Willow Smith Explains The Meaning Of ‘Whip My Hair’

Pint sized pop diva Willow Smith is on the promo trail doing interviews and generally hyping up her new single Whip My Hair, which debuted in music video form on Monday. In an interview with MTV yesterday, Willow talked about how much fun she had on the music video set and explained the message that she is trying to convey in Whip My Hair:

Willow Smith had a little help from her friends on the set of the video for “Whip My Hair.” In the clip, which premiered Monday, Roc Nation’s latest signee, joined by her crew of pint-size girls, turns a drab classroom into a kaleidoscope of color with a few energetic flicks of her paint-dipped braids. “Having my Warriorettes there, my best friends caring — Jade, Angel Punky, they’re just all my best friends — and my family there just made it even better,” Willow told MTV News about the shoot when she stopped by Tuesday (October 19). “Me and my friends were touching the oranges, ’cause they were, like, real oranges but they were spray-painted,” she said. “It was gooey,” she added, turning up her nose at the recollection. The 9-year-old progeny of A-list actors Will and Jada Pinkett Smith explained that her BFFs are her Warriorettes, a supportive team that fully subscribes to the ethos espoused by her smash single “Whip My Hair.” The outgoing tween, who describes her style as “schoolgirl-meets-punk rock,” also opened up about the significance of the track. “‘Whip My Hair’ means don’t be afraid to be yourself,” Smith explained, “and don’t let anybody tell you that that’s wrong. Because the best thing is you.”

Filming Continues On ‘Sherlock Holmes 2’

On Monday we got our first look at photos from the UK set of Sherlock Holmes 2 and today we get to see new photos from the set as filming production continues. Here is a batch of photos of Jude Law, who plays Sherlock sidekick Dr. John Watson, getting direction (and fashion tips?) from his boss Guy Ritchie:


As you may recall, yesterday we saw a couple photos of Jude, Guy and fellow BFF Robert Downey, Jr. chillin’ out together at a UFC fight at the O2 Arena in London last weekend. But, it’s not all play for the Three Amigos … see, they actually work too. After the jump, check out one more photo that shows all three BFFs on set together …


I know it’s difficult to imagine how these friends manage to get any work done when they are together but their awesome chemistry really shows thru in the final product. I really loved Sherlock Holmes and I cannot wait to see part 2. I also can’t wait to see more photos of these 3 guys out and about together.

Sandra Bullock & Louis Bardo Surface In Texas

When last we saw newish mommy Sandra Bullock out in public with her beautiful baby boy Louis Bardo, the pair were here in SoCal paying a visit to a local doctor for a scheduled check-up. Today we get to see new photos of Sandra and Louis out and about running errands in Austin, TX near their home there … and as you can see, Louis Bardo has managed to get even cuter than before:

She has just been named the world’s most powerful actress, but it’s clear what matters most to Sandra Bullock – her role as a mother. While the Oscar-winner can demand millions of dollars per film, it seems she enjoys nothing more than spending time with ten-month-old Louis. Shunning the Hollywood lifestyle, yesterday she was spotted juggling childcare with puppy training as she took her pets to the Train My Dogs store near her Texas home. It came as she was named the world’s most powerful actress in a respected annual list of film, TV and music stars. Sandra beat more established names like Julia Roberts and Angelina Jolie on the list compiled by Entertainment Weekly magazine. She was praised for handling the break-up of he marriage to Jesse James with ‘savvy and grace’. The editors of the magazine said: ‘Every movie fans now sympathises with her, every media outlet covets her and every studio executive want to be in business with her.’ Sandra once again showed the down to earth side as she adeptly carried her baby son with one arm yesterday. Dressed down Sandra even jumped over a dog cage on her way back to the car. A helpful store assistant carried dog beds and led Sandra’s three-legged rescue dog Ruby out to her car, receiving a grateful hug from the busy mother. Sandra and Louis have just returned to their home in Austin, Texas from a break in Anguilla.

BAH! I can’t EVEN take it … Louis Bardo is just too damn cute for words. He’s got one of those adorable baby faces that just want to mush and squeeze and kiss and pinch and rub your face in. When you couple his adorably cute face with his little hi-top fade hair’do … OY! Sooo cute. Sandra Bullock is a very lucky woman … she gets to see this beautiful little face every single day.

Will Mark Wahlberg Star In The Planned Movie Remake Of ‘The Crow’?

It appears that plans to remake the amazing 1994 film The Crow are still moving forward despite the fact that production has, seemingly, hit a few roadblocks. In November of last year we first learned that plans were in the works to remake The Crow and in February of this year we learned that production was due to begin filming over the Summer … since then, tho, there has been no word on the status of the film … until now. Today we learn from Bloody Disgusting that the lead role of Eric Draven/The Crow has been offered to, get this, Marky Mark Wahlberg!

Bloody Disgusting has confirmed exclusively that Mark Wahlberg was offered the lead role in Relativity Media’s The Crow, a remake of the 1994 film that starred Brandon Lee as a man (Eric Draven) brutally murdered that comes back to life as an undead avenger of his and his fiancée’s murder. The film was an adaptation of James O’Barr’s incredible comic series. Iconic musician and acclaimed screenwriter Nick Cave has been working on a rewrite with Stephen Norrington (Blade, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen ) attached to direct. The new tale is said to take place in Detroit. Now, the offer has been made, therefore Wahlberg could (and hopefully will) decline. I can’t say this news has me swimming in excitement.

UGH … as if the thought of a Crow remake didn’t worry me before, this news really worries me now. Nothing against Marky Mark but he doesn’t strike me as the right kind of actor to play the part. I am encouraged, I must confess, by the news that Nick Cave is working on the script … and really pleased that the movie will be set in Detroit, MI (as it should) but the fact that they offered the part to Marky Mark just … worries me. Now, just because he was offered the role doesn’t mean he’ll take it. Let’s hope that if this Crow remake has to get made that they find the right man to play the part … someone like Ryan Gosling?

Gettin’ Kerrie-d Away

Last night I got to spend some time with my dear friend Kerrie who is visiting LA this week. Kerrie and I go waaaaaaaaaaaay back and it had been ages since I saw her last. She lives on the West Coast now and we happened to reconnect right before she arrived in LA this week:


We had a great dinner at Vitello’s in Studio City, CA and managed to catch up on what’s been going on in each of our lives in the past few years. Kerrie is one of my favorite people … she and I had some great times back in the day. I’m so glad we’ve reconnected here on the West Coast.

No plans as of yet for tonight but I’m sure I can find something fun to occupy my time … hmmm. It’s Wednesday, y’all!! Happy Hump Day!

Lt. Dan Choi Reenlists In The US Military

Iraq War veteran Dan Choi, who was famously discharged from the US Military for being gay under the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy, made his way to a Military recruitment center in NYC, NY yesterday and today to reenlist in the US Military now that a federal judge has struck down the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy as unconstitutional. Under the judge’s order, US Military recruitment centers have been ordered to accept applications from gays who wish to enlist in the US Armed Forces. Choi shared his reenlistment attempt on his official Twitter profile, complete with a photo of his written application … which you can see and read here:

I’m headed to the Times Square Recruiting Station. / I’m gonna try to enlist in the Marines today. Anyone else can meet me at NYC Times Sq now. / Walking through Chelsea about to enlist; reminded of our beautiful diversity. This is what makes America worth defending. / In the recruiting station. Apparently I’m too old for the Marines! Just filled out the Army application. / In the recruiting station again, about to take the skills test for the army. / Refusing to lie on my army application! / Missed 3 verbal and 5 math questions. I passed!

Now, just because the US Military has been ordered to accept applications from openly gay people who wish to enlist in the Armed Forces now does NOT mean that they will be allowed to actually serve … but I have every hope that they will. The ruling that struck down DADT as unconstitutional is currently under appeal and it could be reversed … but you must applaud brave people like Dan Choi for working so tirelessly for the rights of gays to serve openly in the US Military if they so desire. In case you can’t read it in the photo above, here is Choi‘s open statement about his homosexuality on his US Military recruitment application:

I was discharged in 7/2010 from the US Army because I told the truth about my sexual orientation and refused to lie about my cherished lover and partner. I do not intend to lie about my identity for family in any portion of my service.

The days of treating the GLBT community as second-class citizens will, one day, be over … this is just another step toward that important goal.

Michael Lohan Issues A Statement That He Will No Longer Issue Statements

Michael Lohan, the fame-hungry estranged ex-con father of Lindsay Lohan, is known for doing some pretty dumb things … his hypocrisy is entirely laughable and nothing that he says can ever be taken seriously. It’s common knowledge that Lohan has never met a camera that he didn’t like … he’s been know to offer his $0.02 on pretty much any subject, and his most notable favorite subjects are his daughter Lindsay and his ex-wife Dina Lohan. Today, Michael Lohan has issued an official statement to CNN that makes clear that he will no longer be issuing statements:


In recent weeks, Daddy Lohan has been doing everything possible to try and weasel his way into the Betty Ford Center so that he can get close to his rehabbing daughter Lindsay … who has made it very clear that she wants NOTHING to do with him at all. Foiled at every turn, Michael has been very free with his official statements on his daughter’s troubles … but no more. According to his latest statement, Michael Lohan will be offering no more statements about his daughter or his ex-wife. After the jump, read Michael Lohan‘s official statement about the end of his official statements …

“After serious thought and conversation last night, with someone who means alot [sic]to me. I am making this statement and fully intend on living by it.

With all due respect to those who have both gotten on my nerves for reporting things that weren’t true, ( as well as things that were), I want to make a public statement that I will not be commenting on ANYTHING relating to my daughter Lindsay, or ANYTHING my ex wife Dina, or any ‘sources’ related to her, might say.

After all the things said and the incidents which have transpired, I realize that no matter how wrong or right I may have been, at the end of the day, I was wrong for offending my ex wife and my children. Because of the spotlight and scrutiny we have been under, as well as my own “pride,” which has caused pain to my mother, (deceased father), brother, sisters and their sibling[s], I realize how my statements and actions have had a ripple effect on all of them. If it was me alone, it would be one thing, but I’m not. The things I have said and done, have cased hurt , pain and embarrassment for all of them.

That being said, I make this statement in humble supplication. And NO MATTER what accusations, lies or conjecture are disseminated to the public, about me, for the sake of the ones I love and with hope of creating peace, I WILL NOT respond , in ANY way, to what is said or done, to me.

MY family’s health and well being matters too much.

For the sake of those I offended, I apologize and ask their forgiveness. But even if they can’t find it in their heart to forgive, like I forgive them. I KNOW that God will have the last word and defend me in His own way.

So please refrain from from calling or contacting me.”

You’ll pardon me if I choose to not believe Michael Lohan‘s statement. Man, would I LOVE for him to keep his word and shut up forever … but, alas, I don’t believe it … not for a single second. What do y’all think? Is Michael Lohan actually capable of keeping his promise to never speak to the media again?

Ryan Gosling Gets ‘Bloody’ On The Set Of ‘Drive’

When last we saw photos of hottie Ryan Gosling on the SoCal set of his new film Drive, he looked all greased up and dirty … and fine. Today we get to see new photos of Ryan on set, but this time he’s all bloody … and damn fine:


Lord have Mercy … I mean … what more is there to say. The man just looks hot even when he’s not trying to look hot. Toss a bit of fake blood on his v-neck shirt and, voila, instant sex. First it was grease, then blood … I wonder what other liquid Ryan will be slathered in for his next movie scene.

Watch: Rihanna, ‘Who’s That Chick?’ (Day & Night Versions)

Back in mid-September we got our first look at Rihanna‘s music video for her song Who’s That Chick? which leaked early to the Internets ahead of its scheduled release date. I guess the video was actually a commercial for Doritos or something … I’m not entirely sure. Today we get to check out the official release of the Who’s That Chick? music video … in two versions. First up, tho, here are a few promo photos that have been released to hype up the release of the two different videos for Who’s That Chick?


I guess Rihanna filmed two almost exact scene-by-scene versions of this video … one is the Day Version (the colorful video we saw last month) and the other is the Night Version (less color, more goth). Check out both videos side-by-side, after the jump …


I dunno … I like both vids. As garish as the Day Version video is, I really love the hyper-intensity of the color palette. The Night Version video is pretty cool, too. Try and watch the above embed in full screen mode so you can compare the vids more easily. Which one do you prefer?

Kristen Stewart & Robert Pattinson Surface On The Set Of ‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn’

On Monday we got our first look at Twilight star Taylor Lautner chillin’ on the set of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn with some crew guys and a cute dog in Baton Rouge, LA and today we get to see photos of his fellow co-stars (and rumored real life lovebirds) Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson on set as well … behold:


Now that the big 3 are on set, the work of filming Breaking Dawn can really get underway. I kinda love that Rob and Kristen showed up on set together … especially since the pair have been pretty inseparable for the past few months. While I wouldn’t count on the couple publicly confirming anything that may be going on between them, I also wouldn’t count on the couple shying away from being seen together. But … at least for the next couple of months, it’s gonna be work work work for the Twilight kids. Stay tuned … I’m sure we’ll be seeing a whole lot more from the Baton Rouge set of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn.

Christina Aguilera Is Enjoying The Single Life

Last weekend we got our first look at the newly single Christina Aguilera in Hawaii enjoying a bit of a single lady holiday just moments after she filed for divorce from her husband Jordan Bratman last Thursday. Today we get to see new photos of Xtina in Hawaii lookin’ like she was having the time of her life … sans hubby:

She may have split from husband Jordan Bratman a week ago, but it seems Christina Aguilera is determined to remain in high spirits. The singer looked relaxed and happy – but hardly inconspicuous – in a printed halter-neck maxi dress and straw hat as she spent time in Hawaii. Christina was visiting the island for the Grand Opening of Waikiki Edition Hotel … earlier this week. Christina, 29, was pictured walking arm and arm with two mystery men , no doubt part of her extensive entourage, as they set sail on a sunset boat ride. The blonde is fresh off of filing for divorce but seems to be taking it well and is keeping herself busy.

It would appear that Xtina is really enjoying life, despite the fact that her marriage is over. As sad as these break-ups are, it really sounds like this is the right thing for her … and that she is the one in the driver’s seat in terms of who is calling the shots in this divorce. I mean, let’s be real, Xtina has always been the one calling the shots in her marriage … I wholeheartedly believe that what Xtina wants, Xtina gets. I just hope that everything works out in the best way possible for Xtina and Jordy‘s son Max. I also hope that Jordan doesn’t get screwed as the divorce moves forward … he always struck me as a nice guy who truly loved his wife. It’d be a shame if he gets crushed under wheels of Xtina‘s powerhouse legal team.

Are Beyoncé & Jay-Z Expecting A Baby?

Possible congratulations are in order for happily marrieds Beyoncé and hubby Jay-Z because, according to US Weekly magazine, the couple are pregs with their first child. Now, thus far, the couple themselves have not commented on the report … but according to the magazine’s “sources close to the couple”, Beyoncé is pregs. Read on for the reported deets:

Beyonce Knowles better brush up on her lullabies. The 29-year-old singer is pregnant with her first child, the new Us Weekly reports. Despite the happy news, no one was more surprised than the singer herself. “B was shocked. She loves kids, but she wasn’t ready to be a mother just yet,” says a source of the singer, who married rapper Jay-Z in 2008. “She really wanted to get her album done and tour the world again.” Still, another insider says that the singer, who is in her first trimester, realizes that “this is a gift from God and she’s so happy.” Friends of the couple are already expressing their well-wishes for the parents-to-be. “Jay has been all about family since I met him, and he’s always going to be,” record executive Kevin Liles, who has known the rapper for years, tells Us. “I wish them the best.” Knowles’ sister Solange — and mom to Julez, 6 — agrees. “She’s got the most beautiful heart,” she tells Us of her big sis. “She’ll be a great mom.”

There’s no question that B-Jay would make great parents … and I’m sure pretty much everyone would LOVE for the incredibly talented couple to spawn but … I ain’t buyin’ this report just yet. In the last few months, the rumor cycle was claiming that it was Mariah Carey who is pregs (and claim that has, thus far, not be substantiated or proved) so now it seems that Beyoncé is the latest target of rumors. While I would be thrilled to learn that this news is true … I think I’ll wait to hear it from the couple themselves.
