John C. Reilly Will Reportedly Play Haymitch Abernathy In ‘The Hunger Games’

New York magazine is reporting that actor John C. Reilly is in serious talks to play the role of Haymitch Abernathy in the big screen adaptation of The Hunger Games. According to the magazine, the role has been offered to him but his casting is not yet official. I, for one, think this is another case of brilliant casting! While I didn’t immediately think of John C. Reilly as Haymitch while reading the books, I can absolutely see how he could play the role perfectly. Read on for all the rumored deets about this reported casting.

Loaded question: Who plays a paunchy, pathetic drunk better than John C. Reilly? Actually, that's a bit of a trick, because the answer, of course, is no one. And for that reason, we're told it will be the Oscar-nominated Reilly who'll be soon be getting the offer to play Haymitch Abernathy in the forthcoming adaptation of Suzanne Collins’s The Hunger Games at Lionsgate Films. If you've read Collins's bestselling book, you already know that Abernathy is the only living person from Panem's District 12 to ever win The Hunger Games, and now serves as a mentor, albeit an alcoholic one, to district tributes Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) … We're also told that Reilly had been in talks to join Disney's Oz, the Great and the Powerful as the sidekick to James Franco's Wizard character, but that those talks had stalled; now we know why.

Altho this news is not yet official, I would be THRILLED if Reilly ends up with the role. He deffo has the look and absolutely has the acting chops to play the part. I am very pleased with the way the cast of The Hunger Games is turning out. Even tho I don’t agree with ALL of the casting thus far **cough** Hunter Parrish should be Peeta Mellark **cough** I am generally very happy with the way things are turning out and am SO excited about seeing The Hunger Games come to life on the big screen. What do y’all think of John C. Reilly as Haymitch? Is he the choice for you? If not, who would play the role better?

Beyoncé Poses For ‘Harper’s Bazaar’ Magazine In Paris

Beyoncé, who just released her new single Run The World (Girls) this week, was spotted on a balcony at the Ritz Hotel in Paris, France this week posing for a Harper’s Bazaar magazine photoshoot. Taking a page from the girl power vibe of her new song, Bey was photographed in a few powerful Evita-like poses. Check out some of the pics below.


As you may recall, when last we saw Beyoncé here on the blog, she was much more dressed down during her visit to Disneyland Paris. While I think I much prefer the photos of her rockin’ the Goofy hat at Disneyland, these photos aren’t bad either. She looks pretty fabulous in this fancy outfit, don’t you think? It’s clear … Beyoncé runs the world … or at least, that’s what she wants us to believe ;)

A Most Eggs-cellent Day

Yesterday was David’s and my first full day here at his parent’s house in Connecticut and I’m not gonna lie … it was a very quiet day. Because we’re out in the country (ie. woods that get so dark at night that you half expect to see murderers, vampires or flesh-eating zombies roaming around in the back yard), there really ain’t much to do. For the most part, I spent a nice relaxing day reading and hanging out with David’s family. BUT, by nightfall (presumably to distract from the fact that the darkness outside looks like a horror film waiting to happen), it was time to dye Easter Eggs!


David’s family celebrates Passover and Easter so while we will be having a Seder Dinner tonight, we will be hunting for Easter Eggs tomorrow morning. Fun Fun Fun all around. We made eggs for everyone in the family as well as some of our friends (like Emma and Josh) and just had a fun time getting messy and hanging out.

The BIG fun will get started in a few hours, tho. I LOVE having Seder Dinner with David’s family. I brought some fun Passover toys and I’ll be wearing my very own yarmulke (which I procured in Berlin last month at the Jewish Museum) for the first time so … I’m excited! I’ll be sure to post photos on Twitter thruout dinner and, of course, I’ll share them here on the blog tomorrow. Happy Saturday! I hope it’s a great one for all y’all!!

Rachel Bilson & Hayden Christensen Surface In Public Together On A Beach In Barbados

Last August we learned that Rachel Bilson and Hayden Christensen, who had been engaged to be wed despite never ever being seen together in public, ended their relationship and called off their engagement. Then, last month, representatives for the couple decided to chirp up and deny that the couple had split and insisted that they were still very much together. In an attempt to fortify those claims, RayDen made their way to Barbados this week for a little vacay … and wouldn’t you know it … they were actually photographed in one another’s close proximity! They must be together then!!

Rachel Bilson made a jaw-dropping exit from the Caribbean sea today. All eyes were on the 29-year-old actress, who looked exceptional in a black bikini whilst holidaying in Barbados. Those included her boyfriend Hayden Christensen, who stayed close to his impeccably toned girlfriend in her skimpy two-piece. The OC beauty has clearly been working out judging by her flat muscular stomach and slim legs. A stunning natural beauty, Rachel went make-up free for the beach outing, simply tying her hair up in a loose bun. Circling around her in the water, 30-year-old Hayden was clearly smitten with the smouldering brunette. He later showed off a snippet of his own beach body in a pair of black board shorts as the couple dried off. This is the second time in two weeks that Rachel and Hayden have been spotted together this week. The on-again, off-again couple took a romantic bike ride around Beverly Hills together on Tuesday. It was the first time that Hayden and Rachel have been spotted together for some time. The couple first began dating in 2007, and became engaged a year later, but they’ve weathered several breakups and makeups since then.

These two have such a strange relationship. It’s kind of odd that they are never seen together … but I guess their private natures are to be admired? In the end, if they are happy that is all that matters. I guess the fact that the couple are holidaying together means, at the very least, that they are friendly again. The couple may even be dating officially again but … do you think they’re still engaged to be married? HMMM.

A New Tori Amos Album Is Rumored To Be On The Way

Heads up, Tori Amos fans … there is a new rumor going around that Tori Amos is planning to release a new album very soon … at some point this year. According to a new report, Tori‘s new album is rumored to be titled Reckless Night (tho, others claim it may be titled Restless Night). Additionally, new information about Tori‘s musical The Light Princess (which she has been working on for a few years, scheduled for a 2012 release) has been revealed. It sounds like we are about to get a whole lotta Tori music very soon!

Some unsubstantiated new has surfaced about Tori Amos's new release. Some people are saying that the new album will be called Reckless Night, which is too mundane, but we will go with it. We know she has been working on The Light Princess musical adamantly so this weirds us out as to the time of the release. Anyway, we love anything from Tori, even if it's alleged.

It’s interesting that news of a new album is starting to surface because I’ve been hearing murmurs that Tori is planning a new tour this Fall. If Tori is going on tour, she has to have a new album to promote, right? Now, take all of this with a huge grain of salt … but it is about time for Tori Amos to release a new album so … let’s keep our fingers crossed, shall we?

Now, as for The Light Princess … we’ve known for a while that Tori was planning the release of her first musical for 2012 … and in order to do so, she had to copyright the music for the show. As a result, the titles of the songs from The Light Princess are now known:

Jake Gyllenhaal Shaves His Head BALD For A New Film

When last we saw Jake Gyllenhaal out and about, he was rockin’ a full head of hair at the Hollywood premiere of his film Source Code. Today we learn that Jake has since shaved his head — completely — for a new movie role. The completely bald Jake and his co-star Michael Peña were spotted on a promotional photoshoot this weekend for their new film End of Watch. Get an eyeful of Jake‘s new hair’do below.

For his role in Princes Of Persia, he grew his hair out into a long flowing mane. But now Jake Gyllenhaal has gone to the opposite extreme for his new acting gig by shaving his hair down to his scalp. The 30-year-old sported the bald look while on the set of a promotional shoot for his new film End Of Watch in Downtown Los Angeles yesterday. Jake plays one of two police officers in the drama which is centred around their long term friendship and working relationship. During the shoot, which also featured Jake’s co-star Michael Pena, the two men were seen posing against the Downtown LA backdrop as well as shooting guns and getting in and out of a police car. Both men wore the traditional LAPD dark blue uniform during the action packed afternoon shoot. The film is being written and directed by David Ayres, the man who wrote the Denzel Washington smash hit Training Day.

OY! I am SO not in love with this look. I prefer my Jakey poo hairy … BUT, I guess he does look all tough and stuff for this new role. I’m sure it’ll take some getting used to but I’m sure I’ll find an affinity for Jake‘s shaved head. To be honest, I can’t really see Jake in a seriously serious role so … we’ll have to see how this film turns out. What do y’all think of Jake‘s new ‘do? Do you like it? Does it turn you on?

Paula Malcomson Is Cast As Katniss Everdeen’s Mother In ‘The Hunger Games’

Woo!! I’ve got some new casting news for the movie adaptation of The Hunger Games to pass along. The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Caprica actress Paula Malcomson has been cast as Katniss and Prim Everdeen‘s mother. In the trilogy of books, the mom’s name is never mentioned … she is only referred to as mom or mother … but, first name or not, Malcomson will play her in the film.

Katniss and Prim's mother has been cast in Lionsgate's Hunger Games movie adaptation. Paula Malcomson, who recently starred in Syfy's Battlestar Galactica prequel Caprica, has landed the role, joining Jennifer Lawrence (Katniss) and Willow Shields (Prim) as her daughters. In the books, Katniss and Prim's mother is grieving after her husband's death, living in fear that her daughters will participate in the deadly Hunger Games … Malcomson, who has also appeared in HBO's Deadwood and FX's Sons of Anarchy, is repped by UTA and Seven Summits. The film is in theaters March 23, 2012.

You know, it never EVER occurred to me that Katniss and Prim‘s mom never had a name in any of the books. I just recently finished the final book in the trilogy and it never dawned on me — not once — that she is never referred to by anything other than mom or mother. Clearly, the fact that she does not have a name is intentional … hopefully that convention will be preserved in the film version as well. Unless author Suzanne Collins decides to give her a name for the film, I hope she will only be referred to as mom or mother. To be honest, I don’t know any of Paula Malcomson‘s work but she really does look the part in these promo photos from Caprica. The pale color and cold blue eyes seem very fitting for the role of Katniss‘s emotionally fragile mother. I have no cause for complaint with this casting. So far, so good … I am really on board with pretty much all the Hunger Games casting thus far.

Britney Spears & Nicki Minaj Party With The Gays In West Hollywood

Late yesterday, a remix of Britney Spears‘s new single Till The World Ends leaked its way to the Internets 2 days before it was due to be released. Titled Sicker Than The Remix, the track features guest appearances by Nicki Minaj and Ke$ha. To celebrate the song’s early release, Britney decided to join Nicki at her afterparty celebration at The Factory in West Hollywood, CA last night. What ensued was total ecstatic chaos by every person in the hiz at The Factory last night.

Because Britney and Nicki are going to be spending a lot of time together on tour this Summer, it makes sense that they would want to spend some time getting to know one another. Partying with the gays seems as an opportunity as any other ;) GAH! If I were back in LA, I would’ve SO been at The Factory last night. I’ve known about Nicki‘s appearance at The Factory for weeks now … but had I known Britney would’ve been there …. I think I would’ve figured a way to be back home in time to party with them ;) In any event, I understand a great time was had by ALL! Ugh … Im so jealous ;)
