‘X-Men: First Class’ Release 2 New Movie Promo Posters

Posted: 20 Apr 2011 03:00 PM PDT

You know, the promo materials for X-Men: First Class have really been hit or miss. One day, like yesterday, we get to check out a super-cool promo image from the film. The next day, like today, we get a couple of movie posters that look SO terrible that it’s hard to believe they are genuine studio-released posters. Check out 2 new promo posters for X-Men: First Class — one domestic and one international — and see which one you hate less.

When is a sequel not a sequel? When it is a prequel, of course. If this summer’s X-Men: First Class proves successful for Fox, the studio will be more than happy to move ahead with another installment of 1960′s-set mutant happenings, and we’ll be looking at a sequel to a prequel; a pre-sequel or a se-prequel. In fact, if the proposed First Class trilogy happens, the X-Men prequel films will outnumber those in the original timeline, since X-Men Origins: Wolverine was also a prequel. Strange times. Anyways, two new international posters for the next round of mutant action have hit, and they features much of our the new ensemble, with James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender leading the way. The first poster debuted at Empire. Poor Lucas Till as Havoc, hanging out in the very back while sexy ladies Rose Byrne and January Jones, playing Dr. Moira McTaggert and The White Queen, get their strut on in the middle ground. Still, at least Till made the poster; Banshee, played by Caleb Landry Jones, was not so lucky. There’s Nicholas Hoult looking blue as Beast over on the left, with Kevin Bacon’s villainous Sebastian Shaw looking debonair over on the right. The winged lady behind him is Zoe Kravitz as Angel Salvadore, and the devilish gentleman in front of her is Azazel, played by Jason Flemyng. And here’s the second poster, which debuted at Comingsoon. It deletes several characters, but adds the Blackbird jet and some missiles. Matthew Vaughn takes a crack at the X-franchise with X-Men: First Class on June 3rd.

Fail Fail Fail!! Who the Hell do they have making these posters?! These posters are almost as bad as those horrid shadow posters of Professor X and Magneto that we saw last month. The promo images have been ace, the promo posters have mostly been crap (tho, I do still really like THESE reflection posters released in early March). In the end, none of this promo stuff will matter if the film turns out to be good (and I am PRAYING that it does) but I cannot see how marketing people think these kinds of cheap-looking posters will draw in audiences. What do y’all think? Do you love or loathe these new posters?

Nicole Richie & Joel Madden Have Some Cool Kids

Posted: 20 Apr 2011 02:00 PM PDT

Yesterday we got to see a supercute tour video that mama Nicole Richie put together of her family on the road with daddy Joel Madden‘s band Good Charlotte. Today we get to see new photos of Nic and her kiddies Harlow Winter Kate and Sparrow James Midnight as they ventured out onto the streets of SoCal lookin’ about as cool as can be. Altho Harlow and Sparrow are still wee little tykes, it’s very clear that they are among the coolest celebrity kids in Hollywood.

Nicole Richie’s children are quickly following in the footsteps of their parent’s rocker chic style. Accompanying their 29-year-old mother to dinner at a Chinese restaurant in Hollywood today, Harlow, three, and 18-month-old Sparrow where the essence of kiddie cool. The tiny tots slipped into some trendy outfits for the evening outing. Little Harlow emulated her mother’s favoured bohemian style in a hippie style floral skirt and a blue tank top, paired with adorable pink ballet flats. Sparrow on the other hand appeared that he was taking on his father Joel Madden’s rocker vibe in an all-black ensemble consisting of a t-shirt, jeans and vest. He paired the look with some skater style trainers and red sunglasses perched on his head. At one point Sparrow took crayons out his mother’s hand so he could draw fake tattoos on his skin, much like his father who is covered in the real deal. His sister also sported a butterfly design on her arm.

I can’t even with the adorableness of these kids. Harlow and Sparrow are the spitting images of their cool parents. Families don’t get more perfect than the Richie/Maddens. Will you PLEASE look at Sparrow‘s little sleeveless shirt and fake tattoos? It’s just to die for adorable. Harlow looks like the perfect Little Miss … with the right amount of attitude. Cute Cute Cute! Nic/Joel make themselves some adorable kids … I wonder if they’ve got plans to have more. HMMMMM.

Guess Who Is Returning To ‘Glee’

Posted: 20 Apr 2011 01:00 PM PDT

Glee star Lea Michele posted a cute photo on her official Twitter profile yesterday announcing the return of a former Glee actor to the show. Lea tweeted, Look who’s baaack… :) as the caption for the photo. With the prom episode of Glee coming up as well as the season finale, it makes sense that this actor would return to the show. Can you guess who it is? Find out if you’re right below.

Aww … that’s right!! Lea‘s old Spring Awakening co-star Jonathan Groff is returning to Glee … but in what capacity? Will he cause trouble at the prom? Will he attend as an invited guest? Will he feature in the big season finale? Is he joining the cast for good? The mind boggles at all of the possibilities. What do YOU think Groff is doing back on the show? Are you happy to see him return?

Marion Cotillard & Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s Roles In ‘The Dark Knight’ Rises Have Been Revealed

Posted: 20 Apr 2011 12:00 PM PDT

Remember how excited we were to learn that both Marion Cotillard and Joseph Gordon-Levitt had been reportedly cast in the upcoming Batman sequel film The Dark Knight Rises? Remember how rumors started to swirl that claimed that Cotillard might play Talia Al’Ghul and Gordon-Levitt might play Black Mask (or some other equally cool, underground Batman villain)? Yeah, well it turns out that those rumors were COMPLETELY wrong … because according to a new press release about the film, Cotillard will play a boring executive and Gordon-Levitt will play an equally boring police officer. Yawn!

Warner Bros. Pictures announced today that Oscar® winner Marion Cotillard ("La Vie en Rose") and Joseph Gordon-Levitt have joined the cast of "The Dark Knight Rises," the epic conclusion to the Dark Knight legend. Cotillard will appear as Miranda Tate, a Wayne Enterprises board member eager to help a still-grieving Bruce Wayne resume his father's philanthropic endeavors for Gotham. Gordon-Levitt will play John Blake, a Gotham City beat cop assigned to special duty under the command of Commissioner Gordon. The film reunites the actors with Christopher Nolan, who recently directed them in the award-winning blockbuster "Inception." The director stated, "When you collaborate with people as talented as Marion and Joe, it comes as no surprise that you would want to repeat the experience. I immediately thought of them for the roles of Miranda and Blake, and I am looking forward to working with both of them again." Heading the cast of "The Dark Knight Rises," Christian Bale stars as Bruce Wayne/Batman. The main cast also includes Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle and Tom Hardy as Bane. Nolan will direct the film from a screenplay he wrote with Jonathan Nolan, from a story by Christopher Nolan and David S. Goyer. Christopher Nolan will also produce the film with his longtime producing partner, Emma Thomas, and Charles Roven. "The Dark Knight Rises" is slated for release on July 20, 2012.

BO-RING! Unless these characters will turn out to be nefarious villains in the course of the movie, this has to be the MOST uninspired casting ever. Marion and JGL are amazing actors … why waste their talents on such lowly characters. There has to be more to this casting. It’s possible the plot spoilers that leaked to the Internets are completely wrong … but I just can’t believe that Christopher Nolan would waste the talents of these two actors on such seemingly boring characters. I hope something is going on that we don’t know about because on the surface, this casting news is nothing but a pile of ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.

What do y’all think … am I missing something or is it really possible that these two actors could really be playing these boring-sounding characters?

‘Glee’s Heather Morris Does ‘Esquire’ Magazine

Posted: 20 Apr 2011 11:00 AM PDT

Glee star Heather Morris is featured in the new issue of Esquire magazine wherein she gives some advice on dancing. To accompany her interview, Morris not only posed for a set of really HAWT photos but she also filmed a sexy and fun video for your viewing pleasure. Check out Heather‘s dance tips, her video and Esquire photospread below.

* The simplest way to do something cool is the cross-turn. Like in the ’80s — Michael Jackson did it. You jump and cross your legs together at the same time, and then spin out of it. That’s it.

* You don’t want to be too cool. But you don’t want to be too dorky. Still, I find it so much better to see a guy at a club being a dork, and having fun, than trying to be sexy.

* I can’t stand it when someone comes up behind a girl and grabs her hips and tries to grind with her. It’s offensive. Why would you do that to me?

* The secret to moonwalking: You have to have slick shoes, or else your feet would get stuck. And you trick people. Your right foot pops, and you’re pushing your left foot back, and once your left foot lands, you do the same thing. It just looks like you’re gliding on air.

Altho I feel that Heather kinda looks a lot like Ke$ha (except, you know, bathed) in this video and these photos, she still looks SM-OKIN’ hot. Feast your eyes on this hot video:

Wow! She just looks … hot. As much as I dig the photos from her spread (which you can check out in the gallery below), they really don’t hold a candle to this video. What do y’all think of Heather‘s Esquire spread? Are you a fan?

Reuters Reports That The iPhone 5 Will Be Released In September

Posted: 20 Apr 2011 10:00 AM PDT

It’s been quite a while since we’ve heard a seriously juicy iPhone rumor so it was very nice of the Reuters news agency to report the latest rumor this week that the anticipated iPhone 5 will be released this September. Altho iPhones are usually released in June, there has been much speculation that the next generation iPhone will be pushed back from its usual June release date. While Apple has not confirmed this report (because they never confirm anything they themselves do not report), this rumored release report from Reuters could have some semblance of truth to it.

Hold onto your seats, it’s another “when will the iPhone 5 ship” rumor. This time the rumor originates from Reuters, which tweeted late last night: “FLASH: Apple suppliers to start production of next-gen iPhone in July, Aug; begin shipping in Sept – sources.” The associated article also states the iPhone 5 will have a faster processor but offers no additional details. This September shipping date rumor contradicts earlier ones that the iPhone 5 wouldn’t begin production until September with an October or later ship date. This is just my two cents, but my money is on the Reuters rumor. With Apple apparently focusing WWDC solely on software this year, it makes sense that the company would hold off introducing an iPhone 5 until September when iOS 5 will likely launch. It also makes more sense launching the iPhone in September — and not later — as it would allow Apple to sync iPod touch and iPhone hardware launches. In the past when the iPhone has launched in June, everyone knew what new hardware features were most likely going to appear in the next iPod touch when its annual refresh came in September. With a synced launch date, the new iPod touch would have the same “wow” factor that the iPhone always gets.

Some believe the iPhone 5 delay might be due to manufacturing problems caused by the earthquake/tsunami that hit Japan earlier this year, others believe Apple is just trying to put some space between the iPhone 4 release for Verizon that happened in February (not to mention the iPad 2 release in March) and the introduction of another newer generation iPhone. Whatever the case may be, the consensus is that the iPhone 5 will not be released in June. I am really hoping this September release rumor turns out to be true because I hate waiting for new tech. There was talk that the phone might be pushed back to a 2012 release, which would drive me absolutely insane. Reuters is not the kind of new organization to release info that they believe to be mere speculation. If I’m gonna believe any of the iPhone 5 rumors going around right now, I’m gonna go with this Reuters rumor.

Playing ‘Catch’ Up With Friends

Posted: 20 Apr 2011 09:30 AM PDT

As I mentioned earlier, David and I went to the Neil Simon Theater on Broadway to see the new musical production of Catch Me If You Can (read my review HERE) and then afterward, met up with our good friends Marissa and Isaac for a late dinner at the Landmarc inside the Time Warner Center in Columbus Circle. Because our time here in NYC this week is limited and jam-packed with stuff to do, our hang out session with Marissa and Isaac last night was our only chance to see one another … so we really made the most of our time together.

I was very surprised and happy to see that the Time Warner Center has on display quite a few sculpture pieces created by Salvador Dalí. It was all I could do to keep from running around the whole place snapping pics of all the amazing pieces. Here is one photo I did take of one of Dalí‘s famous melting clocks:

Marissa and Isaac are truly 2 of my fave people on Earth so it was a pleasure, as always, to hang out with them. There was talk that one or both of them **may** come visit us in Connecticut this weekend at David’s parent’s house … but as much as I really would LOVE that, I’m not sure if it will actually happen. Still, we did have a blast last night.

This afternoon, David and I are seeing a matinee of Daniel Radcliffe‘s new Broadway show How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying (which we are both very excited to see) and then tonight, I’m meeting up with my darling Irene to see PJ Harvey in concert at Terminal 5. It’s going to be a very exciting day here in NYC. Wee!!!

Theater Review: ‘Catch Me If You Can’

Posted: 20 Apr 2011 08:30 AM PDT

Last night David and I made our way to the Neil Simon Theater on Broadway to see the new musical Catch Me If You Can. Altho I had not seen the film, I was very anxious to see this show because one of my favorite Broadway actresses, Kerry Butler, stars in the show. I was only marginally familiar with the story so I hoped that seeing it cold would be entertaining. For the most part, I thought the show was OK … but, unfortch, it wasn’t nearly as exciting or upbeat as I was hoping.

The staging, set design, costumes and overall look of the show are really it’s strongest assets. You can tell that a lot of thought about the time period went into the staging and production of the show. The overriding problem for me was the story … the long, drawn out … not very exciting story. You’d think that a show with an exciting title like Catch Me If You Can would be upbeat, sexy and feature lots of action and showy dance numbers. Sadly, that is not the case. Most of the story in Act I was just rattled off in dialogue … there weren’t too many catchy numbers to sing along to. Of the songs in the show, I couldn’t even remember any of them after the show was over … well, except for one song. Kerry Butler belts out a showstopping number (Fly, Fly Away) at the very end of the show that is THE best song of the show. I was very surprised, tho, that Kerry isn’t featured AT ALL in the entire first Act … and she is billed as the female lead. Thankfully, Act II picked up considerably and manages to save the show from being a total snooze but as a whole … the show only ends up “OK”. That being said, I’m very glad I got to see the show and did enjoy myself, for the most part. I will say that Catch Me If You Can isn’t a show that I would ever feel the need to see again and it’s not a show that I would call a Must See. Lead actor Aaron Tveit is fine in his role as Frank Abagnale, Jr. but for me the real star of the show is Norbert Leo Butz who plays FBI agent Carl Hanratty. He was the best actor/character in the show. David and I had fun but we’ve seen better shows. If you’re a fan of the Catch Me If You Can story, this show might be for you … otherwise, you may be a bit disappointed by the show’s lack of real excitement.

The Cast Of ‘Happy Days’ Sues CBS For Unpaid Royalties

Posted: 20 Apr 2011 08:00 AM PDT

Happy days have turned crappy days for the cast of the hit 70′s-80′s sitcom Happy Days because they have decided to sue CBS for unpaid royalties that they claim are due them from merchandising from the show. In a new suit brought against the studio by Anson Williams (Potsie), Erin Moran (Joanie), Don Most (Ralph Malph), Marion Ross (Marion Cunningham) and the estate of the late Tom Bosley (Howard Cunningham), the Happy Days cast claim they are owed monies from merchandising revenues due to them under the terms of their contracts. Read on for the sad details about this Happy Days lawsuit.

“Happy Days,” one of the most popular shows in television history, faces an unhappy legacy nearly four decades after it first went on the air. Four cast members, and the estate of Tom Bosley, who died last October, claim CBS (CBS, Fortune 500), which owns the show, has not paid them for merchandising revenues they are owed under their contracts. The show, which originally aired from 1974 to 1984, “represented to the public what the best of America has to offer,” said Anson Williams, who played Potsie. “The friendships, the opportunities, the warmth. Unfortunately, now ‘Happy Days’ also represents the worst of America — of what major companies are trying to get from it, trying to use it for, and forgetting the family it created.” In exclusive interviews with CNN, the cast members — Williams, Don Most, Marion Ross and Erin Moran — all claim they have been cut out of the merchandising bonanza the show has spawned. Those products includes comic books, t-shirts, scrapbooks, trading cards, games, lunch boxes, dolls, toy cars, magnets, greeting cards and DVDs where their images appear on the box covers. When the actors learned their images were also put on “Happy Days,” slot machines, they said they began wondering where all the money ended up. “When these slot machines came out, it was like Barnum and Bailey came to town,” Williams said. “We were bombarded with, oh look at these pictures, they’d be all over the country.” Under the actors’ contracts, they were supposed to be paid 5% from the net proceeds of merchandising if their sole image were used, and 2 1/2% if they were in a group. The studio could deduct 50% off the top as a “handling fee.” “It takes a lot to make me angry because so often my expectations are so low,” Ross said. “But the other day someone came up to me and said, ‘You must be cleaning up on those casinos.’ And I said, ‘Well, what are you talking about?’ And he said, ‘If you get five Marions, you get the jackpot.”‘ Attorney Jon Pfeiffer represents the actors in their case against CBS, which owns the show. He filed a breach-of-contract lawsuit Tuesday in Los Angeles County Superior Court. “The issue is the five cast members of ‘Happy Days’ were not paid for the royalties for their name and likeness,” Pfeiffer told CNN. “That being the use of their picture, use of their name in slot machines, in games, in greeting cards, in t-shirts, anything where you saw a ‘Happy Days’ face of a character, they were not paid for that.” Ron Howard, who played Richie Cunningham, and Henry Winkler, who played the Fonz, are not part of the lawsuit. Howard, through his publicist, declined to comment. Representatives for Winkler have not returned CNN’s calls.

Man … this sucks. Stories like this are just … so crappy. I find it very hard to believe that it was an oversight on CBS‘s part to use the image likeness of these castmembers and then fail to compensate them for their use. I can’t even being to imagine what kind of money is being made from these Happy Days slot machines … let alone the countless Happy Days merchandise items that have been produced over the years. Of course, there are always 2 sides to a story and I’m certain CBS has their own explanation for what is going on … but when you think about the wholesome, “family values” nature of a show like Happy Days and then find out that the actors who starred in a show like that may be getting bilked out of money due them … it’s just really sad. I hope that this mess gets sorted out. I really, really hate the image of these Happy Days actors fighting in court for money. Talk about your un-Happy Days, indeed :(

Elton John’s Baby Boy Goes For A Stroll With His Nanny

Posted: 20 Apr 2011 07:30 AM PDT

When last we saw photos of Zachary Jackson Levon — the only-begotten son of Elton John and David Furnish — out and about in public, he was chillin’ with his Papa David on a beach in Hawaii. Today we get to see new photos of little dude out and about here in NYC chillin’ with his nanny in a park. As you can see from the photos below, Zachary was feelin’ real tired on his walk with his nanny … so, soooo tired.

Look at those cheeks!!! So adorable. We have been enjoying a plethora of adorable baby photos here on the blog lately … but with the celebrity baby boom that is going on, I guess it’s to be expected. These photos of Zachary are just so cute … how could I not share them? Don’t you just want to pinch those chubby little cheeks? This little guy is a doll, Elton and David are very lucky to have such a beautiful boy as their son :)

Lady Gaga Calls Fan Criticism ‘Retarded’, Goes On An Expletive-laden Rant In ‘NME’ Magazine

Posted: 20 Apr 2011 07:00 AM PDT

Lady Gaga is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of NME magazine and in her coverstory interview, she seems to have an awfully big chip on her shoulder. Almost every other word out of her mouth is an expletive and she goes so far as to call criticism of her music “retarded” (which I find outrageously offensive). This interview with NME seems to be an attempt by Gaga to release all of her aggression, which is completely understandable, but the way in which she does it — unsurprisingly — is IMHO offensive and childish. Read on for some of the more choice quotes from Gaga‘s interview.

Lady Gaga has a message for anyone who thinks her image is contrived or fake: "Fuck off." In the latest issue of NME, Gaga stood up for herself and her artistic integrity. Though she's known for her wild outfits and crazy style, they don't define her. Mail Online found some potty-mouthed quotes from the interview. "Let me tell you something," she began. "If you fucking rip my hairbow and my wig off my fucking head, my shoes, my bra, every single thing on my body, and you throw me on a piano with a microphone, I will fucking make you cry." "I feel I have been probed endlessly about who the fuck I am," Gaga continued. "I have been quite open about it. And still nobody seems to have a clue." The pop star's often questioned about her identity. Last month at Google, a fan asked Gaga (real name: Stefani Germanotta), "How do you find time for Stefani?" "I love this question. Who are you looking for? I'm right here," she answered. "Stefani is also who I am. Gaga is my nickname. It's like when you're a kid and your mom calls you 'Skip.' I really make no separation between Stefani and Gaga." Of the infamously divisive lead single from her upcoming third album, she says: "The worst mistake I could have made was not putting out 'Born This Way' as the first record. It's completely balls-to-the-wall, love-it-or-hate-it… Get in or get off the fucking boat. I gained a lot of new fans." Still, she adds, "I am perpetually unhappy with what I create. Even though I might tell you that 'Edge of Glory' is a pop masterpiece, when it's all said and finished there will be things I dread, and every time I listen to it I'll hear them … "In John Lennon's [1980] Playboy interview he talked about how he hated certain songs because of the way they were finished. And they might be my favorite songs, but Lennon couldn't listen to them."

It’s kind of sad, IMHO, that a person as creative as Lady Gaga would resort to having to use the word “fuck” in an interview like this. It’s one thing to use strong language in an interview to look “cool” but when you use it over and over and over again, it only makes you sound childish and downright silly. It’s also extremely sad and disappointing that Gaga seems to have no problems using the word “retarded” in conversation:

NME: A bit of ['Born This Way'] sounds quite a lot like ‘Express Yourself’, though, doesn’t it? The reference seemed so obvious that it had to be intentional because, as you say, you’re not stupid …

Gaga: “No, listen to me. Why the fuck …? I’m a songwriter. I’ve written loads of music. Why would I try and put out a song that and think I’m getting one over on everybody? That’s retarded. What a ridiculous thing to even question about me. I will look you in your eyes and and tell you that I am not dumb enough or moronic enough to think that you are dumb enough or moronic enough not to see that I would have stolen a melody.

I am SO sick and tired of people using the word “retarded” as if it were an insult. To me, it’s no different that using the word “faggot” or the “N” word as an insult. It’s ignorant and extremely offensive to casually throw around the word “retarded” in the same sentence as “dumb” and “moronic”. It’s no secret that I am not a fan of many of the things that Lady Gaga puts out creatively (music and otherwise) but I am really turned off by such flippant use of the word “retarded” … by anyone. I honestly do not understand what Gaga thought she was trying to accomplish with this interview. I guess we’re supposed to feel her passion and identify in some way with her creative struggles … but it is not creative, inventive or at all impressive to throw around the word “fuck” like a teenager trying to sound grown-up and cool and it is downright offensive to refer to detractors of one’s music as “retarded”. I fully expect her defenders to come back with, She didn’t meant it like that or Stop being so sensitive, “retarded” isn’t a bad word. But I am never swayed on this account. It’s gross, it’s offensive and IMHO, slurs like this are indefensible.

Glimmer & Marvel Have Been Cast In ‘The Hunger Games’

Posted: 20 Apr 2011 06:30 AM PDT

Casting news for the film adaptation of The Hunger Games keeps coming at us fast and furious this week. Just yesterday we learned that actress Elizabeth Banks has won the role of Effie Trinket in the upcoming film trilogy and previously we learned that newcomers Amanda Stenberg and Dayo Okeniyi won the roles of District 11 tributes Rue and Thresh (respectively). Today we learn that the Tributes from District 1 have been cast … Leven Rambin will play Glimmer while Jack Quaid will play Marvel.

Leven Rambin has been cast by director Gary Ross as Glimmer in The Hunger Games, District 1′s combatant who’s pitted against District 12′s Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) in the battle to the death competition that makes up the first film in the series. Rambin jumps to the big screen after playing recurring roles in One Tree Hill, Wizards of Waverly Place, CSI: Miami, Private Practice and Grey’s Anatomy. Rambin also was a regular in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

Joining Rambin from District 1 as Marvel is Jack Quaid, announced via the official THG Facebook. Facing off against them are Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson as Peeta Mellark, Katniss's fellow District 12 Tribute and love interest, and newcomers Dayo Okeniyi and Amandla Stenberg as Thresh and Rue, the Tributes from District 11 … Quaid, the son of Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid, recently signed with management company Anonymous Content but appears to have no prior acting credits.

HMMM … it’s beginning to look like The Hunger Games trilogy of films will be used as a way to launch young, up and coming actors. Naturally, the main characters will have to have some acting experience and name caché but the District Tributes could very possibly be made up primarily of actors with little to no previous acting experience. I loved Leven Rambin when she was on The Sarah Connor Chronicles … I think she will make a great Glimmer. I really don’t know anything about Jack Quaid but his Facebook profile has blown up with congrats from friends and well-wishers. Needless to say, he is very happy that he won the role of Marvel. While it seems to clear to me that Jack Quaid‘s name (and parental pedigree) prolly had much to do with his casting, he looks like he’ll make a fine Marvel. There are still a lot of roles that need to be filled for The Hunger Games. I can’t wait to hear who will be cast next. As for this new casting news … what do y’all think?

First Listen: Beyoncé, ‘Run The World (Girls)’

Posted: 20 Apr 2011 06:00 AM PDT

Yesterday we got our first listen of a demo leak version of Beyoncé‘s new single Run the World (Girls). Today we get to hear the final, mastered single version. To be honest, the final version doesn’t sound all that different from the demo version. There is more production and instrumentation but the version of the song we heard yesterday gave us a very good first taste of the actual single itself. Listen below, see what you think.

I’m not sure if a higher quality, higher bitrate version of this song will make much difference but this is the single that Beyoncé will be comin’ at us when she releases her new album this Summer. I, personally, like it. It’s not an immediate OMG I LOVE THIS SONG kind of single but it’s got an infectious groove that sticks in my head. Take a listen:

It’s very similar to the demo, ain’t it? I know some folks said they didn’t like the demo much and were hoping that they would like the final, single version more. What do y’all think? Is this a hot Summer song destined to put Beyoncé back on top of the charts or do you think this is miss that will fizzle out? I’m on Team Beyoncé! I like the song … do you?
