Jane Lynch Does ‘More’ Magazine

Posted: 23 Oct 2010 01:13 PM PDT

Earlier this week a few Glee castmembers caused quite a stir with their racy photospread in the new issue of GQ magazine and today we learn that fellow Glee castmate Jane Lynch is trying to get in on the fun. Jane is featured in the new issue of More magazine and in one of her photos, she is surrounded by scantily clad men … but before we get to that, let’s check out Jane Lynch on the cover of More magazine:

Always one to one-up the kids of McKinley High in her role as Sue Sylvester, Glee star Jane Lynch didn’t pass up the opportunity to show the world what those stuffy sweatsuits on the show cover up. While she may not be posing panty-clad next to a locker, like Lea Michele, or rocking a skimpy school uniform, like Dianna Agron, Lynch does prove in a photoshoot for More magazine that she can get racy, too. The actress, 50, dons a leopard print ensemble in one picture and cozies up to a furry friend in another, all the while sharing the tongue-in-cheek photo-op with hunky, half-naked men. But Glee’s Cheerios coach has a serious side, as she reveals in an accompanying interview. She has been sober for nearly 10 years after she decided to ditch her “drinking culture” roots when she was 31. Although she says her problem was mild, she says she was sick of waking up hungover. “Relatively speaking, my personal bottom was rather benign,” she says. She’d joke at 12-step meetings, “Had I know I’d be telling my story over and over again, I would have made it a lot better.” The actress is settling down with her wife, psychologist Lara Embry, whom she met last year at a lesbian rights fundraiser.

So … wanna see Jane surrounded by a group of half-nekkid men? Check out the photo, after the jump …

What’s really shocking about the photo of Jane with the scantily-clad men is that she is surrounded by scantily-clad men. As an openly gay woman, why not surround her with scantily-clad women? Why is More magazine trying to present Jane as a heterosexual woman being attended by mostly nekkid men when she openly talks about her homosexuality in the accompanying interview? I’m not sure I understand. HMMMM.

Blame It On The Devil

Posted: 23 Oct 2010 12:58 PM PDT

It is with a very heavy heart that I must report … Paranormal Activity 2 is a terrible movie. Believe me, no one is more bummed about this fact than I am. I LOVED the original film so much, I was really hoping the sequel would be just as good. Actually, the sequel didn’t even have to be as good … I just wanted it to be good. Alas, it is not good … at all:

I shant spoil anything about the film to those of you who want to see this film so I’ll keep my very spoilery comments behind the cut. I will say here, tho, that I am very surprised by some of the good reviews that I read and mislead me to believe the film was good. There are many things about the film that make it almost unwatchable, paramount among them is bad acting. But the writing is also terrible and the premise, OMG, it’s so dumb I can’t even believe they decided to go with it. If you want to find out what I’m talking about, read on — after the jump …

Okay … so … it’s all the Devil’s fault. Yes, blame it on the Devil. In Paranormal Activity 2, we meet the sister of Katie (star of the first film) and find out that her family is being haunted by a “demon” because — get this — her family made a deal with the Devil for riches and now it’s time to pay with the firstborn son from the family line (that would be the little boy in PA2). As soon as this plot point was made clear to me, I totally checked out. Blaming the Devil … are you KIDDING ME?! LOL … I can’t even. PA2 is actually a prequel to the original film as most of the plot of PA2 takes place before PA. Absent the whole Devil thing, the acting and writing is just horrendous. The lead actor, the guy who plays the father, is SO unwatchable in this film … I couldn’t even stand it. The wife, Katie‘s sister, was ok … the daughter was the best actor of the bunch. There are a few scary, jump out of your seat moments but they do not make the movie worth seeing, IMHO. Paranormal Activity worked so well because it was new, fresh and made with heart. Paranormal 2 just suffers from pretty much everything that makes a bad movie bad. UGH and the ending … I can’t. It’s all just so disappointing … I was really looking forward to loving this movie.

Plans for tonight … David and I are planning to hang out with Tam, Ollie, Rob and Caleb who we haven’t seen in ages! We miss those guys so much, we’re way overdue for a hangout session. Happy Weekend, Happy Saturday!

The US Version Of ‘Skins’ Releases A Second Video Trailer

Posted: 23 Oct 2010 11:52 AM PDT

Yesterday we got our first look at the first teaser trailer for the new MTV remake of the fantastic UK teen drama Skins … and today we get to check out another trailer for the series. It turns out that the PR team for the US version of Skins has decided to use “negative” comments about the show to their advantage in their promo materials … and a comment that I made about the show has been used in one of their promo photos:

Regarding this comment, I believe the message I was trying to convey was that it is my hope that this US version is not a “poor imitation” of the original … but I kinda love that the PR folks behind this new version of Skins is using the negativity to their advantage. As I’ve tried to make clear many times, I am such a big fan of the original series that I can’t help but be skeptical of a US version of the show. That being said, it’s really clear that the target audience for this new version is the audience that is NOT familiar with the original series (ie. 98% of the US audience). It is of some comfort that the Skins creator and some writers are involved in the US version so … well, we’ll just have to see. After the jump, check out the second trailer for the US version of Skins and see if you prefer this trailer to the one we saw yesterday …

As I understand it, full scripts and storylines from the original UK series will be retold in this new US version … with some names, genders and slang changed for the American audience. I think the only way to judge the series on its own is to evaluate it as a separate entity from the original version … which will be difficult to do for those who are familiar with the original. But, remember, the US version of The Office recycled characters and storylines from the original UK version and that show went on to be a hit. I’m still worried about this new version but, in the end, having a US version of the series DOES NOTHING to hinder one’s enjoyment of the original UK series. Season 5 of the UK version of Skins will begin airing next year … and a Skins movie is also due out next year. I’m gonna do my best to try and separate the US version from the UK version and judge it on its own merits. This second trailer looks pretty cool actually … let’s see how the series turns out before we totally dismiss it entirely.

Peace The Spork Out, Sony Walkman

Posted: 23 Oct 2010 11:29 AM PDT

Very sad news for tech geeks to pass along today … Sony has announced that it will no longer produce their iconic Walkman portable cassette stereos after the current batch of gadgets sells out. Despite the fact that the Apple iPod has pretty much become THE standard in portable music players in recent years, the Sony Walkman will forever remain, IMHO, the most important portable music player of all time. I gotta say … I’m really sad to see the Walkman die :(

After more than 30 years of producing its Walkman portable cassette players, Sony said it’s ending sales of the Walkman. The final batch was produced in Japan in April, and no more will be produced as soon as the current run is sold out. Just over 200 million cassette Walkman players have been sold over the years since being first introduced in 1979. Sony will continue to make and sell CD- and MiniDisc-based Walkmans, as well as its latest flash-based devices. Cloned but Sony-branded Walkmans will continue to be made by Chinese makers in Asia and the Middle East. The Walkman is widely credited with pioneering the concept of personal, portable audio beyond the radio. It helped spur on the cassette as a popular format and also maintained interest in albums. Interest only began to fade in the 1990s when the Discman took over, and saw a more definite end when the iPod was in sight.

It makes sense that Sony would discontinue production of their portable cassette players, especially since cassettes will very soon be extinct themselves … but … this is still really sad news. I remember when I got my first Sony Walkman back in the mid-80s … man, I loved that thing so much. My favorite memories include me riding around the block on my bike with my Sony Walkman strapped to my waist as I listened to Madonna, Prince, Stacey Q, Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam … man, those were the good ol’ days. The Sony Walkman was just as popular at the time as the Apple iPod is today … but, alas, it’s natural that the old has to make way for the new. At least Sony is keeping the “Walkman” name alive with it’s CD and MP3 players but, in all honesty, they aren’t true Walkman devices. I’ll miss the real Sony Walkman … especially since it feels like a part of my childhood has just died :(

A Bespectacled David Beckham Goes On A Solo Shopping Excursion

Posted: 23 Oct 2010 11:15 AM PDT

On Thursday we got to see a hot photo of David Beckham rockin’ a pair of sunglasses from wife Victoria Beckham‘s new collection and today we get to see new photos of a bespectacled Becks doing a bit of solo shopping here in SoCal. Apparently, Becks was feeling blue … so he decided to dress the part:

He’s got one of the most recognisable smiles in the world. But David Beckham looked anything but happy yesterday as he went shopping in Beverly Hills. The footballer had a distinctly glum expression on his face as he visited the Ralph Lauren store alone, spending a good few hours inside before leaving with just one bag. It’s not clear whether he was shopping for himself or for wife Victoria, but whatever he bought it took him a long time to choose. The 35-year-old was dressed head to toe in blue, from his woolly hat down to his trainers. And he topped off his look with a pair of very trendy black-framed glasses. David might have been feeling a bit down because the usually-beautiful weather in Los Angeles has been mostly cold and rainy for the last week or so.

I’m not gonna lie, the crappy/rainy weather here in SoCal has made me feel blue all week long as well. I can’t say that I blame Becks for lookin’ so bummed … I’ve been kinda down in the dumps, too. Still, even tho Becks was lookin’ so blue (literally and figuratively) he still makes it look hot, don’t he? I think I’m kinda loving his nerdy glasses, too. HMMM. What do y’all think … is it a good look for him?

Pauly ‘Pauly D’ Delvecchio Pays A Visit To Walt Disney World

Posted: 23 Oct 2010 10:23 AM PDT

Pauly Paully D Delvecchio from MTV‘s Jersey Shore took a break from his bizzy GTL schedule to pay a visit to the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL this week to do a bit of fist pumpin’ with Goofy and announce that he will be DJing the big Disney Grad Night 2011 party next year … here are a few cute photos:

It is most people’s childhood dream – to meet one of the Disney characters. But Jersey Shore star Pauly D got to take it to another level yesterday and gave kids’ favourite, Goofy a lesson in how to be a true ‘Guido.’ The 27-year-old DJ spent some time with Mickey’s best friend whilst at the Magic Kingdom in Orlando, Florida, and even taught the over-sized animal how to fist pump. Pauly D, real name Paul Delvecchio, was at the Walt Disney World theme park to announce his involvement as one of the featured performers for Disney Grad Nite 2011. The show is a private, after-hours party at the Magic Kingdom in April and May 2011 for high school seniors from across the country. He will serve as the party’s featured DJ, and headline the graduation celebration alongside UK-born R&B singer Taio Cruz and pop duo 3OH!3. After the announcement, Pauly D spent some time enjoying the park’s rides and attractions with a group of friends. The theme park visit and subsequent announcement came just the day after the season two finale for the hit MTV show aired on U.S. television. Jersey Shore has been the number one show for the network since the season started in September.

While most of the Jersey Shore cast grates on my nerves, I have to say … Pauly D is the most chill, most likable member of the cast. I LOVE that the Disney Grad Night shirts for 2011 will say “It’s T-Shirt Time” on them … brilliant. You gotta admit, now that Pauly D is being treated like royalty at Disney World … he’s kind of a baller. It sounds like Pauly is pretty impressed with meeting Goofy as well.

Neil Patrick Harris Shares A ‘Baby Pic’ On Twitter

Posted: 23 Oct 2010 09:33 AM PDT

Last week new daddy Neil Patrick Harris announced to the world on his official Twitter profile that he and partner David Burtka were the proud new parents of their twin children Gideon Scott and Harper Grace born via surrogate mother. Last night, NPH tweeted a message along with a “baby pic” photo:

Could it be? Is this the way that NPH and David want to introduce their children to the world? Check out the photo after the jump and see for yourselves …

Boo! No actual baby pic … but I am glad that NPH did NOT post a photo of a poopy diaper. I’m telling you, there is no way that we are gonna see these babies until they show up on the cover of People magazine or some other celeb-friendly mag. The price that the fam will be paid for the photos alone will ensure that the twins’ college funds get off to a very nice start. It’s unclear where the photo of Neil above was taken but judging by the hieroglyphs alone on the wall behind him, he’s either inside King Tut‘s tomb … or a fancy suite at the Luxor Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV. HMMM … I wonder where the babies are. I wonder how long until we actually get to meet them.
