Watch: US Military Soldiers Perform Their Version Of ‘Hold It Against Me’ By Britney Spears Posted: 21 Apr 2011 05:52 PM PDT A group of US military soldiers and personnel stationed in Afghanistan decided to put together a music video performance of Britney Spears‘s single Hold It Against Me. Not only is the clip beyond cute but it features some pretty sweet dance moves. Check out this fabulously fun video in full below. If the US military was able to spend all of their time making music videos and none of their time waging war, I think the world would be a much better place. Isn’t this video the best? Enjoy!! First Listen: The Glee Version Of ‘Born This Way’ Posted: 21 Apr 2011 03:45 PM PDT A few weeks ago we got a short preview of the Glee version of the Lady Gaga song Born This Way. Right now, we get to hear the Glee version of the track in full. I believe the Born This Way episode of Glee will air on Fox very soon … but today, we get to hear the track in full below. I know there are a lot of folks out there very anxious to hear the Glee version of Born This Way so … enjoy. Is it everything you hoped it would be? I have to say, and no offense to Kurt fans … I am SO glad that he isn’t singing the song alone. The female voices on the track are great! To be honest, I think it’s a pretty good cover … altho it does sound a bit like the Glee version of Madonna‘s Express Yourself ;) Hee Hee. [Source] |
Kobe Bryant & His Lakers Teammates Film A Tolerance PSA Posted: 21 Apr 2011 02:34 PM PDT Last week, Kobe Bryant of the LA Lakers was fined $100,000.00 for hurling an offensive anti-gay slur against a referee on live national television. This week he and some of his Lakers teammates are featured in a new tolerance-preaching PSA in an attempt to undo some of the damage Bryant‘s slur caused last week. Check out the PSA below and see how Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, Ron Artest, Shannon Brown and Lamar Odom are trying to teach the message of tolerance. I’m not gonna lie, the guys in this video kinda look like they’d rather be anywhere else in the world … but I do give them kudos for making the effort. It is my hope that this PSA will not only teach others the lesson of tolerance but it will also teach sports stars, like Kobe Bryant, the very same lesson. I would bet good money that Kobe will not be dumb enough to hurl a slur like that again. Whether he refrains from such offensive behavior because he really believes the tolerant message he espouses in this PSA or he is afraid of the backlash (and exorbitant fines) that would come if he did it again is irrelevant to me … if he manages to keep such language out of his mouth and out of sight of the impressionable people who look up to him then it is a win/win situation for all. As for this PSA … what do y’all think? Are you impressed? [Source] |
Beyoncé Gets Goofy At Disneyland Paris Posted: 21 Apr 2011 01:15 PM PDT Earlier today we got our first look at the single cover artwork for Beyoncé‘s new song Runs the World (Girls) but right now we get to see a few MUCH cuter photos of Ms. B. Beyoncé is currently in Europe and was spotted earlier today at Disneyland Paris. The usually very fashion-conscious Beyoncé decided to let her hair down a bit and rock a fun Goofy hat at the theme park. Check out the photos below.

Wonder Woman Script Changes Make The Superhero A Badass Posted: 21 Apr 2011 12:06 PM PDT I am happy to report that it sounds like the Wonder Woman TV series, planned for a Fall release this year, continues to be changed for the better. As you may recall, after fan outrage over the tackiness of the first version of the new Wonder Woman costume started to spread, the costume was changed to appease fan criticism. Previously we heard some very upsetting things about the script for the show that seemed to weaken the Wonder Woman character. Today we learn that the script has been changed so that WW is a more powerful, badass character … as she should be!
IF you want to read spoilers about the pilot episode of Wonder Woman, you can do so HERE. I am very happy to learn that the writers have decided to shy away from the weak character they initially tried to give us and have, instead, made the character much stronger. In the end, we’ll have to wait to see how the show turns out to make any real judgments about the changes but … I’m really happy to know that the WW folks (and David E. Kelley, in particular) are actually listening to fan criticism. Wonder Woman is such a beloved character by so many … they have to treat her right. I have more confidence now that this new Wonder Woman might actually turn out great. [Photo credit: Splash News; Source] |
Lindsay Lohan Reduced To A Minor Role In The New Gotti Biopic Posted: 21 Apr 2011 11:36 AM PDT Last week, Lindsay Lohan crashed a NYC press conference announcement of a new biopic titled Gotti: Three Generations in the hopes of nabbing the role of Victoria Gotti in the film. It turns out that negotiations for Lindsay to appear in the film fell apart and she was offered no role at all. Lindsay went back to the production company and begged for a role and ended up getting the minor role of John Gotti Jr.‘s daughter-in-law Kim. The up-side is that Lindsay got a job, yay! The down-side, the job is a minor one that prolly won’t be winning her any awards.
UGH … poor Lindsay has now been reduced to picking up Kim Kardashian‘s scraps? Eek! That is sad. But, a job’s a job … and, as they say, there are no small roles, there are only small actors. Let’s hope that Lindsay‘s prowess in talking people into giving her work will be advantageous to her in the long run. Let’s remember, just because she gets a movie role doesn’t mean it’ll be a success. I wish her all the best, I really do. She has a lot of work ahead of her to convince people that she’s worth watching. What do y’all think about this? Will Lindsay sink or swim in her new Gotti role? |
Christina Aguilera Is Honored On The Gay Walk Of Fame Posted: 21 Apr 2011 11:05 AM PDT Popstar Christina Aguilera was on hand in West Hollywood, CA last night to be honored as the first celeb to leave her name in the new Gay Walk of Fame, hosted by the famed Abbey restaurant & nightclub. Xtina, in all her blonde bombshell glory, seemed to revel in all the love heaped upon her by the WeHo gays and held court last night like a diva should. Read on for deets from last night’s affair along with photos from the Gay Walk of Fame Ceremony.
As for the Gay Walk of Fame, who do YOU think should be honored next? |
An Evening With Polly Jean & Friends Posted: 21 Apr 2011 10:39 AM PDT Yesterday was another FANTASTICALLY fun day here in NYC. After David and I attended a matinee performance of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying (read my review HERE), David and I parted ways for a bit. He ran off to attend the opening of the new Broadway musical Sister Act and I hooked up with my dear friend Irene for last night’s PJ Harvey concert at Terminal 5. After both shows, we all met up at Ed’s Chowder House for grub and drinks. It was a fab night.
The setlist was primarily made up of song from her new album Let England Shake, which is fine by me because I love the album entirely! PJ is not touring here in the US and her only other US date was at Coachella. This was my chance to see her and I’m so glad I got to see her perform live again. After the show, Irene and I met up with David and his friends Jessica, Josh, Marissa and Isaac … and then we were joined by by darling friend Kanani:
This evening, we head North to Connecticut for the rest of the weekend. It’ll be fun to hang out at David’s parent’s home for a bit … just me and the Hauslaibs. Happy Maundy Thursday, y’all!! |

Theater Review: ‘How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying’ Posted: 21 Apr 2011 09:22 AM PDT Yesterday afternoon, David and I made our way to the Al Hirschfeld Theater on Broadway to attend the matinee performance of the new revival musical How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. As you may know, this new production of the show stars Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe (who previously made his Broadway debut in the play Equus back in 2008). Ever since the show opened late last month, I’ve been anxiously awaiting my chance to see the show and yesterday was the day. Not only was it a full-blown show-tunes funfest but Radcliffe‘s exuberant excitement made the show an absolute delight to watch!
Even tho some of the songs may not be all that fantastic (I am referring to the “coffee break” song), the choreography and staging more than makes up for the song’s shortcomings. More than a few times, the musical numbers are so big and fun that you almost want to jump out of your seat to applaud (in this instance, I’m referring to the “football” dance number near the end of Act I and the “board meeting” number near the end of Act II). If I have one complaint, it would be a bit with the story subject matter. How to Succeed is set during a time period in our country when men make all the money and women are expected to take care of the home. While Dan Rad‘s character — J. Pierrepont Finch — is hellbent on clawing his way to the top of the business world, the lead female character — Rosemary Pilkington (played by Rose Hemingway) — is only interested in nabbing Finch as her husband so that she can quit her job as a secretary and stay home to cook his meals. There is a song where all of the secretaries refer to Rosemary as their Cinderella and they actually pray for her to get married so they can live vicariously thru her! Again, the time period is largely responsible for the tone of the story but I really couldn’t help but cringe every time the women in the show were praying for a marriage proposal. BUT, as I said, that is really the only thing I didn’t like about the show. The sets were so cool, very retro-looking … How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying is truly a fun show to see. This is a show I would heartily recommend to anyone … it may be the biggest hit on Broadway right now. I loved it, you may too :D [Source] |
Rihanna & Britney Spears Go To Number 1 On The ‘Billboard’ Hot 100 Chart Posted: 21 Apr 2011 08:16 AM PDT Congratulations are in order for Rihanna and Britney Spears as their remix of Ri Ri‘s single S&M is crowned the #1 song in the country. All of the credit goes to Rihanna for this accomplishment because it is her single that tops the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart but I think it’s pretty clear that Britney Spears‘s appearance on the track is largely responsible for the song being such a big hit — and for going straight to #1!
Woot!! This is fantastic news. It was a BRILLIANT idea to team up Rihanna and Britney on this single remix. I had no doubt in my mind that the track would go straight to #1. Congrats and love all around … Rihanna and Britney are the queens of the pop chart this week! Weeee!!! [Source] |
Lady Gaga Issues An Apology For Her Offensive ‘Retarded’ Remark Posted: 21 Apr 2011 07:55 AM PDT A firestorm of controversy whipped up around Lady Gaga yesterday over her insensitive and horribly offensive use of the word “retarded” in her new expletive-laden interview with NME magazine (published this week). In an attempt to quell the outrage over her remark, Gaga issued a terse apology that seems more explanatory than it does apologetic. Additionally, a minor controversy broke out yesterday as well as Weird Al Yankovic revealed that Gaga refused to let him release his parody song based on her single Born This Way. As another anti-Gaga firestorm started to emerge, Gaga reversed her position on the parody song and allowed Weird Al to release the song.
Anything that I say about Gaga‘s “apology” will very likely be interpreted as “hate” because I admittedly am not a big fan of anything she does … but, here goes. In my very honest opinion, I do not accept this carefully worded statement as a genuine apology. It seems like it was issued to try and put a stop to the angry commentary that has been going around about her insensitive and offensive remark. I would hope that Gaga is genuinely sorry for her remark and isn’t just trying to undo the PR mess that she created. In the end, an apology is an apology (I guess) and I — at the very least — commend her decision to issue a statement. Now … as for the Weird Al controversy. Al spoke with The New York Times about Gaga‘s refusal to let him release his parody version of her song Born this Way. Click HERE to read his interview and listen below to his parody song Perform This Way: To be fair, Gaga‘s position is that her manager never asked her to approve the song so she never denied Weird Al‘s request to release it. In the end, permission was given, the song has been approved and everyone is happy. Lady Gaga has been issuing mea culpas left and right … but is she really sorry for these mistakes or is she only interested in stemming the tide of negative controversy? The answer, I suppose, is up to each individual. [Source, Source] |
Willow Shields Has Been Cast As Primrose Everdeen In ‘The Hunger Games’ Posted: 21 Apr 2011 07:31 AM PDT Another day, another casting news announcement to make for the upcoming big screen adaptation of The Hunger Games. Today we learn that the pivotal character of Prim will be played by newcomer Willow Shields. Those of you who are familiar with the story in The Hunger Games know that Prim (Primrose Everdeen, to be exact) is lead protagonist Katniss Everdeen‘s beloved little sister and she plays an integral role thruout the trilogy. Read on for more information about the young actress who will be bringing Prim to life on the big screen.
As I mentioned before, it appears that The Hunger Games trilogy will give the movie studio the opportunity to cast a whole bunch of newcomer actors … thereby creating a new crop of movie stars. It’s a brilliant move. As for Willow Sheilds‘s casting, I see no problem with it because we have no form of reference to judge her by. She’s a cute little girl, as is Prim, so at the very least she looks the part. Prim‘s role gets significantly more intense as the trilogy unfolds … her role gets very serious by book 3, Mockingjay. I am hoping that Miss Shields here has got the acting chops to bring Prim to life … but, again, we have no reason to believe that she does not. What do y’all think of Prim‘s casting? Is this young girl the image you had in your mind of Prim? If not, who did YOU envision as playing the role? [Source] |
