Prince William & Kate Middleton Will Invite Select Members Of The Public To Their Royal Wedding

Posted: 24 Nov 2010 01:34 PM PST

Yesterday we learned that the royal wedding of Prince William of Wales and his longtime girlfriend Kate Middleton will take place at Westminster Abbey in London, England on April 29, 2011. Today we learn that a select number of lucky commoners will be invited to attend this royal wedding next Spring. BUT, as this report makes clear, the commoners who will be invited will not be chosen by lottery … they will likely be chosen by the work they have done for Prince William‘s favorite charities. And what kind of wedding dress will Kate be wearing on her big day? We likely will not find out until she shows it to the world on her wedding day … but famed wedding dress designer Monique Lhuillier has released a sketch of the dress that she would happily design for Kate:

Prince William and Kate Middleton are eager to have ordinary people attend their royal wedding in April, though palace sources tell PEOPLE that reports of a golden-ticket style public lottery are not true. The commoners who will receive the coveted invitations are likely to come from the charities that the prince and his bride are close to, sources tell PEOPLE, while denying a report in The Sun on Wednesday of a Willy Wonka-style lottery. It’s not clear exactly who will be invited, but palace staff are expected to use the 1997 funeral of William’s mother Princess Diana, which was attended by many charity workers, as a model. That means campaigners for causes like homelessness, children’s welfare and cancer awareness – from groups like Centrepoint and Starlight – could be invited to William and Kate’s nuptials. “They are areas that the couple would like us to explore, but it is too early to be specific,” a palace source tells PEOPLE … William’s private secretary said Tuesday, “Prince William and Catherine have made it very clear that they wish everybody to be able to enjoy the day with them.” In other news, Kate will be keeping her dress secret from her fiancée (and the rest of the world) until the big day, but there is speculation that her choice of designer will be announced soon.

Can you imagine? Ugh … as an American, I have NO chance of getting an invite (unless mebbe Katiekins is a fan of Pink is the new Blog!!!) but I would LOOOOOOVE to attend the royal wedding of Wills and Kate. Dang, how cool would that be? I can’t even imagine how pretty Kate‘s dress will be … this Lhuillier sketch is stunning but my guess is Kate will go with a British designer. To be honest, no matter what dress she wears … Kate will be a vision of beauty, I just know it. I cannot wait to find out which commoners will be the lucky ones invited to the wedding … any Brits out there secretly hoping they might score an invite?

Michael Lohan Chimes In On Lindsay Lohan’s Firing From ‘Inferno’

Posted: 24 Nov 2010 01:14 PM PST

Remember last month when Michael Lohan issued a public statement that claimed that he would no longer be making public statements about his daughter Lindsay Lohan? Yeah, that was bullshizz. Last night, Daddy Lohan gave an interview to Celebuzz so that he could give his $0.02 on reports that Lindsay was fired from appearing in the upcoming Matthew Wilder film Inferno. According to Lohan, his daughter wasn’t fired … she quit. He also advises Wilder to “shove it up his butt”. Ladies and gentlemen, the always classy Michael Lohan:

Michael Lohan was on the warpath last night outside House of the Blues in West Hollywood, this time slamming the director of Linda Lovelace bio-pic Inferno Matthew Wilder. Lindsay Lohan’s father claims Wilder was lying when he said he had fired Lilo from the lead role in the film. Celebuzz talked to Michael at the event to set the record straight, and he tells us “Lindsay left Inferno. Wilder can go shove it up his butt. She didn’t want to do that movie. He’s full of it. He was trying to ride our coattails” … “She doesn’t need to do a movie like that,” Michael Lohan told Celebuzz. “Give me a break. Great thing to do for a girl that’s going through recovery. Put her in a position to act in a position where she’s a drug addict. Real genius, and he cares, right? Come on. Biggest hypocrite on the planet.” Then Michael threatened, “If he wants to say he fired my daughter or let her go, let him say it to my face.”

Um … Michael Lohan is calling Matthew Wilder the “biggest hypocrite on the planet”?! LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I can’t even … I just … can’t. After the jump, check out video of Lohan‘s idiotic rant so you can hear his doucheyness for yourselves …

As you may recall, we learned this week that Lindsay Lohan will NOT be allowed to fly home to NY to spend Thanksgiving with her mother but will be allowed to come up to LA to spend the day with her father. Now I really feel sorry for her :(

‘Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark’ Releases New Promo Photos

Posted: 24 Nov 2010 12:57 PM PST

Previews for Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark are scheduled to begin this Friday but, if you can believe it, the big budget Broadway musical was *still* dealing with safety issues just last weekend! The official opening night of the show has already been pushed back to January but, ready or not, the show will go on this week … or so they say. The New York Times brings us our first real look at the show with the release of new photos from the production. We may have gotten our real first look at the show back in August but today we get to see some of the players, Spider-Man included, on the actual stage:

Nine years in the making, the moment came on Saturday to try running through the first act of the new musical "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark" without stopping … In the last week, the nervous creators of the show, the most expensive in Broadway history, have begun to see the hand-drawn sketches, the digitally animated videos, the comic-book-inspired costumes come to life — to see "Spider-Man" finally, literally, take flight. "Creating art that has never been done before is the reason I get out of bed in the morning," said Bono, leaning forward in Row A on the aisle, as Reeve Carney, playing Spidey, rehearsed onstage. "This feels like it." Yet time is running out. At the creators' last dinner on Friday night before Bono and the Edge left for a U2 tour in Australia, Bono said bluntly that the show "won't get out of the gate" and have a chance to catch on with audiences if technical problems persist, as they have in rehearsals … Every week's delay eats up to $2 million in lost revenue and, especially, higher expenses for technical rehearsals that require additional crew members. But Ms. Taymor said she hoped that those who bought tickets to preview performances, many of which have been offered at reduced prices, will "get to enjoy the art of making theater, as well as the magic of it." Ms. Taymor has shielded that magic, as well as most other details of the show, from public view for years now … "What I really wanted to do, and what the 'Spider-Man' movies and comics haven't done, is go to this absolutely fantastical, mythic place that is out of time, somewhere between reality and the dream world," she said. And where the fits and the starts have occurred. At the Act I run-through, as Ms. Mendoza's Arachne began descending, her spider-legged costume came undone because of a malfunction. Ms. Mendoza was hoisted back aloft; about 20 minutes later, the scene unfolded without incident.

The rest of this excellent NYT article can be read HERE. For the most part, the show sounds amazing … but if they cannot get the technical aspects down pat AND ensure the safety of the players and the audience, then the show is DOOMED. I suspect once the show opens to previews, there will undoubtedly be some technical problems (after all, all Broadway shows have technical problems). But Spider-Man‘s problems will sound even more severe because of all the hype … which could, eventually, sink the show. I want to see it. I’m hoping they manage to keep the show going long enough for me to be able to see it for myself. After the jump, check out a newly released preview video that shows behind the scenes footage from Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark

It looks cool, right? I really hope it works out … this show could be so epic! It could also be the biggest flop in Broadway history so … I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

Fun Not Fab

Posted: 24 Nov 2010 12:24 PM PST

On Monday night David and I attended an early screening of the new film Burlesque which stars the legendary Cher and Christina Aguilera in her feature film debut. To be honest, I really wasn’t all that excited to see the film but I had a hard time turning down an offer to see the movie in full for free in order to make an honest assessment of the film. Long story short, I didn’t love the movie but I also didn’t hate the movie:

After the jump, read some of my thoughts on the film and find out what I liked and what I disliked about Burlesque. I will say right now, the movie is fun to watch and might be worth putting on your Must See Movie list …

I was very surprised by Xtina Aguilera‘s performance. No, she wasn’t spectacular but she was not the worst part of the film. What hurts the movie, I think, are the far too numerous clichés that are thrown into the storyline. I can’t even list them all … from the young ingenue singer (who loses her mother at a young age, I might add) who moves from a small town to the big city to make it big cliché to the aging former star who takes said ingenue under her wing in order to save her club from foreclosure cliche and every other similar cliché in between — it’s just hard to take the story very seriously. To be honest, not all of the musical numbers are that good … but there are a couple of really AMAZING performances. When the music starts up, the feel of Burlesque ranges from Coyote Ugly to a bad Pussycat Dolls music video. That being said, the gays will LOVE this movie. There were a lot of gays in the audience at my screening and they all applauded every time Cher opened her mouth to sing … or even speak. There is a scene where Cam Giganet is totally nekkid and the gays next to me actually gasped out loud and moaned! Yes, there is a lot in Burlesque to keep most gays happy. I, personally, had fun watching the film … Cher is fabulous and Xtina‘s acting ain’t all bad. The music is fun … which makes the whole thing kinda fun. Burlesque is no Chicago but it is a good time at the movies. Inexplicably, Xtina sings her own version of the Marilyn Manson song The Beautiful People which makes no sense at all … but, again, for the most part I had fun.

I think I’ll be heading out to the movies again tonight … Love and Other Drugs and Tangled both open today along with Burlesque. I’m not sure which movie I’ll see but I deffo want to see them both.

Tonight is the biggest drinking night of the year so I hope that all y’all will be SAFE tonight! No drinking and driving, y’all! Party safe and have fun!

Britney Spears & Jason Trawick Leave SoCal For Thanksgiving

Posted: 24 Nov 2010 10:36 AM PST

Yesterday we saw photos of our dear Britney Spears enjoying a loving afternoon in Calabasas, CA with her BFF/assistant Brett Miller. While I love seeing photos of Britney and Brett, I lamented the fact that we hadn’t seen Britney and her beau Jason Trawick out and about for some time now. Right on cue, new photos of Britwick came out that showed the couple making their way thru LAX Airport last night on their way out of town for the Thanksgiving holiday tomorrow:

It’s not clear where the couple are headed … might they be making their way to Kentwood, Louisiana to celebrate Thanksgiving in Britney‘s hometown? OR, might the couple be headed off to NYC so that they can celebrate the holiday with Jason‘s family who live there? It is also possible that Britwick might be ditching their families altogether and are headed for Hawaii, the site of their Summer vacation to relive their Summer romance? Wherever Britney and Jason go, I’m sure they are thankful that they can be together … and it is my sincerest wish that they enjoy a bountiful Thanksgiving together.

Rihanna Does ‘Interview’ Magazine

Posted: 24 Nov 2010 10:00 AM PST

A very colorful Rihanna is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Interview magazine. Altho the official Interview website has yet to be updated with the Ri Ri feature, today we get our first look at her beautiful coverphoto and accompanying photospread:

Rihanna‘s coverstory interview was conducted by Kanye West who, IMHO, isn’t a great interviewer. He talks way too much about himself when he should be focusing on the person he is interviewing (click HERE to see scans of Rihanna‘s Interview interview with Kanye). Thankfully, the photos are all about Rihanna … and she looks fantastic. Check out a few photos from her spread, after the jump …

I much prefer Rihanna‘s Kool-Aid red hair when it is featured in editorial photoshoots like this rather than when she’s walking the streets in normal, everyday life. This has to be one of Rihanna‘s better photospreads … I love every photo. What do y’all think? She looks good, yeah?

The Season 11 ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Champion Has Been Selected

Posted: 24 Nov 2010 09:00 AM PST

Last night, America spoke and they selected a new champion for the 11th season of Dancing with the Stars. As you may know, the final 3 contestants vying for the mirror ball trophy were Jennifer Grey, Kyle Massey and Bristol Palin … and last night, one of these stars was crowned champion:

After the jump, see photos of the season 11 Dancing with the Stars champion posing triumphantly with the mirror ball trophy and hear what he/she had to say about his/her “unbelievable” victory

With less than 10 minutes remaining in Tuesday’s live finale of Dancing with the Stars, millions of fans must have breathed a collective sigh upon learning that season 11′s controversial finalist Bristol Palin had come in third place. After weeks of tumult about Palin’s staying power thanks to an active voting fan base, in the end it was not enough and actress Jennifer Grey and partner Derek Hough were crowned the champs. “I didn’t even think about winning when I first started. This is so unbelievable,” said Grey, 50, who has had four neck surgeries and battled cancer. “I feel so grateful, so blessed, that I had this opportunity to spend three months learning to dance and getting paid for it. I don’t know that there’s any experience that will ever be anything like this again.” Meanwhile, this win is Hough’s third on the show, following last season’s victory with Nicole Scherzinger and season 7′s with Brooke Burke. With Hough’s help, Grey slowly made her way around the ballroom after the show to talk to press. Following Monday night’s performances, during which she earned two perfect scores, Grey ruptured a disc in her lower back. In between performances on Tuesday’s finale, Grey was visibly in pain. An ice pack was strategically tucked into her fringe dancing pants as she conducted post-victory interviews. Grey credited her husband, actor Clark Gregg, and their 8-year-old daughter, Stella, for their undying support of what she calls her ballroom dancing “immersion course.” “I’ve done nothing but sleep and take care of my injuries. They have been so amazing,” says Grey. “My husband has been taking care of everything and my daughter has become so much more self-sufficient. It’s been great for everyone. I found out my husband can cook!”

Now, I’m not a big DWTS fan by any stretch of the imagination but naturally I am always happen when a fave celeb of mine gets crowned champion of the show. I have loved Jennifer Grey for years and it just makes me really happy to see her bask in the glow of this win on Dancing with the Stars. Jennifer is 50 years old, y’all! From what I understand, she managed to pull off perfect 10 dances thruout the season and IMHO was the most deserving contestant of the season. Congrats and love goes out to Jennifer Grey on her win … I’m SO THRILLED that America did the right thing and awarded her the much-deserved championship.

What did y’all think of last night’s finale of DWTS? Did your fave win?

Sue Sylvester Marries Herself On ‘Glee’

Posted: 24 Nov 2010 08:18 AM PST

Earlier this month Glee actress Jane Lynch spilled the beans that her character Sue Sylvester would be gettin’ hitched on the extremely popular FOX TV series. Last night, we got to see Sue Sylvester get married to … Sue Sylvester:

I had erroneously guessed that Sue would walk down the aisle in a white track suit wedding dress but she actually wore a blue one. Pink reader cmc correctly guessed that Sue would be marrying herself. Last night’s episode was pretty damn good but not because of Sue‘s wedding to herself but because of the other wedding that took place … that of Kurt‘s dad and Finn‘s mother. Finn‘s declaration and show of love for his new brother Kurt was so damn sweet, Glee damn near made me cry last night!

The ep ended with a bit of a surprise. In order to keep that ending unspoiled for those of you who have yet to watch the ep, you’ll have to go behind the cut to find out what happened and to watch a video preview of next week’s Glee performance of the Train song Hey, Soul Sister by actor Darren Criss (Blaine) and The Warblers

Because Chris Colfer‘s character Kurt has been living in fear of constant bullying, he decided to transfer to Dalton Academy at the end of last night’s ep … that means that Kurt will be singing with The Warblers glee club, going up against his former New Directions glee club at sectionals. Dun. Dun. Duuuuuuuuuuun. Here is video of the Dalton Academy Warblers performing Hey, Soul Sister on next week’s ep of Glee:

I really enjoyed last night’s ep of Glee … all the heartfelt sweetness really made the show feel like the good ol’ days. It remains to be seen how long Kurt will stay at Dalton Academy (cuz you know he won’t be staying there for long) but his leaving is sure to have a big impact on SECTIONALS!!!

So … what do y’all think of Sue‘s marriage? What do you think of the Glee version of Hey, Soul Sister? What do you think of Kurt‘s decision to transfer schools/glee clubs? Discuss.

Original Buffy Kristy Swanson Supports The Whedon-less ‘Buffy’ Reboot Film

Posted: 24 Nov 2010 07:46 AM PST

Yesterday we got to hear from Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator Joss Whedon regarding his thoughts on plans for Warner Bros. to make an entirely new Buffy film without his involvement. Today we get to hear from the actress who originally played Buffy Summers in the 1992 Buffy the Vampire Slayer film. Kristy Swanson played Buffy in the original film, written by Joss Whedon, and says that she has no problem with plans for a Whedon-less Buffy reboot … in fact, she hopes to get a starring role in the film herself:

Joss Whedon has already spoken out about plans for an upcoming Buffy the Vampire slayer remake, and now Kristy Swanson, the first woman who first brought the vamp-killing heroine to life on the big screen, also has something to say about it: "Let Buffy live. Why not?" "If they wanted me to be a part of it, I think that would be fantastic and that it would be a blast," she tells EW. Swanson was 22 when she first stepped into the role that would be transformed by Sarah Michelle Gellar seven years later, and she remembers that her first reaction to the new take on the character was, in fact, positive. ("It was a whole new idea, a whole new look," she says.) And she believes a transformation can happen again — even without its original maker. "There are die-hard Joss Whedon fans who absolutely love him to death, and rightly so. He's a brilliant man, no doubt," she says. "I love everything Buffy. I don't care who's doing it." Swanson's co-star, Luke Perry said via his rep that he has no comment on the project.

No offense to Kristy Swanson but of course she supports and wants to be in this Buffy reboot, after all … what else doe she have going for her? While she is the original Buffy Summers, she is not really Buffy at all. And let’s be honest, she has no allegiance to Joss Whedon … she may have worked with him for only a day or two IF AT ALL when they worked on the original Buffy film. She starred in the original film, yes, but that film has little bearing on how the Buffy saga actually turned out on the long-running and FAR superior TV series. Kristy Swanson will always have a special place in my heart because she did play the original Buffy … but these comments prove to me that she really has no ties to the actual Buffyverse. This would be more of a story if Sarah Michelle Gellar chimed in to support the Buffy reboot … but that will never happen. In fact, I’m convinced that NONE of the actors who starred in the BtVS TV series or its Angel spin-off would ever support plans for a Buffy film sans Joss Whedon. Swanson says “Let Buffy live” and I say, she does live … Buffy and her gang of Scoobies have been alive and well for years now in the excellent comic books series which is overseen and written by Joss Whedon! This Whedon-less reboot is just a bad idea and I honestly hope the film never sees the light of day. It would be such an affront to all the hard work that Joss Whedon has done over the years. As you may know, fans are amassing on Facebook at the I’m With JoJo campaign to show their support for Joss Whedon. Whether or not the film actually comes out, you can be sure there will be legions of Buffy fans who will not support the film. I am one of those fans.

No Whedon? No Buffy.
