Watch: The ‘Scream 4’ Teaser Video From The 2010 Spike Scream Awards

Posted: 17 Oct 2010 11:50 AM PDT

The first footage from the much-anticipated sequel film Scream 4 was shown last night at the taping of the 2010 Spike Scream Awards (which I had the extreme pleasure of attending in person myself) as Wes Craven, Neve Campbell, David Arquette and Emma Roberts presented the World Premiere of a new teaser video trailer for the film. Here is our first look at that footage which — I must clarify — was not recorded by me, is filmed at an extreme angle and is presented in low quality … but still is a pretty good first look at Scream 4:

This teaser clip will be broadcast in beautiful HD on Tuesday night when the 2010 Spike Scream Awards air on Spike TV so make sure you tune in to watch. I know there are a lot of Scream fans in the hiz, so I hope you enjoy this sneak peek at the film. We get to see a lot in this first footage … it really looks like Scream 4 is kinda be all kinds of kick-ass! Woot!!

The 2010 Spike Scream Awards Are Handed Out

Posted: 17 Oct 2010 11:40 AM PDT

Spike TV held its annual Scream Awards at the Greek Theater in Hollywood, CA last night and they managed to get some of the biggest names in Hollywood to come out and party with the fanboys. From Sir Anthony Hopkins to Halle Berry, comic legend Bill Murry to director Christopher Nolan — the iconic Sigourney Weaver … the 2010 Spike Scream Awards were a Who’s Who of the biggest names in Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Comic Books, Horror, Video Games, TV, Movies and MORE! Here are some of the folks who strutted their stuff on the red carpet last night along with some spoilery deets from Access Hollywood about what went down at last night’s taping of the Spike Scream Awards (which won’t air until Tuesday October 19):

Ghouls and goblins… Fanboys and freaks… Not to mention, huge stars including Halle Berry, Kristen Stewart, James Cameron, Megan Fox, Mickey Rourke and Michael J. Fox… They all were out in full force for Spike TV's 5th Annual "SCREAM 2010" awards on Saturday night at the Greek Theatre nestled deep in the woods of LA's Griffith Park. More than just a frightfest, this still young event has become an awards show for the Comic-Con crowd – honoring sci-fi fare like nomination-leading film "Inception" and TV's "Lost," as well as the more expected genre nominees like "A Nightmare on Elm Street" and "Zombieland." The atmosphere was nothing short of inspired. Fans were all dressed up as their favorite characters. The elaborate "Inception"-designed stage was accented by a giant replica of the film's famous spinning top. A giant full moon (at times becoming a circular saw or the "Back to the Future" watchtower clock) dominated the backdrop. The presenter platforms were circled by gargoyles spitting fire from their mouths and the trophy ladies were dressed as Natalie Portman's character in the upcoming "Black Swan." The evening began with Halle Berry in a shiny mini-dress, introducing the night's most nominated project, "Inception." Director Christopher Nolan was on hand to accept on behalf of the dream-bending film's six wins for the night. In true Comic-Con fashion, some of the most anticipated films of the upcoming year used the night to introduce first looks at footage. Neve Campbell, David Arquette, Emma Roberts and Wes Craven were on hand to world premiere the first footage of "Scream 4," which drew a huge fan reaction. Other first look world premieres included: "Paranormal Activity 2," Rainn Wilson on hand to present "Super," AMC's new original series "The Walking Dead," Anthony Hopkins on hand to present "The Rite," new footage from "Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows," and new scenes from the upcoming DVD release of "Avatar." The biggest crowd reaction of the night came when Bill Murray came out in a Ghostbusters costume (accompanied by Ray Parker Jr.'s famous theme song) to accept on behalf of "Zombieland" for its win for Best Horror Film. "It's all I had that was clean," he declared to an ecstatic crowd. Reunions were also a big theme for the evening. David Spade introduced Christopher Lloyd and Michael J. Fox, who were on hand to promote the 25th anniversary re-release of the "Back to the Future" trilogy. The film's famous DeLorean even made an appearance … Other highlights of the night included James Cameron introducing a special award to Sigourney Weaver (who emerged from a giant "Alien" egg)… a music video from Break.com featuring Seth Green, Stan Lee and Katee Sackhoff called "Geek & Gamer Gurls," set to the tune of Katy Perry's "California Gurls"… And the best line of the night, which came courtesy of Sarah Silverman: "I just met Megan Fox backstage and she should totally be in Eli Roth's next movie…. But even if she's not, I hope she gets tortured and decapitated anyways."

Since I was lucky enough to attend the Scream Awards last night, I got to watch all of the awesomeness unfold live on stage … and I had a blast. You must tune in Tuesday night to watch … this year’s Spike Scream Awards is by far the best one yet … and it only promises to keep getting better! If you can’t wait for Tuesday to see some of the memorable moments from the 2010 Spike Scream Awards, you can check out some photos from the show — after the jump …

My Saturday Night Was A ‘Scream’

Posted: 17 Oct 2010 11:21 AM PDT

Last night I was graciously invited to attend the 2010 Spike Scream Awards which were taped at the Greek Theater here in Hollywood, CA and I have to tell you, I had a really fantastic time. Some award shows are just more trouble than they are worth … the red carpet can be a bit of a nightmare and sometimes the staging and production are pretty lame … not so of the Scream Awards this year:

The Spike Scream Awards are still kinda new so the show hasn’t gotten too big and, therefore, unfun. This year, Spike managed to get some of THE biggest names in Hollywood to attend … making for not only a really fun awards show but THE best Spike Scream Awards yet. After the jump, check out some of the photos that I snapped on the red carpet last night …

My fave people to talk to last night on the red carpet were Rutina Wesley from True Blood and Micah Sloat from Paranormal Activity. I love their work so much but they were really sweet, very humble and so much fun to chat with. I’m not even kidding you, Rutina is my fave actress and character on True Blood … it was a thrill getting to meet her. I think my fave photo is the last one above — in it you can see in order Henry Ian Cusick (Desmond on Lost), Ian Somerhalder (Damon on The Vampire Diaries, Boone on Lost), Horror Movie god Wes Craven and in the background Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer (both from True Blood). With categories that honor the Most Memorable Mutilation, Best Fantasy Movie and, I kid you not, the Holy Shit Scene of the Year it’s clear that Spike has geared this awards show directly at the fans. The audience was full of horror, sci-fi, comic, video game and all around geeky fans and it was clear … everyone had a blast. I was lucky enough to get seated next to my good friend Jeremy and we had so much fun:

I’ll follow this post with more photos from the red carpet and the show itself along with deets about who won what last night. You MUST, I repeat … YOU MUST tune in Tuesday night to watch the 2010 Spike Scream Awards when they air. There is so much geeky goodness in the show, you do NOT want to miss it.

Plans for today … well, since it’s raining, I’ll prolly stay in for much of the day … but hopefully I’ll get to meet up with Darion for a dinner/movie date later on. Have a great Sunday, y’all!

Hot Dude Of The Week: Andreas Orihuela

Posted: 17 Oct 2010 10:47 AM PDT

Huzzah!! ‘Tis time, once again, to gawk and gander at the Hot Dude of the Week! Today’s fine specimen of Hot Dudeness hails from my home State of Michigan and was photographed by the extremely talented Liem Pham. Say hello to Andreas Orihuela:

I understand that the young Master Andreas is new to modeling but I’d say, based on just this photo alone, he is off to a great start. There are many things I love about my home State of Michigan, not the least of which is its natural beauty … as you can see, we grow ‘em nice and fine in the Wolverine State. Enjoy!!

Jake Gyllenhaal Attends The Opening Of The First Edible Schoolyard In Brooklyn, NY

Posted: 17 Oct 2010 10:38 AM PDT

The insanely hot Jake Gyllenhaal attended the official opening of Brooklyn, NY’s first ever Edible Schoolyard at P.S. 216 on Friday afternoon. Here are a few photos of Jake munching on an apple that was grown in the schoolyard and some deets about the program at P.S. 216:

P.S. 216 is giving its students a rare learning opportunity and a chance to pick up some culinary skills along the way. The Brooklyn school is the first New York affiliate of the "Edible Schoolyard Program." The school will start offering gardening and cooking classes with the use of a garden and a state of the art kitchen. Christiane Baker of the Edible Schoolyard NYC said kids from kindergarten to fifth grade will learn how to grow their own produce and prepare nutritious meals using food from the garden. "We have the power to help eradicate the childhood obesity epidemic and it's programs like Edible Schoolyard NYC that are working to do just that," Baker said. Edible Schoolyard plans to expand the program in more than 25 schools in Brooklyn. The organization also plans to create an edible academy in each of the five boroughs.

Firstly, how amazing does this Edible Schoolyard sound? What an inventive way to teach kids that healthy eating can be fun. I love everything about this program and cannot wait for it to expand to the rest of the boroughs of NYC. Here’s hoping that programs like this can spread out across the US in an effort to teach kids healthy eating habits early on.

But let’s get back to Jake … I mean, are you kidding me with these photos? Is it just me or does Jakey poo make eating an apple look incredibly sexy? I mean … yeah … he’s not doing anything other than eating an apple just the the rest of us would but … there’s something about the way he does it. Le sigh. Le swooooon! After the jump, check out a couple photos of Jake posing with the children and city officials who came out for this opening event on Friday …

Jake is just the best … I love that he wanted to be at an event like this. And I don’t know about you but I’m gonna run out to the Farmer’s Market to buy me a bag of apples. I suddenly have a strong craving.

Neil Patrick Harris & David Burtka Take The Little Ones Out For A Walk

Posted: 17 Oct 2010 10:12 AM PDT

New daddies Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka stepped out in public together yesterday morning for the first time since they announced the arrival of the couple’s twin children Gideon Scott and Harper Grace on Friday afternoon. As you can see, NPH and David stepped out with their wee little ones … their dogs, that is:

HMMM … I suppose since the guys are new dads, it’s to be expected that they might make a few mistakes with their tiny babies … the kids were prolly safely tucked away in a sock drawer back home, I’m sure they were fine. Neil posted a new tweet update on his official Twitter profile about life with newborns, check it out after the jump …

OY … could these two be any cuter? Hellz yes they can … as soon as we get to see them out and about with their twin babies. I predict that we will get to meet Gideon Scott and Harper Grace on the cover of People magazine … stay tuned.

Jordan Bratman Enjoys Some Bonding Time With Son Max Liron

Posted: 17 Oct 2010 09:28 AM PDT

In the wake of his pending divorce from wife Christina Aguilera, who is currently in Hawaii enjoying a bit of rest and relaxation from all her personal drama alone with friends, Jordan Bratman spent part of his Friday enjoying a bit of alonetime bonding with his son Max Liron. As you may recall, on the day that Xtina filed for divorce from Jordy last Thursday, she and Max enjoyed a playdate together at the Mr. Bones Pumpkin Patch in Beverly Hills, CA just hours before she jetted off to Hawaii. This weekend, it was Jordan‘s turn to go out and play with the couple’s son:

Jordan and Max grabbed a bite to eat at Figaro Cafe here in LA and then scooted off to, presumably, do some other fun father and stuff together. Max is such a little cutie, it SUCKS so bad that now he’ll have to be jostled back and forth between his parents … I sincerely hope that Xtina and Jordan put his needs before their own. I’m kinda glad that Xtina left Max here in SoCal with his father while she plays in Hawaii … I’m certain that she will be getting more time with Max as the couple moves forward in their divorce, so I’m just glad to see that she is willing to share custody so easily. Ugh … break-ups like this are so sad. I just wish the best for the family … as they move forward in splitting up.

Oprah Winfrey & Gayle King Enjoy A Pajama Party In The Woods

Posted: 17 Oct 2010 09:15 AM PDT

A few weeks ago, BFFs and business partners Oprah Winfrey and Gayle King went on a little vacay together in Yosemite National Park in the great State of California … but the very wealthy ladies didn’t just go camping in posh style, oh no, they actually got down and dirty and did some real camping … well, kinda. An industrious fellow camper managed to snap some photos of Oprah and Gayle on their little camping trip and, naturally, TMZ got their hands on the snaps:

Oprah Winfrey and Gayle King weren’t just doing a little fly fishing during their recent trip to Yosemite National Park — they full out became one with nature. A fellow camper snapped these pics of O and Gayle during their camping expedition a few weeks back. And even though they were surrounded by a camera crew for Oprah’s show, O took it upon herself to scramble up some eggs for breakfast … in her favorite pair of PJs.

LMAO!! I LOVE these photos! Gayle is chillin’ on a chair beneath her warm and comfy blanket and Oprah is cookin’ some grub in her pajamas … does life get much better than this? I don’t think so. As odd as it is to see Oprah lookin’ so normal, I think it’s a sight of her that folks should get to see more often. TMZ has a few more photos from the ladies’ camping trip HERE. It looks like the BFFs had themselves a great time :)

‘Leave It Beaver’ TV Mom Barbara Billingsley Passes Away At 94

Posted: 17 Oct 2010 09:06 AM PDT

Very sad news to pass along today … actress Barbara Billingsley, the woman who played the iconic TV mother June Cleaver in the 1950′s on the wildly successful TV series Leave It To Beaver, passed away of an undisclosed illness at the age of 94 in her home in Santa Monica, CA early yesterday morning. I think you’d be hard-pressed to find anyone in America over the age of 20 who doesn’t know and love the character of June Cleaver … she was the perfect mom … and she will be missed:

Barbara Billingsley, who wore a classy pearl necklace and dispensed pearls of wisdom as America’s quintessential mom on “Leave it to Beaver,” has died at age 94, a family spokeswoman said Saturday. The actress passed away at 2 a.m. (5 a.m. ET) Saturday at her home in Santa Monica, California, after a long illness, spokeswoman Judy Twersky said. A private memorial is being planned. Actor Jerry Mathers, who played Theodore “Beaver” Cleaver, called Billingsley a lifetime mentor. “Barbara was a patient advisor and teacher. She helped me along this challenging journey through life by showing me the importance of manners, and respect for others,” Mathers said in a statement. “She will be missed by all of her family, friends, fans and most especially by me.” Tony Dow, who played Beaver’s brother, Wally Cleaver, also reflected on Billingsley’s legacy. “She was as happy as a lark being recognized as America’s mom,” Dow told CNN’s Don Lemon. “She had a terrific life and had a wonderful impact on everybody she knew, and even people she didn’t know.” The actress won a new legion of fans in a brief, but memorable, scene in the 1980 send-up movie “Airplane.” “Oh, stewardess. I speak jive,” Billingsley said in her role — much different from her June Cleaver persona — as an elderly passenger comforting an ill man on the flight. She, the sick man and his seat companion engaged in street-slang banter. From the moment its catchy theme song sounded in black-and-white TV sets of the 1950s, “Leave it to Beaver” enthralled Americans during a time of relative prosperity and world peace. Its characters represented middle-class white America. June Cleaver dutifully pecked the cheek of her husband, Ward (played by the late Hugh Beaumont), when he came home to learn about the latest foibles — nothing serious — committed by Beaver and Wally. “Ward, I’m very worried about the Beaver,” was a common refrain. The parents would dispense moralistic advice to their sons. The boys’ friends included Lumpy and the obsequious Eddie Haskell, who avoided trouble and often buttered up Ward and June. “That’s a lovely dress you’re wearing, Mrs. Cleaver,” Eddie would typically say to Billingsley’s character. Perhaps fittingly, “Leave it to Beaver” was canceled in 1963 on the eve of the JFK assassination, the Vietnam War and the tumult of the 1960s … Asked once to compare real-life families to TV families, Billingsley responded, “I just wish that we could have more families like those. Family is so important, and I just don’t think we have enough people staying home with their babies and their children.”

Leave It To Beaver is one of those classic TV shows that leaves an indelible mark on those who are familiar with it … yes, the show painted am image of the perfect American family (which cynics can easily dismiss as pure fantasy) but there is something about the wholesomeness of the show that makes it so endearing. In the stable of classic TV moms, I’d argue that June Cleaver is among the most iconic … all due to the talent of Ms. Barbara Billingsley. In the 1980 film Airplane, Billingsley pretty much shocked everyone with her comedic portrayal of a white woman who could speak jive, proving that she was capable of entertaining more than one kind of audience. I’m sorry to hear that she suffered from a “long illness” but if there is any comfort that can be taken from this sad news, it’s that 94 is not a bad age to pass away. Barbara Billingsley will live in the hearts and minds of TV fans for all time … may she rest well in eternal peace.
