Alien Prequel Dead

Posted: 16 Jan 2011 12:20 PM PST

alien-prequel-is-dead.jpg

Sorry Alien fans. The prequel is dead.

Fox has announced that instead of making the Alien prequel, they will be reconfiguring the Ridley Scott project into an original sci-fi movie, titled Prometheus.

Noomi Rapace is set to star in the film - which has a March 9, 2012 release date.

Damon Lindelof, who co-created Lost, will work with Scott on the new script.

Ooooh, we like that!

Scott explained how the new movie idea came to happen:

"While Alien was indeed the jumping off point for this project, out of the creative process evolved a new, grand mythology and universe in which this original story takes place. The keen fan will recognize strands of Alien's DNA, so to speak, but the ideas tackled in this film are unique, large and provocative. I couldn't be more pleased to have found the singular tale I'd been searching for, and finally return to this genre that's so close to my heart."

This seems like a better idea, actually. Hollywood needs fresh ideas and even though Alien has a built-in audience, this new movie could be amazing.

Thoughts??

What in the world is going on in this picture???

We can only imagine!!

Warner Bros. released the first photo from the Hangover 2, starring Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, and Zach Galifianakis. After reading the sequel's description, we know this movie will provide the LOLs:

"[The gang] travels to exotic Thailand for Stu's wedding. After the unforgettable bachelor party in Las Vegas, Stu is taking no chances and has opted for a safe, subdued pre-wedding brunch. However, things don't always go as planned. What happens in Vegas may stay in Vegas, but what happens in Bangkok can't even be imagined."

Excited?

Rough start to 2011.

Earlier this month, former talk show host Montel Williams was cited at an airport for possession of drug paraphernalia - a pipe he uses to smoke his medical marijuana.

And now he's been hit with a $1 million federal tax lien.

According to IRS documents in New York City, Montel and his wife Tara Fowler owe for years 2008 and 2009, for a total of $1,039,609.41.

That's a lot of dough.

If only Sylvia Browne could have predicted this.

Well deserved!

Dame Julie Andrews will receive the lifetime achievement award at this year's Grammy Awards.

She previously won a Grammy in 1964 for best recording for children for her role in Mary Poppins.

So sweet!

Dolly Parton and The Ramones will also be honored at the ceremony.

President of The Recording Academy, Neil Portnow, says:

"These influential performers and brilliant innovators have been of great inspiration to our culture and industry. Their legendary work has left a lasting impression and will continue to influence generations to come"

With a career spanning over 60 years, we couldn't think of a better recipient of the awards. Congratulations to Miz Andrews!

Debbie Gibson Thinks Justin Bieber's "Taking On Too Much Too Soon"

Sounds like someone is a little jealous!

'80s pop princess Debbie Gibson is warning Justin Bieber to slow things down because he will "lose his sanity" if he doesn't stay grounded.

Being a former teen sensation, Debbie had some pearls of wisdom for Justin:

"It's too much too soon. People have to remember even though a kid can be wise beyond their years professionally and can handle showbiz, emotionally you're not developed.

Somebody has got to remember that Justin is 16. You go through things when you experience that kind of success young. If I could get all these kids in a room, I'd tell them you're not superhuman. If you need to take a week off, take a week off. Everybody makes you think the world will end and it won't. If you say no, you save your sanity later."

Hmm, we don't recall Justin asking for advice. However, Debbie is coming from experience, so maybe she does have a point.

DirecTV Considering Airing The Kennedys

There's still hope for The Kennedys miniseries!

After The History Channel decided to not air the 8-part miniseries and Showtime rejected it, sources say that DirecTV is in talks to possibly pick up the project, starring Katie Holmes and Greg Kinnear, and air it on its Channel 101.

This wouldn't be a first for DirecTV. They also saved NBC's Friday Night Lights and FX's Damages after they were on the brink of cancelation.

The company is not part of a major studio, such as Disney or NBC - which owns The History Channel - so this could be a very good sign for The Kennedys.

After all the recent publicity of the movie, we bet it'll get pretty good ratings no matter where it's shown.

Will U watch??

The Social Network Takes Best Picture At Critics' Choice Awards

If this film doesn't get the Oscar for Best Picture, we'll be shocked!

The Social Network won yet another award, taking the top critics' award for best film of 2010 at the Critics Choice Movie Awards on Friday night.

The film took four awards, winning Best Picture, Best Director to David Fincher, Best Adapted Screenplay to Aaron Sorkin, and Best Score to Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.

Wowsa!

As for the best actor categories, Colin Firth took home the Best Actor award for The King's Speech and Natalie Portman took away the Best Actress award for Black Swan.

Christian Bale won Best Supporting Actor and his Fighter co-star Melissa Leo took the award for Best Supporting Actress. In fact, the entire cast received the award for Best Acting Ensemble.

The race to the Oscars is definitely on - and with The Social Network picking up awards left and right, it's most likely to win big at the Academy Awards.

Congrats to all the winners!

P.S. Natalie Portman, Christian Bale and the entire cast of The Fighter SO deserved those wins!!
