ciara's new album Basic Instinct.

And about the album...for fans who think Ciara got glam and changed her style, as she said in the "Gimme Dat" video, she's back to take her self-claimed "crown".

"I got to the point where I was like 'where are my sneakers? I haven't worn my sneakers in a while!' It's a lot of elements that I had in the beginning but at the same time I'm showing my growth. Most importantly I want my fans to walk away satisfied and this album is all about them."

After the low sales of her last effort, Fantasy Ride, it makes sense that Ciara would go back to the old but keep bringing the new.

"As a woman my perspective on things has grown tremendously," Ciara says. "The way that I look at things, the way that I approach them, my confidence is stronger than ever. With this [album] it's about me trusting my basic instinct. I'm at a place in my career when I can really trust my first gut feeling just with everything. That's another thing that is also been a part of me evolving as a woman and as an artist over the years, I'm way more comfortable in my environment now.

I'm [more] comfortable in my skin. A lot of [my confidence is] natural but at the same time in the music industry it can be very aggressive, you gotta' be prepared you know? It kinda' forces you to grow up faster than if I was doing a normal 9-5. It's a really, really aggressive world within music and I feel like that has helped me to grow as well."

Ciara is keeping the guest list to a minimum this time.  Aside from the Dream and Ludacris, it's all about her developing as a woman and artist.

"The beauty of music is that it allows you to express yourself and paint a picture. I've really approached things differently than I did with a lot of my records. I let Dream also be a part of laying my foundation and I 'm not afraid to say that because anybody will tell you that the way that I've written my records over the years is definitely different than the way that I've approached these records.

I wanted fresh energy and having Tricky and Dream, and Dream in particular, allowed some of the lyrics to be a little bit different than in my past. So he may make a story from something that I'm going through, [some of the music] was definitely [from] some personal experiences, some things that happen around me...things that inspire me. I get inspired from many different places. It just depends on the day."

Ciara's new album Basic Instinct drops on December 14.

Fans of Sherri Shepherd can catch her in the daytime twice this fall. "The View" co-host will also host  "The Newlywed Game" for its fourth season on the GSN channel in November.

"Who does not love `The Newlywed Game'?" Sherri asked.  "I've been a fan since I was young, when my grandma would have soap operas on one TV and `Newlywed Game' on another."

Production on "The Newlywed Game" is moving from Los Angeles to New York, where Sherri also tapes ABC's "The View." She said she doesn't foresee any problem balancing work on the two daily shows and sees "The Newlywed Game" as providing a welcome change.

"I love to work. If I'm not working, I'm going to get pregnant," joked Sherri, who has a 5-year-old son. I get to have fun. I'm not going to be arguing with anybody about whether we should pull the troops out of Afghanistan."

A very busy chick, she is also completing work on One for the Money, a film starring Katherine Heigl and based on the Janet Evanovich novel, and will be back on NBC's "30 Rock" in the recurring role of feisty Angie Jordan, wife of her good friend Tracy Jordan (Tracy Morgan).

"The Newlywed Game," first debuted in the 1960s with host Bob Eubanks, gives three couples the chance to win prizes by showing how much each knows about their new spouse.

SPORTS FAB: Carmelo STILL Wants Out Of Denver

Posted: 29 Oct 2010 05:36 AM PDT

After one of the biggest off-season's in NBA history, Carmelo Anthony is still trying to get out of Denver. Find out his comments after their first game plus the teams he may go to when you read on...

Although the Denver Nuggets dominated the Utah Jazz in their season opener, Melo still had negative comments to say about the team. After the victory, Carmelo told reporters,

"They want to sit down and talk, but my thing is it’s way beyond this year, it ain’t got nothing to do with the new GM, (president) Josh (Kroenke), the players. For me, I feel it’s a time for change. If I do nothing now, I’m never going to do anything. I feel like my time is now to make a decision if I want to leave or if I want to stay.”

The Nuggets offered Carmelo a three year extension worth $64 mil in June, but Melo is still refusing this offer. Last month the New Jersey Nets were close to getting Carmelo in a four way trade, but the Nuggets failed to go through. The Knicks, with the help of Spike Lee, are also very interested in acquiring Carmelo.

Carmelo is very interested in signing with the Knicks, which he would be able to do in the next off-season. However, a trade is still possible. Last season, Melo averaged 28 points and 6 rebounds a game. The Nuggets lost in the first round of the playoffs.

Refusing $64 mill?  Looks like Melo and his new wife Lala are itching to get closer to their NY home...

Where do you think Carmelo should go?

Jay-Z Regrets Past Misogynistic Lyrics

Posted: 28 Oct 2010 01:22 PM PDT

As the release date of his new book Decoded approaches, Jay-Z had some interesting things to say about reflecting on his past lyrics and how he rapped about women.  Find out how his thinking has shifted inside...

While working on his new book, "Decoded" in which the lyrics to his songs are printed out and explained, Jay-Z admits he regrets his songs that didn't present women...or his opinion of them...in the best light.

"Some [lyrics] become really profound when you see them in writing. Not 'Big Pimpin.' That's the exception.  It was like, I can't believe I said that. And kept saying it. What kind of animal would say this sort of thing? Reading it is really harsh."

The lyrics to that track mainly talked about him having women sexually available to him at all times, something he has abandoned since marrying Beyonce in 2008.

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Jay-Z said,

"We have to find our way back to true emotion. This is going to sound so sappy, but love is the only thing that stands the test of time.  The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill was all about love. Andre 3000, The Love Below.  Even N.W.A, at its core -- that was about love for a neighborhood."

I see his point.

He also said he'd like to hear more about the real challenges facing people today, like the housing crisis and unemployment.  Remember the time before gangsta rap when Public Enemy was the CNN for black people? That's what Jay's talking about.  And he cites hip-hop's efforts to help Barack Obama elected as proof the community can help foster social change.

"Whether he does a great job or not is almost secondary to what it did for the dreams and the hopes of an entire race.  Just based on that alone, it's a success -- the biggest we've had. ... It's Martin Luther King's dream realized. Tangible. In the flesh. You can shake his hand."

Decoded, which was co-authored by writer-filmmaker Dream Hampton, will be released on November 16th.

Rihanna Talks Chris Brown Again In Marie Claire UK

Posted: 28 Oct 2010 12:47 PM PDT

We already posted the pics of Rihanna in the upcoming issue of Marie Claire UK's December edition. More on her interview when you read on...

In the new issue, Rihanna is talking about the whole Chris Brown situation again. She talks about how hard it was to deal after the 'incident'.

Some quotes from the interview:

“You just lose touch of everything that you love and everything that you would normally do; how you would dress or how you would say something. It just feels like it’s not coming from you. It’s just this one empty vase. I felt like an empty vessel.“

“Eventually, I remember waking up one day and I knew I was over it, one day. I remember I was in New York at the Trump Hotel and I woke up and I just knew I was over it. I needed that wake-up call in my life. I needed a turning point, and that’s what God was giving to me.”

"All this terrible stuff they say to you, it breaks you down,[But] once you’re back on your feet – if you ever make it back on your feet – that’s the ultimate achievement"

She also speaks on her new boy toy Matt Kemp.

"I feel like I smile for real this time. The smiles come from inside, and it exudes in everything I do. People feel my energy is different. When I smile they can tell that it’s pure bliss and not just a cover up"

Hmmm.  Glad both of them have moved onwards and upwards...

Travie McCoy Arrested In Germany!

Posted: 28 Oct 2010 12:30 PM PDT

Travie McCoy was arrested in Germany after spray painting a historic landmark. Find out the deets plus he's tweets about the incident when you read on...

Hip-hop star Travie McCoy got arrested yesterday in Berlin, Germany for putting graffiti on the historic Berlin Wall. Before the police arrested him, he posted pictures of his artwork.

Travie was released on $100K bail and is performing in Amsterdam tonight.

I'm all for expressing yourself through artwork, but spray painting the Berlin Wall just doesn't make any sense.  And getting arrested abroad has mad potential to turn out real crazy for you.  Dude got lucky....

RUN IT: Shaun Robinson VS. Brandy

Posted: 28 Oct 2010 11:46 AM PDT

Shaun Robinson and Brandy rocked the same gorgeous Nicole Miller gown at recent events.

Decide who rocked it best when you read on...

Brandy rocked this amazing white and rouched bodice Nicole Miller gown to the 32nd Annual Carousel Of Hope Ball last week.  And she paired slingbacks and long wavy tresses with her look.  Along with a gold clutch and stunning earrings and a sparkling bracelet.

But Shaun Robinson rocked it first at the BLUE Scholarship Gala to benefit Spelman College back in April.  She rocked an up-do and sandals to complete her look.  And kept her accessories to a minimum with a sinlge cocktail ring and drop diamond earrings.

So...

WHO RAN IT?!

VIDEO FAB: T.I.'s "Ya Hear Me" + Diddy & Dirty Money Ft. Drake "Loving You No More" + Nicki Minaj At "106 & Park"

Posted: 28 Oct 2010 10:43 AM PDT

T.I. might be on his way to jail but if it's one thing Lil' Wayne has taught us, it's that the music keeps coming.  Check out new videos from T.I. and Diddy/Dirty Money ft. Drake when you go inside plus flicks of Nicki Minaj from her visit to "106 & Park"...

"Ya Hear Me" is likely one of T.I.'s last videos to drop before he heads back to prison. It's a simple performance clip, with TIP rocking out with a rock band.  The single is from his still-unscheduled release of his long-delayed next LP (formerly called King Uncaged, since changed to No Mercy).

Diddy and Dirty Money have released a video for their collabo with Drake called "Loving You No More."  The song is pretty good.  Here's the video:

Nicki Minaj stopped by "106 & Park" recently to debut her new video and we have a few candids...

Nicki getting ready for her close-up.

Dude's expression is priceless.

Nicki really seems to love her fans. I'm not prepared for all the Barbies that'll be walking the Halloween streets this weekend though....
