Fantasy Fans, Rejoice! Neil Gaiman's American Gods Headed To HBO! Posted: 17 Apr 2011 11:40 AM PDT Much like Dark Tower fans, we're aware that Neil Gaiman followers can be pretty obsessive, so this news should be REALLY exciting to lots of people! Playtone partners Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman have brought Neil Gaiman's fantasy series American Gods to HBO, which we assume means things will work out for the project. Who says no to Tom Hanks? Seriously? Looks like Gaiman and renowned cinematographer Robert Richardson will write the pilot together. For those of you who don't follow cinematographers, Richardson's impressive credits include Hugo Cabret, as well as Kill Bill AND Inglourious Basterds. The book/potential show's story is about two sets of Gods (traditional and mythological ones). The Gods are "losing steam" because people aren't believing in them anymore, and they're in danger of being replaced by new Gods which "reflect America's preoccupation with technological advancements and obsessions with media, celebrity, technology, and drugs." The main character in the story is "an ex-con who becomes the traveling partner of a conman who turns out to be one of the older gods trying to recruit troops to battle the upstart deities." Wow! Quite a premise! Sounds like a good ole' controversial time to us! We hope they move forward with this. We're intrigued. Will U watch American Gods if it gets picked up by HBO?

Original Version Of Spider-Man Musical Swings On 42nd St For The Last Time Posted: 17 Apr 2011 10:20 AM PDT An end to a era, but hopefully the next chapter will be better than the last. It's been a grueling few months for the cast, crew and creators of Spider-Man Turn Off The Dark. The $65 million musical has found most of its cast in the hospital, its director without a job and its reviews scathing to say the least. With time not on their side, producers have planned a major overhaul of the "historic" show creatively and are hoping to get it back on its feet next month. So this weekend, the original version of the show, imagined by director Julie Taymor and her team, will take its final bow swing. After that, the show will go on a three-week hiatus to implement all the new changes. We're sure this is for the best, but then again, what other choice do they have really? Hopefully, whatever producers have up their sleeve will be profitable to them and still enticing for audiences. Good luck with that! [Image via WENN.]

Last night, a swarm of gracious celebrities attended the Evening With Women benefit for The L.A. Gay and Lesbian Center at The Beverly Hilton Hotel. On hand, knowing exactly what was going on, was the events celebrity organizer, Linda Perry, joined by some particularly fabulous faces like Cyndi Lauper, Juliette Lewis and Chely Wright, who brought her girlfriend! Sweet! Some others who were in attendance included Twilight star Jackson Rathbone, Jodi Sweetin, Jesse James and Kat Von D. Be Still Our Gleeky Hearts! Darren Criss Covers Billboard Magazine! Talks Solo Album! Posted: 17 Apr 2011 09:40 AM PDT And in his Dalton uniform to boot! SWOON! Darren Criss is on the cover of Billboard Magazine this month and while we know we could spend hours ogling his gorgeousness, we're also really excited about some of the things he said in his interview. Darren covered a wide range of topics, from his early influences to the upcoming Glee tour…to his own solo album!!!! Aaaah-mazing!! We would adore that!!! We've heard some of his original work from before Glee and we know he has a real gift for songwriting! We'd love to hear him use it!!! Here are a few HIGHlights from his interview: Why he got into musical theater: For me, it was Disney. I remember seeing people's reaction to "Aladdin" and thinking, "Oh, man, I want to be a genie when I grow up!" Robin Williams is a pretty big character in San Francisco. I was like, "I want to do whatever that guy does. What does he do, Mom? He's an actor? OK, I want to do that." About possibly releasing a solo album with Sony music: We're working on it—we're really excited and it's something I've been wanting to do for a long time. I'm so thrilled that it's something that can happen because of Glee, and like the Warblers album I hope I can do it justice and make it something that people can really enjoy. Getting prepared for the Glee tour: A year ago, I was so psyched that my first show in L.A. was at the Troubadour. Talk about so much for baby steps. It's like, "Wait—Staples Center, are you kidding me?" I was happy to drive around in a beat-up, crappy old van with my bandmates and just go to small clubs around the country. We have nothing but love and respect for this stud. He is humble, he is talented and if he got any more adorable, they'd have to fire everyone else on Glee just so he could be on for the full 42 minutes. We kid, we kid…or do we???

It's been confirmed that Brian May, the legendary guitarist for Queen, will be featured on Lady GaGa's upcoming album, Born This Way. Brian will be playing guitar on the track You & I. Outstanding! Brian is an incredible musician and will surely bring a lot of life to the song. We're so excited for our wifey to get the honor of working with him!

Xtina's BF's DUI Charges Are Dropped Posted: 17 Apr 2011 08:40 AM PDT Don't freak out, this is a fair move, since it turns out…he wasn't drunk! Remember last month when things went from bad to worse for Christina Aguilera and she was pulled over by the cops with her boyfriend Matt Rutler behind the wheel and both were arrested for being sloppy drunks? Turns out Matt was nothing of the sort and the DUI case has been dropped against him because of it. We hear the L.A. County District Attorney has officially rejected the case, citing insufficient evidence to prosecute him. What evidence they do have proves that Matt's blood alcohol level at the time of his arrest was .06, two points under California's legal limit to operate a vehicle, .08. Hmm. What is so insufficient about that? Seems pretty conclusive to us. And how come it took over a month for the police to figure this out? Wouldn't they have known his blood alcohol level right there and then? Something seems fishy to us about this.

Source report that yesterday, Nicolas Cage was released on a $11K bail bond after being arrested on charges of domestic abuse and disorderly conduct, by none other thanDuane "Dog" Chapman. Apparently, Dog The Bounty Hunter went against his profession and with his wife Beth in tow, went down to the jail to get Nic released. What in the world! Since when are you guys friends? Where did you all meet? Why were you in Louisiana? We're they filming your reality show? There are so many things we don't understand about this!!! [Image via WENN.]
