Obama Birth Certificate Is A Fake, at least that is what some conspiracy sites are claiming.

After spending millions of dollars preventing his long form birth certificate from being released, The White House and President Obama finally relented to the growing scrutiny, fueled by Donald Trump, among others and released a copy of the very document that many claimed did not exist.

The release of the Obama’s long form birth certificate certainly must have taken the wind out of the sails of all the so called birthers, who claim that Obama was not constitutionally eligible to hold the office of President, due to his place of birth being in a foreign country.

But some inquiring minds have taken the document (which is available for download from the Whitehouse website) and opened it in Adobe Illustrator (digital editing software) and have found some strange anomalies.

The document released by the Whitehouse is purported to be a scanned copy of the original. The document available for download is a pdf. Nothing unusual there, anyone with a pdf reader such as the free one provided by Adobe can view the document. So, all good, or is it.

What some people have done is open the pdf in Adobe Illustrator (image editing software). What this has shown is that rather then being one single file, the document has been constructed in layers, which would not happen unless the document has either been created from scratch and not from a scanned copy at all, i.e. completely Faked, or alternatively, a document was scanned and then edited in image editing software to create the resulting document.

Either way, editing has been done on the document.

To give a quick explanation of why it has been edited, when a document is scanned, it is saved as one layer. You can think of a layer as one sheet of paper. The document released by the Whitehouse is made up of three separate layers, or sheets of paper if you like. Scanners do not do this, OCR software does not do this, meaning that at some stage, the document has been edited.

Once again though, this raises more questions then it gives answers. The layers can very easily be hidden, even by the most inexperienced graphic artist, so how was this error missed, or was it done deliberately?

There are other reported anomalies, which will probably gain greater discussion in the days ahead. Personally, I think it is simply a matter of someone doing some sloppy editing of the document, but I think the arguments will be running even hotter now.
