Jessica Simpson Shows Off Her Multiple Personalities On Twitter

Posted: 16 Apr 2011 03:00 PM PDT

Jessica Simpson, who appeared in a sharing mood yesterday, posted a fun photo on her official Twitter profile that showed off her many moods and personalities. It’s unclear if the photo is mean to be a promo photo for her hugely successful fashion line, an outtake from a photoshoot or just a collection of photos she posed for just for fun but I gotta say … Jess looks pretty fab in her leopard bodysuit. Check out the photo below.

United States of Tara? Which one is my REAL personality?

While I really don’t like animal print all that much, I don’t really mind it so much in this photo. What I do love is A.) how amazing and healthy Jessica looks and B.) how HAPPY she looks to look this way. As you may recall, Jessica and fiancée Eric Johnson got engaged to be wed in November of last year and the couple plan to be married this year. I understand that Jessica is planning to have a hand in designing her wedding dress … which is awesome … I just hope it won’t be leopard print ;) In any event, Jess looks fab in this photo montage! Work it out, girl!!

Movie Review: ‘Scream 4′

Posted: 16 Apr 2011 12:31 PM PDT

At last … after many years of hoping, praying, talking … then planning and waiting … Scream 4 finally opened in theaters here in the US yesterday. It seems like a lifetime ago that we first heard that the Scream film franchise was being rebooted with a new sequel and an ice age since the last film was released in theaters … but Scream 4 is out. I was able to see the film at a showing yesterday and I am very happy to reveal that I LOVED it entirely and believe it to be a very worthy sequel to the amazing Scream horror franchise.

I was very happy to see that Scream 4 manages to update the “horror movie rules” formula while still staying true to the spirit that we all know and love from the first 3 Scream films. The opening kill scene is just BRILLIANT. It’s so meta that I can’t even properly describe what happens … you’ll have to see it for yourselves. The movie is funny AND bloody. It seemed to be the bloodiest Scream movie yet … which is right on par with the way the sequels should be (tho I have to give the edge of the funniest Scream film to Scream 3, primarily because of Parker Posey‘s brilliant performance … and because of Courteney Cox‘s outrageously severe bangs). There is a nice dichotomy between the original cast and the new generation and the story twists and turns so much that you really do not know who the killer is (or killers are) until the body count whittles down the suspects … and even then, you really can’t be sure until that ghostface mask comes off. Be warned … NO ONE is safe in this film. If you have a fave character — either old or new — you better be prepared to see them skewered cuz in this film, anyone can die at any time. If I have one complaint about the film, it would be how long the ending dragged on. As you Scream fans should know, the killer always comes back for one last scare … but this time, that come back is quite long and drawn out. BUT, the movie is so good you kinda don’t want it to end so … more movie means more scares. I really had no idea how they were going to reboot the Scream franchise and make it both new AND true to the original films which came out a decade ago. I was very pleased to see that Scream 4 is a fun reboot of the franchise … and I’m DYING to see where the story will go next in Scream 5 … and Scream 6? Do yourselves a favor, go see Scream 4. If you love the original films, I think you’ll really get a kick out of and will enjoy this film a lot.

Janet Jackson ROCKS LA

Posted: 16 Apr 2011 12:01 PM PDT

Yesterday was a really fun day for David and me. After an early showing of Scream 4 (review forthcoming), we made our way to the Gibson Amphitheater to see Janet Jackson LIVE in concert on the second night of her LA stop of her Number Ones Greatest Hits Tour. David had seen Janet twice before in concert … last night was my first … and it was AMAZINGLY fun!

Our show was no nonsense, no frills … just HIT song after HIT song for about 2 hours. The show was pretty much one big medley. In order for Janet to perform all of her hit songs — and I mean ALL of them — she had to perform them in medley format. The show started with a medley of upbeat dance songs, then cooled down with a medley of ballads before going back into more killer dance tracks. Even Janet‘s onstage dress was bare bones … jeans, a tank top and combat boots … that’s all. To be honest, I was a bit bummed that the show wasn’t a big production. I’ve seen photos from her Rhythm Nation and Velvet Rope tours and she really knows how to put on a show. This tour, tho, is all about the songs … her massive collection of hits. She did not disappoint. I was in HEAVEN singing and dancing along to all of her songs. I actually remembered and busted out the dance breakdown parts to both Miss You Much and If right there in the aisles. I had no shame, it was a blast! The show was so fun … it was an honor to see Janet live in concert :)

A Very Pregnant P!nk Looks Ready To POP!

Posted: 16 Apr 2011 10:46 AM PDT

Heavily pregs popstar P!nk and her hubby Carey Hart were spotted out and about here in SoCal this week lookin’ very much ready to give birth to the baby that she is incubating in her protruding baby bump. When last we saw photos of P!nk and Carey Hart, it was February and she was munchin’ on pickles as the couple picnicked together on a beach in Malibu. P!nk‘s belly has gotten bigger in the time since … it would seem that she is ready to pop at any minute.

She's just days away from her due date, so Pink was spotted spending some quality time with husband Carey Hart before their sleepless night with a newborn kick off. The couple were going for a walk around Pacific Palisades in California and decided to cool down with an ice coffee from Starbucks during the outing. The 31-year-old pregnant singer was glowing in the Los Angeles sunshine in a long black maternity dress. While her freestyle motor cross racer husband Carey, 35, went for the rock star look in a black Hart and Huntington T-Shirt, from the U.S. tattoo parlour. Pink revealed this week via Twitter that she and Carey have been attending birthing classes and wants her husband to feed her during labour. She tweeted: 'what I learned tonight in baby class: the most helpful thing my man can do in early labour, is feed his partner. I like it already… [sic]' And she also spoke out about her troubles during her final days of pregnancy, writing: 'if someone would please help me with my pedicure, I can't reach my toes!!!’ … Although the sex of their baby has not been revealed, the singer has said she thinks it will be a girl. And Pink said of motherhood last month: 'I have a life inside me, and I want her or him to know that I will accept him or her with open and loving and welcoming arms. And although I will prepare this little munchkin for a sometimes cruel world, I will also equip this kid to see all the beauty in it as well.'

Aww … she looks so beautiful. P!nk really makes a beautifully pregnant woman … and I know she will make a kickass mom. I think the race is on … we know that Mariah Carey is really close to birthin’ her twin babies … and now with P!nk on the brink herself, I wonder which one is going to pop first. Any guesses? I wouldn’t be surprised if one or both of the ladies gave birth this week … but which one will do so first? Who do YOU think will become a mom first … Mariah or P!nk?

The James Bond Films Will Live Again

Posted: 16 Apr 2011 10:15 AM PDT

Back in 2009, it was reported that the MGM film studio was going bankrupt and in an attempt to pay back their debt they were close to losing the movie rights to the James Bond film franchise (which is already 20+ films long). Because of the studio’s financial woes, there was no chance that a new film (a follow-up to the last Bond film, 2008′s Quantum of Solace) would be made … until now. The LA Times reports this week that MGM struck up a deal with Sony Pictures to move forward with the 23rd and 24th James Bond films … the first of which is now scheduled to hit theaters in late 2012. Bond lives, y’all!

James Bond fans holding their breath about the fate of the superspy franchise can exhale a little. MGM and Sony have announced a deal under which the companies will co-finance and release the next two Bond pictures. After numerous false starts, the deal will return Daniel Craig to the screen as the suave if tortured hero on Nov. 9, 2012. (Sam Mendes will direct the new picture, which could also star Javier Bardem in the villain role.) As my Company Town colleagues report, the two companies will share financing costs, and Sony will release the movie in all but a few select worldwide territories; MGM will release the film in the remaining territories. A second film, known informally as Bond 24, will also fall under the new deal. Details of that are still a ways off, though the deal announced Wednesday offers hope that there will be fewer snags and delays than have afflicted Bond 23. MGM financial issues and other obstacles have led to a long gap between films; there has been no new Bond movie since “Quantum of Solace” was released in 2008.

This is, IMHO, great news. The Bond films are an institution and it would’ve been CRIMINAL if the franchise would’ve died. Daniel Craig is the most exciting Bond we’ve had in YEARS and I am very much looking forward to more films with him in the lead role. But, when it rains … it pours. Daniel Craig will star in the US adaptation of the Swedish film The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo at the end of this year … with 2 more films to follow. That means that Sony Pictures, which will produce both Dragon Tattoo and the Bond films, will have Craig workin’ overtime on both film franchises. Still, I’d rather have too many films than not enough. I know this is great news for fans of the James Bond film franchise … I know I, for one, am happy that more Bond films are on the way!

‘American Gods’ By Neil Gaiman May Be Adapted For An HBO Series

Posted: 16 Apr 2011 09:38 AM PDT

Fantastic news, Neil Gaiman fans! A new report by Deadline claims that plans are in the works to bring Gaiman‘s fantastic novel American Gods to the small screen in a fantasy mini-series or TV movie for HBO. There has been talk for years about bringing Gaiman‘s work to life in a TV movie or mini-series with the focus primarily on his extremely popular and well-loved comic book series The Sandman (which, unfortch, has yet to be adapted). Some of Gaiman‘s other novels Stardust and Coraline have been adapted for film and his novel Neverwhere was adapted in a TV mini-seires in the UK. This would be Gaiman‘s first work to be adapted for a US audience. Read on for all the known deets about this fantastic plan.

As HBO prepares to unveil its epic-sized series adaptation of George RR Martin’s Game of Thrones this Sunday, the payweb has begun talks to acquire the Neil Gaiman novel American Gods to be developed into another fantasy series. The project was brought to HBO by Playtone partners Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman, and it was brought to them by Robert Richardson. The plan is for Richardson and Gaiman to write the pilot together. Richardson is the renowned cinematographer who just completed Hugo Cabret and whose recent credits include Shutter Island, Inglourious Basterds and Kill Bill. He is a regular collaborator with directors that include Martin Scorsese, Quentin Tarantino and Oliver Stone and has won Oscars for The Aviator and JFK. It is his first significant scripting effort. He’ll do it in collaboration with Gaiman, a fanboy god for works like The Sandman, whose script work includes Beowulf. His novels Stardust and Coraline have been turned into films, and Neil Jordan is directing an adaption of Gaiman’s The Graveyard Book. American Gods, the 2002 book that won both the Stoker and Hugo Award among other prizes, lays out a battle between two sets of gods. One consists of the traditional gods and mythological creatures who got their power because people throughout history believed in them. They are losing steam as people’s beliefs wane and are in danger of being supplanted by a new set of gods who reflect America’s preoccupation with technological advancements and obsessions with media, celebrity, technology and drugs. The protagonist is an ex-con who becomes the traveling partner of a conman who turns out to be one of the older gods trying to recruit troops to battle the upstart deities.

This is AMAZING news!!! American Gods is one of my fave Gaiman novels (one that I’ve read a few times) and I think it would be perfect for HBO. There is even a sequel novel called Anansi Boys that could be adapted for HBO as well if the American Gods project does well … er, that is, if it gets adapted in the first place. You may recall that we learned last year that HBO is working on a adaption of Year Zero by Nine Inch Nails. Clearly HBO have got their fingers on the pulse of what is inventive and creative and they want to bring that inventive creativeness to their viewers. I really hope this project comes to life. I would LOVE to see American Gods adapted for HBO. They provide some of the best programing on cable television. I fully trust they will do a great job with Gods.

Oh and as a side note, I was unaware that The Graveyard Book film had already found a director! This is also very exciting news!! As I’ve tried to make clear many times, Neil Gaiman is my all-time fave contemporary writer. I voraciously eat up and relish all of his work. I am very much looking forward to these new film projects that will open up his work to a bigger, wider audience. If you are unaware of Gaiman‘s work, I suggest you pick up one of his books and fall in love. Start with American Gods. As I said, it’s one of my fave books … it might become one of yours as well.

Nicolas Cage Arrested For Domestic Abuse! [UPDATE]

Posted: 16 Apr 2011 09:00 AM PDT

According a new report from TMZ, actor Nicolas Cage was arrested in New Orleans, LA early this morning on a charge of domestic abuse. It’s unclear the severity of the alleged physical altercation but Cage is still in police custody. He got busted, y’all!

TMZ has learned Nic Cage was arrested early Saturday morning in New Orleans for domestic abuse. According to official records, he was arrested for one count of domestic abuse and one count of disturbing the peace. It appears Cage is still in custody.

Yeah, at this point there aren’t many details about what exactly went down but I’m certain we’ll be hearing all about what supposedly happened in the Big Easy. Ugh. Domestic abuse is such a heinous crime. I just hope whatever happened, IF anything happened, no one was severely hurt :(

UPDATE: TMZ has more info:

Sources close to Nicolas Cage tell TMZ … Nic was arrested in New Orleans this morning after daring the police to arrest him following a loud argument with his wife. Sources familiar with the situation tell TMZ … Nic was “very drunk” on the streets of N.O. when a cab driver saw him loudly arguing with his wife Alice. We’re told the cabbie called the police and said in addition to the screaming and yelling … he saw Nic push her. We’re told the police came and told Nic and his wife to just go home. That’s when Nic allegedly told cops, “Why don’t you just arrest me?” The cops then reiterated that he and his wife should just go home. Cage then repeated his dare to cops. At that point, police took Nic into custody and charged him with …domestic abuse and disturbing the peace. Our sources say Nic is still in custody and a bail hearing will he held shortly. We’re also told Nic’s wife is not a complaining witness and does not want him charged — and says there was no physical contact.

OMG … drunks. I sincerely hope this is merely a matter of too much booze (or whatever) and no actual physical contact. People need to lay off the sauce, like, for real.

First Look: Lady Gaga Reveals The Album Artwork For ‘Born This Way’

Posted: 16 Apr 2011 08:03 AM PDT

Lady Gaga unveiled the official artwork for her upcoming new album Born This Way late last night on her official Twitter profile just hours after her new single Judas first leaked to the Internets and then was officially released on iTunes for sale. Gaga teased the cover artwork by tweeting, “Get your hot rods ready to rumble, cause’ we’re gonna drink until we die.”- HIGHWAY UNICORN (ROAD TO LOVE), which I presume is a lyric from a new song. It turns out the “hot rods” part was meant to clue folks in that the cover artwork for Born This Way would have a motorcycle theme. Check it out below.

COVER BY NICK KNIGHT AND THE HAUS OF GAGA 5 † 23 † 11

Um … yeah. As much as Lady Gaga is known for her oddball avant gardeness, I think I was expecting the cover to be somewhat similar to the artwork she released for her single Born This Way and something less like, well, this. I understand that Gaga was originally going to pay homage to another famous character with this album cover but had to scrap that artwork at the last minute …

Hahahahahaha! I keed, I keed. I suppose we’re supposed to infer that this cover has some deep meaning but, IMHO, it looks odd just for the sake of being odd. It’s no secret that I’m not a Gaga fan so mebbe I just don’t get it. I guess I can see how it might be cool to be motorcycle lady person … perhaps she always wanted to be a Transformer. Whatever the case may be, this is album art that Lady Gaga wants representative of her new release. What do y’all think? Is it cool? Is it cutting edge? What … is it?
