Natalie Portman: “I smoked weed in college, but I haven’t smoked in years”

Posted: 07 Apr 2011 08:43 AM PDT

wenn3227769

I've just spent WAY too much time trying to find photos of Natalie Portman looking stoned. It actually wasn't that difficult, considering that in many of her pregnant photos, she looks kind of baked, but I debated whether or not that was appropriate. Guess what? It is! And I don't mean that she looks pregnant-baked in a nasty way - I often think super-pregnant women look baked. It's the hormones, I guess. They just look kind of out-of-it and blissed-out, which is how they probably look when they're stoned.

Anyway, Natalie Portman smoked the reefer. Back in the day, when she was in college. She talked about the good ol' days to Entertainment Weekly:

Black Swan star Natalie Portman makes her first post-Oscar movie appearance this Friday in the stoner comedy Your Highness. She's also developing Best Buds, a buddy comedy about a marijuana-laced road trip, with her production company Handsomecharlie Films.

But just because Portman is taking the high road in her work doesn't mean she's doing so in real life, too.

"I love stoner comedies. I smoked weed in college, but I haven't smoked in years," Portman told EW in December, a few weeks before announcing her pregnancy. "I'm too old. I wish I was that cool, but I'm like an old lady now. I'm in bed by 10 p.m. I can't do that anymore."

Portman explained that her interest in Your Highness was sparked when director David Gordon Green assured her that her role, an arrow-slinging female warrior, wouldn't just be window dressing.

"When I sat down with David, he was like, 'The girl's going to be funny here,'" said Portman. "To have him be able to think of me in that way was so lucky, because [the role] is a real departure from anything I've done on film."

[From Entertainment Weekly]

I have to say, Natalie Portman doesn't look too annoying in the trailers for Your Highness, but I'm admitting that through my obvious Danny McBride dong haze. So, even though Natalie doesn't look smug and pretentious in the trailer, and even though she's probably barely going to promote this movie, she still wants to gift us with one eye-rolling interview. Sure, I believe she smoked pot, and I bet she enjoys stoner comedies too. But she ruins it by reminding us all that she's an OSCAR-WINNING dramatic actress who gets to pull rank and demand changes to her character. If Natalie is as funny as she seems to think she is, why don't we ever see it in her interviews, by the way?

Kate Middleton’s firstborn is probably going to be a ginger

Posted: 07 Apr 2011 08:09 AM PDT

wenn1923683

Over the past week, I keep hearing all of this speculation about Kate Middleton and Prince William's post-nuptial plans. I'm not even talking about the honeymoon - which some think will either be within the UK (like, Scotland) or perhaps in Mustique. But the real story is where they're going after the honeymoon: where will they live when they're in London? Will they live with grand-mummy in Buckingham Palace? Will they live with the Prince of Wales in Clarence House, the most modern of all of the royal residences in London? Or will they go to Princess Diana's old apartments in Kensington Palace? Well, most people think they'll end up in Kensington Palace, either in Diana's old apartments or in another set. There's even talk of a massive renovation for the eventual move to KP. But for now, while they're figuring it out, Kate and Will are going to be moving into Prince Harry's apartments in Clarence House. It's like an episode of Three's Company, royal-style. And can you imagine sharing an apartment with Prince Harry? Um…

Prince William and Kate Middleton are to start married life by sharing a home with Prince Harry, it has emerged.

After they return from honeymoon, the royal couple are initially expected to move into a suite of rooms in Clarence House, while they decide where to live more permanently.

It means they will share their first married home with Prince Harry who lives there when he is in London.

Prince William and Kate are yet to confirm where they will set up home permanently once they are married, but Buckingham Palace, St James's Palace and Kensington Palace are all being considered as for their London base.

The Prince currently spends a large amount of time in North Wales where he is stationed with the RAF.

When in London the Prince stays in the Clarence House suite with his brother, who also spends a large amount of time away with the Army Air Corps.

[From The Telegraph]

So, William will be away a lot, and Harry's gone through the week most of the time, and then there will be the odd weekend when Kate is in London and Will is in Wales, working, and Harry will be in London too… and they decide to share a bottle of wine. Kate begins to talk about the new pressures she's feeling now that she's married. Harry listens to her, giving her advice in a soft voice, then leaning over to rub her shoulders. Their eyes meet. Harry runs his hand through her hair, suddenly grabbing a handful and pulling her head back. He moves in quickly, kissing her. Soon, their clothes are on the floor…

And nine months later, the newest member of the royal family, the third in line to the throne is born. And he or she is a ginger.

Is Mother Superior Gisele Bundchen expecting another saintly child?

Posted: 07 Apr 2011 07:35 AM PDT

wenn3284260

These are some new photos of Gisele Bundchen in Istanbul, Turkey, launching a new collection of her Ipanema sandals. The sandals are Gisele's own invention - I believe that a chunk of the proceeds from the sales go to one of Gisele's environmental causes. That's all well and good. Now tell me this: is Gisele looking kind of pregnant to anyone else? I asked CB to look and she thinks that Gisele looks "too full" for it to be just a food baby or whatever. My thoughts: Gisele is always skinny as a rail, and her stomach - even post-natal - was always super-flat. So either Gisele really enjoyed the hell out of the food in Istanbul, or Mother Superior is expecting another saintly blessing.

Meanwhile, you know how Tom Brady and Gisele are all "Bostonian" right? Well, several months ago they bought a huge chunk of land in LA, and they've been building their dream home out there. You can see photos of the place here and here - it's still under construction, but it's HUGE. So much for the environment, right? The place is 22.000-square feet, and includes eight bedrooms, a six-car garage, a spa, weight room, wine cellar and a BRIDGE. Also, sources claim that Gisele is "really tough to work with, screaming at the construction workers whenever she disapproved of their work." Well… I guess it's their money, they can spend it how they want.

And my guess is that Mother Superior is going to need all of those bedrooms for all of the babies she's going to be having! Starting with this one:

Britney Spears on US Weekly: real interview or written by her people?

Posted: 07 Apr 2011 07:31 AM PDT

usweekly_bycbfromzinio
This week’s OK! Magazine has the news that Britney Spears’ turned down a live radio interview with Carson Daly and refused to do anything unless it was pre-recorded and pre-approved. This seems to be supported by her print “interviews” to date and her recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel, where she did two pretaped segments and no interview. She also made a quick appearance on the Kids’ Choice Awards where she got grossed out by Jack Black’s Kung Fu Panda character eating some noodles, but that was obviously also pretaped as I didn’t even see her in the audience or on the red carpet.

As we’ve seen from her stints on How I Met Your Mother and Will & Grace, Britney is a passable actress but we also know she has a hard time with live interviews. (Remember when she chomped gum, cried and got defensive with Matt Lauer in 2006?) Judging from her print interviews it’s doubtful that they’re conducted in person or that she even partially writes the answers herself. Kaiser covered her US Weekly “25 Things You Don’t Know About” article and noted that it was like someone was trying to sound like Britney but was just slightly off.

Her people are working hard to make us forget the past few years, and to present Britney as this devoted mom in a steady relationship. She’s on the cover of US Weekly (with a lovely photo, she’s so pretty when she’s styled) and an accompanying “interview.” It’s all so predictable and packaged. It also includes some adorable pictures of Britney with her boyfriend, Jason Trawick, and her boys. Here’s some of what Britney “said” and given her past interviews it’s clear she’s not actually saying this. They don’t even use the pretense of describing where they met her or what she’s wearing so I’m guessing this interview was conducted via e-mail, like some of her other recent interviews.

Congratulations on Femme Fatale! How did making this record compare to making your first, Baby One More Time?
I’m at such a different point in my life now than I was back then. I’m more mature and much more hands-on now. I know exactly what I like and what I don’t like. I guess that can make the recording process difficult, because I’m very particularl about songs I put my voice on.

You’re a parent now too. How has motherhood changed you?
It really puts life into perspective. You have to think about all your decisions so much more carefully, because they are affecting your kids too. My priorities have changed, and I do everything for [the boys]. They remind me what life is all about.

Tell us about Preston and Jayden
Jayden is the youngest, and he might be the mama’s boy. He’s very outgoing, always making us laugh, and he’s very creative. Preston is definitely the big brother. He’s very independent. He’s really, really smart and thinks everything through.

What are they into these days?
Their new favorite thing is dressing up as different superheroes, and they’re just so cute! They especially love Batman and Spiderman. We love watching Disney movies together. I also love reading them Fancy Nancy books [a children's series by Jane O'Connor and Robin Priess Glasser] before bed…

What’s your parenting style? And what about Jason’s?
With some things I’m strict, and with other things I’m easygoing. I guess I’m right in the middle. Jason is just amazing with the boys. They look up to him so much - they adore him. He’s their hero.

What else do you love about Jason?
We have such a great time together! He makes me laugh, and we are so comfortable being ourselves. We like to stay home, order in, watch movies, go to dinner with friends. And we love getting away for the weekend. Some of our favorite spots are Las Vegas, Hawaii or Mexico.

Do you see yourself getting married again?
Maybe. Never say never!

[From US Weekly, print edition, April 18, 2011]

Does that even sound like Britney? You would think they would make more of an effort to make it sound casual. I get that she needs to be rolled out as “Britney 2.0: sane and better than ever,” and she seems to have made a big improvement, but I don’t think these staged articles are fooling anyone. She’s still lip syncing and kind of strutting around the stage and she just doesn’t seem into it. We’ve seen her struggle with fame, the paparazzi and with bathing before she leaves the house. I really want Britney to be happy and content in her life. I just get the feeling that she’d rather be doing something else instead of touring and putting out another album. It’s all she knows though, and she has a lot of people on the payroll depending on her.

Renee Zellweger’s green cocktail dress in Milan: adorable or tacky?

Posted: 07 Apr 2011 07:06 AM PDT

wenn3284383

I was genuinely surprised that so many of you whole-heartedly approved of Renee Zellweger's return to the red carpet after her split from Bradley Cooper. We had the photos of Renee modeling a Tommy Hilfiger purse (for charity) in Milan yesterday, and these are photos from the evening Hilfiger event, also yesterday. Once again, I'm assuming the dress is Hilfiger just because… why would Renee wear Carolina Herrera to a Tommy Hilfiger event? Still, it looks kind of Herrera-esque, right? Oh, well. I can't find who did the dress for sure.

I do really like it, though. I like the whole look - the makeup improved (her foundation was too dark when she wore the red coat), and the green totally pops. Her face doesn't look jacked and she's not making a lemon face. Even her body looks good - healthy.

Is Renee healthy, though? I dislike the tabloid stories pushing Renee as some kind of victim post-split from Bradley Cooper, just because Renee seems to be going out of her way to NOT act like a victim. Unfortunately, the British tabloids have their claws into a depressing story about the split - and I really hope it's not true. According to Now Magazine (yeah, not reliable), Renee is humiliated because she really did think she and Bradley would end up getting married, and she had already bought the Carolina Herrera wedding gown. The source claims that Renee bought the dress and Bradley kept pushing back the wedding date because his father was ill, and then after his dad died, Renee was all, "So we can get married now?" And Bradley was all, "Um, NO." Apparently, Renee has been telling friends that she's been "stabbed in the heart." Whatever… I think Renee might have wanted to marry Bradley, but as I said, I like the way she's been putting herself out there post-split.

Brad Pitt has a “nude scandal” with 23-year-old actress Bella Heathcote

Posted: 07 Apr 2011 06:34 AM PDT

starmag

The tabloids haven't had a big Jolie-Pitt cheating scandal in a while, so let's all take a moment and enjoy this week's Star Magazine. The cover is certainly damning, isn't it? The 23-year-old in question is named Bella Heathcote, which… I mean, that's a stage name, right? She must have made that up after reading the Twilight series, right? Anyway, from the looks of the cover, you would expect the story to involve Brad slowly undressing this young 23-year-old Bella in the privacy of his NOLA trailer, only to have The Demon (Angelina) suddenly throw open the door, catching them in a "nude scandal". Fortunately, Star Magazine's gerbils of doom were really stretching the cover lies with this one.

According to Jezebel's coverage of the story, Bella is an "Angelina look-alike" who got a part on Cogan's Trade, the film Brad is currently working on in NOLA. Dearest Bella has crushed on Brad for a while, according to Star, and she especially liked his nearly naked scenes in Troy. Bella even dreams of one day filming nude scenes with Brad, allegedly. And that - seeing Troy, wanting to play his love interest - is the NUDE SCANDAL. According to a source, “Everyone can tell she’s so Brad’s type. Their chemistry is going to be off the charts.” Operative words: "going to be". They haven't met. That's backed up by Us Weekly, who got a denial of Star's story from an unnamed source:

Contrary to what Star magazine claims, Australian actress Bella Heathcote isn’t trying to wedge herself in between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.

Heathcote, 23, and Pitt, 47, both shot scenes for Cogan’s Trade in New Orleans recently, but a source close to the actress tells UsMagazine.com there’s no truth to the reports that Jolie, 35, is “desperate to keep Brad away from Bella.”

“Bella has never even met Brad,” the insider tells Us. “She is in the movie but doesn’t have any scenes with him.”

After all, when Pitt isn’t on set, he’s spent most of his downtime bonding with his kids. Case in point? The hands-on dad took Maddox, 9, Pax, 7, Zahara, 6, and Shiloh, 4, to a screening of James Marsden’s new animated film Hop on Sunday.

“Brad was really sweet and very hands-on with the kids, never leaving their sides for a minute,” a source told Us. “The kids grabbed juices and carrots and candy at the reception and also made a flip book of themselves!”

The event raised funds for EBMRF, a skin disease affecting children; Pitt is on the honorary advisory board for the EBMRF medical research foundation.

[From Us Weekly]

I'm not saying it's totally beyond the realm of possibility that Brad could or would cheat on Angelina. It could totally happen, just like I think it's totally possible that Angelina might one day cheat on Brad. I tend to think it's more likely in Angelina's case, but whatever. What I am saying is that if the tabloids want to give me a juicy "nude scandal" involving Brangelina, they really need to work harder than this.

In other Brangelina news, Life & Style reports that Brad Pitt is obsessed with making their French chateau completely up-to-date, security-wise, and he's even building a panic room that would "have bullet-proof ballistic fiberglass and there’s an air filtration and ventilation system to protect agains chemical, biological and nuclear contaminants." Oh, and my favorite Jolie-Pitt story of the week also comes from Star: they claim Empress Zahara cut up a $4000 Valentino gown because it was too long and she was "unwilling to wait until she grows up to wear haute couture.” She shouldn't have to wait, people! The Empress has no couture!!!

Lindsay Lohan is a kept woman & she might be cast as Victoria Gotti

Posted: 07 Apr 2011 06:33 AM PDT

wenn3284967

These are some new photos of Lindsay Lohan with her pal (drug buddy?) Lady Victoria Hervey, arriving at LAX. Linnocent doesn't look as completely strung out as she's looked in the past few weeks, but she still has the look of a 40-something addict who has been ridden hard and put away wet. Speaking of, you know who some of us are always talking about how Linnocent is likely financing her cracked-out, expensive lifestyle through prostitution? Yeah. This was in Page Six this morning:

Lindsay Lohan has been cozying up to hotelier Vikram Chatwal. The starlet was spotted with the wealthy, soon-to-be bachelor at Top of the Standard on Tuesday night, spies tell us.

Chatwal — who is divorcing his actress wife, Priya Sachdev, whom he married in a 10-day, multicity wedding in 2006 — flew Lohan into the city on his private jet and has been putting her up in the penthouse of his Chatwal Hotel on West 44th Street.

The pair have repeatedly been seen together all over town. Sources close to Chatwal confirmed he’s separated from Sachdev, that he recently broke up with model Esther Canadas and has been spending time with Lohan. Earlier in the night, Lohan and Chatwal turned up at Don Hill’s for the after-party for Uma Thurman’s movie “Ceremony,” where the pair kept it low-key with owner Nur Khan.

But a source close to Lohan insisted, “They have a friendship and a business relationship, and that is it.”

[From Page Six]

So, a friendship and a business relationship. At best, she's being "kept" by him. At worst, she's being paid for services rendered.

In other Linnocent news, she's spreading disease a new casting rumor. Not content to just tell everybody that she's on the verge of being cast in Superman and a Charles Manson bio-pic that would see her cast as Sharon Tate, Linnocent has started a new casting rumor. She went to TMZ with the story - apparently, she's up for the part of Victoria Gotti, the daughter of John Gotti, in the new Gotti bio-pic starring John Travolta (remember those photos? Ha.). Lindsay told TMZ that she's in "final talks" to appear in the $75 million-budget bio-pic. Yeah… I'll believe it when the confirmation is on Deadline. By the way, Linnocent as Victoria Gotti…? Gotti has messed with her face too. And they do look kind of similar. Victoria looks younger, though.

Hangover II trailer pulled from theaters for being too offensive

Posted: 07 Apr 2011 06:05 AM PDT

Kaiser covered the Hangover II trailer (above) when it first came out last week. It looked funny as hell, but like they used the exact same plot device as last time: guys go out to celebrate an upcoming wedding, wake up the next day beat to hell and have to figure out what happened the day before. Ed Helms finds himself with a tattoo on his face instead of a missing tooth, they have a little monkey to tag along with them instead of a baby, and a guy goes missing and they have to find him. As many of you pointed out in the comments: if it ain’t broke… Still, you would hope that they would mix it up a little, but why mess with a good formula when there’s so much money at stake?

Like the first movie, this trailer has some shocking moments and things that could potentially be considered offensive. That’s what made the original (and let’s face it, probably the best) Hangover so much fun. Only Warner Brothers claims not to have run this trailer by the powers that be at the MPAA, who freaked out and made the decision to pull it after it was run during Source Code showings on April 1st. Source Code is PG-13. Slashfilm had the notice below informing theater owners that they were no longer to air the trailer even with R rated movies.
removetrailer

The Hollywood Reporter has the news that the trailer was pulled probably due to a scene where a monkey licks on a bottle from a guy’s pants (that’s at 2:15 in the trailer above.) Warner Brothers takes responsibility for not running it by the MPAA first, but that’s probably not the case at all. JoBlo notes that of course the trailer has the green MPAA “approved for all audiences” notice at the beginning, and adds that they probably didn’t pull it until people complained.

In one offending scene, Zach Galifianakis' character encourages a monkey to bite a bottle he's shoved under an old man's sarong.

Warner Bros. has pulled the first trailer for The Hangover Part II from theaters after failing to vet the spot properly with the Motion Picture Assn. of America, which makes sure movie advertising isn't out of sync with the ratings system.
The MPAA asked Warners to rectify the situation after the trailer—complete with a monkey made to perform a simulated sexual act—debuted in front Summit Entertainment's Source Code on April 1. Source Code is rated PG-13; while Hangover II is rated R.

"In our haste to meet the placement schedule for this trailer, we failed to properly vet the final version with the MPAA. We acted immediately to correct the mistake and removed the trailer from screens," Warner Bros. said in a brief statement.

But the trailer is apparently too racy to play even in front of R-rated films. Insiders said Warners is making several tweaks to the trailer before it goes back into theaters on April 15, playing in front of the R-rated Sream 4. The online trailer also will change.

Warners wouldn't discuss what's being tweaked, but insiders say the scene featuring the monkey nibbling on an old man's "wenis" is a likely target.

Hangover II opens in theaters on May 26.

[From The Hollywood Reporter]

Well maybe this trailer should have been rated with a red band for “restricted audiences” and only shown before R movies. I get that it could be offensive to some, but that’s not the filmmakers fault. If the MPAA viewed this and approved it, it’s on them. This will only increase the buzz for this film, which is sure to be a hit even if it’s a pale derivative of the original. Hell I’ll probably see it.

Hot Guy ‘Hanna’ Screening: Eric Bana in leather!

Posted: 07 Apr 2011 06:03 AM PDT

fp_7118640_hanna_premiere_ram_09_33

As I just discussed in the Blanchett story, last night was a big screening for Hanna, the Cate Blanchett-Eric Bana-Saoirse Ronan film that comes out tomorrow. Cate wasn't at the screening! Boo! But Eric Bana was there, and my GOD. This man. I've always liked Bana, but lately he has just been doing it for me, Big Time. And you know, I generally don't go for the nice, handsome beefcake-types. My type is willowy, pasty, smarmy bastards with an accent. Maybe it's Eric's fabulous accent work that wins me over? No, it's not just that. It's his EVERYTHING. The bitch is fine.

Saoirse Ronan is turning out to be a beautiful young woman, isn't she? I love her too! She might be a little mini-Blanchett. We'll see!

And just a little Matt Bomer - he was at the screening too, and the boy can wear the hell out of a suit.

Cate Blanchett defends her Oscar dress: “You’ve got to wear what you like”

Posted: 07 Apr 2011 05:44 AM PDT

wenn3230635

God, I miss Cate Blanchett when she's not around. Last night there was a big NYC screening of Blanchett's new film, Hanna, and Cate wasn't there! Boo!! But Eric Bana was there, and he was looking delicious - I'll have those photos up in a short while. For now, however, I need my Blanchett fix. I'm getting it from an exclusive interview Cate did with InStyle Australia, where she discussed her Givenchy Oscar gown/boob frame (the one in these photos). As you may remember, I loved the gown. I loved the gown mostly because Cate wore it, and because Cate can pull off looks that mere mortals couldn't dream of. That being said, on anyone else, the dress would have been hated. Well, Cate has seen the criticism, and she has an answer. It's a good one too.

Cate Blanchett's 2011 Oscars dress—a couture lilac gown by Givenchy—was one of the most fashion-forward looks of the evening, and Blanchett had no qualms wearing something so avant garde, despite the hit-or-miss reaction from fans after her appearance.

"People get so worried about dressing for other people, but you've got to wear what you like," Blanchett told InStyle this week while promoting her new film Hanna. "If people get it, they get it. If they don't, then it doesn't matter. There are so few houses that can afford to do couture, and since the red carpet is such a wonderful showcase, we should be celebrating that."

So what did she love most about the dress?

"It was so architectural, and the breast piece is made all out of elastic," she explained. "The color combination, I couldn't believe it when I saw it in real life. I was tempted to wear it two ways, because if you take the top part off, it's a really simple halter dress underneath. I thought the external piece was so unusual."

Does the transformational element mean we might see her in this again?

"You could wear it again because it becomes a completely different dress, so, possibly," she said.

[From InStyle Australia]

I love her. I love her justifications for wearing Givenchy couture. I love that she made it about representing High Fashion, and how it's not for everybody, and that's fine. La Blanchett doesn't judge you for not liking it, she's just saying that she liked it, and you should respect the craftsmanship. I love her. MORE BLANCHETT.
