First Look: 30 Seconds To Mars, ‘Hurricane’

Earlier this month we got our first look at Jared Leto stripped to the waist on the set of the new 30 Seconds to Mars music video for their new single Hurricane and today we get our first look at footage from the soon-to-be-released video, behold:


I understand the video for Hurricane will be a 20 minute long short film, which means that 30StM frontman Jared Leto has been taking advice from Kanye West (who just released a 30 minute music video of his own in support of his new album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and who collaborates with 30StM on Hurricane). After the jump, check out 2 short preview videos that give us a taste of what’s in store when the Hurricane music video drops any day now …



Yes, the video looks like it’ll be a bit weird … but the promise of shirtless Jared Leto makes the video a must see in my book. I can’t wait to see just how elaborate Hurricane will turn out. Thus far, I like what I see … do you?

Mark Wahlberg Says That He Will NOT Play The Crow In The Redux Film

Last month we read a disheartening report that claimed that Marky Mark Wahlberg was in talks to play The Crow in the planned upcoming remake film (which was scheduled to begin filming over the Summer). Today we hear from Marky Mark himself and, thankfully, he reveals that he will NOT be playing The Crow … much to my immense relief:

Mark Whalberg, star and producer of the new movie ‘The Fighter,’ told Cinematical that contrary to earlier reports, he is not going to be a part of the forthcoming remake of ‘The Crow.’ “We never committed to making the movie,” Wahlberg said in a one-on-one interview in Los Angeles on Saturday. “They talked to me about it and there was a director attached who I was a fan of, and he’s no longer doing it. We just thought about it – ‘is there something cool to be done there?’ But we’re not committed to making the movie.”

Mark Ruffalo Does ‘GQ’ Magazine

Mark Ruffalo is among the men featured in GQ magazine’s new Men of the Year issue and as you can see in this scan from the mag, he is not shy about showing off how furry he really is underneath all that clothing:


As you may recall, Ruffalo was recently cast as Bruce Banner/The Hulk in the upcoming Joss Whedon directed film The Avengers so it’s already quite common knowledge that the man is a sexy beast. Now, The Hulk — who is always shirtless — isn’t very hairy, he’s just green. To be honest, I think I much prefer hairy beast Mark Ruffalo just the way he is … ungreen and unmanscaped. He looks hot, don’t he? Woof, indeed!

Christian Bale Says The Next Batman Film May Be His Last

In a new interview with Christian Bale, he makes clear that the next Batman film — The Dark Knight Rises — will be his last … that is, unless he hears differently from director Christopher Nolan. Bale is currently on the promo train for his new film The Fighter and was asked about the just announced next Batman film … here is what he had to say:

This may be the end for the Dark Knight. The caped crusader himself, Christian Bale, recently sat down with E! News’ own Ben Lyons to talk about how he chooses his roles to clearing up rumors surrounding The Dark Knight Rises. Turns out, Bale has a very straightforward technique for sifting through all the speculation: “Until Chris [Nolan] tells me, I don’t believe it,” Bale says. “It’s gotta be from his mouth, or else I don’t really know.” But there’s one very important bit of information Nolan hasn’t yet shared with his star. And it’s kind of difficult to hear if you’re a fan of the reinvigorated franchise: “The thing is that this will be, I believe, unless Chris says different, this will be the last time I’m playing Batman.” Let’s just hope Chris says different.

It makes sense that Bale might believe that his days as Batman might be over after the next film, after all, these sorts of movie franchises really only last for 3 films. BUT, as we have learned from Johnny Depp‘s portrayal of Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean films, there’s always a chance that movie franchises can live beyond just 3 films. While I think it is very smart for Bale to not believe anything he hears until he hears it from Christopher Nolan himself, I wouldn’t necessarily count on his Batman days being over just yet. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

Remasterpiece

Yesterday was a pretty quiet day for me … I woke up with a bit of a sore throat so I spent all day yesterday doing everything I could to keep from feeling worse. My mood was lifted greatly by the arrival of the remastered re-release of Nine Inch Nails‘s debut album Pretty Hate Machine:


As you may recall, we learned late last month that Pretty Hate Machine – The 2010 Remaster would be released this month and yesterday was the day. I’ve been listening to the gloriously remastered album ever since it arrived. I can’t even express how much Pretty Hate Machine means to me … I vividly remember when it was released back in 1989 … and here it is, released once again. This time around I purchased the CD version, the Vinyl version and the digital version … happy to support the genius of Nine Inch Nails.

Last night, David and I went to a screening of a film that I can’t talk about yet … but I’ll be sure to post my write-up as soon as I’m able.

David flies back home to Connecticut today so I’ll be flying solo here in SoCal for the rest of the week. I’m actually looking forward to the alonetime … and hopefully, to be feeling better ;D

Britney Spears & Brett Miller Go On A Coffee Run

Our dear Britney Spears, stylishly bundled up for the chilly SoCal weather, stepped out for a little lunch date with her assistant/BFF Brett Miller in Calabasas, CA yesterday afternoon. As you can see, Britney and Brett paid a visit to their local Starbucks coffee shop to get themselves caffeinated after they lunched at California Pizza Kitchen. That’s my girl, keepin’ it real:


As you can see, not even the colder SoCal weather (highs in the 50s, y’all) has forced a change in Britney‘s Starbucks habit (and let’s be honest, it’s a habit she’s had for YEARS). While colder temps might inspire others to drink a hot drink, our dear Britney still got her beloved iced cappuccino. It’s great to see her out and about with Brett … tho, I wouldn’t mind seeing her in the company of her man Jason Trawick … but I’ll take my dear Britney any way I can :D

Paris Hilton Flashes Her Bum In SoCal

Unsurprisingly, Paris Hilton has suffered another wardrobe malfunction that actually pains us more than it does her. While shopping yesterday, Paris inadvertently flashed her nearly bare bum in front of a gaggle of paparazzi photographers … so, er, the word “inadvertently” might not be the right way to describe the malfunction after all:

She’s been famous since birth, so Paris Hilton should really have got the hang of dressing for photographers now. But the 29-year-old socialite appeared to have forgotten all her fashion rules yesterday when she stepped out in Los Angeles wearing a pair of black leggings which turned sheer under the glare of hundreds of flashbulbs. However, the hotel heiress seemed unaware of her fashion faux pas, and merrily loaded hundreds of shopping bags into her car following a shopping trip with mother Kathy and sister Nicky.

While I would normally disbelieve that these wardrobe malfunctions form Paris Hilton are just accidents, this time … I tend to believe that she was completely unaware that her nearly sheer leggings turned invisible in the glare of the flashbulbs. Is Jessica Simpson Pregs?

There has been a bit of talk recently that Jessica Simpson might be pregnant. In recent weeks Jess has been lookin’ a bit more healthy and then, all of the sudden after only 6 months of dating, she went and got engaged to be married to Eric Johnson. Just this week, Jessica pulled out of a live performance on The Early Show on CBS due to illness. All of these circumstances have lead people to guess that Jess might be hiding a pregnancy. BUT according to a new report from E! online, Jessica Simpson is NOT pregnant … yet:

The timing of their engagement was suspect from the start. And they have only been going out for about six months (what’s the rush, guys?) … But is Jess really pregnant with fiancée Eric Johnson’s baby? Hold onto your ever-mounting evidence. This rumor is … So false! For now. “She is not pregnant,” a source close to the 30-year-old told E! News. But it’s no secret that she wants to be. Just last week, a Simpson insider told E! News that Jess is itching to graduate from her auntie duties. “She wants to have a baby,” the source said. “Like, really, really wants a baby. She’s been giddy with her friends and that’s the extent of the planning, but she’s thinking baby.”

There is no question that Jessica Simpson wants to become a mother. If I recall correctly, homegirl has wanted to get knocked up since she was married to Nick Lachey all those years ago. I’ll admit it, I kinda thought that Jess might be pregs when news of her sudden engagement was announced this month but I guess she’s actually not pregs … just yet. While I personally am not too keen on the hasty engagement so soon after Eric got divorced from his ex-wife, I am hopeful that Jessica Simpson is truly happy and in love. Jess would make a great mom, I just know it. I’m sure we’ll be hearing news of her pregness sooner rather than later … just not yet.

Lindsay Lohan Is Licensed To Drive Yet Again

Drivers, beware! The State of California has decided to see fit to give Lindsay Lohan a driver’s license … again! After being stripped of the privilege to drive on public roadways in the wake of her multiple drunk driving convictions and probation violations, Lindsay is now once again a licensed driver:

TMZ has learned … Lindsay Lohan is officially a California driver again, because her privilege to get behind the wheel has just been restored. The L.A. County Probation Department and officials at the Betty Ford clinic signed off this morning, so Lindsay can drive just like us. And speaking of just like us … we’re told Lindsay is not getting special treatment. The folks at Betty Ford routinely allow people “at Lindsay’s care and treatment level” the right to hit the road.

See … here’s what I don’t understand. What the Hell is the rush? Lindsay Lohan is **STILL** in rehab. She is **STILL** supposed to be paying back her debt to society for her crimes and yet … she’s already allowed to drive again? I just don’t understand. I know people who get busted for far less serious crimes who lose their driver’s licenses for much longer. I simply do not believe that Lindsay is not benefiting from special treatment. I just … it doesn’t make any sense at all.

Christina Aguilera Holds Hands With ‘Friend’ Matthew Rutler

A couple of weeks ago we saw a photo of newly single Christina Aguilera in the close company of a new male friend named Matthew Rutler who is rumored to be her new romantic interest. It was reported that the couple had gone on a double date with friends Nicole Richie and Joel Madden. Over the weekend, Xtina and Matt were spotted coming out of a hotel (!!!) holding hands (!!!). Might this be the first true sign that the couple are romantically involved?


To be honest, I sincerely hope that the couple are really just friends … after all, friends hold hands, right? It just seems way too soon for Xtina to be getting romantically involved with anyone. While it is widely believed that her marriage to Jordan Bratman was over ages ago, she only just filed for divorce only about a month ago. It’s entirely possible that Matt is just providing a supportive shoulder for Xtina to cry on … cuz he’s clearly offering her a warm hand to hold on to. It remains to be seen what other body parts Matt is making available to Xtina but if something is really going on between these two, we’re bound to find out sooner or later.

Joss Whedon Responds To News Of The ‘Buffy The Vampire Slayer’ Reboot

Yesterday afternoon we learned that the reboot of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer film is officially moving forward WITHOUT any input at all from creator Joss Whedon. Today, we get to hear from Joss himself about this Buffy reboot. Joss was asked to respond to the news of the planned Buffy reboot, which will be written by a woman named Whit Anderson, and this is what he had to say:

I’m glad you asked for my thoughts on the announcement of Buffy the cinema film. This is a sad, sad reflection on our times, when people must feed off the carcasses of beloved stories from their youths—just because they can’t think of an original idea of their own, like I did with my Avengers idea that I made up myself.

Obviously I have strong, mixed emotions about something like this. My first reaction upon hearing who was writing it was, “Whit Stillman AND Wes Anderson? This is gonna be the most sardonically adorable movie EVER.” Apparently I was misinformed. Then I thought, “I’ll make a mint! This is worth more than all my Toy Story residuals combined!” Apparently I am seldom informed of anything. And possibly a little slow. But seriously, are vampires even popular any more?

I always hoped that Buffy would live on even after my death. But, you know, AFTER. I don’t love the idea of my creation in other hands, but I’m also well aware that many more hands than mine went into making that show what it was. And there is no legal grounds for doing anything other than sighing audibly. I can’t wish people who are passionate about my little myth ill. I can, however, take this time to announce that I’m making a Batman movie. Because there’s a franchise that truly needs updating. So look for The Dark Knight Rises Way Earlier Than That Other One And Also More Cheaply And In Toronto, rebooting into a theater near you.

This is exactly the type of response you’d expect from Joss Whedon, yes he is obviously pissed and he makes that clear … but he manages to refrain from making any low blows and actually writes a body of text that will very likely be even better than the entire script for the planned Buffy reboot. I am still not calmed down from the news that Warner Bros. plans to move forward with an entirely new Joss Whedon-less Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie. I’m not sure if folks understand but the new reboot will NOT feature any of Buffy‘s beloved friends! The studio owns the rights to the character Buffy Summers but they DO NOT own the rights to any of her friends … Giles, Willow, Xander, Cordelia, Angel, Spike and on and on. Those characters are owned by Joss Whedon and they will NOT be appearing in the big screen reboot that WB is planning. It is just unbelievable that they think they will be able to profit from Whedon‘s work without his influence in the film at all. Complete bullshit!

As a result of the Buffy reboot news, a Facebook fan campaign called I’m with JoJo (which is similar to the I’m with CoCo campaign that started up in support of Conan O’Brien earlier this year) has been launched in an effort to show Warner Bros. that NO ONE wants this Buffy reboot to happen without Joss Whedon‘s involvement. You can join the I’m with JoJo campaign HERE and let your voice be heard.

This is not the last we’ll be hearing of the Buffy reboot but it will likely be the last we hear from Whedon on the reboot … which means, this may be the last thing of import we hear about this travesty that just won’t die.

No Whedon? No Buffy.

Prince William & Kate Middleton Will Marry In April 2011

A week ago today we learned the joyous news that Prince William of Wales proposed marriage to Kate Middleton after 8 years together. Just a couple of days later, Kate was spotted paying an after hours visit to Westminster Abbey and it was presumed that she was scoping out the church as the possible site of the couple’s nuptials … but at that time, no wedding date was announced. Today we not only learn that the couple will, in fact, marry at Westminster Abbey but that the wedding will take place on April 29, 2011:

Britain’s Prince William will marry Kate Middleton on Friday, April 29, at Westminster Abbey in London, the royal family said Tuesday, ending a week of speculation about the date and venue. “The royal family will pay for the wedding, following the precedence set by the marriages of the prince and princess of Wales in 1981 and Princess Elizabeth and Prince Philip in 1947,” Prince Charles’ spokeswoman said in a statement. The government will meet any wider transportation or security-related costs, Prime Minister David Cameron said. The thousand-year-old Westminster Abbey has been the favorite of royal fans, the media, and bookies ever since the couple announced their engagement a week ago. Westminster Abbey was founded in 960, with the present Gothic church dating to 1245. Since 1066, it has been the “coronation church” — the place where kings and queens are crowned when they ascend to the throne. Its close ties to the monarchy means it has also been the site of many royal weddings and funerals. Queen Elizabeth II married Prince Philip there in 1947, when she was still a princess; her father, King George VI, got married there in 1923. The funeral service for Princess Diana, William’s mother, took place there in 1997. Middleton was photographed leaving the Abbey last week with her parents, and British newspapers reported they had a private after-hours tour. The wedding day will be a national holiday, Cameron said, though Scottish lawmakers still must approve the measure because Scotland has its own devolved government. “The wedding of Kate and William will be a happy and momentous occasion,” Cameron said in a statement. “We want to mark the day as one of national celebration. A public holiday will ensure the most people possible will have a chance to celebrate on the day” … The palace had already said the wedding would take place in the spring or summer of 2011, but it refused to give a firm date. It’s unclear whether the couple chose April 29 because it coincides with St. Catherine’s Day on the Anglican calendar of saints. The palace has been referring to Middleton as “Catherine” instead of her usual “Kate.”

Wee!! And now we know what date to look forward to for the royal wedding! There is no question in my mind that the wedding date is meant to correspond with St. Catherine’s Day … it’s just so perfect. We are now about 5 months away from the royal wedding of Prince Wills and his princess-to-be Kate Middleton. The eyes of the world will be trained on Westminster Abbey on the morning of April 29 … I cannot wait!!
