Tiffany & Debbie Gibson Team Up For A Concert . . . Together!

Posted: 27 Apr 2011 05:30 PM PDT

Before it was Britney Spears vs. Christina Aguilera, it was Tiffany vs. Debbie Gibson. Back in the late 80′s, Tiffany and Debbie battled it out for the hearts, minds and souls of pop fans as the dueling teen pop stars competed for pop supremacy. This Summer, after All This Time of wasted Electric Youth, Tiffany and Debbie Gibson will lay down their arms and perform TOGETHER for the first time ever!

Live Nation is pleased to present Debbie Gibson and Tiffany, together for the very first time, at the NYCB Theatre at Westbury on July 29 at 8 pm. Tickets are $69.50, $39.50 and $29.50 and go on sale this Friday, April 22 at 10 a.m. Tickets are available at www.livenation.com, charge by phone at 800-745-3000 or at the Westbury box office (Box Office opens at Noon). Event, date and time are subject to change. Tickets are subject to applicable service charges. For membership information, visit www.westburymembership.com

Merrick's Debbie Gibson rose to fame while still in high school. Her debut single, "Only In My Dreams" was released in the summer of 1987 and was followed in the fall by "Shake Your Love." Out of the Blue her debut album was released that fall and by the spring of 1988, the title track had climbed to number three on the charts. With the release of her fourth single, "Foolish Beat," Debbie Gibson became the youngest artist to write, produce and perform a #1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. "Lost in Your Eyes," the first single from her sophomore effort, Electric Youth became her biggest hit, staying at number one for three weeks. In addition to her recording career, Debbie Gibson has starred on Broadway in "Les Miserables" and "Beauty and the Beast." She starred in London in the West End production of "Grease" and toured nationally in "Grease," "Funny Girl," and appeared at the Paper Mill Playhouse in "Gypsy." More recently she was seen in her second SyFy film "Mega Python vs. Gatorid" with Tiffany as her co-star.
TIFFANY is back! …to her roots. The dynamic voice of the 80s has returned to where it all started for her, country music and the Nashville music scene. Now a critically praised songwriter, Tiffany is set to capture your hearts again…with her new album of country/rock tunes! Tiffany began her career at the age of 13 when she signed her first recording contract with MCA. The self-titled debut album was released in 1987 and eventually went quadruple platinum. The innovative "Mall Tour" that followed proved to be the signature for Tiffany's early career and was very effective in targeting her core audience of young teens making Tiffany the youngest female artist to debut at number one on the Billboard charts. Tiffany produced three top ten hits, two of which were national and international #1 pop singles "Could've Been" and the celebrated "I Think We're Alone Now." The soon-to-be teen pop phenomenon, New Kids on the Block, got their big break as the opening act for her world tour. Tiffany released her second album, Hold An Old Friend's Hand, which went double platinum and featured the top ten hit "All This Time."

I would just DIE to see these two perform together. It’s unclear if this show is a one-off performance or if they are planning to hit the road together but if New Kids on the Block can go on tour with Backstreet Boys, then I don’t see why Tiffany and Debbie can’t do the same. In about 30 years, I full expect Britney and Xtina to do this very same thing … but for now, I’d totally settle for Tiff and Deb :D

Watch: Beyoncé Moves Her Body To ‘Get Me Bodied’

Posted: 27 Apr 2011 04:30 PM PDT

Beyoncé, who is about to unleash a new album of new material very soon, has teamed up with First Lady Michelle Obama to produce a short video for her Let’s Move! campaign that seeks to battle childhood obesity with physical fitness. Bey used her song Get Me Bodied for the new clip … proving that the song is still a hot jam … and that she can still dance her buns off!

If there is one way to get kids active, it would be to have Beyoncé come to their school and dance with them in the cafeteria. Absent that actually happening, I think this video might do the trick … but not as well. I do love that Bey teamed up with First Lady Obama for this new campaign.

Watch: ‘X-Men: First Class’ Releases A Full-Length Movie Trailer

Posted: 27 Apr 2011 03:30 PM PDT

In February we got our first look at the first teaser trailer for the upcoming prequel film X-Men: First Class. Today we get to check out the longer, full-length theatrical trailer that will begin showing in movie theaters ahead of new films. In this new trailer, we get to see some of the scenes that were featured in the first trailer but we also get to see new scenes featuring the teenage X-Men in action. Check out the trailer below.

OH yeah, I like this trailer MUCH more than the first one. I have a really good feeling about this X-Men prequel. My gut tells me that it will be the best of the bunch. I am really excited about seeing the origins of the X-Men and am looking forward to seeing the way the relationship between Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr grows … and then falls apart. I am SO excited for this film … June can’t get here soon enough for me.

First Look: Tom Hardy Surfaces On The Set Of ‘The Dark Knight Rises’

Posted: 27 Apr 2011 02:30 PM PDT

Apparently, filming production is now underway on the set of Batman: The Dark Knight Rises because new photos of a very beefy-looking Tom Hardy have surfaced from the set. To be honest, there is nothing about the photos that look particularly Batman-esque … but Hardy, who will play the villain Bane in the film, looks pretty damn good … both in and out of his shirt.

The first photo from the set of Christopher Nolan’s trilogy ending sequel The Dark Knight Rises has arrived, which features fan Ash Harper snapping a photo with Tom Hardy. While not an official image from the Warner Bros. set, it offers a good look at Tom Hardy in Bane mode … Two new photos have arrived from the set of The Dark Knight Rises, which will be released in theaters on July 20, 2012. Click on these new shots below, which feature actor Tom Hardy sporting his new bald and muscular look to portray the villain Bane.

I’m not certain why it is believed that these photos were taken on the Batman set but I am not complaining. As much as I really don’t mind the shirtless sight of Tom Hardy flexing for the cameras, I am really looking forward to seeing him in costume as Bane. If these photos really are coming from the Batman set, it’s feasible we may get to see him in costume very soon. As for these photos, what do y’all think? Does Tom Hardy make a great Bane or what?

Did Kate Middleton Inadvertently Give A Sneak Peek Of Her Wedding Vows?

Posted: 27 Apr 2011 01:47 PM PDT

We are just about 1 day away from the Royal Wedding of Prince William of Wales and his fiancée Kate Middleton and earlier today, the couple ran thru the final wedding rehearsal before the big day. When next the couple meets inside Westminster Abbey, they will be joined in holy matrimony. Before the rehearsal took place today, Kate was photographed as she ran some errands and it is believed a copy of her wedding vows was snapped in one of the photos. Check out the photo below for a sneak peek at the vows she may make at the altar early Friday morning.

We know that Kate Middleton won’t promise to ‘obey’ at Westminster Abbey, but it seems the couple may have written their own vows for the royal wedding. When Kate was photographed leaving her family home in Bucklebury today there was a sheaf of paper visible in the back seat of the car that included a passage from an unrecognised work. While many of the words were obscured, it read in part: ‘With so much love within our hearts.’ While the passage could be from a separate reading, it opens the possibility that they have followed the example of many young couples and written their own vows for their special day. Kate and Prince William were back together today to hold last-minute rehearsals as the final countdown to Friday’s Royal Wedding got under way. Miss Middleton drove from the family home in to Clarence House, where the couple were said to have met the Dean of Westminster Abbey for a run-through of the wedding service. Showing no sign of nerves, the 29-year-old bride-to-be, dressed in a demure cream suit, set off from Berkshire at 8.45am — the last time she will leave home as a single woman — with only her police protection officer for company. She greeted her fiancé, 28, at his London residence for the meeting with Dr John Hall, who will conduct the service and be the first to welcome her when she arrives at the abbey with her father on Friday. The couple are also expected to rehearse their vows at the abbey before the big day. A royal spokesman said: ‘There will be final preparations happening over the last couple of days.’ With less than 48 hours to go, preparations are now at fever pitch, with family, military and security staff making last-minute adjustments.

I cannot EVEN imagine how crazy things are in London right now. With the wedding so close at hand, I’m sure there are a million things left to take care of before the appointed hour strikes. Kate and Wills looked pretty calm as they made their way into the church for rehearsal but I’m sure they are a mess of nerves underneath. Whether this paper shows Kate‘s wedding vows or some other bit of fluff to be read during the ceremony, I know there are a lot of people anxious for the ceremony to get underway. It won’t be long now … very soon, Wills and Kate will begin their life together “with so much love within [their] hearts.”

David & Daphne Sittin’ In A Tree

Posted: 27 Apr 2011 01:08 PM PDT

Last night, David and I were graciously invited for a dinner date at Ollie and Caleb’s home downtown so we JUMPED at the chance to hang out at their place. Having tasted Ollie’s cooking before, I knew that we would be in for a real treat. The four of us haven’t hung out in a while so we were anxious to just hang out and chill together so that we could play records and catch up on what’s been going on in our lives. While we were all relaxing, David struck up a new love affair with a member of Ollie and Caleb’s family … and it was love at first sight!

David and Daphne (Ollie & Caleb’s pooch) have been good friends for a while but they really hit it off together last night. This photo of the two of them looking out the window together is just the perfect example of their special friendship … aren’t they just the cutest?

Anyways, as I said … Ollie cooked an amazing meal and we all had a blast! Tonight, David and I are planning to hang out with Emma and Josh who we also haven’t seen in a while so … it’s gonna be another couple’s date night tonight! It’s Hump Day, y’all … I hope YOURS is a great one :D

Watch: Watch: The Cast Of ‘Glee’ Films In Central Park

Posted: 27 Apr 2011 11:36 AM PDT

Yesterday we saw photos and video of the female cast of Glee filming scenes for an upcoming episode in the middle of Times Square in NYC, NY and today we get to see new photos and video of the cast — both female and male — filming scenes in Central Park. The weather has been absolutely gorgeous in NYC this week, which means that these new NYC Glee scenes will look amazing on film. Check out the photos and some video below.

You can tell from the color scheme of the costumes that there is a heavy emphasis on the Spring season in these scenes. Everyone looks so festive … and then you toss in a bouquet of balloons … it just look all too perfect! Here is a short video that a fan filmed on the Central Park set of Glee yesterday:

I can’t quite make out what musical number they are filming here … but that’s OK, I want to stay as unspoiled as possible. I think I’ve already seen too much … but I can’t wait to see more. Last night’s ep of Glee was really fun … it looks like the rest of the season is going to be pretty dang good.

Prince Harry Reunites With His ‘Walking With The Wounded’ Crew

Posted: 27 Apr 2011 11:02 AM PDT

Prince Harry, er I mean Captain Prince Harry, reunited with the crew of Walking with the Wounded in London this week to celebrate the end of their successful mission to the North Pole. As you may recall, Harry walked part of the 200 km trek to the North Pole but had to return to London early to prepare for his older brother’s Royal Wedding this week. But the rest of the Walking with the Wounded crew did manage to complete their trek and are now all back home, safe and sound. Check out some photos and deets from their happy reunion below.

The journey, taken in March, was a venture by the Walking With The Wounded charity, of which Harry is a patron. He joined four wounded servicemen, all of whom were injured fighting in Afghanistan, and the two co-founders of the charity for the first five days of their unaided 200 mile trek to the North Pole. The Prince also trained with the team on the Norwegian island of Spitsbergen ahead of taking part in final preparations for the expedition. It included sleeping out on the ice and dragging a 100 kilogram sled through freezing temperatures of minus 40C. Prince Harry joined the team in London giving speeches that recounted the world record expedition and the challenges it brought them. The money raised from the North Pole trek will go towards helping injured servicemen and women find work and security.

As I said before, I think this is a fantastic charity and I hope Walking with the Wounded was able to raise the funds they were hoping for. I love that Prince Harry participated in the trek for as long as he could before his royal duties forced him to return home to London. By lending his name as patron to the charity, he is really making a bold statement about the causes he believes in. As a solider himself, I’m certain that Walking with the Wounded and other like charities are near and very dear to his heart. Let’s give a hearty congrats to all the folks to trekked to the North Pole to raise these much needed funds. Well done, everyone!

MTV Readies The Release Of The UK Version Of ‘The Jersey Shore’

Posted: 27 Apr 2011 10:37 AM PDT

As the US cast of MTV‘s The Jersey Shore prepares to take their show on the road to Italy for filming this Summer, MTV UK is readying the premiere of the UK version of Jersey Shore. Geordie Shore was filmed in the Northeast part of the UK known as Newcastle … which is right on the beach. A cursory look at the cast makes it seem like Geordie guys and girls are really the British cousins of the gorilla juicehead guidos and guidettes here in the US. Take a look at profile pics of the cast of Geordie Shore and watch the trailer for the new show below.

MTV cameras will follow some of Newcastle's finest lads and lasses, as we sneak a peek into their glamorous lives and party lifestyles. From the city that gave us Cheryl Cole, Ant & Dec & Gazza, meet the real Angels Of The North as the girls strut their stuff in mini-skirts shorter than their belts, whilst the guys pump iron at the gym and drink more vodka shots than Newcastle Brown Ale.

LOL. I’m not gonna lie … I am really looking forward to watching this show … it’ll be nice to poke fun at some Brits rather than have the entire world poke fun and laugh at us Americans. I think my fave castmember has to be Jay, the dude who likes to show off his nipples (click HERE for longer cast bios and names). Are you ready for the Geordie Shore? Here’s a preview video to get you prepared:

I can’t even … this show looks like it’ll be a brilliant parody of a joke of a show … and I can’t *wait* to watch. What do y’all think … does this look like a show that you’d like to watch? Do any of y’all Brits have any thoughts on Geordie Shore? Any fun stories about the area to share?

Sarah Michelle Geller Stars In A New Video Game

Posted: 27 Apr 2011 09:40 AM PDT

Pink reader Rob gave me the head’s up about some very cool Sarah Michelle Gellar news. We already know that she is planning her return to TV this Fall in a new CBS series called Ringer but it turns out that she is also starring in another new project, set for release soon. SMG is one of the stars in a new video game, y’all! In very Buffy-like fashion, SMG plays a zombie slayer in Call of Duty: Black Ops Escalation – Call of the Dead. The video game is inspired by the work of horror legend George Romero and also stars Robert Eglund (A Nightmare on Elm Street), Danny Trejo (Machete) and Romero himself. SMG will play the sole female role … and as you can see from the screencaps and video below, she basically looks exactly like Buffy the Vampire Slayer … but with a gun rather than a wooden stake.

Noted horror film director George Romero will lend his likeness to a Call of Duty: Black Ops level inspired by his zombie film works, along with several well-known action and horror film actors. The new level, called “Call of the Dead,” will be included in the upcoming Escalation downloadable content pack. In addition to Romero, actors lending their likeness to the grindhouse-inspired level include Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Robert Englund (A Nightmare On Elm Street), Michael Rooker (The Walking Dead) and Danny Trejo (Grindhouse, Machete). “This is Treyarch’s tribute to the legendary George Romero, who truly defined the zombie genre and whose incredible work has been such an inspiration to our team,” said Black Ops director Dave Anthony. “It was an absolute honor to work with such an amazing and talented cast whose passion and energy brought their characters instantly to life. Fans are going to love this.”

Holy shizz, how cool is this? I am a big fan of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer video games that were released for Xbox and it always bugged the HELL out of me that Sarah Michelle Geller would not lend her voice for the games. Every other BtVS actor provided the voices for their characters in the video game … save for SMG. Now, all these years later, she finally agrees to voice a game … at last! Altho she isn’t really playing Buffy in this Call of Duty game, she sure as shizz looks exactly like Buffy ;) My boy Darion is a big video game freak so he will SURELY get this game … and I can’t wait to play it with him :) Sooooo cool, right?

Watch: Lindsay Lohan Does Damage Control On ‘The Tonight Show’

Posted: 27 Apr 2011 08:17 AM PDT

Yesterday we got to see a short preview of Lindsay Lohan‘s pretaped interview on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and right now, we get to watch the whole thing. In an effort to do a bit of damage control after getting slapped with another jail sentence for probation violation last Friday, Lindsay made a surprise appearance on The Tonight Show in an effort to try and get her career back on track. Apparently, getting a role in the planned Gotti biopic has inspired the young actress to take her career seriously … and step one of her career rejuvenation is making clear to the public that she is a changed person. Click below to see what Lindsay had to say on The Tonight Show last night.

Among the humorous things that Lindsay shared last night is her plan to win an Academy Award by the time she turns 30 years old (which she couldn’t even say with a straight face) … but she also kinda tries to take responsibility for her actions in a roundabout way. In the end, tho, she blames everything from her “youth” to the people in her life for her life’s failings. She says she wants the public to judge her solely on her work (which, for the most part is nonexistent) and not for her public persona. Here are the videos of Lindsay‘s complete interview on The Tonight Show:

Part 1:

Part 2:

Part 3:

I found it very interesting that the singer in The Tonight Show band is married to Lindsay‘s lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley … so now we know how Lindsay got such a plumb spot on late night TV. I, for one, do not believe a word from this contrite Lindsay Lohan. Until she actually pays for her crimes and repays her debt to society, I do not believe she is worthy of forgiveness. It’s one thing to say you take responsibility for your actions and another to actually pay the consequences. Lindsay can say all the right things she wants … but until she faces the consequences of her actions, she really hasn’t done a damn thing.

The District 3 Tributes Have Been Cast In ‘The Hunger Games’

Posted: 27 Apr 2011 07:45 AM PDT

Today I have more casting news to share for the upcoming big screen adaptation of The Hunger Games. The nameless tributes from District 3 have been cast and newcomers Ian Nelson and Kalia Prescott have won the roles. Much like protagonist Katniss Everdeen‘s mother is never mentioned by name, the tributes from District 3 who must fight to the death are never referred to in the books by name … but they are very important to the film in that they make up a small part of The Hunger Games themselves. Read on for the deets about this new casting news.

The casting of The Hunger Games, the adaptation of Suzanne Collins' futuristic best-seller about children forced to battle to the death on reality TV, rolls on. Newcomers Ian Nelson and Kalia Prescott have been plucked to play the male and female Tributes from District 3. In the novel, Prescott's character bids a heartbreaking goodbye to her parents and younger siblings after her name is called. Nelson's character is skilled in electronics and technology, which the Career Tributes exploit.

With 12 sets of tributes competing in The Hunger Games, not all of them are going to be as prominent as others. Unfortunately, some of the tributes have blink-and-you-missed-it roles. Still, there are 24 tributes total in competition in The Hunger Games and all of those roles have to be filled. It’s possible that these nameless characters might get names in the film version of Games but, at this point, they are only known as the boy and girl tributes from District 3. I suspect we will be hearing about more tribute casting from the other districts very soon. What do y’all think … are these actors what you envisioned of the tributes of District 3?

President Obama Releases His Long Form Birth Certificate

Posted: 27 Apr 2011 07:20 AM PDT

For years, well before he was elected president of the United States of America, critics (ie. conservative politicians in this country) have been making the ridiculousness claim that President Barack Obama should NOT be president of this country because they do not believe that he was born in the US and is, therefore, ineligible to be president (our federal constitution stipulates that a person MUST be naturally born on US soil to become president). Despite the fact that President Obama issued a copy of the short form version of his birth certificate during the 2008 Presidential election, his detractors STILL have not been convinced that he is US natural born. Today, in an effort to finally END the ridiculous controversy, the White House has issued the long form version of President Obama‘s birth certificate putting to rest AT last the controversy.

President Obama posted a copy of his "long-form" birth certificate from the state of Hawaii, hoping to finally end a long-simmering conspiracy theory among some conservatives who asserted that he was not born in the United States and was not a legitimate president. The birth certificate, which is posted online at the White House Web site, shows that Mr. Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, and is signed by state officials and his mother. "The President believed the distraction over his birth certificate wasn't good for the country," Dan Pfeiffer, the White House communications director, wrote on the Web site Wednesday morning. "It may have been good politics and good TV, but it was bad for the American people and distracting from the many challenges we face as a country" … The contention that Mr. Obama was not born in the United States, and therefore did not meet the constitutional requirement for election as president, has been around for years and has long been refuted. But it has recently gained public attention after Donald Trump, the real estate mogul, repeatedly raised questions as he explores whether to run for president. Mr. Pfeiffer said in the statement on the site that the president authorized officials in Hawaii to release the document broadly. In July of 2009, Robert Gibbs, the White House press secretary at the time, dismissed the "made-up fictional nonsense of whether or not the president was born in this country." But the so-called birther controversy continued, as evidenced by polls that suggested large numbers of people said they were not confident that Mr. Obama was in fact born in the country. Many of the doubters suggested that Mr. Obama could not produce the "long-form" birth certificate because they assumed it did not exist. The White House decision to produce the document is an effort to disprove those accusations.

I love my country very much and I am always very proud of what we stand for … but it’s stuff like this that really embarrasses and saddens me. Questions over President Obama‘s birth are nothing more than racism, pure and simple. I don’t care what anyone says, I honestly believe that if President Obama were white, there would NEVER EVER have been accusations that he was not born in this country. Even after his birth certificate was released today, conservative news channel Fox News is running a headline that read something like “President Obama releases what it claims to be his long form birth certificate”. Without question, detractors will try to find a way to discredit this document … it’s absolutely absurd! The PDF of Obama‘s birth certificate can be downloaded HERE. I honestly don’t even know what to say about something as silly as this … but sometimes, American politics can be silly. The release of this document will not quell the controversy completely (because detractors and right wing crazies will never stop their attacks) but at least I hope it will allow the sane people in this country a chance to move on to more important issues plaguing our country today.
